She didn't know what to do. So much had happened...so much had changed her from the last time she had seen him. There had been so many times when they had needed him, and he hadn't been there.

But then, she reflected, she doubted this coma had been something he had chosen. He couldn't help it that he had let them down by his absence. And in his mind, he was picking up right where they left off.

Well, Brina didn't know if she could do that...but she did get up and embrace him. "It's good to have you back," she said softly, her head buried in his shoulder. "There's so much to tell you...so much has happened...and you've been gone for so long..."

Suddenly, a spark flashed in her eyes, and she pulled the cigarette away from him and threw it in the trash. "No more smoking or drinking. It's time to get you sober and responsible. I'm not going to have you passing out in the middle of a battle."

The young hunter checked out of the station, slowly moving towards the exit and keeping his eyes open to the security. His hair tagged along behind him, his broad grin flashed at the people that happened across his path. Once in his ship he exited the hanger, letting himself orbit the Casino a few times before entering hyperspace.

Smiling a little, kat replied.

"Perhaps no more drinking, but cigarettes dont get you drunk. Anyway, you said so much has happened... What have i missed? Half of my worries just left as you walked in, and the other half will once i see zara safe and well. Where is she anyway?"

"Zara is on vacation with the twins," Brina replied. "She's perfectly fine now. She'll be back in a few weeks."

She took a deep breath and began. "Okay, you might want to sit down. It's going to be a while. Let's see...I think the last thing you will remember was the Heist. Once Ronin found out what had happened between Zara and the Jedi, Sabian Devenus, he was furious."

Her voice grew hard speaking about Ronin. "He tried to kill Sabian multiple times. In the meantime, Sabian trained Zara a bit in the ways of the Force. She's very good now. Anyway, Zara obviously didn't want Sabian dead on her account, so she went to Ronin to beg him to stop this. He refused...and tried to kill her. She barely escaped with her life, and he succeeded in killing Sabian."

She paused, trying to remember what happened next. "We spent a while updating security at the Casino, then headed to Couruscant to help Bekka deliver her baby. Do you remember her? She was one of the people in the Heist, but Zara and Kheldar got her in a binding contract. She's on our side now."

Her mood darkened. "I don't really remember what happened after that, until recently. Zara was kidnapped by Lord Ar-Pharazon, of the Sith. He raped and beat her, then killed me when I attempted to rescue her. Then, he just randomly dropped her off, and she made it back here. She was traumatized, and couldn't even stand being in the same room as a male. She also learned that she was pregnant...with the Sith's child."

She bit her lip, her eyes dead. "Then we got a call from Lycus Thorpe of Thorpe Corporations, who turns out to be my long-lost brother, and who wanted to make a business deal. We went to Coruscant, and Zara was betrayed by one of our employees and kidnapped by Black Sun. She was tortured, Kat. I did everything I could to find her, and Thorpe helped as well. She lost the baby during her torture, which involved everything from killing clones of the twins to physically hurting her. Ka-rith, one of our employees, rescued her in the end, and brought her back here."

Her tone lightened a bit, now that the worst was over. "She's been on the mend since then. Sabian returned to her, and she finally realized that she's loved him all along." She cracked a small smile. "I also just got a comm from her saying she's pregnant again...with Sabian's child."

She paused. "She's very happy. I only hope they can be together...she deserves someone who will be loyal to her and bring joy back into her life. As for me, I've thankfully been strangely fortunate. Zara has been the target of these events. I am a partner with the Link, now, but she is always the figurehead. She's done an excellent job with this place. We're doing some renovation and reconstruction right now, and hopefully, this'll bring in even more business."

She finished. It was a lot to take in, she knew. Sometimes, it amazed her how much had happened, and she had been right there in the thick of it the whole time. She pulled out a recent holo of the twins and Zara and handed it to Kat so he could see his neice and nephew. She was silent, waiting for any questions he had, and curious to see his opinion on the twists life had taken for them, her heart still fluttering at the very sight of him alive and well. She had thought she was over him...but she hadn't counted on seeing him again...and now that he was here, she was full of conflicting emotions--anger at his 'abandonment' of them was slowly fading, and joy for his return and hope for a still-possible future for them was replacing it.

