  1. Ashley's hands tightened on the controls as the freighter inched closer, her finger twitching dangerously close to the button that would let the lasers loose. Not yet, Ash... not yet. Wait. Something scrolled across the screen, and she focused her eyes on it, smirking slightly as she read it- instructions from Jaina. She tapped a few buttons, sending a quick reply, and resumed her grip on the controls, readying herself.
  2. "Get to the guns, Ash. We're in for a fight." Not hesitating for a second, Ashley ran full tilt toward the gunning turret, slipping the headset on as she dropped into the chair and strapped in. "I'm in." Three more words, added almost as an afterthought, slipped from her lips, uttered in barely more than a whisper. "Bring it on."
  3. Ashley's hands flew across the controls, trying every trick she'd ever learned to bring the engines back on-line, but to no avail. She heard Jaina come up behind her, and turned. "Great. Just great," she muttered, more to herself than to anyone else.
  4. "Uhh..." Ashley glanced down at the holster hanging from her belt. "Nope, got blaster, that's all I need," she said with a wink. I'm ready."
  5. "Eh..." Ashley hesitated for half a second before grinning at Jaina. "Why not?"
  6. "Perfect? How is that perfect?" Ashley asked as she let her sister pull her down the hallway.
  7. "Ooh..." Ashley said softly. "Listen, Jaina... we all do things we're not proud of." She smiled somewhat dryly. "They make us stronger, though, I think. They'll see... don't worry."
  8. Ashley's forehead creased in a frown at Jaina's words. "You're going to have to excuse me for being so ignorant, Jay, but I've been living on Tatooine for the past 5 years. Being hunted isn't a good thing one way or another, but... who are they?"
  9. Ashley left the mess hall and walked down the hallway, finding Jaina talking to Ish. "Hey... where's Ashley at?" "Right behind you." She grinned as her sister jumped and turned around. "What, didn't hear me?"
  10. ((OOC: Umm... Jaina's having trouble getting to jnet again, guys.)) Ashley returned to the mess hall, alone. She slipped into an empty chair at the table. "Something came up... Jay had to leave," she said apologetically to Ish.
  11. Ashley ducked her head, a somewhat bashful grin on her face. "Um... Hoth. He's the reason I was there, actually." Jaina raised an eyebrow curiously, and Ashley elaborated. "I'd been hanging out on Tatooine for a while, and I had this vision. I got two words- "Find me"- and two images- one of Hoth, the other of Andon, though I didn't know it at the time- out of it... so off to Hoth I went, from one extreme to the other. I picked a great time to show up, too... right as the Jedi were being attacked. Long story short, Orrick- friend of Andon's- ended up keeping me safe through the battle until Andon showed up. We were at Helix Station for a little bit, then we came here... and that pretty much catches us up to the moment."
  12. Ashley whispered something in Jaina's ear, a conspiratorial smirk on her face as she glanced at Andon out of the corner of her eye. He looked at the two sisters suspiciously, drawing a burst of laughter from both of them. "Poor guy doesn't know what he's getting himself into," Ashley joked, winking at Jaina. "C'mon, let's find Ish and head to the mess hall... Andon's not the only one who's hungry."
  13. "To tell you the truth, I've got no clue who's in charge... haven't been here that long myself. Maybe Andon'll know..." Ashley bit her lip as they came to a junction in the corridors. "Hangar is..... this way." The two continued down the hallway until finally the door to the hangar came into view. Ashley led Jaina inside, her eyes searching the entire enclosure until she saw Andon off near one of the fighters, talking to Hale and someone else. "Come on, I'll introduce ya."
  14. "You and me both, little sister," Ashley said, wrapping one arm around her sister's shoulders. "If someone would've told me a month ago that I'd be here right now I probably would've laughed at them. But... things change." She paused for a moment, still grinning. "Geez, Jay, I can't believe it's been so long... and here I am forgetting my manners." She extended her hand to Ish. "Nice to meet you, Ish." After shaking Ish's hand, she turned back to Jaina. "Now... if you'd like to meet the reason I'm here, I can take you to the hangar and introduce to you him."
  15. Ashley's wandering took her back to the main chamber, where she had begun. She paused for a moment, considering what to do next, when she heard a very familiar voice. "Ash ... ? Ashley? Is it you? It's me...Jaina." No way... It can't be... She whipped her head around, her eyes scanning over the crowd until they settled on a very familiar face. "Jaina?" She felt a grin spread over her face as she made her way across the room to where she stood. "Jaina!"
  16. "Actually, I was just wandering around a bit. It's a big place..." Ashley replied, shrugging. "It's nice to see you again, as well... and I'm grateful for the offer of somewhere to stay."
