  1. Overnight and during the day the staff had outdone themselves in the observatory. After Zara had spoken to them, they had gathered the fairy lights and strung them up all over the observatory. The tables were set - round so that it would be a friendlier setting and everyone would be able to talk with one another. They had shifted around some of the potted plants so they could arrange the tables just right. Other lights were draped over the tables. At one end of the Observatory they had placed an arch covered with greenery, Mellanie’s favorite flowers and twinkle lights, ready for the celebrant to officiate the brief ceremony. Chairs were set up for the guests. It was arranged to be a short service since they were already married in the eyes of the Mandalorian people. This would record them as a married couple to the rest of the Galaxy, making it fully official. Overall, the setting was romantic for the newly married couple and as much of a blend of three cultures as Zara could make it. She had a special wedding cake made and had gotten her daughter and son-in-law gifts that would be useful to them for starting their lives on Mandalore - she had spoken to Araac’s family via comm before they arrived and gotten what they suggested would be best suited for them. Everything was all set. Zara had spoken with Sabian the night before, the two of them talking till the early hours. He was thrilled for the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle. Just as Zara was glad of the opportunity to celebrate their marriage. When he had first heard that Mellanie was involved with a Mandalorian he figured he had missed out on the chance to. He should have known Zara would insist they have another ‘wedding’ so that they both had the chance to see their radiant daughter in wedding dress. He wore a crisp white shirt and tailored dark grey suit with Mellanie’s favourite flower in his lapel and stood just outside of the elevators waiting for Mel to arrive. The Resort staff led the guests to the chairs set out near the archway. It was here that Zara waited. She had chosen a dark grey backless dress with silver accents which highlighted her stormy grey eyes. Unknowingly, she and Sabian had chosen complimentary outfits, though it could have been they had unconsciously connected through their old Master/Apprentice bond and just been on the same wavelength for the first time in years. As she looked at her twins she softly asked Brina if she could remind her to tell the kids about having had the representative from Count Shadowlord come to see her and told her what had happened on Dathomir. She had been told their cousin Raia Selik was alive though most of the Raging River Clan had been killed. Lantra, Lena and Kara had escaped the bombardment as well, Zara’s eyes scanning the guests to see the three of them sitting behind Kalyani and Kane. Maybe they would tell the twins what had happened and they could in turn tell Mellanie later.

    Kashyyyk

Zara had arrived just in time for the service. She stood at the back and when the Jedi ignited their sabers, the Dathomiri held her golden blade aloft as well. She could see her friend Skye standing alongside Jaina Jade Skywalker and once everyone began to move, she headed towards them. Her eyes widened as she got closer as she saw Darex Trevelian giving Skye a hug. She had thought he perished during the fight with Faust at the Memorial. She caught Skye’s eye, though when she spoke it was to Jaina since she had performed Master Kirlocca’s eulogy. “I wish to extend sincerest sympathies with regards to Master Kirlocca on behalf of the Galactic Alliance Chief of State, Sabian Devanus as well as myself. Sabian is sorry that he couldn’t make it as he is tied up with the Senate on Coruscant. He wanted to be represented so asked if I would.” She paused a moment before continuing. “I am Zara Nargal of the Link. For a while I was Sabian’s apprentice though we didn’t get around to completing my training.” She stated this calmly as a fact, not as a slight against him, nor as a bid for more training. Currently she was still too busy with the Link and the KNM Resort to pursue it though maybe someday she might... She didn’t wish to hold them up any longer so offered a slight bow in respect to Jaina and Darex and a wink towards Skye before she turned and disappeared into the crowd.
