Krayiss II

Mortati tossed his comm down onto the desk in front of him. He was hardly pleased with the news he had just received as it didn't bode well for business. War was the most profitable time for a man like him, yet when he was involved in such a war it was hardly good for business. It appeared that despite all the profits he had brought to Black Sun, Piccolo still wished to go against Ronin and him. It was a shame, really.

All the accounts that Mortati had been dealing with that held Black Sun Funds were drained and funneled into various other accounts where the process began again until they ended up in his own account. He was now a much richer man and this pleased him greatly. He sat back, sending out a few comms and putting the shipyards as well as the fleet on full alert.

It wasn't too terribly long before a shuttle arrived, carrying with it a few soldiers from Roon as well as a few exotic guards that none of the casual employee's would be privy to seeing. These special guards carried no weapons; they Were the weapons.

The Rebel nebulon B-2 frigate Nebula Light came out of hyperspace above the planet of Krayiss II. Unfortunatley, the Admiral who had sent Genearl Cadio Sikaot and Captain Ariane of the Rebel Alliance, had been misinformed, as the ship came out of hyperspace in the middle of the Black Sun fleet. Sikaot immediatly jumped into action.

"Get through their ships, if we can get between the planet and the ships they'll have to fire on their own planet and risk their resources, and we can get as many troops on the ground as possible before this ship goes up."

The commander of the vessle did his best to comply with the request. He began to angle the ship up at the highest possible speed. They had caught the enemy by suprise and had the advantage of speed on their side because of their size. While some of the other vessles were struggling to bring the systems online and move into an attack position, the Nebulon frigate was already halfway over the only ship between them and the planet, weapons blazing at the Black Sun fleet.

A few moments passed and the other ships began firing back just as they passed the ship and made towards Krayiss.

"Commander, begin launching landing shuttles with as many troops as can fit in one, and make sure there is still a shuttle left for me when I'm ready to take my leave with Captain Ariane. Rotate the ship 30 degrees to port every 60 seconds to give the sheilds time to regenerate in the part of the ship being attacked at that particular moment. Hold out as long as you can. Good luck and may the Force be with you."

With that the general motioned for the Captaian(Ariane) to follow him. They made their way throught he ship and towards the docking bay, alarms blaring around them. Their shuttle was already prepped with men loaded on it. They boarded the boarding ramp and Sikaot nodded for the pilot to take them down with the other shuttles, and out into the dogfights above Krayiss before their stop on the planet.

Mortati was more bemused by the Alliance's tactics then anything. Despite what they thought, the Black Sun forces Had been on high alert for over a day now, so they hadn't caught any one by surprise. Not a single Black Sun starfighter was released as the Nebulon b-2 Frigate cut a path towards the planet, releasing troop shuttles.

"How amusing," Mortati mused as he sipped at a glass of red wine from within the shipyards that orbited the planet.

It was such a shame that the Alliance had broken threw his ships, now he was left with nothing but an entire Fleet separating the single Alliance vessel and the shipyards. They would have no choice but contact him and try a few more peaceful tactics for whatever they were here for. He wouldn't contact them, though, he'd let them contact him and plead that he open up the block aid that was being put into place.

"Activate the gravwells," muttered Mortati as he moved back to his desk after suddenly losing interest in watching the actions out in space.

As Cadio was just about to leave the Nebulon he realized that what he was doing was stupid. Going to the planet surface wouldn't do him any good and if he died the next in line would be an inexperienced commander that had just been promoted. He quickly belayed his own order and moved back to the bridge.

He walked to the comm station and had them open a channel to Mortati.

--Comm--

Mr. Mortati. I am General Cadio Sikaot here on behalf of the Rebel Alliance. It is our request that you surrunder yourself to us for further questioning and an investigation into your alledged illegal activties. I would really not prefer to move into a further conflict on this particular day, but I will not hesitate to bring down the full power of the Rebel Alliance onto you swiftly.

Do I have your surrender?

--End Comm--

A Reply was sent to the Alliance vessel, which was in no place to be making demands.

'Well, I'd be glad to surrender if you present evidence against me.'

