  1. "HEY...this would be a good time to move..." I'm moving, I'm moving. Kayla muttered through the Force, hurrying to the door. The two stormtroopers were still outside. Quickly, she returned to the Jedi robes and changed back into them, grasping the lightsaber hidden inside. ((This is not cheating, she really has had this all along.)) Now, as for those stormtroopers... The door flew open and a bright flash of light struck out, slicing off the arm of the nearest stormtrooper. Before his companion had time to respond, he found his head flying swiftly to the floor to join the severed arm. The lightsaber plunged back, buried deep into the chest of the other stormtrooper and he fell to the floor. Her escourt otherwise occupied, Kayla shot out at a Force run. Where are you? "This way!" Kayla broke off, following the voice of her mother, trusting her to lead her the right way.
  2. Kayla watched Renin leave with a sad sigh and she almost stopped him. But, she didn't. She let him go. But as he left, she couldn't help feeling that he took a part of her with him. "What am I doing?" she muttered under her breath. Now that she was alone again, she should probably get ready for the banquet she was 'invited' to.
  3. He was going to kiss her. In a way, she wanted him to, but still, could she really do as he asked and just...forget that they came from two totally opposite sides? Forget that this went against everything... As his lips neared hers, everything else disapeared... Kayla felt her arms slide around Renin's neck, felt him pull her close, his heart beating...and her own. Her breath caught. And abruptly, she pulled back, shaking her head. "Don't."
  4. "Why do you always look away? Is it because I am a Sith?" Kayla bit her lip and then lifted her eyes to meet his, "I..." Her voice trailed off, he really looked like he honestly cared. In his eyes, in the way he looked at her... Then the other Sith spoke from behind Renin, breaking the moment. She listened to what he had to say, and then responded sharply, "Then you are the fool. You seek power, when you should know, power will get you nowhere. You will seek power all your life, and then, when you think you finally have it... Along will come someone with more power than you and snuff you out. You will be finished, left to regenerate in a cloning tube on some planet. That...is your destiny." Her gaze shifted from the fool to Renin and she turned away, again reminded of just who he was...
  5. Kayla sighed, "They're fine." Maybe she shouldn't sound so rude, afterall, he sounded genuinely concerned, but he was still a Sith; her enemy. Of course, he somehow had a way of making her forget that. He also had a way of seeming not so evil... For a moment, she looked up, her eyes meeting his. And for that moment, she found herself forgetting again. But as soon as she realized it, she quickly looked away, reminding herself of who he was. Of who she was.
  6. Kayla sighed as she heard the voice from outside her door. She recognized who it was, but really didn't want to talk to anyone--especially not him--right now. But, she opened the door for him anyway. ((Sorry it's short. ))
  7. It was an interesting question, one that Kayla would have to think about for a moment before responding. Well, she could tell him she chose to 'yield' because she was afraid of dieing, but that wasn't true. She wasn't afraid of dieing. But perhaps she could still do the Jedi some good here. "You ask why I chose not to die, and I ask why you choose to live a life of death." And, seeing that she'd arrived at the room the Emperor had had prepared for her, she entered and left the Sith standing outside to think over her question. Inside, Kayla stopped, suddenly really realizing that she was on a hostile planet, surrounded by the enemies of everything she believed in. And, she was alone.
  8. "I will not turn to the dark side," Kayla said softly but seriosly, "All my life I have lived following my emotions, and, seeking revenge. But it has gotten me nothing but a life of pain." She met his gaze evenly as she spoke and without fear, "The Sith may well be able to feel love, and even compassion. "But so can the Jedi. Our very code, as you probably know, is based upon peace and compassion. Because, without it--love, compassion--we are nothing, we might as well not exist. "Now, you can try all you want to turn me into what you want me to be, but I won't waver from what I believe." Her chin lifted in calm defiance, "Now, if you will excuse me, apparently I have to get ready for a banquet."
