Golden Link Casino

Recommended Posts

((OOC: I'm going to assume from what I have read that the lockdown was primarily in a private hangar bay, and since Draken Shadowlord is preparing to leave from a more public hanger I am going to assume that I can land there. If I'm wrong in this please correct me and I'll edit, but it seems like things are under control now and that security would have been laxed.))

The lone Rodya exits hyperspace near the Golden Link Casino. He is quickly hit with identification requests from the security teams inside the sturcture and is listed as a guest. He is given permission to land in a public hangar, which he does.

Rodya adorns his black cloak and pulls the hood over his menacing face before he exits his ship. In space, alone in his ship, Rodya is a fairly likable Dashade. He retains his blood lust, but he is able to smile and joke with himself. In space though Rodya is alone, at the Golden Link though he will be surronded by hundreds of other creatures, mainly humans. His peculiar appearance, along with his long seculsion in space, has driven him away from social interaction. He is more comfortable alone. Now that he is entering into a public space, he will become quiet, his smiling face will shift to one that is frightening and cold as stone. He will loose his talkative personality and become an emotionless statue. In public he will cast off Rodya and become Mr. Rod-yak Val.

His metal boots ping as they strike the exit ramp of his ship. He walks out of the hangar bay and through the security checks. He has no reason to carry weapons into this place so he left all of his on his ship. He is allowed to pass into the Casino where he can begin his investigation.

The man Rodya is looking for is a drunk as well as a gambler, so the Dashade starts his search at the bar. He addresses the bartender who stands a good ways behind the counter, careful to remain out of reach of the fierce looking bounty hunter.

"I'm looking for a man named Thrick Allfell. Ever heard the name?" Rodya's face remains cold. He extracts his information through the use of fear, a reliable tool that never fails. The bartender lifts a shaky hand and points towards the card tables at a man who is currently expressing the human emotion of happiness by smiling and laughing and slinging his drink around in the air. Two young Twi-lek women sit on his hips occasionally kissing his cheeks for luck. Rodya walks around the tables, out of sight of Allfell. He approaches the soon to be informant from behind. Thrick lays down another winning hand and starts to rake in his winnings, but a shadow is cast on the table from over Allfell's shoulder.

"Mr. Thrick Allfell?" a deep voice asks.

*At the sound of the ominous voice, Thrick's hands begin to tremble involuntarily. A craven fool by nature, he is easily intimidated by the more powerful, and given to deceit and treachery. However, even the most terrified of cornered rats will eventually resort to lethal force.*

'Who's askin'?'

*His voice quavers and a cold sweat breaks out as he reaches inexpertly for the blaster at his waist.*

((Yes it was only the Hanger Bays immediately around the secured hanger. Now that the crisis is over, they will be reopening also.

Bounty - All weapons are checked in when entering the Casino as to protect patrons and staff alike. Everyone coming into the Casino has to go through a security check and hand any weapons over to be placed in a locker until they leave. This has been in place since the Heist.

The only place that you'd still have weapons is in the hangers before going through the security checks.))

With the Hanger now cleaned up, the wounded and dead taken to the Medical Bay and Morgue, the Hanger bays were now reopened.

Zara turned back to Piccolo.

"At the moment there are no jobs available that would be worthy of your skill. I propose that we make a contract stating that we can call on you for when a suitable job comes up."

She shifted her gaze towards the Jedi Master and towards Brina, looking to see if they thought it a valid offer. She then turned back towards the Hunter. She was still wondering though how many jobs to have him do...

"What would you say to that? How many jobs would you be willing to perform for us?"

OOC: understood.

IC: *Thrick curses as his fingers brush the battered leather of his blaster holster and encounter nothing but more leather. In the booze-bolstered rush of adrenaline he had forgotten- weapons of any kind were prohibited on the station, and he was utterly defenceless.*

Piccolo wasn't sure he liked the idea of being on call for the Link. But it was a reasonable compromise. The question of how many jobs was something he'd already given consideration to. It needed to be enough to placate the Link, but not too many that he was enslaved to them long term.

"Three is a popular number and my preference for the number of jobs. In the meantime, I would like that bounty publicly lifted."

"Mr. Allfell, I would like to have a word or two with you. If you wouldn't mind. You can relax. I have no reason to kill you...yet"

Rodya leads the drunk nervous human away from the card table and into a darker corner. He sits in a booth and motions for his infomant to to sit as well. Rodya maintians his strong dominating presence. He controls the meeting with psychological brute force, meaning that his mere presence and appearance are enough to make the drunken man shake.