Considering what lengths Mortati went to, to make sure that everything in his operation had a legal front it was highly doubtful that the Alliance was able to get any information on him that concerned illegal activities without him knowing.

"...Though, Communiqués are so impersonal, how about you join me in my shipyards and we can discuss this over drinks, or perhaps dinner if your hungry. Wait, what am I thinking? Of course you want to join me. I'll send an escort out for you."

He wasn't going to give this man the freedom of choice; several fighters came out and began to move around the Nebula B while one of the larger ships moved into position behind the Alliance vessel. It was made obvious what would happen if he refused, but without Mortati directly saying anything to him about it there was nothing he could do as far as charges. Mortati hadn't done it, the ship commanders had.

((Yeah... ))

Cadio listened to his comm officer as he moved around the bridge. He looked at the hologram display showing the surrounding airspace. He saw one of the larger Black Sun ships moving into a flanking position of the Nebulon frigate. Of course, this could get him out of his current predicament, and he could go see Mortati, not that it was a good idea, but it could help.

He allowed the ship to be escorted to where he guessed Mortati was waiting and waited for further instructions.

Mortati watched passively as the Alliance vessel docked with the shipyards. A group of Black Sun Soldiers, armed with pistol scale railguns and fletchette rifles, were sent out as an escort for the Alliance officials. It appeared that only four figures would come up to greet him and two of those were just guards. They were rather trusting it would seem”¦that or they had something up their sleeves.

They were not allowed to take their weapons into Mortati's office and would have to let themselves be scanned for any concealed weaponry or explosives and after that they were led into his lavish office, or more appropriately called an apartment unto itself. He flashed a thin smile as his flesh was stretched taught over his sharp features.

”œSo glad you could join me, please”¦take a seat. Would you like a drink, something to eat?”

Cadio moved through the hall staring at the Black sun escort. His boots echoed down the hall as they arrived at Mortati's office. He took his seat after being scanned and Ariane took her seat next to him. Mortati offered him a drink, but he polietly declined.

"I'm quite alright. I've come prepared."

Cadio motioned towards a flask kept on his belt. He pulled it away and took a swig from it before leaving it on the desk.

"Now, why have you invited me here?"

Mortati took a seat in his overly plush leather chair behind his large oak desk. A long stem, crystal glass was sitting in front of him for all of two seconds before he eloquently lifted it up and took a sip of the deep crimson fluid.

”œAh, you aren't too quick on the intake are you? I invited you here so that you could explain just why you have come here to my shipyards to harass me with your meager ship. Why have you come here, slandering my name by treating me like a common thug? I am anything but common and I most certainly am not a thug.”

Cadio took a sip from his flask and began conversing with Mortati.

"I certainly didn't wish to imply that you are a criminal. I have come here under the order of Admiral Starlisk. I believe that you are just a very successful man who knows how to roll the dice in his favor. Unfortunatley, Admiral Starlisk has become aware that you have allied yourself with the Black Sun, which is possibly the biggest crime syndicate in the galaxy at this point, which would warrant a search of the facility.

I cannot arrest you, as I have no charges against you yet, but if you woudl submit to our custody for the time being it wiould make life a whole lot smoother and easier for the both of us. I am nothing if not reasonable Mr. Mortati, yet I am required to follow the commands of the Admiral. If I find evidence against you I will be required to arrest you, but I don't anticipate finding anything. Are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?"

Cadio sighed as the flechette launchers. There was no need for this. He raised his hands over his head, motioning for the three accompining him to do the same.

"Mr. Mortati, you're just making your life a hell-hole. I would have left on my own free will had you just asked and not gone into my custody. I can come back with enough power to flatten this base and your fleet, and now I do have charges against you. Assult on an Alliance officer will fit the bill nicely. Now, are you going to waste your shuttle, or are you going to let me leave on my own free-will?"

Cadio, having no desire to be killed himself, walked up the ramp of the shuttle. Mortati would come down, and quite easily if it was done right. He, and his only remain guard, made their way to the cockpit and began the pre-flight check. The loss of the Nebula Light was disappointing, but not crucial. A frigate of that size could easily be replaced, but if all went according to plan there wouldn't be anything for Mortati to use.

As they lifted up and manuvered through the hangar, Cadio sighed, activating the comm as they broke out into open space.