  9. "Why does she run? Why does she defy his majesty Emperor Yahn?" Several choice words flitted through Kayla's mind, but she thought better of provoking the already enraged Emperor. Before she could respond, she was thrown roughly to the ground where she was electocuted several times. She instinctively clamped her mouth shut against the cries of pain, silent but defiant. "Do you yield?" What a stupid question. Why would a Jedi willingly choose to yield to such a slimy, worm-ridden piece of... She mentally pushed away the waves of pain and pushed herself up away from the ground, raising her eyes to meet his defiantly, but silently. If she was to die, so be it. But could she really 'yield' and give in to this...this monster? But, if she didn't... She would probably die, just like Zane and her master already had. "Trust your instincts, Kayla..." The calm voice echoed through her mind again and Kayla welcomed the peace and reasurance it brought. Her fingers clenched the lightsaber in her hand and she stood, maintaining eye contact with the evil man standing and waiting for her reply. Her jaw twitched and then... Her eyes slid shut and she tossed the lightsaber in her hand to the Sith's feet. He had won. For now. "This isn't over."
  10. Kayla's lightsaber ignited in her hand and she sidestepped the attack of the Sith and slammed her foot into the small of his back. Then, her left hand reached out and she threw him back with a powerful Force-push. She twirled her saber up into a defensive position but then staggered as a ripple traveled through the Force. Scorp... If he wasn't dead yet, he was very much on his way there. She could sense the dark presence of the Sith Lord approaching and anger welled up inside of her. She could kill him, make him pay for what he had done. But, that was not the way of the Jedi. It may have been her way for a long time before, but she would like to think that the months in training had changed her, made her into someone better than that. Now faced with a choice, she had only a moment to debate her options and come to a decision as the two Sith closed on her. Her eyes slid shut and she reached out with the Force, drawing it's strength and peace into her. The anger and rage that she had felt building within her dissipated and she came to a decision. There was nothing left here for her but revenge, revenge for her Master, revenge for her friend. Anger and hate, they led to the dark side. She would not fall. "Go, Kayla, run." The familiar voice of Kayla's mother spoke into her mind and she complied, suddenly flying upwards and back some distance away with the aid of the Force. As soon as her feet hit the ground, she was running, her active lightsaber still in her hand. Her booted feet pounded the ground quietly and with dizzying speed as she ran with Force-aided speed back to Scorp's ship. ((edited for spelling))
  11. "These are the codes to deactivate the blockade, and this is my DNA. Your Master is dead, and I'll be joining him soon. Run." Kayla glanced back at the Sith with no small amount of confusion. It had to be a trap, why else would he be doing this? But he seemed to be genuine in his attempt to help her escape. Although, that really didn't mean much. He could just as well be acting sincere to fool her. But for now, she would take the datapad and run, but she wasn't sure if she would actually go or not. Her master was not dead yet, she could still sense him through the Force and she was unwilling to just leave him here alone, surrounded by enemies. Out of sight of both Renin and the other, she stopped to weigh her options. She could run, of course. And right now, that seemed like the best option. But, really, she wasn't the type to run from a fight. However, as a Jedi, she had an obligation to uphold peace and justice... But she also had an obligation to her master. Her decision was made, despite the fact that she would likely die. Pocketing the datapad, she grasped the hilt of her lightsaber and pulled it from her belt. The odds were very much not in the favor of the Jedi, but maybe she could even those odds out a bit.
  12. Trapped, Kayla could only watch helplessly as the battle unfolded before her. The Sith Lord apparently couldn't make up his mind on whether he wanted them dead or not. And, Kayla might not have minded the fight so much, if only she was able to help! With nothing else to do, Kayla opened herself up to the Force and let it strengthen her and give her peace. Now...how could she get out of this mess... ((Short post...again... ))
  13. ((Zane's actions posted with permission. )) Kayla could only stare in shock as the newly pinkified Zane sang, and then was abruptly shut off by the Emperor, who apparently didn't like his singing all that much. And now, Zane was motioning with his hands to make up for the fact that he no longer had any vocal chords. What he was spelling out with his gestures was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen... And now, to add to the surprise of seeing a bright pink Vader suit, the Emperor offered to make a deal with Scorp. Kayla looked to Scorp in surprise and listened as he spoke. Would he really do it? Would he really make a deal? She glanced to the Emperor as Scorp asked, "What kind of deal are we talking here?" ((Lame post. ))
  14. As the ship rapidly descended into the atmosphere, 'the passenger' did as Scorp advised and grabbed ahold of some pipes above her head, promptly releasing them and shifting her grip when she found them to be somewhat...warm. The ship shook as it rapidly desenced into the planet's atmosphere and Kayla found herself glad to be hanging on to something. If she hadn't been, she would probably end up sprawled across the floor like an idiot. The ship came in quickly and abruptly, landing less than gently and throwing Kayla forward. She caught herself before slamming to the floor and braced herself as the ship slid along the ground, shaking it's passengers. While Scorp busied himself doing whatever he was doing, Kayla stood and brushed herself off. She'd ended up on the floor anyway... Scorp handed her a pancho and she pulled it on before following him out of the ship and taking a quick look at the planet. "I don't know the situation on this planent so we must be careful. We should stick to the shadows. Come on we have a hike ahead of us." Kayla nodded and fell into step with Scorp, also becoming one with the shadows, so to speak.
