"Blast! They're on to me," ShadowFett thought. Luckily he had preset the coordinates in his hyperdrive unit so he could make a quick jump to Coruscant.

He would have to leave before the Sith attacked him. But maybe fleeing would just give them an excuse to be after him. He would have to play it like he was actually here for a different reason.

The Mandalorian opened a comm channel to the surface. "This is a bounty hunter ship called the Night of Vengeance. I am here in pursuit of the one called Jaina Jade Skywalker who was last seen with Raynuk Montar, whom I have seen above this planet."

He continued, "However, I will instead sell you the identity of the one who posted such a bounty at a reasonable price to further protect her from his or her clutches. Let's be reasonable here--I know you could use this information."

Fett remained in orbit, waiting for permission to land on the surface of the Sith world. This would be just as good as making the capture, minus the money for all the work. He would be paid, and only the poster would be dissatisfied.

Sirvani watched in intrest as some people were "floated" out of a nearby ship. She expanded her bubble of Force and tried to feel them. She could tell that they were Force-sensitive, and that some of them were fully trained. However, their presence seemed different. She connected herself to the Force and closed her eyes, once again seeing the world throught the Force.

Glancing at the people, she noticed that they were surrounded by a blue glow, rather than the orange one that surrounded John and the other sith.

Curious to discover if these people were members of the Jedi Order, she quietly made a question in her mind, knowing she'd recieve and answer from John.

Are those people Jedi?

*Raynuk smiled as the comm message came in. The ship still hadnt moved, and but now Raynuk knew much more than he needed to know. He pushed the comm button.

"Deals are for crimeloards Bounty Hunter...I am no crimelord, and neither are you. Besides, Montar hasnt been here in quite some time...im assuming your refering to his ship which is hovering in high orbit correct? That blasted ship has a preset program to return here whenever he is on a planet for an extended period of time. We havent been able to contact Montar to ask him to turn it off...Now, unless you have other buissness on the planet, I advise you to leave before the sixty headhunters reach you..."

*While he spoke, the Sith pushed the launch button that sent all sixty Headhunters hurtling to space.

"...Dont belive me? check your long range scanners...vector 46.02."

*He knew that the Headhunters would show up by now as one very large triangle on the scanners*

"Now, am I going to have to salave your ship when it falls to the planet in a fireball and see if I can recover your body? or are you gonna leave peacefully?"

ShadowFett didn't believe for a second that Raynuk wasn't on the planet. The Sith were obviously hiding something from him. However, he was hardly about to attempt taking out sixty headhunters, which soon showed up at the coordinates given to him.

He had almost no choice. He either had to leave or fight his way through three score headhunters as well as any other defenses the Sith world had. But he didn't see how he could get another shot at this. Finally he made up his mind.

Now that he was free to divert more attention to the Ogariv II, he scanned it for life forms. Finding none, he thought that there may have been some truth to the Sith's words. He fired and stuck a homing beacon to the ship, both the action and the device completely undetectable to sensors. The homing device was even camouflaged to look like a power coupling on the ship.

Then he turned, the firing looking like a natural part of his turn towards his hyperspace vector. Not only could the Sith have no way of knowing that the ship was bugged, but Fett could use it next time Raynuk went somewhere.

John's eyes snapped from the flames as the thoughts entered his mind. As he had drifted into his sparse, empty thoughts, he had not even noticed the approach of Ahriman, the Sith who trained under Abaddon. He met him ever so briefly and since then, he had known something was always odd, but he had shrugged it off.

Now, the warning signs in his head continued to blast away, but he kept his pseudo-Jedi calm. He managed a new, authentic smile while the words formed in his mind.

Yes, they are Jedi. None, I am personally familiar with. I have managed to avoid the majority of major Jedi/Sith conflicts... But the wookiee Jedi Master, he, I remember from the raid on the false Valley of the Jedi. Blckclone, he is called. The others... appear to be mostly Padawans. One, Nashtaa left the Sith for the Jedi... Tares Vortex, another powerful Master, if memory serves correctly. I apologize, but I remember few Jedi... Only Ara-Lai and Orrick.

They serve the light side, right? I've always understood it to be weak and pacificial. Why are there followers of it, then? And why would someone leave the Sith to join them, like this Nahstaa?

Sirvani was a little confused, but eager to learn. She had only heard stories of Jedi Knights when she was a baby, and didn't know much about them.