  3. Zara was woken in the middle of the night by her comm chirping. Immediately she thought of her girls on Mandalore fighting in a warzone. Her hand automatically rubbed her eyes as she murmured, “Answer comm.” to her AI. Sabian’s voice woke her the rest of the way and she sat up. “Hey Zar. Sorry, did I wake you up?” Looking across at her clock she answered, “You did... It's 4am Sabe. It’s not like you to not know the time difference… what’s the matter? You haven’t heard from Mel have you??” “Hmm?” The question clearly distracted him. “No, I haven’t. Why?” If ever there was a time for a case of ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease this was it… “Err… You know how head strong the girls are when they want to do something…” she began. “Zara,” his tone got firmer, “where is Mellanie?” The Dathomiri Witch sighed. “She and Kalyani went to meet Araac’s family. I wouldn’t be surprised if they marry soon…” Zara racked her brain on how to put it gently to Mellanie’s father that she was in the middle of a warzone. If he knew what was happening on Mandalore right now, then he would know and she dreaded how he would react… and could hear it now… “She’s on Mandalore?! Are you aware of what’s going on in that sector right now?” “Yes I’m well aware of what is happening there right now. I received a comm from the girls before it started. I begged them to come home but Mellanie wouldn’t leave Araac, and Kalyani wouldn’t leave Mellanie. I sent them some armor but haven’t heard anything since.” There was a long silence on the comm. “If I could, I’d send the fleet there. But it’s too late now.” He sighed. “And I know the Mandalorians wouldn’t have welcomed GA help...even assuming I could get the Senate to send it in the first place.” His voice sounded weary. “I’m not sure how I feel about the girls being on the Mandalorian side. One of them thought it would be fun to try to kill me once. Mandalorians aren’t enemies you want. I have enough of those already.” The tone of his voice alerted her to something else bothering him. “Sabian… what is it? What’s wrong?” They were too far apart for Zara to sense him, it was only his voice that told her something was really wrong. She knew he was having trouble with the Senate, she’d kept up on current affairs… no… this was something else. He sighed. “It’s just...everything happening all at once.” There was a pause. “The Senate is voting no confidence in me. I had a visit from a Jedi informing me that she sensed a possible assassin lurking in the rotunda. And Master Kirlocca has just been killed.” “An assassin? I hope you’re being careful. And Master Kirlocca? Oh Sabian, I’m so sorry. I hate to add to the bad news but the girls told me that there is a Sith involved with the attack on Mandalore.” She was a little shocked at the vote of no confidence though figured it would be a case of politics using the blame game again. There was a rustling sound over the comlink. “We just have to trust the Force they’re alright. Zara...I originally called because I was hoping maybe you’d go to Kirlocca’s funeral. As my representative. I know it’d make more sense to send a GA delegation, but I’m not going to get them to agree on anything right now quickly enough. I know we’re not together anymore, but I thought of you. I think a lot of the Jedi will be there. It’d be good for you. Maybe you could find someone to complete your training. Force knows I never completed it. I was hoping Mel would go with you...but I guess that’s out of the picture now.” “I’d be honoured Sabian. You know I still care for you. Who knows… maybe one day I will complete my training. And no, Mel wouldn’t. You know that she hasn’t wanted training. Maybe that will change after this. I’ll make sure the Jedi know that I’m representing you. When and where is it?” “Thank you, Zar. Kachirho City, Kashyyyk. Immediately. I got the message yesterday, and it gave three days.” “Alright. I’ll get organised and leave as soon as I can. May the Force be with you Sabe. Look after yourself.” “You, too, Zar. I...just take care.” There was a click as the comm ended, and Zara was left once again alone in her room with her thoughts. She lay there for a few moments more, getting her thoughts in order before getting up and dressed, packing a bag and sending out messages to cover her sudden departure. It wasn’t long before she boarded the Black Pantha and left for Kashyyyk. ((Co-written and posted with permission.))
  4. Zara shook her head at what Mitral had tried to do to Raia, "That poor girl..." her sympathies for her young cousin were obvious though her tone turned to curious wonder as she mused, "However did she manage that?" It was a rhetorical statement, one in which she didn't expect an answer to. Refocusing, the Dathomiri answered, "Yes I would like a message sent to her. I'd like my comm codes sent to her, along with Kalyani's and Mellanie's. Please let her know that she is welcome here whenever she wishes to come. My door is always open for her." When they moved onto what the Count wished to use the Compound for she settled in to haggle a better deal, "Fifty percent split. It is my Clan's region after all."