"I wish to question you concerning your ex-wife, Kaya Soon. She is dead. She was executed not too long ago for attempting to revolt against the government of Ventooine."

"But it is not her that I am seeking information about. It is her wookie companion, Crallatobuuk, the one that owed your wife a life debt. I need to know who the wookiee's relatives and friends are, where they live, and any other possible connections the wookiee may have that you would know about. Also, did your ex-wife have any other family or friends that the wookiee may be close enough to to seek refuge with, and how exactly did your wife acquire this wookiee companion under the life debt tradition?"

Rodya places one of his giant clawed hands on the table between him and Allfell. His hands are the only deadly weapons that the Golden Link Security can't take from him. He eyes Allfell, sending a nonverbal communication warning that it would be wise for Allfell to speak the truth and nothing but...

"The bounty will be lifted."

It was the first thing Brina had said during the whole meeting. She didn't say it reassuringly, or gently, but with a quiet yet rock-hard confidence. Piccolo had to know that they would not waver in completing their end of the bargain.

"But it will be placed on hold until the fulfillment of your assignments to our satisfaction. If you fail to complete one of them, the bounty we reappear on the bounty hunter's network."

The redhead fell silent then, crossing her arms over her chest. She would not interfere again unless she was specifically spoken to.

*Allfell relaxed visibly as soon as it became apparent the bounty hunter wasn't there for him, though he still wasn't as happy as he had been before the gargantuan creature had approached him.*

'I know Kaya's dead. The wook told me a couple o' weeks ago, Force knows why. I hated Kaya, she and the wook both hated me. I didn't come over all teary when I heard, anyway.

'I don't know why the wook followed Kaya around. Kaya wouldn't tell me, and she left me a couple o' weeks after the wook turned up. It happened off-planet, I know that much. Me an' Kaya had a fight, she took off, an' she came back with the hairy freak in tow.

'Anyway, like I said, the wook contacted me a couple o' weeks ago to let me know about Kaya. She come directly here from Ventooine, I think, and left on another transport the next day. I don't recall where she was headed.'

Rodya drums his claws on the table. He is becoming impatient. He wants more information than what Allfell seems willing to give and he doesn't trust this drunkyard. His first thought is to quietly drag the piece of trash out to his ship and torture him slightly until he sobers up and produces a bit more information, but the security of the Golden Link seems currently on edge so Rodya decides to find another way around Allfell's stupidity.

"Tell me a little bit about your marriage Mr. Allfell. Did you and your wife have any children? How long were you married? Where did you meet? Where did you live? What was the greatest source of conflict between you and your wife? Do you recall what the fight was about that caused Kaya to leave the first time, before she had met the Wookiee, and where would Kaya go after you and her had recently fought, a relative's perhaps?"

He tries to peer into Allfell's mind. The man is a drunk and may give something away simply because he is too affected by the chemicals in his body. Rodya waits and listens to Allfell's story...

Piccolo called his ship, the Howling Runner to the Link Casino. The hunter dismissed himself from the meeting. Piccolo left a few parting words for his new associates,

"I will expect a formal announcement that the bounty has been eliminated on public channels."

With that, Piccolo entered the hangar and headed into hyperspace.

Brina raised an eyebrow at the bounty hunter's exit. "My, people come and go so quickly around here," she commented dryly.

She turned to Armiena. "Thank you for your assistance, Master Jedi. Both in the hanger bay and in the negotiations. Now, what can the Link Organization do for you?"

She sent Zara a look that let her know that she was free to stay and talk to the Jedi, but that if she had other things she wanted to get done, Brina would handle it.

With the meeting now over, Zara turned back towards the Jedi Master.

"Thankyou for your participation. You had wanted to see me previously, what was that for? I actually have a patron that is up in the lounge area that wants to speak with a Jedi. He wanted to speak with an Aryian Darkfire, though I don't know him. Would you know him? He said something about having been his apprentice at one point or another?"

Turning towards Brina, she added, "Did you want to put the notice on the network that the Bounty on Piccolo is suspended, or shall I?"