However, since they had time to spare, she decided that she'd become more familiar with her enemies.

John managed another wry smile, as his first had dissipated, when she asked her questions.

He stifled a laugh, I don't think the Jedi are neccessarily weak, it is more of a different philosophy, however many Sith would ostracize me for that statement. Defense over offense, peace and serenity over violence and passion. A follower of the Light versus one of the Dark, self-lessness over selfishness. Good over evil, an absence of conflict over power at all costs. As why would anyone leave one Order for the other, I have often pondered that question, and it seems simple... something happens; family, love, vengeance. A grand number of reasons could result in such a shift in perspective.

As a joke, he added, They are also very partial to the colors green, blue, and on occassion violet.

A smile crossing her face at his last statement, Sirvani pondered what he had said.

I think I understand. So in reality, we are not that different. We just choose different paths...or the Force chooses them for us. I think I prefer the path I'm on, mixed up a little as it may be. I desire power, but I've also found love.

Laying her head on his shoulder, she added a sly comment of her own. Besides, red goes much better with my skin tone.

John's eyes glinted lightly and he showed true emotion for the first time as she brought her head to his shoulder.

I agree... this seems so much better.

He brought his eyes this time noticing the number of Sith actually grouping together and the blaring siren in his mind calmed down some... Whatever happens... happens.

John's eyes dwindled down back into the ceremonial fires, his gaze and her's focused on the same object...

He observing the complex simplicity, she, lost in her thoughts.

As the two enjoyed the moment of romance, the Force was building the suspense, granting them the calm before the storm.

The moments dwindled on, barely changing his expression, his happiness.

Her thoughts were at first complex, but as she stared longer into the flames with John beside her, they dwindled.

The romance of the moment was not lost on her, and she moved closer to John, thinking only of her feelings toward him.

*Raynuk watched and smiled as the ship left Mimban's reigon of space. He found it quite unacceptable and quite laughable how the Bounty hunter 'cleverly' shot a tracking device at the Ogariv II. It nearly sickened the Sith Master. Apparently this bounty hunter had never encountered a Sith, or he would have known that the trained eye of a Sith would see the slightest movement. Raynuk saw the movement, as well as having his ship's surface censors spot the obstruction on the ship.

what is this world comming to? The bounty hunters have lost their touch

With one last push of a button, Raynuk released the repair droid from the Ogariv II which removed the tracking device carefully, making sure not to compromise the integrity of it. The droid quickly deposited it into space, allowing it to float freely. The droid's task complete, it returned to the ship in silence*

John noticed her approach and drew his arm around her, as they stood, almost oblivious to the others gathered... A small smirk drew itself across his face.

He brought her close into an embrace, bringing her head underneath his chin. For the first time, John was happy... and that showed.

Looking up into his eyes, Sirvani could see the happiness in them and could feel it radiating outward from him.

I've heard it been said that you are happy when those you love are happy, she thought. But I've never realized the truth in the statement.

She remained still, staring deep into his eyes and the depths of his soul.

As John felt her eyes searching his, he had the desire to kiss her again, but he was surrounded by the other Sith.

He wrestled down the idea and instead stared back into her eyes.

I really wish we were back on the ship at this moment. The thought was followed by a chuckle.

Sirvani laughed softly. A little privacy would be nice, she admitted.

Her mood vanished as the tension in the clearing continued to increase. But I get the feeling that we're going to want it more after this is all over with.

Turning so that she faced the fire once more, she waited, ready for the 'ceremony' to start.

Nom's eyes slowly began to open. All his eyes showed him was a mass of blurry colors. He knew he wasnt in the same spot as he was a second ago. Or was it a second ago? He wasn't quite sure. His surroundings were bright and colorful, not like the inside of a cave. His vision started to sharpen and become more clear. He was starring into the eyes of many people. But these eyes were different. They were empty. After being used to the seeing the jedi for so long, it was like looking at something completly different. Like an empty glass that was once full.

He looked to his right and left and discovered the rest of the jedi. They must have been gassed...

It was a trap...

It was times like this that Nom wished he had a master to consult. No, he was on his own. He continued to looked into the eyes of the people before him, he guessed they were all Sith. He got nothing from their gaze, no carring no compasion no kindness...

Something told Nom that his training may not get him out of this one.

"Nicely done," the gírl mumbled lightly in Raynuk's ear. "Should keep him busy for a while. Though the fact that he's seeking me is rather disturbing, and I have a very good wager as to who that bounty belonged to."