The Black Pantha arrived back at the Casino, Zara now more numb and very grief stricken. Sabian had died, she'd lost him again and didn't know how she would go on. The only thing that would keep her going would be the child she was carrying and her twins. The ship was landed as if she herself was on automatic pilot, the hanger staff beginning the usual process of refuelling and maintenance after the ship was docked.

Zara didn't hear what the staff said about her brother being awake, she just left the ship, the twins and Rascal in tow. The twins were quiet, knowing that their mother was very upset. She'd told them that Sabian had died, the two trying to comfort their mother in their own ways. The Nanny helped, along with another staff member, to take their belongings back to the apartment in the force area. Zara, holding the hands of her twins, shrouded in mourning black as they made their way back through the back corridors to the elevator that would take them down to the apartment. Rascal had followed them, the big cat also trying to comfort his mistress.

The Nanny took the twins for their baths, meals and bed, while Zara curled up on the loungechair and sobbed, holding her abdomen and caressing it to soothe her unborn child. Rascal's rumbling purr vibrated under her hand as his head butted her in an effort to comfort.

"Ohh Sabian... why did you leave us again? I wanted you to know your daughter so badly... for us to be a proper family... What am I going to do now?"

Sabian?? Her head shot upwards, her grey eyes darting to the figure of his ghost. Her eyes widened slightly, her breath catching between sobs.

"I... felt you go... lost you... what... what happened?"

The bond had severed from what they'd been building, strengthening. Even though she could see him... she couldn't hold him... or be held by him... this was different from before when they had been within each others minds. Zara's hands remained comfortingly over her abdomen... over their child.

"Did... did you know? Before... you..." more tears streaked their way down her cheeks, "... you know..." One hand indicated his now... pale glowing form... she wanted so badly for him to really be there so that he could hold her...

"I love you... so much... this just hurts... so badly..."

Unknown to Zara, the small figures of the twins were watching from their bedroom doors, both seeing his ghostly form...

Arching his head alittle lower with a slight grimace, the man in the image shifted his arms slightly against his chest. It was evident that this news was heavy, yet needed to be said.

”œThings are far worst then it seems”¦ The Rebellion has tried to make a final decisive move against the Empire. Unfortantely, many lives are being lost and I'm afraid our efforts will only go so far this time around.”

Just as she finished, her comlink beeped, signalling that a ship had landed at the Casino. She checked it, and was surprised to see that it was the Black Pantha.

She looked up. Kat still hadn't spoken, and she knew it was a hard adjustment when you had missed so much. She put a hand on his shoulder. "Zara just arrived. I'm going to go see her, and make sure everything is alright. They weren't due back for a while. If you want, you can come. But take as much time as you need to think everything over."

She gave him a quick, impulsive kiss on the cheek, then left the room. She headed directly down to Zara's suite in the Force-allowed area. The door was cracked open, and Brina heard Zara's grief-stricken voice talking to someone. Her heart dropped. She pushed the door open to see Zara curled in a chair, face covered in tears, and the twins peering from another cracked-open door across the way. There was no one in the room, and Brina had no idea who Zara could have been talking to.

"Zar...are you alright? What happened?" Brina asked, her voice full of compassion. She came over and knelt next to her friend and placed a hand on her shoulder.

All through his explanation, Zara listened quietly though the tears continued to fall down her cheeks.

"It doesn't change that... you're... you're dead... I can't hold you... I can't touch you..."

She was hurting badly, the child within her, while it hadn't caused her any morning sickness, she had still felt different. Zara was more hormonal than she had been previously, more emotional. She had been thinking that they might have a happy life together... and now this...

Zara looked back up at him, seeing him smile as he realised she was carrying his child, it brought a slight smile through her tears. She felt the calm presense he exuded to calm her, though Zara only felt more light headed. She was feeling so different this pregnancy. Maybe it had something to do with falling pregnant again so quickly after having lost the last one, but she did feel different. Maybe it was her grieving so badly...

"You ... promise to be here for the birth...?"

Zara had been hoping that he'd be with her for longer during the pregnancy. She'd not had much time with Ronin when she carried the twins either. It seemed that this would be no different. She was destined to be alone during pregnancy. She saw him disappear, fresh tears trailing down her face. I wanted you with me... I love you so much... and your gone...

