  1. Adenna breathed deeply the forest air as the four of them made their journey to the temple on Tython. Glathos turned out to be quite friendly on their journey. He was a more senior Knight than Adenna, but treated them all with respect. They had landed in Ashla and were making the trek through the forest surrounding the temple. Adenna enjoyed it here because this is where she did most of her training with Dahar. The forest was peaceful, as it normally was, and refreshing. The light side was so strong here that it was almost intoxicating. "We aren't far," she said to the girls. Glathos was a little ahead helping guide them along the easiest path. Adenna was careful to keep a close eye on Ariana as she might have issues in a forest like this with her vision. "The temple is nice and peaceful, a perfect place to rest and refresh ourselves. When you are ready, we will train just like I did. I plan on making you sweat out here just as much as I did when I was a Padawan." She chuckled and looked back at Ariana. "Come on, Ariana. When we get there, you will have a room of your own and a job to make sure you are able to stay for as long as you want. Plus, there may be people there that can help you more than I can."
  2. Adenna was not angry, but simply smiled, "I know, but that is okay. When we get home, we will have to see about you making a real lightsaber of your own, not just a training saber." Later that day, Adenna got a message from a Jedi Knight named Glathos who had arrived to pick them up. She gathered Ariana and checked Sandy out of the hospital before going to meet them. Waiting for them in one of the hangar bays was a cream colored Bothan who had a fairly new looking freighter. At least it would be a pleasant ride to Tython. Since Vos was not with them, she had decided to return to the Jedi retreat where she knew Sandy would not only be safe, but be surrounded by the light side and plenty of Jedi who could help. Plus, she could get Ariana a job working in the Temple so she could have a place to live and be safe.
  3. Adenna let him go. It wasn't so much that she didn't want him around, it was that she didn't believe he truly wanted to be around. He didn't want to be guided or taught, he wanted to do his own thing under his own conditions. He couldn't follow instructions unless they were forced upon him on pain of death and that simply wasn't the Jedi way. He wanted control of things instead of giving control over to the Force. He was stubborn and defiant--definitely carryovers from his Sith education and harsh upbringing. There was only so far that such a student could be directed before they were pushed away. She didn't expect an unthinking pupil, but she did expect one that wasn't fighting her every step of the way and constantly dodging questions and muddling the truth. She didn't think he wanted to learn the Jedi path so as much as simply acquire new skills to make him more powerful. It was another carryover from his Sith way of thinking. He wanted to add to his collection of powers, not to actually learn and be guided. If she pushed him further, it would result in a fight that one of them might not come out of. With a sad shake of her head, she turned around and left the lobby to check on Sandy. The girl might be emotional and wild, but she was too young to know any better. Vos did not have that excuse. If he could ever get past the defiance and secrecy that held him fast in their grips, she would welcome him back. For now, he couldn't be taught, at least not by her. She wouldn't waste either of their time.
  4. His answer was as she expected: vague and mysterious. Adenna let out a sigh of frustration. What more could she expect from one raised a Sith. "And what are your plans? Are you going to head off again or are you going to try to be a Jedi? So far, you have mostly fought me at every turn."
  5. "What were you doing on Tatooine?" Adenna asked. She almost didn't because she doubted he would tell her much if anything. It was not in his nature to be anything but cryptic.
  6. "Why did you come back? I thought you hated my presence," Adenna said. She wasn't quite sure what to make of him now. She had planned on seeing if she could get back to Tython with Sandy, but she dared not take Vos there, especially not after he left them. As was her original fear, one of the Masters would have to clear him before she could ever trust him again. The only other place she knew of was Gala. She had heard of plans to have at least a small outpost there before leaving Tython last.
