  1. ((Far be it from me, to craft random items of furniture...)) A faint sigh escaped his lips as the harshness of crate finally registered... "Oh... its a crate." He blinked, smiling at Emily's tale... "Are you learning to fly like Uncle Andon?" His hand scratched his chin... "Oh, hi Alora... you're not a stiff, anymore... congratulations."
  2. John stumbled into the room... to find all assorted parties gathered in the same place, "Oh... lava...did I step in it? No... good." He fell into a large comfortable chair, bringing a fairly exhausted hand to his equally drained face, his eyes blinked a few times and a tuxedo order was placed... as well, as the final comminiques to the Golden Link Casino. "So... how was your trip with Uncle Andon and Auntie Jai, Emily?"
  3. After being bored to death by the Noghri patriarch and matriarch's reports... John settled into Sirvani and his quarters... shaving and deciding on early sleep. Letting his guests mellow about and he'd discuss finalities with the Golden Link in the morning...
  4. That was an exhilirating read, well done by both authors. Haphaestus appears to have a clear victory as you read early on in the duel, the simple, unrelenting domination of machine-man over frail man would make anyone want to make that conclusion near the beginning, and Ian's ability with word-play and attitude are really both benefitting this. However, just the same, Nom picks up by the later 'half' of the duel. At first, desperation sets in, and his attacks become more human instinct, which is both admirable and respectable. Finally, in the third post, he made the clincher, can Haphaestus' programming cope with the indeterminable chaos about him. Which, was an awesome leap for the character's mindset. As much as I'd like to say No and let the good guy-under dog prevail, physics is actually based on Uncertainty; particle physics is only limited by the human factor of coping with probability, but for a more sophisticated technological universe, one in which Haphaestus was crafted, it should be able to compensate more quickly. Not to mention, he was conceived and honored by a Chaos God. To vote on particulars, Nom's strike should connect with Haphaestus, perhaps as far as the inner chassis (unless it is infact, made of phrik), from my perspective, but with enough impetus to allow Haphaestus to utter the final strike in calculated recoil, if Ian chooses to kill Nom. Regardless, that shuttle is going to crash, and the victor is going to come out of it pretty banged up... with all that taken into account, the victor, by a splintered-off mechanical thread and with needs for an oil-bath and sophisticated repair-work, is Haphaestus. Congratulations to both authors for a duel very well-fought. -Marc It is also important to note, that it seems that Haphaestus is far more in control of the Dark Side than Nom is of the Light, which was another part of reaching my decision. And, while it is minute in signficance, when duels are close, you have to consider every and all aspects of it, to make your decision.
  5. I'd appreciate the deletion of this post.
  6. As the A-wing's pilot succumbed to the mild inebriation at his immediate disposal, his expression began to change, dawning a stupor at the sheer brilliance of the blurred stars about him. At best, he knew, subconsciously, the decay that awaited him... the decay he caused by succumbing to the will of instinct, to the desire to aid that which had been considered Evil. To rid the lethargic democratic beast from Coruscant... yet, how could he have known what would replace it... would be... self-destruction. He drank some more of the firey liquid, letting it settle in his mind, numbing the Force and what it was that he felt. Still... the ship buzzed on by, and the former Sith Master, wallowed in what was, at best, regret...
  7. John seemed absorbed in a long-winded thought until it was Emily that smashed him across the Temple with her gummy ring, startling the old man out of his revelry. The dishevelled grey hair quickly moved about, just as the wild eyes followed in suit... he needed to see Coruscant, see what his actions had caused... to see what was occuring to the galaxy as he sat around on Raxus Prime while the rest of the galaxy burned. It'd be only a matter of time, before he himself was burned by the cross-fire, but exile was what it was. In truth, even he was a little antsy. Leaving Emily to sit next to the Noghri nursemother, preferring to not bother Sirvani as she trained, knowing full well the draining effects of Force VII, he moved into the hangar and boarded one of his favorites, the crotch-rocket of this galaxy far, far away... the A-wing. The little ship's engines whined before rocketing him off into the cold, blackness of space...

  9. OOC: haha IC: John looked at it and offered it to Emily, "Now, this is what you should bite down, not people."
  10. "Raynuk is quite the estranged soul, I think he changed his name near the end... before he dissappeared, anyway, Quietus. It was part of Havoc's little plan of dischord amidst the younger Masters, myself included." Shaking his head, "It doesn't really matter though, Ryu and Montar were pushovers, if you cut the wrong wire on Ryu's body, he'd be liable to blow up." Laughing... "I think she needs some teething tools."
  11. "Maybe, I think it was called the Millenium... Millenium... Millenium Rustbucket? Not really, she's been scrapped there for ages... I could have fixed her, but she looked like she needed to be put out of her misery. And we do have the little Nubian fleet, of ours, with its complementary Eta-2s and A-wings." He smirked, "At least it wasn't something valuable, you know?"