Armiena couldn't help but laugh after hearing Zara Nargal's question. "You could say that I know him. He's my fiance, and he isn't far from this station." It suddenly became very apparent why the Jedi, ordinarily sworn to modesty, wore a ring on a highly significant finger to many human cultures: she was engaged to be married to the aforementioned Jedi Master.

"As for the person claiming to be an old apprentice of his, it's... possible. I never met any of his Padawans, but I don't recall any of them completing their training. It might be best if you cleared my fiance's ship for landing so he could clear this up himself..." Armiena's emerald eyes briefly met Zara's, but they tore away from them to face a rather unpleasant possibility.

Should I have a bad feeling about this?

"I'd actually planned on warning you that Barton and Piccolo might have planning something against you, but that situation seems to be handled for the moment. However, I also came to meet you, to... try to secure a few items that a Jedi Master ordinarily can't acquire on her own. You see, after Barton's terrorist attack on Coruscant, well, I can't exactly afford to keep in contact with his former holdings, so my sources have dried up."

A small grin struggled for space on her lips; ever since it became known that she was a Jedi, Armiena had found that it was impossible for her to keep up with her old contacts in the black market. Apparently, it was feared that a Jedi would expose their operations, even though Armiena was never involved in anything more illicit than the underground antique markets. Criminals, even the most reasonable of them, seemed to be a mite edgy where the Jedi were concerned.

Zara ended up laughing along with Armiena when it was stated that Aryian was her fiance. "Congratulations" Zara tilted her head slightly, "He said something about wanting his training completed. I'll have him cleared now."

Bringing up her wrist unit, Zara contacted the Control Office that overlooked traffic, stating that there was another Jedi coming to the Casino and to give him priority clearance for landing. Also that he was to be directed to the main lounge area in the Force Zone.

"Shall we head up to greet him then? I'll have our other guest brought to meet you both there as well."

She sent another message for Lobo to be brought down to the other lounge area as well. Zara was then very intrigued by what the Jedi Master then had to say.

"So your sources have dried up. I think we can help out there. If you give us a list of what you require, I'll send one of our people out to gather the goods."

She motioned for Armiena and Brina to join her as they walked towards the lounge area now. Walking beside Brina, Zara smiled, touching her arm.

"I appreciate everything you do for the Link Brina. Just wanted you to know that. Is there anything you'd like to do specifically?"

Brina smiled at the Jedi Master's revelation and added her own congradulations. It was good to hear of some happiness in the galaxy, especially in the area of love--an area where neither of the Link women had been successful in.

Zara's question caught her off-guard. Brina raised her eyebrows in surprise, and tried to think of something to say.

"No, no," she stuttered. "The Link is my home, and you and your children are my family. I am happier here than I would be anywhere else. I can't think of anything else I want to do."

Brina felt it her job and, more importantly, duty, to stay here with Zara. She had been with this organization for a long time, and now it was even partly hers, even though she didn't feel like it was. To her, she was there to back Zara up, keep the Link's assets in working order, and be Zara's personal bodyguard. She didn't have a life outside of that. True, she had recently discovered that she had a new brother, and she did have family back on her homeworld, but she didn't maintain much contact with them.

Everything that happened to them was aimed at Zara. Brina was more in the background--a place that her self from ten years ago would have surely hated--but for now, she was content with that position. Sure, there were times where she wished her life had more adventure, and missed her days wandering the space lanes, but she was older now, and hopefully wiser. She could be content in her position, and she was.

Serena glided into the shuttle bay. All arraingements had been made. Her ship was slaved to Draken's and she was ready to get going. Her designs were now breaking new frontiers. "I hope you don't mind a guest on the trip." She commented lowly as she entered the ship she had been told was Draken's.

He tries to peer into Allfell's mind. The man is a drunk and may give something away simply because he is too affected by the chemicals in his body. Rodya waits and listens to Allfell's story...

but the story never comes. Allfell, soused beyond belief, falls face first into the table and enters into the deepest of sleeps, the kind only known by the truly drunk. Rodya releases an exasperated sigh and rolls his eyes. This one's not even worth beating up, he thinks as he stands up and walks away from the table.

The meeting wasn't a total loss, Rodya thinks, at least he told me that the wookiee stopped here before leaving on a transport. The Link Security will have recorded holo's of the wookiee and records of the transport. Rodya walks up to one of the many security gaurds standing around the Casino. They seem to be more on edge than usual, but Rodya disregards this trait and requests to meet with a superior Golden Link official. He wants to request permission to be allowed to view the security recordings from the past few weeks.