  7. Adenna was in the process of helping heal a burn victim when she felt a familiar presence in the back of her mind. She had never expected to hear from him again, not after he left to pursue his own agenda. It took a good deal of discipline not to break her healing efforts. It took a few more minutes, but when she was done, the burn victim was out of danger and she was able to leave to track him down. She reached out to him and directed him toward her. It appeared he was already seeking her which made it easier. She went to the hospital lobby and munched on some food to help restore her energy while she waited for him to arrive. When he did, he didn't look much worse for the wear. She quickly appraised him and took note of the absence of his lightsaber on his belt. She was sure that there was some sort of story behind that. "I did not expect to see you again," she said in a frosty voice.
  8. The last few days didn't allow Adenna much sleep. When she wasn't busy healing or counseling Sandy, she was healing others around the hospital. While her Padawan was her primary concern, she felt obligated to at least help other patients as much as she could as a way to pay the hospital back for caring for Sandy. After all, she didn't have much money to give. That was fine and all, but it left her perpetually exhausted. She was losing weight and constantly had bags under her eyes. She didn't mind though, it was, in her mind, penance for letting Sandy get captured in the first place. She would work herself as hard as necessary to make up for those that were killed on Thalassia and for the unspeakable hardships that Sandy suffered as result of being captured. She saw the CoreSec agent she had helped heal a few times before she left with another man in armor. By that time, Sandy was almost completely healed physically and it was growing hard to justify staying any longer. She sent word to the Jedi to have someone pick the three of them up. "Sandy," she said when they were alone in the girl's room, "I have sent word to the Jedi to pick us up. We can go to safety with other Jedi to help us for as long as you need. When you are ready, and only when you are ready will we resume your training."
  9. Sandy cried for as long as she needed to cry. Adenna didn't stop her or try to interfere beyond sending whatever comfortable thoughts she could at her traumatized Padawan. While she did so, she quietly stroked the blonde girl's hair and was just there for her. She was very grateful to Ariana for not trying to interfere. The girl may have left at some point or she might have stayed, Adenna didn't know, but she did know that she left the two alone. Adenna felt almost bad about having the girl wait around for them with nothing to do. It had to be awkward to see this scene. As bad as she might have felt, though, she didn't change it. Right now, Sandy was her primary concern. In time, Sandy grew tired and faded into sleep. She had to be weak after the injuries and treatments. The worst of her injuries had been healed either by bacta or by the Force at least to the point where they were no longer a threat to her, so Adenna wasn't concerned for her health. She tucked the girl in and let her sleep. With Sandy out for the near future, Adenna had time to address a few other things. The first of which was what to do with Ariana. She noticed that she had a message from one of the CoreSec agents. With Sandy found and in no danger, they had left the planet to return to Coruscant. Before they did, they had been kind enough to rent a hotel room nearby for the rest of the week. Adenna let Ariana know where it was and said she was more than welcome to use it. The keycard was under Adenna's name, so she called the hotel and authorized Ariana to collect a copy of the card just in case. Adenna didn't hold any control over Ariana so she would let her choose what she wanted to do. If she wanted to stay in the hospital, that was her choice. She could roam the city or even leave if she choose. It wasn't that Adenna didn't care, it was just that she had no reason to hold the girl against her will or force her to do anything. The second problem she had to deal with was this agent Ad'Goran that had contacted Sandy. From what little she could glean from the hospital staff, she gathered that the agent was a woman and that she had been brought in with Sandy by Commissioner Fett. Adenna figured the two knew each other either from captivity or from the rescue because she had contacted Sandy. That meant that Adenna wanted to see what could be done for the woman, especially since the sensations she was getting from the staff was that she was in bad shape. The doctors didn't want to let her in to see the sleeping agent, but Adenna persuaded them through words and a little of the Force that she was a healer and could help where they could not. They didn't seem to like it, but they were too tired to resist any further and didn't want to start any trouble with someone wearing a lightsaber. Adenna went to the woman's bed and received a quick rundown from one of the nurses about her situation. Toxic drugs were all through her system and she had been beaten nearly as badly as Sandy. Her recent surgery had left her healing, but still out of commission. There wasn't any true danger to her condition that Adenna could see, but that didn't mean infection or some other complication wouldn't develop. After probing the woman through her Force senses, she began to formulate a plan for healing her. The first thing she did was begin stimulating the newly implanted organs so they would fully graft with the rest of her body and function normally. That didn't take long as the doctors had already applied some sort of odd mixture of bacta and ryll directly around the grafts in some sort of dissolving patches. With that complete, she began focusing on the toxins and harmful drugs in the woman's system. She could induce them to exit the body via sweat so she did. It took time to gather the chemical compounds and force them to work their way out of the agent's body, but it was far faster than allowing nature to take its course. She stayed with the woman for three hours focusing on removing the toxins and ensuring the organ replacements didn't get rejected or infected. After that time, she could heal no more. The strain of the earlier healing work on Sandy and this was exhausting. Plus, Adenna wanted to be with Sandy when she woke, so she had to leave. She told the doctors of what progress she had made and let them run their scans and make adjustments to their treatments. While they did that, Adenna returned to Sandy's room, pulled up a chair to her bedside, and waited.