  12. John laughed, "So, what comes first, teething or temper tantrums? Or are just lucky enough to get the double-whammy." He rubbed his head, which he had accidentally smacked on the control board... accidentally launching a rocket into space, striking one of the orbiting junkyard ships, before exploding the scrapped YT-1300 in a fiery explosion several kilometers from the tower structure. It just added to a little fireworks.
  13. "Teeth... teeth, that means teething. Like stuff she needs to bite down on that isn't people." Looking sternly at Emily, "Don't bite people and don't hit people, its not nice," then acting like confused parents he smacked her light, mostly for the sound effect than for pain, on the behind and said "Don't do it again."
  14. John nodded, "You know I can get a bit paranoid." He brought Emily down on his lap, "Also, these guns patrol the Ewok North Raxus Prime line, just in the event of any other form of trouble."
  15. John lifted Emily up and carried her in his arms to the upstairs, to find Sirvani resting, "There's some security measures for Raxus I wanted to show you, I don't think you've been in that office, yet... it's a strange cramped room, practically invisible to the rest of the facility." It wasn't far out of the way from anywhere, it was just hard to find and looked like a giant maintenance closet. "It's got access to just about every computer network in the structure. From things as simple to the environmental controls, 'fresher units, up through defenses, camera systems, and the several turbolaser sentry stations and ion cannons all about the perimeter. I figure, in case anything happens, you should be able to access it... no one but I could up until now. Just in case." He lifted Emily up and smiled, "It helps to be prepared, I guess."
  16. Holding Emily in his arms he just sat there for awhile, truth was he'd need to get to work too... there were things he needed to make clear about Raxus, things that he'd forgotten to explain to Sirvani. Yet, he was almost too eager to just play with his daughter for little while longer before he'd get all... serious.
  17. "We can hit people, just not the people who change your diaper. I'm too grey to teach her right from wrong, I might as well teach her the way I do things, but I have to admit... it was a good hit." This could be difficult...
  18. His body crumpling back, John rubbed his head to find a large crimson patch on his forehead, "She just smacked me in the head..." With his eyes shuffling side-to-side, he tried to come up with something... "Bad Emily. Don't do that!" Not nearly as effective as it sounded in his head, but he got up anyways, just in case...
  19. "Tethyn shouldn't be forgotten, either... he may be insane, but he's a good kid... or rather a really evil one, but still, worth the invite." He laughed, and found the block in his hand orbiting about Emily's... John's eye crinkled, "She catches on quick... I don't envy anyone who opposes her." A burp exited her, followed by a long giggle...
  20. OOC: How was the show and all of that? I prolly should Pm you to talk randomly, but I like breaking a few rules. IC: John looked at Emily as she played, "As soon as we have them, I'd say... I should really get in contact with Lord Correlli, wouldn't want to just spring the responsibility on him." He knelt down beside Emily and held one block in his palm before levitating it, "You think she'll catch on... or should I not rush her? Her abilities intrigue me too much, I suppose."
  21. John looked at his daughter as she stood up, before long, she even took a few steps towards Sirvani, before she fell around her leg. "You know, this means, she could be lighting the room on fire before we know it..."
  22. John's eyes opened wide, "She is indeed, she's aging rapidly. I wondered if it was a genetic trait that would pass on or just the impact of being conceived partly by the Force." It was a strange expression, but John remembered Bishop and Tarrian's daughter, she aged much more rapidly, almost two-thirds of her parent's before a few months had passed... only then did her aging slow down to normal patterns. In either case, John's own age advanced much faster than most... so, perhaps it was a combination of both? The entire delay of questioning was quickly pushed aside, when Emily's fingers wrapped around her father's and promptly smashed it into the curb excitedly....
  23. "The decor is quite nice, perhaps a few flowers?" John's eyes wandered about when a strange sound came from the baby monitor, giggles and banging against the crib... John's eyes peered over, his eyebrow making a strange gesture of confusion? "She can't be standing up, can she?"
  24. His eyes shifted, "Kheldar maybe? A Sith or Jedi Priest?" His mind started calculating a list and it started to draw blank... "Well, there's a few people, but I think open-sort of invitation would more our style." He thought about her bridesmaid's comment, "I guess friend's are something we really have... casual acquaintainces, maybe... I guess that's what I like about my life. No constancy, except you..." OOC: Due to real-life situations, take as long as you'd like... I have Finals coming up, too. So, difficulties will occur in the near future.
  25. "I like it." He kissed her, "I think its brilliant. They can cater. Excellent idea. And keeping them from killing eachother... that's quite do-able." John smirked, "Who'd perform the ceremony?" "The Golden Link, Colos, a few Jedi, a few Sith, Ryu, whoever... really."