The gaurd leads Rodya down long hallways and through corridors until they come upon a group of people walking. The security gaurd interrupts and introduces his superiors as Zara Nargal and Brina Thalin.

"Hello ladies." Rodya also nods to the others present. He isn't the greatest at formalities. His appearance being so peculiar he doesn't like to approach others except from the shadows, but in some situations specific measures must be taken. "My name is Mr. Rod-yak Val. I will only take a moment of your time. I am here to request access to your security recordings and transport records from the past few weeks. I have reason to believe that a wanted criminal sought refuge here at your Casino for a few days, and if you could help me get a little bit closer to catching this foe I would greatly appreciate it."

((I have explicit permission to post Aryian Darkfire's actions and fate right now. Heck, he actually trusted me with the password to his account.))

"It shouldn't be anything too difficult for your organization, but there are a few items that might require a certain amount of discretion to retrieve." Armiena began to list off an eclectic array of items: a number of explosive materials with all manner of destructive potential and uses, a small quantity of phrikite ore--although, she later assured Ms. Nargal that success was not essential. She also mentioned a surprisingly large number of MSE-6 mouse droids, and curiously enough, a large quantity of the same material that was used to forge molecular stilletos.

At that last item, Armiena merely winked and smiled mysteriously. "It's for an experiment..." However, her expression melted into anxiety as her non-physical senses looked away to distant space...

_________________________

Over the course of Aryian's career as a Jedi, he had attracted a very curious stalker. Occasionally, when he entered hyperspace or experienced bouts of sudden confusion, a frozen space monkey tended to show up in space and follow his movements. It was an unexplainable phenomenon that would surely give physicists fits to explain it if it was ever reported, but it happened, and that was what mattered. This was one of those moments.

The infamous frozen space monkey popped out of hyperspace with a flicker of pseudo-motion. Undetectable by sensors, small enough to avoid detection until an unsuspecting pilot was literally on top of it, innocuous enough to elude the danger sense of any Jedi, it coasted through the space surrounding the Golden Link Casino. In a truly unique defiance of the odds, it had entered a trajectory that would intercept Aryian Darkfire's ship, the Blur, as it sped towards Armiena's location.

Ordinarily, such a small object would only leave a nasty dent on the reinforced armor of Aryian's modified starfighter, but by a horrible misfortunate, it had gotten sucked into some crucial subsystem of his sublight drives. Predictably disastrous results followed.

The freak accident caused Aryian's sublight engines to explode, spraying incandescant debris in a blaze that was visible even from the Casino's hangar. Fortune was one Aryian's side in only one instance; the explosion had not triggered his fighter's warhead cache, saving him from a surely fatal firestorm that would have consumed his entire fighter. Of course, when one put it into perspective that the entire aft of the Blur was blown into a hulk of twisted metal and he was now trapped in a helpless, sightless, powerless coffin--if Aryian had survived, of course--one probably wouldn't view the Jedi Master as a particularly fortunate man.

_________________________

"Sithspit." Armiena didn't even bother attempting to maintain her composure. Her eyes widened and nearly bulged; her already pale face turned almost ghostly; she didn't even offer a fare-thee-well to her hosts. The Jedi Grandmaster simply hauled arse back to the hangar, nearly knocking over a randomly patrolling security guard with her impressive pace. As her armored boots thudded against the boots, steadily carrying her away, she could be heard shouting into her comlink.

"Aryian--" Another eloquent curse was heard. "Ghost Breath, begin the power-up sequence now--comm Blur and retrieve his trajectory, life-signs--damn you, I don't care if we don't have clearance! They can shoot me down themselves if they like! When you're done retrieving his trajectory, power up the magcon field and calculate..." What instructions Armiena was shouting into her comlink, Zara Nargal and Brina Thalin wouldn't hear until they viewed footage of her near-panic attack from the security cameras.

It was, however, very notable that within a few moments, the Ghost Breath launched from the hangar without clearance for departure and streaked away on an interception course with the Blur.

Armiena tried to stop her hands from shaking as she approached the sullied ship. Even without her hands shaking from fear of losing him, from being to late to save her love, this maneuver was going to be difficult enough.

((No, I'm not killing his character. It's just the only reasonable *snorts* set-up that I can think of at the moment that would put him in a coma for a long time.))