The twins founded the Link Organisation which started off on Coruscant in a tall warehouse with a scenic restaurant on the top floor. The Link started as a transport (and smuggling) company that expanded to the Golden Link Casino. They also built ships out of a shipyard on Roon. When Kat died, Zara asked Brina Thalin (who had been Kat’s sweetheart) to take Kat’s position as her business partner becoming her co-CEO. The had a resort station built orbiting Naboo which they dedicated to Kat: The Kat Nargal Memorial Resort. History: Zara and Kat were attacked shortly before they built their base of operations on Coruscant by Rane Scando and Ronin Wartide. Their ship was downed on Rattatak and Ronin boarded the Black Pantha while Rane took off leaving him behind. The twins made an impression on Ronin who ‘remote-called’ his ship and towed the BP to Coruscant so they could repair it. The Link was formed shortly after with Kheldar vos Corelli as their silent partner. Zara and Ronin fell in love and had twins – Kalyani and Kane. Sabian Devanus mediated between the Link and Black Sun. He also trained Zara in the ways of the Force. In one of the encounters with Black Sun, Ronin ended up unconscious. Soon after, the “Heist” occurred. During the Heist Sabian was drugged, the result of this being that he and Zara had a daughter, Mellanie. The perpetrators of the Heist were hunted down after Zara put Bounties on them. Once they were caught, some agreed to work for the Link. Years went by, the Golden Link Casino was sold – ironically to Black Sun - the children grew up and spread their wings with Kane doing his own thing and the girls going to Mandalore where Mellanie met her fiancé Araac’s family with Kalyani going to support her sister. Both girls ended up fighting along side the Vevut’s. Zara finds out from a representative of Count Draken Shadowlord's that her young cousin (that had been missing - Raia Selik) was still alive though most of the Raging River Clan were killed. Zara had been there as an extra healer for Raia's birth and a special bond had formed. Each visit Zara would check on her though that ended soon after Mitral took control of the Raging River Clan’s Council of Elders, effectively isolating the Clan from the outside world with no technology allowed. Zara’s Aunt Lantra and the children’s tutors Kara and Lena often snuck away to Zara’s compound to contact her and keep her informed of what was happening. Mitral often sent the three Clan sisters away on tasks because she couldn’t control them. Mitral had it so that even the Clan sisters that lived off world were considered outsiders and not welcome. Zara had kept the Compound which also allowed Lantra, Lena and Kara to escape Mitrals influence from time to time. Black Sun has on occasion tried to extort money and blackmail the Link. It was during a meeting on Coruscant that they had planned to capture a then pregnant Zara during a meeting they had set up. Zara didn't attend the meeting with a mediator - Sabian Devanus, Ronin going in her stead. The meeting was a disaster, with Piccolo and Fett attacking both Ronin and later Sabian. Zara purchased a 'protector companion' of sorts, in the form of a Black Panther just after the meeting took place wanting to have a guardian for her twins. Zara and Ronin Wartide, the Pirate King, have twins - Kalyani & Kane. The twins are force sensitive, as is Zara. Kheldar Vos Corelli is the children's Godfather as well as being the Link's silent partner. The Golden Link Casino was robbed in the "Heist" led by Ganelon, John Skywalker, Bekka, Slicer & Fracus. Fett from Black Sun was also involved but was left behind when the Casino jumped into hyperspace. Those involved in the Heist got away with the contents of the vault and now have Bounties listed on their heads. 100,000 cr for Ganelon Dead or Alive, the remaining members 50,000 cr each. During the events that unfolded during the Heist, Sabian Davenus, who had agreed to take on Zara for Jedi Training, was given pain relieving drugs that had another side effect. He ended up carrying an injured, burned and paralysed Zara off and having an also paralysed Brina brought along to one of the suites (both girls having been hit with Ganelon's poisonous tongue) where the unmentionable occurred, resulting in a force bond forming between Sabian and Zara. Zara was devastated when she realised what had happened, Ronin still being unconscious from the meeting he had with Piccolo. She left for Coruscant to pick up her twins, then to Dathomir where she was learning her heritage of being a Dathomir Witch. Bekka joined her there and has now been signed on as a permanent employee of the Link thanks to a tricky contract drawn up through Kheldar Vos Correlli. Bekka and Zara are also now friends stemming from when Bekka saved Zara's life twice during the robbery. Zara is assisting Bekka with her pregnancy while looking after her twins. Zara had still been very much in love with Ronin and would have done anything to remain his lady... until she felt the death of Sabian, her master. With their bond being severed at his death, Zara became only a shell of a person, an empty vessel. She headed to the Last Call to collect her twins their second birthday present which was delivered to her freighter. She'd gone inside, the pain too much to bear so she got drunk on top level alcohol, getting picked up and abused in the worst way by LAP.