  10. Adenna frowned slightly at Sandy's extremely formal tone. It was completely unlike her and was edged with anger. It was understandable, but not good at all. Before she could even consider how to address this, Sandy broke down into tears. That was more like the Sandy she knew. The frown on her face vanished and she guided the weeping girl to the edge of her bed so she could sit. If she stood for much longer like this, Adenna was afraid she would collapse to the ground and that wouldn't help the situation at all. She sat on the bed next to her Padawan and wrapped an arm around a heaving frame that was even thinner than before. "It's okay," she said softly, "just let it all out. Nobody is angry with you or blames you." Another nurse, or perhaps an orderly or someone came in and left a brief message. Adenna didn't know who the person mentioned was and now was not the exact moment for her to find out. She was here for Sandy first and foremost, all other considerations were secondary right now. She wouldn't toss the girl to the side when she needed help so badly.
  11. Adenna was not exactly pleased to be separated from Sandy again, but it wouldn't do to start a fight with the nursing staff. Instead, she waited outside and said a few things to Ariana. The other girl seemed ill at ease, but Adenna couldn't guess why. She knew so little of the other that she had no idea what would make her uncomfortable. It could be as simple as not liking hospitals or having a fear of Twi-leks. She could understand the hospital part as they sometimes unsettled her even before she was connected to the Force and could sense the suffering and even death. Of late, though, she had grown used to the feeling of death from the battle on Thalassia as well as being around so many hospitals while healing. As soon as she could tend to Sandy, Adenna vowed to find some way to help out Ariana. Right now, though, she needed to focus on her still injured Padawan. Beyond her physical injuries, she was likely to have psychological ones. Adenna couldn't imagine what she had gone through under the slaver's not so tender care. At last, they were done and Sandy had showered. Adenna went back in and smiled at the blonde girl. "We were on your trail, trying to get you back," she said. "CoreSec offered some help as well which is surprising after how many of them died on Thalassia. We were in orbit of Tatooine when we got word that you had been rescued and brought here. Vos stayed behind on Tatooine to pursue something that drew his attention." She gestured to Ariana, "This is Ariana, a young woman in need of help who came along for the ride. As soon as you are well enough to move, I hope to help get her a job in the Temple on staff so she can have a safe place to live and plenty of food. "Is there anything you need or want? I am not yet done healing you, but before I help you go to sleep for the next session, I wanted to talk to you for a bit and see what I can do for you."