Draken bowed to Serena as she entered his ship. "Senorita you may have the room on your right." Once again he had given out his own quarters to the person he was traveling with. He bowed once more to her and proceeded to his cockpit and guided the ship smoothly out of the hanger bay and into space.

Several minutes later, the two ships made a jump into hyperspace heading for Serenno.

Brina raised an eyebrow skeptically at the man who approached them. "Normally we treat our guests to a certain level of confidentiality."

She guessed the man was a bounty hunter. "However, I think in this case we can allow a bit of lenience. You're looking to see if he left the station, correct? If you have any idea of what his vessel was, I or my Security Chief can look into it for you."

Her word choice made it clear that he was not going to be granted access himself, but there would be someone who could help him get pointed in the right direction.

One ear was focused on her converstaion, and with the other, she was listening to the list of materials Armiena was requesting. Some of them would be hard to come by, but it would be an interesting challenge. She was impressed with the desire to help the lady Jedi, for one reason or another, and looked forward to doing what they could to acquire the parts she needed.

Suddenly, the Jedi sprinted away, cursing, and Brina gave Zara an amused look. A phrase along the lines of "I've always heard the life of a Jedi was a busy and unpredictable one" ran through her head, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she turned her attention back on Rod-yak Val.

"Well, actually the culprit I am looking for is a female. A wookiee to be exact, standing two meters in height with grey and tan fur. She would have contacted one of your patrons, a Mr. Thrick Allfell, while present at your casino. Her name is Crallatobuuk, and she left here about two weeks ago on a public transport. That is currently all the information I have."

Rodya, slightly annoyed by the fact that he will not be granted personal access to the security recordings he needs, waits patiently. He wants to return to his ship where he can shed the image of Rod-yak Val. He hates formalities, he never feels comfortable socializing with humans. He knows the standard protocol for speaking with superiors, but inside he detests pleasentries. His emotions do not outwardly show. A Dashade's body language is hard for humans to read since they are not used to being in contact with such creatures, but Rodya buries his emotions deep and only gives a subservient smile to Thalin.

At a distance of 20 A.U from the Casino, a ship emerged from hyperspace and immediately oriented itself to a high speed trajectory that would use the inner most and most massive gas giant to create a slingshot maneuver that would accelerate the massive Action II Cargo ship beyond its normal acceleration curves.

It took less than five minutes for the ship to reach the orbit of the gas giant and less than 4 minutes passed before the slingshot maneuver had acclerated the cargo ship to its desired speed. The completed maneuver would give the station less than ten minutes to devise a plan to save itself.

Once it completed its brief orbit of the gas giant and reached maximum velocity, the reason for the cargo ship's archaic maneuver became immediately clear. The main drive system, no longer neccessary for acceleartion shut off, and a gravity well generator kicked on, neutralizing the station's ability to enter hyperspace.

When the gravity well generator kicked on, a looped message began playing. It said in a quite cultured, calm, and bored voice, "Greetings, sentients, from the Shining Path of Purity. As one of the premier centers of vice throughout the galaxy, you have been judged and found guilty. Prepare yourselves for the sentence. The sequence repeated itself, and massive jamming equipment prevented any sort of long range communication from going out.

The broadcast, despite its looped nature, began to display irregularites after the third repititon. The irregulaties were immediately apparent to any trained Jedi as an old distress call for use when a Jedi had been incapicated.

OOC Note, I cleared this action with the Casino's owner. If you want to help, talk to her about how you can.

Ganelon's ship begins to close in on the casino, as he hails it for docking coordinates, instead receiving a static filled, looped message.

He gives a faint, rueful grimmace. "The casino a premier center of vice?" he chuckles. "Zara's good, but not that good I think. Successful perhaps, but..." He drops the power on his engines, hiding behind one of the rotating bill boards circling the casino and turns to Victoria.

"If that one ship thinks it'll be able to damage the casino, it has something else going for it. Though," he adds thoughtfully, "if it's serious about it, I wonder if Zara will use her turbo lasers to destroy it, or tractor beams to neutralize it..." He gives his lips a small lick, taking visual contact with the freighter. "I'll make you a wager of 200 credits saying she doesn't blow it up just yet."