  6. "Raia killed her?" Zara repeated, wondering how that had come to pass. She wished she could have spared Raia that action. The poor girl must have snapped under Mitral's stifling rules... she knew she would have probably done the same though. She did not envy any of the Clan members living under the oppressive Mitral. The main thing that Zara took from hearing that was that Raia was alive. She didn't doubt that Draken had broken Mitral's mind, after all, when he had gone to Dathomir with her many years ago, he had broken a Nightsisters mind. "What do you wish for him to do with the compound?" The Dathomiri Witch met Baynard's eyes, "If Count Shadowlord wishes to keep a presence there I give permission for him to do so. Other than that, the Compound will house the Clan survivors until they rebuild." She poured a cup of caff for herself and the Captain and indicated the cakes and biscuits on the tray. "Raia would be about sixteen by now, dark brown hair and grey eyes. Is she still on Dathomir? I'd love to get a message to her, let her know she's not alone."
  7. After signing off Zara leaned back in her chair a moment wondering what could have happened on Dathomir. It had been years since she'd been back there... in fact, not since Mitral had taken control of the Elders. She couldn't stand that old biddy. Lena, her Aunt Lantra and Kara had on occasion crept away to the compound and commed her with the latest but it had been a while. The last communication she had from them was when Mitral was sending them off on some wild rancor chase two week's horse ride away from the Clan. She didn't expect to hear from them for another three weeks or so. Giving herself a mental shake, Zara went back to work. -- The following morning Zara was alerted to the arrival of the representatives from Count Shadowlord. Once the Captain had entered her office she smiled in welcome, indicating the easy chairs in the corner of the office where a tray of refreshments had been brought in. That expression left her once he started to explain what had happened on Dathomir. "My Clan... gone?" Shock made the colour drain from her face as she lent back. Hearing Mitral's name linked with betrayal had her go from shock to anger. "Do you know if she was in league with the Nightsisters?" she asked, trying to wrap her head around what could have happened. She had known Mitral was behind the suspicion against outsiders - including those that had left to live their lives elsewhere. It was why Zara hadn't been welcomed the last time she had gone to Dathomir. Instead, she had stayed at the Compound and spoken with Lantra, Lena and Kara there. With relief she realised that they would not have been there ... "There are three Clan sisters that weren't there then, they would be due to return in another week or so. My Aunt Lantra, Kara and Lena who were my children's tutors when they were young. They were more open minded and Mitral couldn't control them so she sent them on tasks away from the Clan quite often. They contacted me before they left on this latest task. They were to spy on a couple of Nightsister Clans to see if they had been the ones to kidnap some of the children one of which was a cousin of mine - Raia Selik. The Nightsisters have always raided the Clans for children to corrupt." She was relieved to hear that the Compound was still alright and under the Count's protection. "Unless they decide to leave Dathomir, my surviving Clan members will probably use the Compound. Could you tell your people to keep an eye out for them please." She could only hope that there were other survivors too.