  15. Kayla blinked slowly as Renin's eyes bored into hers, an intense look passing between the two. For a moment time froze and Kayla forgot where she was, that she was on a planet during a fierce battle between good and evil. For a moment, a very brief moment, she even almost forgot who she was; a Jedi. Suddenly realitly crashed down on her again and she shoved the Sith back off of her and rolled to her feet, flipping her lightsaber up into a defensive position and preparing to attack. "Kayla, listen..." Came the urgent, disembodied voice of Ser'a, Kayla's mother. "Go..." Kayla stopped suddenly, 'go'? Go where? In the Force she suddenly felt a disturbance, something was wrong, although Kayla didn't know what. "Go! The voice repeated urgently and Kayla complied. The Sith suddenly flew backwards as an enourmous invisible ball of Force energy smashed into him, pinning him to the wall briefly. The wall crumbled as Kayla concentrated, pulling at the wall with the Force and collapsing it on top of the Sith. Turning quickly, she ran, allowing the Force to guide her, lead her to where she was supposed to go. As she ran through the trees, she was aware of a presence with her, one she recognized as her mother. What was the urgency? She had to wonder.
  16. Kayla stopped and backed away suddenly, opening herself to the Force, letting it flow through every part of her. As she concentrated, she reached out with the Force, feeling her surroundings and becoming one, one with the Force. She brought her lightsaber up into a defensive posture, doing her best to rid herself of the emotions she had felt earlier. This time when she attacked, her movements were smoother, more controlled and less reckless, more cautious. The Sith was slowly pushed back again as Kayla swiftly attacked. The Force tingled through every cell in Kayla's body, giving her strength and power, although, power was not what she sought. Rather, she sought peace and justice, as the Jedi code taught. But she also could not deny what she felt, and what she felt was an unexplainable feeling of ... love. Confusion threatened to creep in and Kayla struggled to keep control, to stay above her feelings and emotions. Emotions could very easily lead to the darkside, something which Kayla could not and would not allow to happen.
  17. As the Sith gazed into her eyes, Kayla suddenly realized that they were void of the hate she had expected, filled with an emotion she hadn't expected; love. Love and, perhaps, some confusion. For a moment, they stood there, unmoving, their eyes locked. Suddenly Kayla shoved Renin back with a powerful Force push, breaking the moment in panic. He was a Sith. She was a Jedi. It was simple enough. They should hate each other, kill each other, fight until one or the other lay maimed or dieing. But that was not what she had been feeling...and for that, she would probably hate herself forever... As Renin regained his footing, Kayla attacked again, her fury doubled as well as the speed of her lightsaber. In a particularily violent and powerful attack, she knocked his saber away.
  18. The Force alerted Kayla to the attack moments before it happened and she spun, blocking the Sith Lord's attack with her lightsaber. As the Sith pushed at her lightsaber, she recognized him; he was the Sith Scorp had fought on Coruscant. Not only fought, but killed. Breaking away from the lock their sabers were in, Kayla flipped over the Sith and swung at his back. He spun quickly and blocked her attack. As their sabers locked once again, the Sith suddenly shoved her back. Kayla landed on the ground. She really had to stop being knocked down... Flipping to her feet, Kayla spun her lightsaber quickly and attacked quickly and ferociously, her movements quick and precise. Slowly, she drove the Sith back, her movements increasing in speed until her lightsaber was a bright blue blur of light. Suddenly, she broke off her attack and kicked the Sith in the chest, sending him flying back.