  12. Healing her Padawan was not an easy task, but Adenna was willing to do it. She focused on the most severe issues then worked her way down to those that were less important. The bruises and minor cuts she left as those would simply drain her too much right now and would heal over time on their own. Perhaps when the girl woke and was feeling a little better, she could teach her how to heal herself some. Ariana came and went, but remained silent. As the day went on late into the night, Adenna was surprised that the other remained silent. Whatever her past was, she definitely knew how to remain invisible. At this moment, that was exactly what was needed. The time would come when Adenna could turn her attention to the girl and find some way to help her out. Perhaps the Jedi Order could hire her to help with the daily chores and maintenance of the Temple. It would at least keep her off the streets, give her some money, and let her be around people who were friendly and kind. Late into the night, Sandy regained consciousness. Adenna was still leaning over her healing various wounds and injuries as she did and sensed the shift in the Force. By the time she pulled herself out of the healing trance, Sandy's eyes were open and she managed to say one word, even though it was weak. Adenna smiled down at the girl and said in a soft voice, "Don't call me 'master,' remember?" She had a smile on her face and sent more soothing emotions at the girl to keep her calm.
  13. As soon as their ship landed in the caves of Ryloth's habitable belt, Adenna began racing toward the hospital with as much grace as she could. She paused only to make sure Ariana didn't get left behind. She could now feel her Padawan, but wasn't exactly happy with what she sensed. Sandy had to deal with a lot of pain, suffering, and traumatic memories. She expected that and was already thinking of ways to help alleviate the trauma. It took a little bit of time and a Force mind trick or two to get the hospital staff to grant them access to a patient with which they had no familial relationship to, but they did at last. Sandy was on a hospital bed with various IVs pumping nutrients and medications into her. She looked absolutely horrible with brown and yellow bruises and slowly healing cuts over her face and arms. Adenna couldn't see what was beneath her hospital gown, but it was probably just as bad. The poor girl had clearly been through a lot. Tears came to Adenna's eyes as she looked over the medical charts. She didn't understand it all, but she saw reports of brutal beatings, a stabbing in the chest, massive lacerations over her back and shoulders, broken bones, and cuts all over. Some of them had began to heal under the influence of bacta treatment, but it was far from healed. The hospital would only put her in bacta for emergency treatment since she didn't have any money to pay for more. That meant that Adenna would have a lot of work to do. She was more than happy to heal the girl, so that was no problem. She carefully stroked the unconscious girl's cheeks and began stretching out her Force senses to get a sense of what needed to be worked on first. After a few moments, she figured she would tackle the wounds to the girl's shoulder that had become infected and were not yet healed. "This is going to take a while, Ariana," she said to the girl. "Why don't you take some money and get something to eat and drink for the two of us. I will need a lot of energy to heal and will eat whenever I can, but I ask that you don't let anyone interrupt me when I am in the healing trance." Adenna pulled a chair up next to the bed and placed her hands on Sandy's shoulder. She slipped into a trance and began pouring soothing energy into the wound as she worked on healing the damage done.
  14. Adenna nodded at Ariana's decision. "Very well, gather whatever you have and I will do the same. We have about five minutes before their ship is able to dock." After getting everything they had, namely clothes, they boarded the CoreSec ship and detached. Adenna was saddened to see Vos go like this, but knew that if she stood in his way, it would only anger him. Best to let him go and hope he returned one day than to drive him off forever. As soon as they were secure on the other ship, the agents plotted a course to Ryloth and jumped into hyperspace.
