  1. "You got chosen!" Jurha exclaimed excitedly. She jumped up and threw her arms around his neck hugging him quickly. She let him go and stepped back. "I'm so excited for you!! You're gonna be a Knight now, Darex this is great! I know this must mean a lot to you!" Jurha wondered for a momment if she was overwhelming Darex, but she pushed the thought aside. "You have to drop me a line and tell me how everything is going every now and again! Who knows how long I might have to wait," Jurha sighed. "We're gonna miss you here, but I guess this place is kinda come and go. I'll contact you if something cool happens here. Not to hold you up buddy, but have you seen Armiena or Shanti?"
  2. Jurha glanced out of the corner of her eye at the man who spoke to Aryian. His presence was commanding and came to Jurha as one of the types she didn't want to cross. He was one of the ones to have arrivied recently. "I think someone is here to see you..." Jurha said. She stepped out of her fighting stance and switched off Aryian's lightsaber. She held it out in the air hesitating before she returned it. There is love and pain and death in this weapon. Jurha hoped the weapon and its owner would find more happiness in the future. She dropped the saber in into Aryian's hand. "Thank you, Aryian." She glanced back at the man. "I'm gonna go now, but don't worry. I'll try to use the Force and rely less on my instincts. Oh, I didn't tell you my name did I? I'm Jurha Kahn. Just so you know." Jurha was hesitant about leaving. She wanted to know what this man had to say and instinctively it was in her nature to gather information for use later. Stop being so nosey, Kahn. Jurha desided she'd go find Darex, Armiena, and Shanti. Maybe talk to the Zeb kid. He hadn't been to dinner. Maybe they could go get dessert and take him along. Jurha grinned inwardly. Jurha wandered out of the training room off to find her friends.
  3. ((Quite alright.)) Jurha's brain numbed for a second while Aryian flipped above her. What? He's behind me. What? Keep spinning. Jurha continued with her slash going counter-clockwise in a spin, but wasn't thinking of much else besides turning around. Suddenly and completely unaware of why Jurha jumped tucking her knees under her. She looked down to see Aryian's lightsaber pass beneath her. How did I know to do that? Jurha thought. She landed staring at her feet wondering why she knew to jump then. She was distracted and off guard although her left arm was still up to defent her face if need be.
  4. Jurha watched how Aryian held his lightsaber and mimiced him. She thought perhaps she'd be able to attack faster this way. Her left hand she held clenched near her face like a boxer, just like her father had trained her to. She grinned. She stepped forward staying low and slashed the lightsaber horizontally from the outside across her body aiming again somewhere in the middle. She began to feel the lightsaber opening up and beginning to tell her its secrets...
  5. "Er... If you say so..." Jurha said nervously. She quickly put on one of the training suits Aryian had previously mentioned. She pulled an elastic band off her wrist, pulled her hair back, and wrapped the band around her hair. She picked up Aryian's lightsaber again. She sensed the intense feelings Aryian had for his weapon. Pride and dependency and surprisingly respect. ((Jurha can semi-detect the past of most objects she picks up. Usually just emotional finger prints left by the owner. Often the skill works for places too.)) Jurha ignited the blade and watched a beam of light grow out of the hilt. She waved it around a little realizing the weapon was infact weightless, aside from the handle. "Okay," Jurha said steading her resolve, "Here I come." She griped the blade in her right hand with her left behind it. She lunged forward stabbing from the hip at the center of Aryian's chest.
  6. ((I'm extremely confused too Var. Aryian I can't remember if my character knows your name or not, but for sanity's sake my writing will use your name. Maybe we should use a visual discriptive feature about our selves in our writing to make it easier for characters who haven't been introduced to us yet. For example, Jurha is a teenage girl with auburn/red hair. So "Oh look a red haired girl is sitting across the room.")) Jurha sat near where Aryian the padawan was preparing to show everyone, or who ever was left in the training room a few things about lightsabers. Things seemed to be quiting down down around the place, if at least for a momment. New arrivals were settling some place else around the Dojo. Jurha hoped she'd be able to get some sleep after this lesson and a bath. She hadn't slept feeling completely safe for weeks. Clean sheets would be a blessing. She tucked a few loose strands of her red hair back behind her ears and reached for Aryian's other lightsaber he had put down. Jurha exmained the tool carefully, not wanting to switch it on. To her knowledge the lightsaber was a powerful cutting weapon and she wanted to keep all her body part attached. "You want to teach us how to use these?" Jurha said to Aryian skeptically, "Aren't they advanced? And kinda dangerous?"