--Comm to the Commander of the Nebula Light--

Commander, get as many men out in escape pods and avaliable ships as possible, then activate the self-destruct sequence. Do not let the friagte fall to Mortati. I'm sorry it has to end this way. I'll alert your family that you died a hero. Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

--End Comm--

Cadio broke out of the Black Sun fleet and pulled the lever, moving the shuttle into hyperspace.

***

Aboard the Nebula Light, Commander Drabib made the order. Repel the intruders and get as many people out in the ten minutes remaining as physically possible. He had already dismissed the bridge crew to go to some of the remaining shuttles and the ground shuttles had been recalled to go to hyperspace. Close to 3/4's of the crew was able to get clear before being killed by Mortati's men. Of that, only about 1/4 was able to break the fleet and get into the safety of hyperspace.

The countdown timer on the ship was approaching zero, only a minute left. The commander sent a message to his family on Selvaris with his final reamaining time. As the timer reached thirty seconds, Drabib thought he heard someone enter the bridge. He looked around, but didn't see anything. Suddenly a blaster bolt hit him in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The last thing he saw was a man disabling the self-destruct as the timer reached 0. The ship stayed intact, under the control of the greedy ass-hole Mortati.

With word of Mortati's dissapearance circulating, an Imperial Star Destroyer, dispatched from Cardia, moves in for the purposes of "securing" the shipyards here.

In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

This shipyards fully under imperial command, were not forgotten. Givgen their realitive lack of business, as well as their remotness, they were deemed prefect for some of the more interesting ships to be added to the imperial fleet. It was for this reason Lt. tk-051 sent the orders written out by tk-117 before his shoreleave.

The estimates for the ships needing to be rebuilt began streaming in. Luckly this shipyard had continue to produce ships to fill the gaps that had been made at gromas as well as future gaps in the fleet formation.

Two Black Sun agents, designated R3-N0 and RU-I]3 by their codes stroll into the command center for the shipyards at Krayiss II. The former has a spikey hair-cut and wields a modified double ended force pike. The latter is tough, imposing, and also bald. Despite their casual air, both have hardened looks around the eyes, suggesting they were not to be messed with.

"Yo," the first announces, walking up to the receptionist. "We're here to see the local commander. We have papers for him." He presents some half-forged, official looking documents, flashing them briefly to the flustered security guards and desk personnel. "There's been a change in ownership, again. We represent Lord Daisaku, who is taking over this place again. We are legitimate businessmen, so we don't want to have to break any legs while waiting to see the commander."

A short time later, agent R3-N0 and his companion present the local imperial boss with papers obtained from a commanding Moff. The Moff was bribed with several illicit drugs and Twi'lek pleasure slaves obtained at a bargain price from Black Sun's interest in Curst Slave Trades, Ltd. With that, he laid out the paperwork for Black Sun to once more take control of the shipyards, provided they paid their bribes... taxes, rather, to the Imperials.

Soon, the shipyards start producing for Black Sun again alongside the Imperials (who are now paying to produce ships there- with healthy kickbacks to said Moff) with covert ships for smuggling, slave running, and other illicit activities, as well as some heavy firepower to back up their deals.

(Edit 10/23/08)

The shipyards secured, the Black Sun elite operatives leave them in control of their other associates, having large quantities of ships spun out for Black Sun's personal use.

Hail Daisaku!

The Imperials at courscant noticing that their book keeping was a bit off, grew tired of the extra pay to produce their own ships. A single Imperial task force was sent to investigate. Upon arriving with a Single Star Destroyer in system, the Imperial commandos that are dispatched quickly scout out the area, and make a report both the the star destroyer and to courscant.

Given how the Imperial commandos had been deployed in secret, there was no indication that anything was amiss, save perhaps the Star destroyer in system. Not that it should come to any surprise, as the shipyard did indeed still produce ships for the Empire, abet at a higher cost than what should be.

When orders were transmitted back to the Imperial commandos, they began to make moves. Their goals to make the ship yard both legally in the hands of the Empire again, as well as Militarily. In a Wartime situation, the Empire had no time to play games with a criminal organization. An organization whose greed seemed to be staggering beyond belief.