  8. Zara glanced up at the clock as she rubbed the back of her neck to ease the tension. Ever since she found out that the girls were in the middle of a warzone on Mandalore she had been on edge and had thrown herself into her work as a distraction. She and Brina had just gotten back from running some supplies to the shipyards on Roon. Concern was etched permanently on her features these days it seemed. She knew the girls had received the armour she'd sent them though she couldn't have talked either of them out of staying there to defend Araac's family home. She quite liked Araac as a match for Mellanie. Her youngest daughter couldn't have found anyone more suited than the Mandalorian Zara had originally employed to guard her. When they had first informed her that they were in love, the Link CEO had been concerned. As she got to know Araac though she could see how much he loved Mellanie. She only hoped now that Kalyani could find someone. Her thoughts were interrupted by an incoming comm message. Activating it she looked upon the representative of Serenno as he spoke. Greetings Miss Nargal. Count Shadowlord sends his regards to you and your family. He sent me to track you down to deliver some news in person regarding Dathomir. Where would be the best location to meet in private? Depressing the button she answered the black armoured figure. "Greetings to you too. I'm always pleased to hear from Count Shadowlord. You can meet me in my office at the Resort. How long before you arrive?"
  9. Zara took the elevator to the Force section of the Casino and started to mingle with both staff and clientele alike. She stopped with one of the concierge' and spoke for a time about some of the patrons, also if Mara had had any trouble with anyone... she hadn't. As the Dathomiri glanced around the room she noticed Idarah's shiny head over the other side of the room. Zara headed through the crowd towards her security/general purpose officer... noticing that Idarah was talking to someone as she neared the droid construct. She inclined her head towards the man in acknowledgement, having sensed that he was a Force user before she looked to Idarah, saying hello to her during a break in their conversation.
  10. Zara lifted her head to look at the chrono up on the wall. Time seemed to be racing by though the pile of paperwork on her desk had not seemed to diminish any. On her desk monitor she swiped a number of files over to the folder her secretary handled then brought up the file on Idarah's progress. Since the droid creation of the scientist Ida had taken over from her "construct brother" Idejjen, Zara had not had to worry about a thing. Everything she had set the droid construct to do was done quickly and efficiently. The Dathomiri Witch had come to rely on Idarah as she had once relied upon Idejjen. Giving herself a mental shake so that her thoughts wouldn't turn melancholy, Zara rose from her desk. She would take a walk through the Casino and mingle for a while. Her youngest daughter, Mellanie, was still in her classes while Kalyani was in the simulators. Her elder daughter and a group of her friends were always going into the simulations to test their skills against the computers. Of course Kali loved to play the part of either a smuggler or a pirate”¦ Nodding to her secretary, Zara smoothed down her forest green tunic and left the office. She would mingle while she looked around for Idarah”¦
  11. Brina thanked him, and after he left, turned to Zara, her green eyes sparkling. "So what do you think?" Zara grinned at her best friend as the station master headed off. Before she could answer and voice her pleasure and enthusiasm for the KNMR her daughters piped up, both girls excited, "Wow Auntie Brina!" "This is fantastic!" "Mum can we go exploring?" "Can we go to the shops Mum? "Will you come with us Auntie Brina, Mum?" "Please...." "Please..." "Please..." "Can we go..." "Can we..." "Girls! One at a time!" Zara laughed as her eyes met with Brina's, both adults amused at her daughters reactions. "I think that means that the girls approve, don't you think?" In between her laughter she added, "You've done a fantastic job making your vision into reality. I love it Bri. You should be very proud of this." Her gaze shifted to the Station Master that had returned to let them know that the first guests had arrived for the talks. Zara let Brina answer him while she tried to calm her daughters for a moment at least.
  12. "The Kat Nargal Memorial Resort..." Zara mused the name over, her eyes shutting for barely a moment as she did so. She missed her twin terribly though hardly ever let it show publicly. She knew that Brina missed Kat also... "Yes... I think it's fitting. The Kat Nargal Memorial Resort it is..." "As for going out there... I'm looking forward to seeing it. When do you want to leave?" Zara figured her daughters would be excited to go along as well, "The girls would enjoy the trip out as well." [ooc: you can have us go whenever you're ready ]
  13. It seemed such a blur now since Zara had helped Brina to the shower following the Jedi healing her. Daily she checked on her best friend, and if she didn't check more than once, her daughters did, not that she needed checking on any longer. Her friend looked like a new woman, glowing with good health. She headed through the adjoining door into Brina's office. Zara beamed at her as she pulled the chair over, "You're looking better than I've ever seen you." Noticing the look on Brina's face she asked, "How are the plans coming along?"