  7. ((You posted while I was writing it. =P)) Jurha was starting to get the hang trusting her instincts in helping deflect the disks when the Jedi Knight who had randomly jumped in the training session switched it off nearly as soon as he entered. "Hey!" Jurha whined. The knight began explaining who he was to everyone. Jurha picked up her poles and offered to put up everyone else's while they listened to Nahstaa. Jurha rolled her eyes as she put the poles away in their racks against the wall. She went back to the group and stood between Shanti and Armiena with her arms crossed. She fingered the lightsaber crystal around her kneck. Her mind buzzed with the messages left by the crystal's former owner. Patience. Jurha gave a frustrated sigh. No, thanks I'll think I'll pass up on patience tonight. She let the crystal drop from her fingers. "I'm Jurha Kahn. Most of us got here today, so don't get your hopes up too high on blasting out of here quickly."
  8. ((Nyuuuuu. Nahstaa. You ruined my post. *pout* Oh well.))
  9. ((I hate RL life.)) "Hmmm, I guess I'll have to hold you to that sparing match after this," Jurha said with a grin at Darex. They walked to the center of the room preparing to deflect the disks. Jurha watched the little alien break his pole in two to make two weapons. Jurha mimiced him and held the halved pole in each hand. "Don't worry, Shanti. I haven't done this either," Jurha said as she stood with her back agianst Shanti's, "But I've got your back if you've got mine!" Jurha held up her left pole to hopefully deflect a disk coming in at her face.
  10. Jurha walked into the training room and looked around at everyone who had already arrived. Armeina, the Sith, and a new arrival in the form of a small alien speices Jurha couldn't identify. Darex is probably on his way. Jurha wondered what he had gone off to do. Jurha tossed off her black flight jacket and picked up one of the poles. She began trying out the moves the droid had played to everyone in the air, hoping she didn't look rediculus. Where is Shant? Jurha pondered as she slashed the pole through the air.
  11. Jurha listened to Darex's story. "That was really brave attack a Sith Lord. What about Skye? What happened after the Sith Lord left Hoth? Aw, geez, I don't even know what happened on Hoth. Tell me, please. If it's not too much trouble."
  12. Jurha watched Armeina and Var leave almost abruptly. Jurha was only half way through her meal so she continued to eat. And wondered where they had gone off to, but was beginning to feel too tired to actively persue answers. "Er, well I only got here this morning," she said awkwardly, "So I've hardly been waiting. How long have you been here?" she asked Darex. She listened to his reply. "You must be pretty advanced to be able to do what you were doing in the garden this morning. Everything I know about using the Force I've taught myself, so I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong." Jurha finished her meal and pushed her plate away. She pulled her legs up to her chest in her seat and rested her chin on her knees. She hugged her knees in a earness, child like away. "So Darex, tell me some cool Jedi-Padawan stories and adventures you've had."
  13. Jurha realized it was her turn. She relucantly began to speak about her self. "My last name is Kahn. I grew up on my dad's ship The Foresight and we traveled around the galaxy doing archeology and antique dealing on various planets. I was an appraiser of sorts. Sometimes when I touch an objects I can see the past of the object and sometimes the owner. And if it's strong enough places." Jurha took a sip of her drink. "When I was thirteen I met a Jedi who told me my gift came from the Force. I wanted to go with him to be trained, but he refused. I don't think he wanted the responability or baby sitting duty, I don't really care about it any more. Any way I began to study the history of Force users, the Jedi, and," Jurha cleared her throat and cast a glance at Var, "The Sith." "That was two years ago. A few months ago I saved up enough credits to buy transport to some place where I could buy information about the location of a group of Jedi who would be willing to train me. And I hitch hiked to Borleais on board a freighter that drops off suplies here." Jurha carefully neglected to mention her father had been dead set about her becoming a Jedi or anything else for that matter. He had no idea where in the galaxy she was right now. Jurha still regretted not having the sense to change her name. She wondered how her father was fairing with out her.