As soon as he disappeared, Kane and Kalyani came over to her, climbing up onto the lounge chair. Both had seen Sabian's ghost, both now cuddling up to her. Her head turned towards Brina as she knelt beside her to give her comfort. Zara had fresh tears run down her cheek as her friend spoke.

"Sabian died Auntie Brina... he was just here talking to Mummy"

Kalyani spoke up from where she had cuddled up to Zara.

"We saw him... He was glowing... he just went... "

Kane added, not letting Kalyani say it all.

Brina's face fell downcast. "I'm...so, so sorry, Zar."

She was puzzled by the mention of his presence here...unless it was some strange Force phenomenon, the twins were referring to a ghost. But she pushed the feeling aside. They were still young, after all, and might have misinterpreted what they thought they saw.

"He may still be back," she offered, trying to cheer her up. "I know last time he was...different, but he still loved you. When he comes back, that love will still be there. You only have to be away from him a little while. Both of us have had to face that, and come out alright in the end. It'll be okay."

Zara looked from Brina to her twins and back again, brushing her face with the back of one of her hands. Even through her grief she felt Brina's confusion as to why the twins were saying they saw him.

"He's gone... we... had a special bond... through the Force. He died... in that battle on Cardia against the sith and empire. He... appeared to me... the twins saw him too... just then. I... don't know if he will be back... he... was so different last time."

She brushed the fresh tears that threatened to prick her eyes.

"I'll always love him... and I know he'll always love me... but... he's gone. I don't know what I'm going to do without him... It's been hard enough with these two... being a single Mother of three will be so much harder... I really thought we could be a proper family... and now... now that can't happen... he's gone... what am I going to do?"

The Nanny came over, gathering the twins for bed. Zara kissed them both, gave each another cuddle and turned back towards Brina. She didn't feel very well either...

"If... Oh... I don't know... if something happens... can you... see that the twins are ok? That the Nanny looks after them... I... I don't feel very well..."

Her hands rested over her abdomen, her head feeling like it was swimming in her grief for her lost love.

After docking with the casino, Durose walked out into the main bar. Motioning for one of the employees, he told him, "I'm here on business to see your managers."

He handed him the datapad. The employee looked it over before handing it back.

"This way, sir," the man replied.

Durose nodded and followed close behind.

The Manager at the front desk looked up at Durose as the other employee led him over to the desk.

"We will provide you with accommodation and let the Nargal's and Ms Thalin know you are here. One of them will be able to see you shortly. Please list here on this datapad the area in which you would like to be employed."

The datapad was given to Durose for him to list his skills and information for the owners of the Link Organisation.

The message was sent to Zara's, to Kat's and to Brina's comm links for whichever was able to see him first.

Laying down on its soft mattress, he relaxed a bit and stared up at the celling, arms folded behind his head. Now he would just have to wait. He hoped it wouldn't be too long, but he had time.

"Yeah," he thought to himself. "For once, I got plenty of time."

She listened as Zara spoke, then when she mentioned not feeling well, was instantly alarmed.

"Zar, I'm taking you down to the medical center. No excuses. You've had some hard times, and I don't want to take the chance that this baby is doing something to you or is going to add complications to your pregnancy."

Brina wouldn't take no for an answer, and a few minutes later, Zara was safe in the medical bay, med droids hovering around her, making her lie down, and getting her checked up.

Suddenly, Brina's comm alerted her to a new employee seeking an interview. Satisfied that Zara was in good hands, she let her friend know what she was doing, then headed to a small meeting room.

"Show him in, please," Brina told the secretary, and began ruffling through the pages of the datapad the man had filled out.

((Just FYI, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend--I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon. So we can pick this up on Monday, if you'd like. ))

The intercom chirped, "Mr. ...uh... Roshan, can you please report to the main office? The employee outside the door will direct you. Ms. Thalin will now see you."

Durose was a little startled as he must have dosed off a little while he in the comfy bed. Quickly getting up and straightening out his clothes, he grabbed the datapad from off the table. Then he exited the room and followed the employee. "This was it," he thought. "Time to show what I'm made of."