  14. "Hi Bri... glad your back with us..." Zara took her turn in hugging her good friend, then stood back to look at her. "You look so much better. The Healer has worked wonders with you..." It was good to see Brina looking so much better than she had been for a long time. The two girls gave their Aunt another hug, one on either side of the bed, neither wanting to let their aunt go for long. Zara sat back in her chair and grinned up at Brina, "I gather it won't be long before you put all of those new ideas of yours into practice. I can't wait to see what you come up with." She would back her friend's ideas all the way.
  15. Zara rubbed her eyes again and looked at the chrono on the wall of her office. The time hadn't moved forward much since the last time she looked. She was concerned about Brina and between the worry for her friend and the death of Idejjen she hadn't gotten much sleep. She didn't want to look in a mirror as she knew what she would see - dark bags under her eyes as if she'd been in a fight. Make up hadn't done much to conceal it. "Mum... is Aunty Brina going to be okay?" Zara looked up to see her youngest daughter standing in the doorway. "Can we go see her?" "We'll go and see her once the Jedi have finished healing her sweetheart." The Dathomiri rose from her chair and closed the distance between herself and Mellanie, enclosing the young girl in her arms. She rocked gently back and forth as she cuddled her youngest. "The doctors said that Aunty Brina is in good hands with the Jedi Healers... Dr Ran said that Healer Organa is the best there is." Zara looked down to her daughters face, squeezing her again, "How about we go get you a special treat?" Mellanie nodded her head enthusiastically. It had been a while since they had done something like this. The two left her office and headed towards the elevator, taking it to the food court level. They found an unoccupied table and sat down. As they waited for the waitress to arrive, Zara looked at her daughter. Mellanie reminded her so much of her father, Sabian. The waitress arrived and Zara gave her order, asking for three large ice-cream sundaes, having sent a message to her other daughter to meet them there as well. Kalyani didn't take long to arrive, getting there before the waitress brought their order. When special treats like this were offered, her children didn't take long... Zara filled Kali in on the latest news from the medical center, her hands each resting on her daughters to comfort them. At least the ice-cream would take their minds off their Aunt for a little while.
  16. Zara reached over to pat Brina's hand, "I'll go soon." She had watched as her daughter had lent over to kiss Brina's cheek before leaving to go off to bed. "I think by the message that the Jedi was coming here. I guess we will see." She stood and looked back at her friend. "You be good for the doctors... take your meds. They'll help you... well a little anyhow. Get some rest and I'll see you in the morning." Zara was tired as she headed back towards the apartment. Only once before had she felt so emotionally drained but she wasn't going to think about that. She guessed she should check in with Idarah but she was too tired to really focus on that. Sleep was what she needed and she would cope with whatever came their way tomorrow.
  17. Zara was relieved that this Jedi Healer was going to come to see what she could do for Brina. She sat back in the chair, her concerned eyes on her good friend, wishing that there was something else she could do for her. Once the Jedi arrived, she would offer her the best accommodations, anything at her disposal if she could help Brina. As pain wracked Brina's frame, Zara looked on helplessly. What could she do? There wasn't anything she could think of besides to hold onto her friends hand - to let Brina grip her hand in as tight as grip as she liked, if only to try and take some of her pain away from her. With her other hand, Zara smoothed her friend's forehead, her anxious eyes shifting from Brina's face to the nurse and back again.
  18. Zara was grateful of the quick reply from Kheldar. That he hadn't heard from Kane... or Ronin for that matter, concerned her but she would leave doing anything about that until she had Brina better. "Brina, I've just got a message back from Kheldar. He sent a message to Master Organa. I guess we wait now until we hear from her..." The Dathomiri brought a chair over and made herself comfortable next to Brina's bedside. She was very concerned about her best friend. Zara nodded to Kalyani as her daughter said she was going to go back to the apartment. Kali lent over and gave her Aunt a kiss on the cheek before she headed off.