Quietly they began their work, the loudest noise, wasn't the replacement of documents, the subjugated of clearly corrupt workers, or the securing of the site. It was simply the assassination of a Moff, that clearly had eyes to big for his head. Naturally a new and far more trust worthy moff would be installed the moment the place was firmly secure. In an attempt to keep all suspicion off, a new and rather massive order was placed, for the building of spacestations.

A fleet of New Republic warships emerged out of hyperspace over the Imperial-held world of Krayiss II. The world had a seasoned past in its long history, but now the Empire held it, and that was a fact that Admiral Onderin Starlisk was intent on changing.

The Empire had spent little time or effort fortifying this world, so if there was going to be a battle over it, the Empire would have to send a fleet. Otherwise, it would be an operation of only a few hours before they could take over and perhaps head for another target. Honestly, Onderin had little preference. Taking a planet was ideal, but so was knocking an Imperial fleet out the picture.

Here was what he had brought with him:

New Republic Command Group:

1 Star Defender command ship (1 element), the Inevitable

9 MC90a Star Cruisers (3 elements)

10 Lancer frigates

2 Interdictor cruisers

5 Quasar-Fire carriers

(27 ships total)

It was a huge, powerful fleet with several Star Cruisers and large complement of fighters. It would take a strong Imperial force to hold out for anything but a short time against its power. The Interdictor cruisers were presently powered down, offering Imperial forces the chance to flee should they so choose.

"Alright," Onderin ordered from the bridge of his newly-completed flagship. "Close in on the Imperial installation. Prepare for bombardment. Set up a perimeter so that we can't be caught between an incoming force and the planet. I want some space. Watch the space lanes, and give me some fighter cover."

His orders were carried out efficiently. This fleet got the best of the best when it came to talent.

Although the Imperials on Krayiss II, knew they could not hold out against the fleet the Republic had brought to their world, they knew there was something they could do to help. As Onderins forces began to set up their perimeter, the base planet-side tracked their movements and beamed their current locations to the nearest Imperial planet, with a message to relay the coordinates and positions to any incoming Imperial fleets.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Once more Marcus watched as the blue of hyperspace suddenly reverted to the darkness of real space. But unlike a usual trip through the void, Marcus did not pay attention to the sparkling stars that now surrounded him. He did not watch the blue fade from those stars as his ship now sped through space. Instead his focus was on the enemy ships that now lay before him. Opening channels to all the ships in his battle group, Marcus gave general orders before turning command of the ships over to their individual captains.

"All vessel, raise shields and divert power from the rear to forward deflectors. Launch all fighters. All elements move to your assigned targets and begin attacking as soon as you are within range. Pilots, good luck. Close Channel."

Marcus watched as thousands of fighters literally poured from his ships. He watched as the glow of their engines list up the bridge, almost like a second sun had been born right in front of them. As his vessels neared the Republic fleet, he watched as crimson and emerald lances of energy leapt from the Imperial ships. He held onto the order to fire missiles, the Admiral wanted to save those for a closer shot, when he knew each missile would result in a direct hit. The young Imperial crossed his arms over his chest as he imagined the battle in his head. He knew the best laid plans never made it past the first shot, but he hoped perhaps this one would. His XO turned to him with grim determination.

"It's a good thing the planet was able to send those coordinates. Gave up a real edge, didn't it sir."

Marcus gave the Lieutenant and a smirk before turning his attention back to the enemy before him. Yes the intel they had received was good. Instead of coming right in front of Onderin fleet, he had used some good old fashioned common sense, and some tricky navigation, to emerge above the Republics vessels. Now his ships were in prime firing position above the fleet. It would take time for Onderins vessels to maneuver into the best position to counter-attack.

Onderin Starlisk was pacing the bridge and witnessed the Imperial fleet exiting hyperspace without sensors being necessary. Of course, the numbers were called out as soon as the forces showed up, and he quickly moved to the holographic tactical layout so that he could get a good sense of what he was up against. Frankly, he was glad that the Empire had sent something to fight for Krayiss--it meant that the Empire actually did care about its holdings enough to not succumb entirely to complacency.