  14. ((Var you can't take so much control of someone's character, like how they react to something you say to them. And you can't make Akin follow you to your ship unless he posts the action himself. The Dojo also provides sleeping quarters, places to eat, and train so returning to your ship won't be necessary unless you prefer your ship's quarters to Jedi hospiality.)) The rock deflecting guy came over to Shanti and Jurha and introduced himself as Darex. "I'm Jurha, pleased to meet you," she said holding out her hand to shake Darex's. Jurha turned to Shanti, "I'm going to tell Master Nova about Rann," she glanced at Darex to include him, "Then maybe we all can get something to eat, I'm getting hungry." Jurha walked into the courtyard and stood infront of Armeina who was wrapped in a blanket. "Shanti, Darex, and myself are probably going to get something to eat, they're over there," Jurha said pointing to them. Jurha didn't see Var around and didn't see any point in inviting him if he wasn't here. "Master Nova, there's a man who arrived here who said he is a Jedi. He's resting now, but said he'd like to speak with you when you got the chance. He said he's looking for a Jedi named Orrick." Jurha turned to walk away.
  15. "I don't know of any Orricks, let alone a Jedi one," Jurha said to Rann, "Do you Shanti." Jurha continued, "If Shanti doesn't know we can check with Master Nova. He's pretty busy though."
  16. Jurha felt the voice in her mind. Shanti seemed to feel it as well. Jurha glanced at Nova. He seemed aware of the voice, but showed no signs of responding right away. Jurha watched as Shanti left to go greet the lost Jedi. Nothing important seemed to be happening. Several students had departed the class already despite not having permission. "I'm gonna go with Shanti," Jurha said abruptly. She jogged after the other girl. On her way to the landing pad, presumably where the Jedi was and Shanti had headed, Jurha ran into the adept who had taken her pack to her room. He explained where her room was and how to find it and other necessary facilaties. By the time Jurha reached the landing pad Shanti and the Jedi had already begun talking. She jogged up. "Hey," she said slightly out of breath.
  17. ((Sorry, DaCheat. I'm just impatient and impulsive at times. I hope everything is well.)) Jurha let her head drop. No repremand, just a thank you. She wished she could crawl under one of the rocks in the garden. She half listened to talk about lightsaber. It was nothing she didn't already know, nothing that couldn't be found in a library some where. She had spent the past two years of her young life studying anything she could about the Jedi, and the Sith. Jurha was much more interested in the newcomer Avararda. He was tainted. Tainted and guilty. She felt it radiating off him. Oh, I trust you, Var. By the way, thanks for the confession, Sith. Jurha's jaw was clenched and her eyes a steely green. Sith were notorious for their brutality and deception. She watched him introduce himself to everyone and did his best to be friendly and explain him self. Jurha knew from literature that the Jedi were forgiving, Nova had just proven that to her with the rock. But Jurha wasn't a Jedi yet. And not being cautious was a fools game. Her literature (though embelished, and made dramatic) said the dark side was like an addiction and a poison. Once it had a hold on you it would not be likely to relinquish you, nor you it. Armiena seemed to have a good head on her shoulders and she already has shown a little hostility to this Var. Jurha wasn't worried so much about her. It was Shanti. Shanti's sweet kindness was a trait Jurha liked, but she didn't want it to become her new friend's tragic flaw. I'm watching you, Sith Avararda. You will have to do much more than hand out smiles and fruit to earn any trust from Jurha Kahn.
  18. Part of Jurha wanted to scream. What did she just do? He's a Jedi Master he'll stop it. She just don't like being insulted by being ignored. Sure it was a drastic measure, but he was being kind of drastically rude. ((You know he better dodge it or block it. If he doesn't I guess I'll just edit or delete that post. I had entirely planed on a reaction of SOME KIND. Positive or negative.))
  19. Jurha felt her patience thinning. "I didn't spend half my life savings so some old guy could gawk at us all morning," Jurha growled. She crouched and found a rock that fit comfortably into in hand. Jurha stood up and began intuitively aiming for Nova's head. She closed her eyes and threw the rock aiming it with her instincts. ((You have until Monday 8:00 PM EST to respond before that rock hits you. That's more than enough time to react, DaCheat.))