  15. "It isn't that I don't believe you can interpret the Force, I just don't know which side of the Force you are interpreting," Adenna whispered to herself after he had left. He was right, though. She didn't trust him because she knew he was holding back. He was quick to anger and not used to giving the truth. Someone other than a new Jedi Knight should have guided him, but she was all he had at the moment. She didn't like this, not one bit. Deep down, she knew that if she felt something had to be done, she wouldn't let things stand in her way. If Vos truly believed he needed to be on that planet, then she would be as wrong to stop him as he was to keep her from Sandy. Both of them couldn't get their way if they stayed together. She looked at the controls. While she wasn't able to fly, she wasn't an idiot. The controls were clear so she pushed down on the cancel button. She made a call to the CoreSec agents and set a few things up while Vos stewed. At last, she got up and found him meditating. She didn't like it when people interrupted her meditation, but time was of the essence if there truly was something wrong down there. "Vos, okay, if you think you have to stay, then you stay. I talked to the CoreSec agents and they agreed to take both Ariana and myself to Ryloth in their ship, assuming she wants to go. I give you custody of this ship for now until you can give it back to either myself or the Jedi Order one day." There was sorrow in her voice as she continued, "I am sorry for how this worked out, Vos. You needed a more experienced Jedi guiding you, someone better than me. Do what you need to do here and hopefully we will meet up again one day. You can always call me if you need me." With sadness, she left him and went to inform Ariana of the situation. "Ariana, Vos will be staying here to investigate something he senses on the planet. I must go to Ryloth to tend to Sandy. The CoreSec agents in the other ship agreed to take the two of there. I am not going to force you to come with me, it is your choice."
  16. Adenna frowned at him. This didn't make any sense. He had been the one pushing to find Sandy even at the cost of getting connections with CoreSec. Now, when they finally found her, he wanted to wait? "What has gotten into you?" she asked. "I can't fly the ship, so if you jump into the life pod, you will be stranding us here. Besides, you will be stranded if you take a pod down." She paused and reached out in the Force to sense Vos. "What is it, what is so important that we would leave our quarry injured in a hospital very likely needing our skills? Be completely honest with me for once."
  17. Relief flooded over her as Tobias gave her the news. She nearly kissed him in elation, but thought better of it and instead went to see the message herself. She didn't like the sound of Sandy needing to be in the hospital, but at least she was alive. Vos asked to stay which got him a curious look. "This place is full of all sorts of wrong things, I could sense it even before I went into my trance. This is Tatooine, I don't think an army could right all the wrongs going on here, much less two Jedi. We have been hunting for Sandy, now that we know where she is, we need to get there. The message said something about her being in the hospital, I want to get there as soon as possible so I can help healing her. After what she has undoubtedly been through, she will need healing of far more than just physical wounds."
  18. At last, they dropped out of hyperspace into Tatooine space. As soon as they did, Adenna slipped into a trance to begin searching for Sandy. She dipped into the part of her where the pale haired girl had taken over and searched for that link. She couldn't feel anything at first and that panicked her. Could she have missed the feeling her Padawan's death? She frantically searched the planet below, though she remained completely motionless in her trance. Nothing was there that was familiar to her. She was about to give up when she felt the faintest impressions from Sandy. She was still alive, but was not anywhere near. With a curse she normally did not let pass her lips, she woke from the trance and began trying to figure out what to do next. The Black Sun agent had set her up and she had been gullible enough to fall for it. Now, Vos would think her a fool and to make matters worse, she had dragged four CoreSec agents all the way to the Outer Rim on a fool's errand.
  19. ((For the sake of OOC time, I am going to allow for some IC time to pass to make our journey make sense and explain the situation to Ariana.)) Adenna had no problems in answering Ariana's question, but the girl scampered off before she could. Adenna shrugged and figured she could always explain after she was dried off. She waited for the girl to do so and called for her in a gentle voice. She proceeded to explain the recent battle on Thalassia and how her Padawan had been captured. She also covered the tip to Tatooine and why they were going there. She assured the girl that she would not be fighting and would stay safely on the ship. Plus, if something were to happen to the two of them, the ship was hers to sell or otherwise trade to get someplace better. After explaining things, she let Ariana know where her sleeping quarters were. Since space was not exactly abundant, Ariana would be bunking with Adenna in one of the crew cabins. There was a bunk bed of which Adenna took the top. Days passed as they flew through hyperspace. Adenna was always sure to be open to the newcomer, but didn't push.