At any rate, he sized up the forces against him. There was some new-design Star Destroyer serving as the command ship, but otherwise there wasn't a whole lot there that could stand up to the impressive array of Star Cruisers he had at his disposal. It was possible that they could be outmaneuvered due to the Republic's lesser numbers, but the quality of his vessels and the fact that they were already above their target, meaning that the Empire would need to take the offensive to pry them away, meant that the situation was tactically favorable.

The Empire had come in above his chosen plane, but that wasn't a big deal. He ordered the formation modified to meet the incoming threat with a broad wall of cruisers. It would take a few minutes, but it wasn't as though if a cruiser came under fire it would be destroyed before the move was completed. MC90a's were some of the toughest ships in the galaxy, with redundant shield generators and an extremely robust outlook on replacing them in the middle of combat.

"Take the Inevitable ahead to draw some fire away from the left flank," he ordered. As tough as the MC90a's were, his flagship was far tougher, and by taking it into the fire zone, he could let it take a few hits that some of the more vulnerable ships couldn't.

He also noticed something about the ships the Imperials had arrayed against him. Almost every single vessel had some sort of warhead launcher. He was guessing that this was deliberate, and it would mean that once the two sides closed, there would be missiles flying around. Onderin didn't particularly care to get hit by barrages of missiles, so he formulated a quick plan. "Keep the Lancers close. Launch all fighters. Send E-wings, X-wings and K-wings to dogfight and hit capital ships, but keep plenty of A-wings back. I want them intercepting warheads very actively."

An A-wing screen was set up in very short order. Along with the advanced targeting capabilities of the Lancer frigates, they should be adequate to greatly reduce the number of warheads that would sneak in and impact shields and hull.

"Power up an Interdictor cruiser. I also want the K-wings to focus first on the Venator Star Destroyers. Give them plenty of escort." Venator-class Destroyers were relics from the Clone Wars and Onderin had no idea why the Empire would still have them in service except for their large load of starfighters. With superior E-wing support, the K-wings would make short work of them.

Finally, the Admiral spoke to Hirolaah. "I think you have an appointment aboard the Imperial flagship. Take whatever troops you need." I'm not sure who's in charge over there, but whoever it is won't like these wookiees... he thought with a slight smile.

10 Meteor-class Q-Carriers, 10 Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing star fighters and 10 StarViper-class attack platforms (30 ships) shot out of hyperspace a decent distance from the fighting and hovered a safe distance from the squabble.

From his Alpha 3 Nimbus, Jaraht attempted to contact the man who'd contacted Mandalore.

A crackling sound ushered in the complete silence of Jaraht's ship for a few seconds before a mechanized armor vocalization sounded throughout.

"This is Jaraht, Clan lord of the Mandalorian clan Skirata, we have brought 300 Mandalorian troops in transports and a fair amount of starfighters in effort to assist. Tell us where we need to be and we'll be there..." The comm line stayed open, but the clan lord was no longer talking, waiting and wondering if a reply would come...

Hirolaah made a quick adjustment to his own Wookiee Slug-Thrower, and then made sure that the rest of his platoon was doing the same. He knew that once word got out that a full platoon of Wookiee's were aiding the Republic military might, more would slowly join. While the overall goal was to make sure that the Republic won a lot of victories so that Blacksun would allow for Kashyyyk to make a full signing with the Republic, he would also accept a strong Wookiee presence within the Republic's military. Taking only a moment to look out the viewport of the Inevitable to see the rest of the fleet deployed all about, the Wookiee knew that action of his platoon would soon be seen.

<< We're about to have the call of war upon us! While I am your Kashyyyk General, my rank is not official with the Republic. Obey whatever orders that are given to you, and carry them out with the same swiftness that you would with being apart of the Kashyyyk Honor Guard! >>

Suddenly, the holding room that his platoon was stationed at erupted with a chorus of loud growls and howls and each Wookiee let out a personal war cry. Hirolaah looked once more out the view port. Hirolaah then received a transmission from Admiral Starlisk giving him his first mission under the Republic.

"I think you have an appointment aboard the Imperial flagship. Take whatever troops you need."

Hirolaah turned around to address his men.