((Thanks guys, I'll see you when I see you ... after I get back... ))

There was no arguing with Brina as Zara was led down to the medical center. She was still more concerned with the twins than herself though... even though she knew the Nanny and Brina would look after them for her.

"The twins... they'll be alright won't they? While I'm here?"

She had no choice but to follow the med droids instructions, soon feeling a hyperspray placed against her skin, making her relax and lay back. She was in one of the more comfortable rooms in the medical center, as the medical staff buzzed around her. She heard Brina's comm chirp with a message, her own had gone too, but stopped when Brina answered hers, so must have been the same message.

One of the staff members then told her that her brother had woken up... Kat was finally awake.

"Least something's gone right... for a change..."

They continued to do tests, making her rest so that she wouldn't put herself or her new daughter at risk. Zara was given another nutrient spray, also ordered were meals that were intended to provide all the nutrition that she and her baby would need. She had to rest though, doctors orders. Zar felt herself growing tired with the medication, soon drifting off to sleep, dreaming of her love, Sabian...

Namiads ship docked into the GLC, and made his way to the bar to get some whisky or Ale...or both again. Wait, I dont have any money left... "Ah..." He was about to curse when he noticed he was already at the bar table. He puffed out some air and took a deep breath. "I'd like to see your manager about any job openings at any wage limits, I need a job." he said to the person behind the bar, waiting for an answer.

IC:

Brina rose when Mr. Roshan entered the room. "Hello, Mr. Roshan, I'm Brina Thalin. I hear you're interested in applying for a position with us."

She shook his hand warmly and motioned for him to take a seat. An employee came in with a tray of assorted refreshments and beverages. "Please, help yourself," Brina said. "Now, this interview should be fairly painless. Your application shows that you're very multi-talented. What area would you best like to work in?"

Durose shook her hand and then bowed deeply before taking his seat. An employee came in and offered Durose a drink. Nodding at Brina's invitation, Ro reached over and grabbed himself a blue milk. Raising his glass in thanks to the employee, he began to sip it while Brina looked over the datapad. When she was finished, Brina looked up and asked Durose about job placement. Ro grinned.

"Well, considering my past experience I was thinking about something in Personnel and Security Administration," he replied. "I heard about the Black Sun attack on the Link. That's what first got me interested in contacting you. I've done jobs in this field before and I strongly believe that I can help put the Link on the map and prevent future problems. I can do the recruiting, hold trainings, assign bodyguards, increase the casinos security... whatever you might need in those areas. If you give me a chance I think you will be happily surprised," Durose finished with a smile.

She listened to him, taking notes on her datapad. She was internally curious when he mentioned wanting to do security. It was a dangerous area for hiring new employees in. She had not forgotten the trust they had misplaced in Kal, and wanted to make sure Mr. Roshan wouldn't betray them as well. With his influence in the security department, a betrayal would be devestating.

"It sounds like you have some interesting ideas up your sleeves," she said, pushing back a strand of her red hair. "You mentioned hearing about the attack from Black Sun, so you realize that it was a former employee who betrayed us. You understand my desire for caution," she smiled lightly, "in hiring a new security manager. Tell me, what is your work history, and why did you leave the organizations you previously worked for?"

((OCC: Sorry it took so long to reply had work this morning and didn't have the time to explain all this... ))

Durose perked up, very intrigued.

"Oh? I had heard that there was a breach in security and there might be an opening in the position, but not all that. Fascinating. You know, the Black Sun have always intrigued me. They are one of the few cunning opponents out there. That's what will make this job so fun," Ro beamed.

Durose leaned backward and paused for a second.

Then he continued, "My work history, eh? Does my life story suffice? I hope you have time for long story. Let's see. I started flying for a family friend at about age 19, 20. It was for simple things like transporting shipments of goods, making deliveries, and things like that. I did that for several years until I had saved up enough money to buy myself my own ship. I looked for a while with no success. Then I came upon a visiting trader. He said he had heard I was looking for a ship and offered me a salvaged Naboo Yacht. I accepted and paid the man the money. With my newly gained independence, I decided to try something new. I took a few shipping jobs, until another friend told me about some bounty hunting gigs. I decided to try it and it clicked. I did mostly small paying jobs. After about two years I decided to try something a little bigger. It turned out the man that was my bounty was a Black Sun member."