  20. Adenna got up quickly saying, "I am sorry, I didn't want to interrupt you in the refresher." She grabbed the clothes that she had found and gave them to the girl. "They might be a bit big, but they are at least clean. You can go back into the refresher to change if you would like. I will be here if you need me."
  21. "She also doesn't have to face the evil you wrapped yourself in," said Adenna. "She gets to start in the light and hopefully will never experience the dark side firsthand except as she works to oppose its influence in the Galaxy." She waited for Ariana to finish. Right now, with plenty of time left in their journey, she didn't want to rush the girl. She probably didn't get much time to take care of herself from wherever she came from.
  22. "No," she replied with a sigh. "After all the other strays I have picked up, I have pretty much given up trying to be angry. She is a young woman who needs help and you offered it to her, for whatever reasons. I only wish that we weren't going to another possible combat situation. Losing one Padawan in battle is bad enough, but to lose this girl as well is not something I want to consider. She will be staying on this ship and well out of the action when we land, assuming that the Black Sun agent was telling the truth. This could all be one pointless chase into nowhere."
  23. Adenna had been searching the various nooks and crannies on the ship and had not even thought of looking somewhere obvious. When she did finally check the cargo hold which had been previously empty, she noticed a few new bags and a crate or two. She investigated and found a small amount of supplies including food, ammunition, and even some clothes. Clearly Vos did some shopping while she was gone, that was a good thing. She took out the clothes and noticed that while none were particularly feminine, they would suffice. All purpose utilities and a few loose traveling robes weren't going to hurt anyone much. As much as she liked her Jedi robes, she felt that it might be best to wear something different after being in them more or less for a week and a half. Even washing them one piece at a time didn't help too much and she didn't think that Tatooine would be exactly open to someone wearing Jedi robes and a lightsaber. She pulled out something that she thought just might fit her, then tried to find the smallest set for Ariana. When finished, she went to her room to change. They still had that new clothes smell, but it was better than nothing. She emerged feeling better and decided to wait in the lobby for Ariana to finish in the refresher. The poor girl had been in there for quite a long time, surely the water was cold by now. To occupy herself, Adenna plugged into the ship's computer and downloaded all the information it had on Tatooine onto her datapad. It wasn't much, but what was there she poured over as much as she could.
  24. While Vos took care of flying the ship, Adenna saw to their guest. The meal that Vos prepared was decent enough, but Ariana needed more than just food. Her clothes were a mess and she was quite frankly filthy. When they had finished, Adenna guided the girl to the refresher. "Here, get yourself cleaned up while I go look for something for you to wear. I would say to take your time, but this is a ship and the water will get cold if you are in there for more than a few minutes. It is better than nothing, though and you should feel a lot better after." She honestly didn't know if there was anything for the girl to wear. While Vos had gotten a few supplies, he hadn't acquired any additional sets of clothes, especially not some that would fit such a tiny frame. If worse came to worse, Adenna would give the girl her own outer cloak to wear until they got somewhere where they could buy some regular clothes. While she was looking for clothes, she took inventory of what all was on the ship. A few things were left behind that could be useful. No weapons, sadly, but a set of older non-Holonet capable direct line comms was a good find. Their range was limited, but they would be very useful on a planet like Tatooine where they couldn't rely on the Holonet to relay their signals. She also found a staple gun and some other tools. Adenna was no mechanic and never claimed to be, but they could possibly be viable as trade items should they encounter a situation where credits were not accepted.
  25. "How can I trust you when you keep hiding things and lying to me, especially when they relate to the Sith?" replied Adenna. She made note of the fact that he still shared a link with his former Sith master with some trepidation and wondered how far it went. Now that they had landed, she needed to get to CoreSec. Before she did that, though, she needed to get dressed. She grabbed her somewhat clean clothes and went to the refresher to change out of her dirty outer robe and into them. Leaving the dark blue outer robe behind, she emerged in her tunic and pulled out her comlink to summon a taxi. Once she was done summoning a ride, she stood outside the ship to wait for it.