  19. Zara gave herself a mental talking to, intent on looking at the positives and pushing her grief to the back of her mind to deal with once she was alone. She listened as her friend took on board her suggestion regarding the Jedi Healer. "We don't have anything to lose by asking. Lets hope that she will come." Zara fell thoughtful, "Now, where should we send the message to? I wonder where she would be?" As if a light-bulb flashed on above her head she added with some enthusiasm, "We can ask Kheldar to get her a message! He's got contacts all over the place. I'll just send him a message now." Zara closed her eyes as she thought about what to put in the message. With her internal comm chip she sent off a message to the Merchant Prince. "There. Message sent to Kheldar. Now we wait for a response."
  20. Zara swallowed, trying to process this next blow. Her thoughts ran wild, "We'll get you the best doctors..." Shaking her head she added, "Not that Dr Ran isn't good... it's just that I don't want to loose you too..." The words were cut off with a choked off sob. She swallowed again then answered Brina's question as to what was wrong, "Idejjen just died. Ida told us before she left that he only had a short time to live... he's gone..." What wasn't said was how close Zara had been with the construct. She had relied on him not only as an employee but as a friend no matter what form he had taken. It's a shame I never learnt how to heal with the Force... Sabian only showed me how to heal a cut or the simple things... even with my clan magic I couldn't do anything for him... Zara's eyes lit up as an idea hit her, "Brina... we'll get that Jedi Healer... I hear she can cure anything... surely she could heal you!" -- Kalyani stood beside Brina's bed along with her mother. She remained quiet, still upset at Idejjen's passing and also hearing that Aunty Brina was sick again. It's not fair!
  21. Kalyani and Zara both struggled to keep their emotions in check as they watched Idejjen's last moments. It was so heartbreaking to stand there and not be able to do anything at all to save him. Zara knew basic first aid through the Force but nothing that would save him. She brushed the tears from her eyes again, finding that they were now running freely to the point where she was trying to smother sobs. "Thank you..." Came out, thman ymon... and were barely above a whisper. Then Idejjen's eyes closed slowly and his breathing slowed. "Don't..." Zara swallowed and tried again, "Don't try to speak Idejjen. We're here..." Her voice trailed off as he closed his eyes. As he took his last breath, Zara closed her tear stained eyes, Rest in Peace Idejjen... Opening them again she released his hand, placing it at his side as she looked up at the doctor. He confirmed what Zara already knew, that he had left them. Her gaze shifted to Idarah, noticing the tears that flowed down the metal face. Somehow it didn't surprise her that one of Ida's creations would have those kind of abilities. "Could you organise his funeral? Don't worry about the cost, the Link will take care of it." She was turning to leave the room, when she saw Brina being placed on a bed in the emergency ward. "Brina?" Zara called out, bringing Kalyani with her as she approached, her eyes meeting with the doctor as he arrived at the same time that she and her daughter entered the room, "Brina... what's the matter? Are you okay?" Please don't let it be anything serious... I don't think we could handle more bad news...