Ro laughed loudly to himself and he shook his head.

"Of course, I didn't know that at the time. The bounty didn't even list that information. I really doubt the employer knew that. He probably was just wanting to get revenge on the person for crossing him. Well, I finally tracked him down on Dantooine. He was at a cantina and I waited until he was leaving to attack," Ro finished with a chuckle. "Boy was that a quick confrontation! He dispatched me in seconds. I was in shock, especially since he was just an average size human and I was this big buff Cathar. He wasn't even armed for crying out loud. Fortunately for me, he didn't kill me. He liked my spirit and thought I had potential. From our weird beginning, a friendship began that would span the next couple of years as he trained me in the Echani arts while I made money off of random bounties. He said that one day, when I was ready he would take me to meet with the Sun."

Durose sighed, "Unfortunately, on an undercover mission on the Outer Rim the civilian transport he was traveling in was ambushed, looted, and destroyed by pirates. Everyone onboard was killed. So, I never got that operative job I had been looking forward to. That's when I took up bounty hunting full-time. I've done that for most of my life, really. About 5 years ago, an old acquaintance offered me a job in security for his product shipping division. I had to learn all about holonet security and the ins-and-outs of recruiting, hiring, and the like. He and his crew gave me on-the-job training for about a year until he decided I was ready to go at it full fledge on my own. It was a good job. However, about 2 and a half years into it the little weasel that hired me got scared. I was doing too good and it looked like I might even be promoted and take his job at my current rate of progress. Of course, he couldn't have that so he hatched a scheme to get me framed for embezzlement. They eat it right up and I was fired and taken to court. Needless to say, in the end they found that I was innocent. Nevertheless, my employers were those kind of people who had company policy that if they fired you they didn't and wouldn't rehire you. It would ruin the "integrity and violate company policies" or something like that. They were full of it. It was more like they didn't want to admit they were morons, excuse my language, for firing me in the first place before examining all the facts. However, the fact that my old "friend" was found dead in his home a few weeks after I was released probably didn't help anything. Regardless, after that fiasco I decided to go back to bounty hunting and have been doing that ever since. I didn't like living out in the colonies anyways. So there you go. My whole life story. I hope that was what you are looking for."

He leaned forward and paused.

Then he began again, "Now, I understand you wanting to take precautions. Of course, the fact is that you can never fully trust anyone. So all I can give you is my dream. And that dream is to see the Link on the map. To see the Link as something bigger than Black Sun will ever be. And maybe some day even wipe the Black Sun off the map barring their surrender to us."

Durose smirked.

"So you're out to get Black Sun in revenge for the job you never got with them?" she asked, although the question was mostly rhetorical. "And the best way you see to do that is through the Link?"

She mulled over what he had said. I wonder if he got offered a job with the Black Sun now, if he would take it...It's a balance act, that's for sure.

She jotted some notes down on her datapad. She would have to make a decision sooner or later. She had an idea brewing that might work. She'd have liked to speak to Kat or Zara about it first, but neither of them were available.

"Just a few more questions," she said, smiling at the Cathar. "We do hire bounty hunters occasionally, and given your experience, would you still like to do security, or would you rather have an independant contract as a bounty hunter? There is no obligation with the independant contract, though with any other position, the contract is binding. Also, would you be willing to undergo an implant surgery? It's nothing spectacular, just a way for us to keep tabs on you, and it can be equipped with regenerative properties if you wish. And finally, besides getting your revenge on Black Sun, what is the thing you find the most attractive about this position or the Link in general?"

PvCXzdZ.jpg

Durose chuckled, "No. I wouldn't necessarily put it that way. I don't think there is any real revenge involved. I've taken to a weird fancination of the Black Sun. One that would have them my enemies. Stronger and more skilled the enemies, the better you get and the more you learn."

Durose thought for a second and then continued, "As for the Black Sun itself, I don't really care about them. As long as I'm improving my skills I'm happy. They are an illusive group. I've been tracking them for many years now and watching their movements. I honestly believe that I'm the man for the job if you want them taken out. I've thought about the independant contracts but I'm getting old, I guess you could say. I feel like setting down into something and giving it my commitment. The Link would give me that chance. Plus, I would be able strategize against one of the most powerful and well known criminal organizations in the galaxy. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to do that? In the end, I guess I want a home. I want somewhere where I can settle down and live life. Somewhere I can come back to again and again and know it's mine. I want something I can build and that will be worth fighting for. I don't know. Maybe I'm just talking crazy talk, but I think the Link could be just that."