Which, if she was right, would be even more troubling - one more unwelcomed memory, one more buried aspect of her past that she'd rather leave there. Her unused wedding dress still hung in silence on Almania, as far as she knew - unless they had gone through the trouble of destroying the whole planet. That was before her first seeds as a Sith had been planted - before she had been taught by Bishop or recalled on Sullust.

As her mind wandered the paths of memory, she became vaguely aware of the bodies being transported into the center of the clearing.

"Raynuk?" Her tone was decidedly alarmed. "What are they doing?"

One of the figures that lay in paralysis was vaguely familiar to Jaina - or at least, his tired Force signature was. Tares? her thought stretched forth rather hesitantly, almost subconsciously. No. No, they can't. They wouldn't. They couldn't. Her eyes widened with shock.

"No," she whispered. "This isn't right..."

Many figures were recognizable from her time on Manaan. Keiran, Blckclone, Tares... Tares Vortex was by far the most recognizable, being a high-ranking member of the order for as long as Jaina's mind would go back. Yet her mind had no room to contemplate.

Gassed Jedi, a gathering of Sith Masters, the stronghold of Mimban, Bishop of Battle and the accompanying hatred that followed him led Jaina to only one conclusion; someone was going to get hurt.

"Raynuk, you can't let them do this..." Her voice held no tremors, simply a rather rushed sense of alarm. "This is wrong. Cowardly, even. Turn them loose upon us, and let us see who is the stronger. Murdering them in a relatively comatose state - sleep, even - holds no honor, even for Sith."

As the amulet passed over to Malvagio, no gesture was issued in return to Ahriman. It was not a sign of disrespect, but the two had no purpose for such a gesture.

Malvagio's eyes observed those around him. The Jedi came to the ground, awakening but still very confused as to where they were. It must have been something like a horrible nightmare to them, one that would only get worse. With the amulet clenched in his left hand, and the board in the other, Malvagio began to speak.

”œThe Dark Lord and I have been met with some trouble since our undertaking. Ironically, this trouble has come only from the hands of Sith. We do not blame you, but now is the time to explain what it is that is transpiring.”

"No Malvagio, I am not in the control tower...I'm here."

*Raynuk had returned from the control tower by that point in time, and now stood about ten meteres behind Malvagio. His arms were crossed over his chest as they always seemed to be now a days.

He made no further comments to Malvagio, but listened to his words. When he was done, Raynuk turned to Jaina, who was nearly trembleing with fear and sorrow by this time. He gently, yet firmly grasped her arms and looked into her eyes*

"I am sorry Jaina...but this has to be done. I brought you here because you need to sever your connections with those people Jaina. They are your past, and your past must give way to your future. Do not think me a cruel person Jaina...I am only doing what I must to survive. You are a Sith, and I want you to stand beside me in life..."

*His eyes showed the slightest bit of remorse in having to make Jaina watch the proceedings. He looked into her now tear filled eyes for a few more seconds before hugging her tightly.

Another moment passed before he took her hand, and escorted her to the circle.

He didnt let go of her as they stood there, waiting for the Jedi to die. Raynuk looked at the Jedi with an emotionless face. This was part of his life, and he was frequently the one bringing the death apon people. He saw the Jedi each look at Jaina, and saw horror and confusion in their eyes as they saw her standing among the Sith as one of them*

The look on Jaina's face as Raynuk's arm wrapped around her mirrored rather eerily a similar look on the Princess Leia's face as her love was lowered into carbonite...and yet, Jaina had no love for these people, didn't even know them save by reputation. Doubt filled her mind - she was among a barbaric people who delighted in bloodshed, and having no taste for it herself, was utterly alone. If it was supposed to be a lesson, it was one that Jaina didn't want to learn.

"Raynuk - please, stop them!" She whispered, turning her face aside to look up to him in a mixture of fear, denial, and determination.

*Raynuk closed his eyes slowly as his heart pulled the actions of his mind in different directions than his mind wanted to go. He sighed inwardly, knowing this would be difficult*

"Im sorry Jaina...I cant."

*He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her inward and hiding her face and eyes from the massive murder and gruesome death of the Jedi at hand. She did not want to see it, Raynuk gave her that much. But he could not stop the actions that were to take place. He kept whispering to her as she cried against him, her sniffles and moans of sadness dulled against the fabric of his cloaks so that only he could really hear them.*

"Im sorry Jaina...Im sorry.."