<< Alright men, to the boarding crafts. We need to give the good Admiral a new Star Destroyer. >>

Hirolaah then made sure he followed his troops out of the room and on board one of the many boarding crafts that would soon descend upon the Star Destroyer like hawkbats over their prey. It didn't take long for them to leave to security of the Inevitable and into space. Hirolaah was no where near a view port, so his ability to see the battlefield, so it didn't matter what the danger was, as he was confident that the pilot of the boarding craft would guide them in with minimal damage to the crew. Although, for added security, he acknowledged the pilot.

<< See if you can get a Quasar-Fire carrier or two to guide us in. They might help draw fire away from us, as well as deal out some damage to the Destroyer. >>

Dread 5 standing by!

Lieutenant Ty quickly accelerated his fighter to take his respective place in the formation of Dread Wing. He could hear some slight chatter through his helmets com channel as the TIE Defenders quickly made their way toward the oncoming rush of enemy fighters. The young Imperial pilot adjusted the inertia compensators as he prepared to enter real combat for the first time. Although he was in essence a rookie to the squadron, he was ready respected as one of the top pilots on the ship. During the travel through hyperspace, he had been teased by many of other battle hardened pilots as to how long he would last in his first true engagement against the Republic. He had taken the jokes with laughter and a smile, but deep down he wondered how many of those jokes might end up being true by day's end.

As Dread leader began to issue orders, Ty adjusted his deflector shields to maximum power forward as well as adjusting his weapon system to fire in single blasts from each cannon instead of in pairs or a quadruple blast. Although this made each shot weaker, it gave him a higher rate of fire which Ty preferred. He only hoped this was not the mistake which cost him his life this day. He heard his commander give orders to spread power to the deflector shields over all areas of the fighter after the first passing. Nodding only to himself, Ty kept that in mind. He knew the reputation of Imperial pilots among the Republic, that they were of lesser skill and their ships of even lesser value, but today the Republic would choke on those words.

As the hundreds of TIE Defenders neared the approaching enemy fighters, Ty closed his eyes and allowed his breathing to slow. Taking in one last deep breath, Ty opened his eyes as he slowly exhaled. And the fighters were among them. Ty squeezed down on the trigger as he sent emerald lances of pure energy into the swarm that was the Republics fighters. He watched as blasts were absorbed by shields of dozens of fighters as he blew through the ranks. He could see E-Wings firing their triple blasters, each hoping to score a kill off the Imperial pilots. He watched as X-wings blew by his cockpit, each with their namesake S-foils in their locked positions giving them quite a wide firing range. Ty was well versed on the history of the X-Wing fighter. Next to certain individuals within the Rebellion/Republic, the X-Wing could easily be held up as a symbol of that organization. For this reason, all Imperial pilots took great pride in any X-Wing kills scored during a battle. And then the young Imperial pilot saw the true enemy of this assault. The flying tanks known as K-Wings trailed slowly behind their fighter escorts. Ty knew these ships were the ones that held the weapons that would attack the Imperial capital vessels. Holding down the trigger on his control yoke, Ty watched as lance after lance of emerald energy crashed into the shields of a K-Wing. Quickly switching to his missile tubes, the young lieutenant launched a concussion missile and watched as the flying tank went up in flames. Pulling hard on his control yoke, Ty climbed banked up and to the right, taking the time to adjust his deflector shields to cover his entire ship. Before diving back into the battle, he watched as both Imperial and Republic fighters were destroyed before his eyes. Narrowing his eyes beneath the dark pilots helmet he wore, the young Imperial plummeted back into the fray, targeting an E-Wing that was on the tail of a fellow Dread pilot.

From his distance, he could barely see the fighters moving against one another. The young Christophian leaned forward, placing his hands on the railing in front of the viewport, bringing himself just a little closer to the battle that was ending the lives of so many loyal Imperial pilots. Without turning his attention from the fighter battle, he spoke swiftly and with authority.

”œOpen an encrypted channel to the Daragon,Hydian, and Ison. Have the captains' fire on the Inevitable with full power at maximum range. ”œ

”œYes Admiral.”