Ro paused for a few seconds obviously thinking about something.

Then he continued, "Hmmm... an implant, eh? Scary. I've never been one for anything that isn't natural. I guess it probably comes from my experiences on my homeworld. As for regenerative properties, I can imagine I would need anything more. Us Cathars already rapidly regenerate. It's part of our nature makeup.

Durose cringed, "A implant? Like a robotic thing implanted in your brain? Is it medically safe for Cathars? Do you know if my body will reject it or not? Has it been tested on Cathars before? What does a standard procedure involve? Are there any other options?

Link to comment

She could tell he didn't like the idea of an implant at all, and she didn't blame him. She didn't like the idea either. "It's standard procedure, and yes, it's medically safe for Cathars. We have a Cathar recruitment officer who has one, and he has had no side affects. The procedure is simple, just a quick in-and-out operation, and I assure you, we have one of the best medical teams in the galaxy."

She paused. "However, we might be able to make an exception. You'll have to speak to Zara Nargal, one of the leaders of this organization. It was her plan to implement the use of implants. She is currently unavailable, but when she is available, you can speak to her about it. For now, I'll leave it out of the contract, but understand if she says you must have it, it will be added to your contract legally, and you'll get the chance to re-sign."

She found his explanation of his desires interesting. She could sort-of relate. She had found a home here when she hadn't one before. "Alright, Mr. Roshan. I'm willing to offer you a contract. You will start as an assistant security manager (under me), and if you prove yourself, you can advance to security chief. We are willing to offer you 20,000 credits a year, then at least 50,000 credits a year as security chief."

The rate was reasonable, and enough to make a decent living on. "If you agree, then I can have one written up."

Durose grinned, "Thanks for your consideration. I guess I will speak to Zara when the time comes. I know I probably sound kind of funny, but it's sort of a religious tribal and personal thing. Call me a purist, but it's just the way I am."

Ro paused for a second and then broke into full fledge laughter, "Sure. I don't mind working under you. Just as long as you don't frame me for something later on down the road....heh heh heh..."

Excited about the new job Durose beamed,"20,000 should suffice. I imagine you provide room and board as well as employee discounts on weapons and ship upgrades and repairs, correct? Hehe. My ship can take a beating, but it doesn't have a single weapon. The first thing I need to do is get it battle worthy. One other thing. What is your policy on leave and travel? Am I free to come and go as I please or are there restrictions or other requirements?"

Finishing up the conversation, Durose reached his hand across the table," I'll take it. Thank you very much for seeing me. I appreciate your time and consideration of me for the position. It is an honor."

"Well, naturally, if we need you, you are expected to be here. However, out travel policies are lenient. If you're not actively doing something, you're free to come and go as you please. And, yes, you get full benefits."

She shook his hand warmly. "It has been my pleasure. Welcome to the Link, Mr. Roshan. I think you'll like it here."

She sent a message to Kheldar and had a contract written up. He sent it back, and Brina presented it to Durose. "If you'll just sign here, we can get you official."

Durose Roshan give the document the "once over." After concluding it met with his satisfaction, Ro carefully signed "on the dotted line."

"Well, I guess that's it. Is there anything you would have me do at the moment? Oh. That reminds me. Any word on the battle above Coruscant. I heard about it while I was waiting for someone to get it. I didn't get all the details, but I heard it was pretty huge. Buildings being leveled, civilians injured and the whole nine yards! Think we can use it to our advantage at all?"

"Currently, we're in the process of some serious renovations at the Casino. No more of this 'anyone who wants in gets in' stuff. It's going to be more upper-scale, and all rooms must be reserved in advance. Hopefully, this place will become a honeymooners' paradise, as well as a staging ground for galactic diplomacy and such."

Brina looked puzzled at the news of a battle. "I haven't heard anything about it. Who's attacking who? Surely it can't be the Rebellion and the Empire again. I heard there was a fight at Carida, but not Coruscant."