  19. As Kayla's ship descended into the atmosphere of Borleais, the first thing she saw was the smoking wreakage of the Dojo, reduced to rubble by the Sith. The second thing was the lights on the control panel going out as the ship died. "Oh, not now, not now!" Kayla muttered as she tried to get the ship's engines started again. Nothing she did seemed to work as the ship rapidly descended towards the surface. Okay, well, this may have not been such a good idea. As the ship neared the surface, Kayla slammed a fist into the controls and the ship sputtered to life, its rusty engines finally coming alive again. Although the descent was rapid and she was coming in way too fast, Kayla pulled on the controls and managed to level the ship's descent with the aide of the force. A loud roar rattled the buildings below as the ship flew over, snapping tree branches, scattering the local wildlife and busting eardrums. Pulling the ship up in a wide arc, Kayla quickly searched for a suitable place to land and brought the ship in fast, barely slowing enough for a halfway decent landing. The ramp lowered as soon as the ship touched the ground and Kayla hurried out, her lightsaber activated and in hand. She was not here to die, and definately not to turn to the darkside. She was here because the Force had brought her here for some unknown reason. Perhaps she would find out soon...
  20. The light freighter shook violently as it jumped to hyperspace and Kayla hurried to stabalize the old rusty bucket of bolts. During the trip to Borleais, she worked to fix as many of the systems as she could during the brief trip.
  21. Kayla turned as the hopeful approached, sensing his uncertainty through the Force, she also sensed that he was somewhat afraid. Through the Force, she sent him a small package of peace and reassurance before answering his question. "I'm sure we could find some food somewhere around here," She glanced quickly to Zane, hoping that he knew of some, otherwise, there might be a problem. Do you have any extra food on your ship? She asked through the Force. Although, they might be able to scrounge up some food from around the base. Despite the fact that it would probably be a bit...dated, to say the least. EDIT ((What the heck, storylines call... *sigh*)) She had to go, for some unexplainable reason she felt as though she was needed on Borleais. Even though her master probably wouldn't like it, she had to be there. "I'm sorry, Zane, but I have to go to Borleais. I don't know why yet, but I must go." Hurriedly she turned and entered the YT-2400 and started the engines, well, she tried to start them anyway. After several futile attempts and a well aimed smack on the contol panel, it started with a loud roar and some considerable shaking. All the while hoping that she was making the right decision, Kayla piloted the ship off the ground and into the atmosphere, blasting into space on her way to the Dojo.
  22. For a moment, Kayla was torn. More than anything, she wanted to go to Borleais, to help her fellow Jedi. But she also knew that she was probably not ready, also that she and Zane were, technically, the ranking Jedi here and that the hopefuls and other padawans would likely depend on them. Although, she hoped the Sith would not come here, but then, anything was possible, however unlikely. With a small sigh, she turned to Zane, "Well, if I could get this hunk of junk running," She said and kicked the hull of the ship, "Then we'd have another ship. As for anything else..." She paused for a moment in thought. "We could always throw rocks at them, that seems to work pretty well." She said with a grin and a small laugh. "But seriously, no I don't at the moment. I'm sure we will, though."
  23. Kayla silently stepped out of Zane's ship and took a deep breath, not following him as he walked away to speak with Aryian. This was where it had all began, where she had come when she first sought out the Jedi. It hadn't changed much... Suddenly thinking of something, she headed over towards the temple and looked around quickly. Yes ... there it was, the old, borrowed freighter she'd come in. As she walked through the overgrown weeds towards the ship, she smiled ironically. She had really meant to take it back when she was done with it, but had yet to get the chance. Well, perhaps she could use it until she found such an opportunity. The ship had collected quite a bit of rust during its time on the planet, it was also fairly well choked with overgrown plant life. And the YT-2400 had seen better days, that was for sure. It would take a lot of work to get it fixed up and in good running condition again, but Kayla was a fairly good mechanic. But not now; now she had other things to attend to. First and foremost, she had to find out why the Jedi were moving again.
  24. Kayla glanced quickly to her master and then jogged after Zane and followed him into his ship. Off to Haruun Kal...