Admiral Starlisk continued to pace the bridge as the battle continued to develop. The first thing that he needed to address at this time was the arrival of another group of vessels. They appeared to be merely starfighters and troop transports, but when they were identified to be StarVipers and Meteor Q-carriers, he knew immediately to what group they belonged. The Mandalorians were getting involved, and it meant that these thirty small ships were actually far more dangerous than he would originally have thought.

"Sir, the newly arrived vessels are in contact with the Imperial forces." A report came in.

Blast it, Onderin thought. I thought they didn't want a war. It was a ploy, and I fell for it because I didn't want to fight them. This time, though, I won't hold back. "Very well," he responded. "I want a wing of E-wings out there as soon as possible. Don't let them join the battle. Use proton torpedoes at will to make it happen."

It would be a bit of a drain on the number of starfighters he had in the fray against the Empire, but space superiority when it came to dogfights had always been in Republic favor--he had more capital ships than the Empire and more fighters, especially thanks to the fighter-laden Quasar-Fire carriers. Right now, he could spare the ships.

And so six squadrons of E-wings were pulled from their battles and sent careening out toward the Mandalorian forces, which were on the very edge of the system thanks to the Republic's active Interdictor cruiser. It would take them some time to get involved, and the E-wings would meet them with well more than half the distance still to go, thanks to the snubfighters' speed.

The Admiral turned his attention back to the main part of the battle, where his flagship was taking a beating from the Imperial forces, which were clearly focused on bringing him down. Indeed, the Inevitable's shields were getting a bit weak on one side. "Pull back behind the Apollo and Journey," he ordered, naming two MC90a's, each of which had their Lancer-class escorts pulled in tight so that each could protect the other from the threats that alone they couldn't handle. The Inevitable would only need a few minutes to start getting new shield generators in place, and then it'd be like a fresh vessel. The Empire would have to devote Star Destroyers to the pursuit in order to change that....

But as it was, it seemed like the Star Destroyers were pulling back and a horde of support vessels were filling the fire zone. That doesn't make sense, Onderin thought. Without those Star Destroyers getting involved, the Empire's vessels will get pulverized. Still, he would be foolish to fail to take advantage of the Empire's mistake. "Time for a push," he said. "Move our line forward and get in close with those support vessels."

They wouldn't last long against the vastly superior firepower and shield arrays of the Star Cruisers, and closing with the support craft would mean that the Star Destroyers couldn't even get involved with their long-range guns because of friendly fire. Onderin didn't have to worry about moving into the fighter cloud because of space superiority and his Lancer support.

Furthermore, moving forward would give Hirolaah and his boarding transports the cover they would need to break the line... and then all they'd need to do is evade the Star Destroyers' sluggish weaponry long enough to board.

There is nothing good in war. There is good in why we fight them.

Within moments their orders were given and all fighters and transports broke into formation, firing their engines up rapidly heading toward the Imperial flagship as if their preordained legacy was written with blood upon their hulls. Each ship, although separated in design, gathered equivalent speed and shot en mass toward it, prepping the transports for dock.

Their arrival had not gone unnoticed however by the Republic that seemed to burn under their added pressure, adding the stress of rapid E-Wing torpedoes upon the line of fighters that took cover for the transports. Each shot catapulted for the vital transports and their cargo, but each one was absorbed by another fighter as the line of Q carriers managed to cross behind the fighters, gaining further their intended destination. The mass of fighters that stood their ground to give the transports time drove all power to their shields and voided any weapon contact. A chunk of these fighters would stall their engines as others moved down the line to keep the wall moving.

The 20 fighters, 10 of a heavy variant class and 10 of a smaller variant class were lit up in seconds as the line of carriers started to crawl forward in space, their heavy armor making it difficult to travel as fast as the other fighters around them.

It was a long and arduous process, but in the end They took the oncoming proton torpedoes with utter devastation to themselves, standing their respective grounds and managing to fend off fire from the transports long enough to get all Mandos, save for 120 of 4 transports, on board the Imperial boat. The ultimate loss of Mandalorian flying power stood at approximately 7 Star Vipers gone, 8 Alpha -3 Nimbus gone, and 4 transport floated as debris within the field of battle. ((total ship loss - 19/30))

Once on board, the mesh of armor that gleamed under the light of hangar moved rapidly under stress of further fire that rocked the flagship, but each Mandalorian managed to get through the man hangar entrance and into the ship's main thoroughfare. There was a team of thirty Mandos that seemed to hover though, hiding out of plain site, about the entrance to the hangar within easy access of another vessel, because their mission although similar to the others, was quite different. Jaraht was of these 30 and ordered the other 150 to go to the Admiral and follow his every command ((meaning you can control them yourself Reilly)). If the Mandalorians were going to come out of this with their due compensation it was not going to be foolishness that brought them down.