As soon as the freighter entered the space around the Casino space station, it was monitored. With the threat made apparent the lasers on each neon sign activate. Usually their function was to prevent collision with asteroids and space junk, though they were powerful enough to stop a ships engines if they were to hit the right location. Teamed with the tractor beam that now activate as well, the engines were easily targeted, the vessel held out from the Casino at a 'safe' distance until it could be determined a true threat or not.

A scanning team of droids were sent out to the vessel to examine it, to find out if there were any explosives that could be detected, and if there were any life forms on board. There was something suss about the vessel...

~~

"I just wanted to make sure you were happy Brina, that I wasn't holding you back from anything you wanted to do. You know I consider you my sister rather than just a friend or business associate." Zara rested her hand on Brina's arm, giving it a gentle squeeze, showing her appreciation.

Turning back to the Jedi Master, Zara made note of the list of items required. "We should be able to get hold of those items. Some might take longer to acquire than others, and some with more difficulty though we should be able to manage it."

It wasn't long after that the Jedi Master sprinted away. Zara caught panic through the force, bringing her wrist unit up to speak into it as Armiena took off. "I want footage of corridor 24RX brought up on my monitor now." She held the unit so that Brina could see it as well, the pair hearing what the Jedi Master was shouting into her comlink. She gave instructions for a team to assist the Jedi Master with her current emergency.

By this time the Bounty Hunter had approached them, Brina handling it fine. She heard what was being requested, her hand touching Brina's shoulder a moment to let her know that she could handle that one while Zara saw to other business.

"We'll have to catch up for that drink later... I'll be in my office if you need me"

She excused herself, letting Brina handle Rod-yak Val as she headed firstly to check on her children, then to her office to try and catch up with the current emergencies, seeing that there was another to do with a freighter that had been captured in the tractor beams. Letting her secretary know that if anyone was looking for her she would be in the Central Control room, Zara headed there to find out what was going on with this latest drama.

Brina turned to a computer terminal nearby and used her passcode to enter the security files. She entered the parameters, having the computer search for all female Wookiees in the past few days. There were several, and when she narrowed it down by fur color, there was one match.

She was surprised that it was that simple to find. There were many Wookiees that came to the Casino. She turned to the man. "There seems to be a quick match. Obviously, this Crallatobuuk took little pains to hide herself. She left on public transport for Naboo."

She downloaded the file onto a datachip and handed it to him. "Good luck in your search, hunter."

There was nothing else to be said, so she headed away. Checking the security status of the system, she frowned, seeing they were on alert. Sighing, she headed back up to her room. There, she flopped down at her desk. Checking the status of the situation, she knew she could handle it from there and still be available for anyone who needed to see her.

One of her staff members approached her on her way to the control room, handing her a piece of parchment, stating that it was Count Shadowlord. She turned it over in her hands, taking in the seal before opening it. She looked at the flowing handwriting, reading that the Count had returned to Serenno, though was still willing to teach her in the use of the Darkside.

Zara, when next we meet, I have an offer that could benefit your Casino and you in several ways. Until we meet again Lady Zara.

I wonder what that offer could be? She was curious of what it could possibly be, though she was still cautious in alot of ways with regards to men. Yes she found the Count charming, though would keep her distance in certain matters. Zara had managed to block the bad memories of what had happened to her, it didn't mean she had forgotten it though. And then Sabian had left for who knew where... leaving her with another child. Such bad luck with men... three children to two fathers... just as well I'm from Dathomir where it doesn't matter as much as what it would at somewhere like Corellia... She regretted that her last love had gone. She missed him and it was breaking her heart... He hasn't even seen his daughter...

Pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind, she entered the Central Control room to see what was happening with the freighter that they currently held in the tractor beams. The weaponry from the signs closest were trained on it and a team of droids were currently attaching towing cables to the vessel to pull it further away from the Casino should it prove dangerous.

Rodya takes the data chip from Brina and nods politely as she turns away. He is grateful for the help, but ready to leave. He thinks briefly about stopping and speaking with Allfell again, but he knows that he has squeezed the drunk dry of all the information he contains. Allfell will not provide anymore clues, he is nothing but a waste of time. Rodya knows that from here on out he will have to find and capture the culprit on his own.

He walks back through the security checks, now even more difficult to pass through because of their heightened alert status, but the intimataing Rod-yak Val manages to pass through. He boards his ship and prepares it for departure. While he waits for the engines to ready he places the datachip into his ship's computer terminal.