The Black Flame of Hell flew into the planet's atmosphere. Impious opened the cockpit as his ship flew above the trees. Just as the ship flew over the ceremonial grounds, Impious leaped out and free fell through the sky. On his way down he typed a few numbers in his wrist comm and the ship took off and landed in a bald spot of the forest, away from the grounds.

Impious continued to fall until he came close to the ground. He gave a force push towards the mud and went backwards in the air. The Sith Lord came down on the ground on one knee and one foot, then stood up quickly.

" What's the meaning of this?", he said quietly to him self as he walked around the grounds.

He looked over where Raynuk and Jaina stood and saw them standing close together. Impious shook his head and walked over and stood near them.

He wondered how the Sith captured the Jedi and why they were sacrificing them.

As the Jedi stood helplessly Impious closed his fist tighter and tighter. He heard the cries of Jaina wich made him hostile.

" Raynuk!! Enough of this!!"

(Oh you have GOT to be kidding me dude... )

*Raynuk turned to Impious, shooting the younger sith a stone cold glare that he knew would sent shivers up the man's spine. He continued to softly comfort Jaina, keeping his eyes blazing with hatred as he looked at the brash and overconfident Sith Lord.

You would do well to shut your mouth Impious. You are not only late, but you are interupting the ceremony. Now shut up...I will deal with Jaina

He turned his eyes from the man with a look of disgust on his face, his eyes flashing to Malvagio, giving him the silent nod, filled with trust, not hatred, for the first time in a while.

Impious gave a small smirk towards the anger of Raynuk. The Sith Master never really liked Impious and always treated poorly no matter what Impious did.

Impious ignored Raynuk's message and watched the rest of the ceremony.

"No, you're not," Jaina whispered brokenly into Raynuk's chest, fighting back the last vestiges of the tears from her eyes. "You can't be sorry - you're fully Sith. You didn't look up to these people like I did." Her face turned up, tearstreaks standing out on her face, gleaming in the flames.

"You don't understand, Raynuk. Those men were my heros."

Dozens of plans had formulated themselves in her heart, burning out again as they were realized for what they were: pure folly. As she rested her head against his chest, she gazed into the mocking flames. A voice filled her head: malicious and rasping.

It is inevitable ... Traitor ... you've betrayed them ... you've doomed the Jedi...

Her mind's voice came in weakly from the other side of her mind. No - I am no longer a Jedi - how can I betray them if I am not one of them?

You betrayed the Sith, the voice continued. You went back to the Jedi with a prejudiced heart, and now you come back here, begging for mercy.

Another thought came from her mind, this time tearing across the side of her brain with enough force to shatter the first three. This was not my choice - I did not come seeking mercy. If fate has led me here, then I will do my best to seek out fate's plan.

Quiet determination filled her face, grief and a smidge of fear still apparent, but for the most part, she seemed quite surly and untouchable. Prying herself from the safety of his arms, she leaned up against Ashley, shoulder-to-shoulder, her hands wrapping around her elbows, shivering softly in the cool air.

*Bishop's left fingers twitched slightly while standing next to Malvagio during the address. When it ceased, he popped his head to one side, as though loosening a muscle in that one motion. The stroke became a turn that carried him around to face the Jedi and Ahriman lined with those who had chosen to become his pupils.

Eight Jedi stood there, recovering each at varying speeds from the effects of the trap. The two noble Jedi Masters, Blckclone and Tares. The five who had followed them to Arbra, Goodwood, Ryoo, Skye, Nom, and Keiran. The once Sith who now believed he could clense the darkness that tainted him, Nashtaa. Their bonds kept each, and their powers, in check.

He came before the Wookie master, raising his cold right hand alongside the Blckclone's face. The metal finger tips pressed through the thick fur and onto the side of his head while Bishop tipped his blind eyes to the other side. His fingers carressed along the woozy wookie's cheek bone and the ear buried within the fur. The entire palm came to lay on his face before sliding around behind his head and taking a full handful of the wookie's fur and flesh and forcibly pulling him out of line and dragging him out to the center of the ceremonial grounds.

His hand still held tightly, and he pulled back on Blckclone's head so that, no matter what state the Jedi might still be in after the gas attack, everyone in the surrounding area could see his face clearly. Bishop turned his face away from the wookie, looking back to where both Ahriman and Malvagio stood at the head of the ceremonial grounds.*