Meanwhile, the fighters that were left, moved in rapidly to join the tie vessels to assist the Imperials in their efforts and lit up the area with their own bouts of energy fire, now directing power equivalently to both shields and weapons, seeming to ignore the pre-existing heavy fire from the E-wings although that was a ready problem. Since there were so little of the Mandalorian fighters left against a huge resistance of E-Wings, the Mandalorians, instead of trying to fight their way into the swarm, began doing their best to lose their pursuers within the massive maw of steel that consumed the aerial space battlefield..

The entire spectacle was awe inspiring and as Mando after Mando flew past the Republic flagship under heavy fire, their hearts burned upon the flames of war. Their eyes glowed with excitement and each one knew from that point that they would willingly give their life at the behest of the fierce tides of this war.

Jaraht panted heavily through a broad grin and although they were themselves in a fairly awkward point, Jaraht made sure that the squad would not be noticed by any and all who might try to board the ship. This was so they could move out later when their secret benefactor provided the info they needed. Their objectives were tentative and would only act should some phase of the war happen, but they wouldn't let their positions be jeopardized, by a few boarding parties...

The imperial fleet at Krayiss II received advance comms from its reinforcements in Invictus element and modified their grav well projectors accordingly. Undoubtedly alrms began blaring and shouts of surprise went up when three Nebula class star destroyers and twenty lancer frigates appeared with pinpoint precision to rain down fiery wrath on the weakened shields of the Inevitable. The star destroyers moved to engage the flagship and deployed Predator TIEs and missile boats while the Lancers took up station to shred any fighters insane enough to come to the flagship's aid. Comm crews jammed any outbound transmissions to prevent any warning of the Sith's arrival to the field.

Dagon reached out with the Force and bonded with the gunnery systems of the Invictus element and guided their fire, surging the power of the dark side into their blows. Before Dagon had risen to become Dark Lord of the Sith, he had been an imperial R&D scientist, and he understood ships inherently. He knew how they worked, where they weak, where to press and where to focus. With inhuman accuracy the ships hammered down on the already weakened shields at the points of most drain.

When Dagon could sense that the shields were ready to buckle, he ordered a concentrated missile strike on the cracks, sending reverberations through the ship as the shield was overloaded. The window would be brief with the crew undoubtedly readying the redundant shield generators for placement, but the opportunity for boarding was now availible.

Boarding shuttles were launched, loaded with Darkwatch veterans, Nova Darktroopers, and Venom, Spider, and Drake Division troops along with Sith ready for battle. Impacting along the hull of the ship, they cut through the bulkheads and popped smoke, using optics to designate targets and filling the halls with concussion grenades and plasma decksweepers. All of the troops were equipped with vaccuum ready armor and mag boots in case the rebel commander tried to vent the ship. The strike forces all knew their targets and were prepared to hit them hard. It would be some time before any support could be called in, so every man had to show his worth. The battle for the Inevitable had begun.

OOC(( Invictus Element consists of three nebula class SDs with Predator TIEs and Missile boats. Two additional elements of ten Lancers each.

For those of you who don't remember here's the information on the imperial veteran divisions.

Venom: CQB specialists with heavy armor, shields, jet packs, scatter guns, fletchette weaponry and disruptors.

Spider: Urban combat specialists with carbines and laser torches and heavy explosives for making holes. Have light shields

Drake: Plasma thrower troops with incendiary explosives that excel at getting rid of troops in tight corridors. Heavily armored but use portable shield walls instead of armor shields.

Also, if you're a Sith that came with Dagon and not Alora, you're on the Inevitable.

The new elements at the battle are temporarily under the imperial commander's jurisdiction, so if the empire loses they are accountable for losses.