  22. Idejjen's end was rapidly approaching and there was nothing that Zara could do but stand beside his bed and hold his hand. It was hard to keep control of her emotions, hard not to just break down as her good friend was dying. And Idejjen had become a good friend to her, not just an employee. Her mind traveled back to happier times she had spent with him. A tear slipped through her control as she recalled the time the construct had "hugged" her in his rancor form. All of his different shifts... Zara had known him in every one of them. Zara looked up from Idejjen to catch Idarah's eyes. She nodded slowly, acknowledging the message she had received through the comm chip embedded within her brain. I wish I could do more for him... I considered him part of the family... She blinked away a couple more tears, her hand coming up to brush them from her cheeks. A set of hands rested on her shoulders, Zara looking up to meet her daughters grey eyes, so much like her own. "Is he really dying Mum?" Zara placed her free hand upon Kalyani's, squeezing gently, "Yes he is sweetheart." She let her hand fall to encircle around her eldest daughter. Kalyani was trying not to cry. "Mel's in bed Mum. Sharna is with her." Zara was glad that the girls tutor/babysitter had kept her youngest back in the apartment. She didn't want her having the memory of seeing someone die. She didn't want that for Kalyani either though the choice would be hers, "You don't have to stay here Kali. He'll know you were thinking of him." Kalyani shook her head, "I want to stay Mum. Can I?" Her voice a broken whisper as she asked if she could. Zara squeezed her daughters shoulders to comfort her, "Alright." Kali threw both of her arms around her mother, tears pricking her eyes. Looking across at Idarah Zara asked, "How long has he got now?" (ooc: sorry it's taken so long, RL is still throwing curveballs)
  23. Even knowing that Idejjen only had a short time to live, it still shocked her greatly to see him in this state. It was obvious that his time was limited and Zara struggled to keep her tears at bay. She needed to be strong. As the large construct struggled to speak, Zara knelt by his side, taking his hand, ”œShhh Idejjen. I'm here. Don't try to talk.”
  24. ((OOC: Sorry for taking so long, things in RL got absolutely crazy again If it isn't one thing, it's another...)) -- Ally and Kaz, good friends and two of the waitresses in this section of the casino, picked up their drinks trays and datapads as they both started on their respective shift, giving each other a wave as they headed towards their tables on opposite ends of the room. Ally's rounds took her to the tables on the left side of the floor, the first she stopped at was where Delta was, politely asking "Would anyone like refreshments?" Kaz stopped at the table that Robert sat at, also asking the same question Ally had. At both tables, the girls flicked on the holographic menu's so that the patrons could see what was on offer from the Casino's restaurant and bar. --- As Idarah answered her about what Ida had said, Zara nodded her head, "Yes, I would like to be there for him." She glanced at her chrono and noticed that more time had passed than she realised. She hoped that Brina and the girls would forgive her for not returning for desert. "Should I let him in?" It was mostly a futile effort in the first guises of his futile attempts, but as Zara's presence warmed him, he swore to find and protect her. He came to a door that had been recently used and knocked silently... Even as Idarah spoke she could feel Idejjen's approach. "Yes, let him in, please" Zara's voice was soft, shock still evident in her bearing. While she waited for the cyborg to open the door for the construct, with her internal comm she sent a message to Brina, informing her of what she had learned regarding Idejjen's imminent death, also apologizing for not returning for desert. Having also received the message regarding the new applicant, Zara asked Brina if she could interview the Cathar and test her in security duties. Zara also mentioned the room in which she currently was in case Brina wished to join her. As the door opened and the construct entered the room, Zara rushed forward to assist him both physically and through the Force to the first chair she could drag over through the Force. "Please sit Idejjen. Make yourself comfortable." Her eyes met with the cyborg's as she spoke. "Call for medical please Idarah." The change in her friend and security officer shocked her further and made the revelation hone true. As much as she didn't want to believe it, Idejjen was dying and there was nothing she could do to prevent it, all she could do was to make him as comfortable as possible and be with him. She fought to keep herself from breaking down. At this time she needed to be strong for him. Once medical arrived with the hoverbed, they would move Idejjen to one of the private rooms in the medical center.
  25. As the Cathar left for the gardens, Jadin put in a call to both Zara's and Brina's secretaries, telling them that Catharis was interested in working for them and was currently filling out the datacard application. The secretaries in turn sent both women the message. -- When Catharis returned with the datapad, Jadin quickly read the information. Finishing reading it she looked up at the Cathar once more, "Link Employees are entitled to a room on the station. I can book you into a temporary room until your application has been processed, then if you are successful - and I can't see how you wouldn't be - then we can set you up with a more permanent room." She waited for her reply as some preferred to stay in their ships. (ooc: In turn I apologise. Things have been hectic here also. One of us will 'arrange' the interview next post... )