  17. Ashley casually shoved her hands into her pockets and walked in out of the pouring rain, noting that Andon stayed to talk to whoever it was that had met them. Her eyes flicked around, taking in her new surroundings. Big place... no one's gonna mind if I wander around a bit, neh? Just better hope I don't get lost... Carefully paying attention to where she was going, Ashley wandered down one of the corridors.
  18. Ashley carefully guided her fighter down through Hoth's atmosphere. "Klik, run a scan, stick anything interesting up on the display." She kept her hands steady on the yoke as Hoth's winds buffeted the craft, threatening to take it off on some wild tangent. Ashley blinked in surprise as something scrolled across the display. "You're getting life readings from a large structure not far from here?" Who in the world is crazy enough to live on this ice block... "I guess that's where we're heading, at any rate..." The X-wing veered, changing its course slightly. Ashley squinted slightly, trying to see through the snow. Nothing was visible at first, but slowly, she caught sight of the structure Klik had found on the scanners. "There it is... Get ready to land." The X-wing dove toward the ground before leveling out again, the thrusters firing to slow its descent. The landing gear unfolded from its compartments in the bottom of the fighter, and the craft gently settled onto the snow, blowing a bit of it around in a miniature snow storm before it settled to the ground again. Ashley pulled the parka she had brought with her from behind her seat, pulling it on and zipping it up before she popped the canopy open and dropped to the snow-covered ground. She shivered as the wind hit her, blowing her hair out behind her for a moment before she pulled the hood of the parka up. Klik, from his socket in the back, closed the fighter's canopy, and Ashley began the walk toward the structure, not knowing what she'd find.
  19. Ashley awoke to the shrill whistling of her astromech, feeling disoriented for a moment before she remembered where she was. "I hear ya, I'm up," she assured Klik, rubbing her hand across her eyes. She blinked and looked up, her breath catching in her throat as she saw Hoth hanging silently in space before her. "And of course you waited until after you had pulled us out of hyperspace to wake me up," she muttered, more to herself than to the droid. "Well... might as well get down there." Taking the controls, Ashley guided the fighter down through Hoth's atmosphere.
  20. Ashley left Tatooine. "Okay, Klik, plot a jump to Hoth, will ya?" The astromech beeped a quick affirmative and quickly completed the task, scrolling a reply across the display screen to alert Ashley that the calculations were done. "Okay, then... here we go..." She activated the fighter's hyperdrive, sending the ship into the vortex of hyperspace. And in the silence of space, Ashley had time to think about what she was doing. I must be crazy. Chasing after someone I've never met, never heard of, and all because of a vision. Seems the Force didn't want a quiet life for me, after all... With a sigh, Ashley leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes, trying to find sleep during her journey.
  21. Ashley arrived at Mos Espa shortly after the dawning of Tatooine's twin suns, waving her thanks to the moisture farmer that had offered her a ride. As he drove his speeder away, she turned and walked toward the docking bay where her X-wing was waiting. She put in her request for clearance to leave as she checked over her fighter to ensure it was still in good condition. Klik, the R3 unit anchored securely to his socket in the back, whistled something, the translation scrolling across the display screen in the cockpit. Ashley climbed the ladder to the cockpit halfway, peering in at the screen. "Oh, good... We can leave then." She swung herself into the cockpit the rest of the way, reaching for her flight helmet as she settled into her seat. The canopy closed and sealed shut, nad the X-wing left the ground, heading for open space.
  22. In a small hut in Tatooine's desert, someone sleeps. A disturbed sleep, full of tossing and turning. White. Everywhere. For miles and miles, the only thing visible was white. And with the white came extreme, bone-chilling cold, made even worse by high winds. Desolation, everywere. A man's face. Light brown hair with highlights throughout, hazel eyes. The flash of a green blade, humming and cutting through the air, the sound of a blaster The black of space, and then the vortex of hyperspace, ending above a white planet. More white. Presumably the same as before. What was this? "Find me." With a start, Ashley Jade Skywalker wakes, jerking upright. Sweat pours down her face, her breathing coming hard. She stands, going over to the small window and looking out at the night sky, wishing there were a breeze to cool her hot face. What in the galaxy was that? It had been no ordinary dream, that was certain. The last words seemed to echo through her head. Find me. "Find you, huh?" Ashley mutters to herself. "How am I supposed to find you when I don't even know who you are?" She turns from the window and paces back and forth. There aren't very many places in the galaxy covered in white... Hoth. Ashley rubs hand across her face. Why in the world did it have to be Hoth? The bitter cold... not at all like the scorching heat of Tatooine. I guess I need a change, anyway. Decision made, Ashley pulls her travel bag from underneath her bed and begins to pack.