  20. Jurha put a hand on Shanti's shoulder. "I'm sure it will be alright. You are a strong person." Jurha tried not to flinch. "Ugh, well..." don't lie. Just don't tell the whole truth, "Well I'm originally from Corellia, but I've spend most of my life traveling in space going to archelology digs on various planets." Jurha hoped that would be enough. "So, uh, when do you think he'll be starting these classes?"
  21. "She's certainly leading a colorful life," Jurha commented quietly to Shanti as Armiena walked away, "Part of the Rebellion and now here to become a Jedi. Too bad I can't see the future, only the past. I wonder why she's not with the Rebellion right now." Jurha watched Amriena standing tall behind the rock-blocker kid. She's really disicplined with her self. "She must trust you, Shanti, to tell you secret info like that," Jurha whispered, "That or she's just boasting. Or proud." Too much of either wasn't very good. Perhaps she's not as disicplined as I thought, telling secrets like that. Or maybe she's human, Jurha! the red haired girl thought critizing her self. Not like you'd be a cammado or anything. Jurha glanced at the little kid, Zeb. He had seemed pretty hostile to most everyone who approached him so far. Maybe she'd introduce her self after he was done rejecting any one who tried talking to him. Jurha looked back at Nova. Maybe he was testing them. Whatever, if he wanted to start the class, he'd start the class. In the mean time she wasn't going to stare at rocks to keep her self busy. "So Shanti, where are you from?"
  22. ((Sorry, Shanti.)) Jurha looked up at the girl who called her self Shanti. Shanti was smiling and she seemed sincere with her invintation. Why else would she have come over, Jurha reasoned. Jurha smiled, stood up, and walked over to the other students. "Hi, um, I'm Jurha Kahn," she looked around at the other students she was now standing near. She twisted her hands behind her back nervously. "Uh, well, I just got here less than thirty minutes ago. We're all waiting for Nova I guess, but what else is going on here?"
  23. Jurha stood up from the bench. It seemed polite, since no one else was sitting, and teachers often expected (or demanded) respect from their pupils. Slouching on her rear end while distracted in her own world wasn't very presentable. She hung near the back of the ground, hidden slightly behind taller students preparing to listen.
  24. Jurha spotted a rough stone bench near her in the courtyard. She sat down on it and analysed the others in the courtyard. She spotted a sagely looking old man standing away from the other hopefuls watching them carefully. Must be the master, Nova was it, but I better check, she thought. She closed her eyes and sensed him out like she always did when she met a person. She opened her eyes. Must be. No one has that much authority in them and isn't in charge. Or watches everyone like a hawk. Jurha considered introducing her self to him, but held back. She felt too shy and nervous about being here to waltz over to the Jedi. She'd do it later. She went back to watching the other students.
  25. The freighter, Comrade, heavily touched down on to Jedi Dojo's landing pad. On board were the supplies for the facility for the next two months. A Jedi adept stood awaiting the crew to show them to their quarters. When the ramp lowered, however, a young auburn haired girl stepped off instead. The girl glanced around and upon seeing the adept began striding over to him. "Hiya," she said slipping the pack she carried off her shoulder and letting it fall to the ground. She looked up at the adept and grinned at him. "Hello," the adept replied, he had never known any of the freighter pilots to be so direct... Or young. He looked back at the ship to see the crew emerging from the ship. "Are you one of the crew men's daughter?" he asked. The girl tilted her head to the side, "Daughter? Nyah. The Comrade was just the best way to get here. That captain is a tough nut to crack, but I managed to convince him he wanted me on board," the girl looked around. The adept felt her reaching out with the Force, probing the landing pad with her mind. She looked back at him, "This is the place where you become a Jedi, right?" "Um, yes, but most hopefuls arrive on their own ships or by shuttle," the adept told her. The girl began to look a little uncomfortable, "Well to each his own. Oh, yeah. I haven't told you who I am, yet have I?" The girl reached out, took the adept's hand, and pumped it up and down in a hand shake, "I'm Jurha Kahn and I'm here to become a Jedi." "Very nice to meet you Miss Kahn. Why don't you come with me and we can arrange for some quarters for you. Then perhaps you can meet with Master Nova then," the adept said beginning down the pathway to the temple. Jurha studied the golden statues of past Jedi that lined the path. That's pretty trusting of them, she thought, to leave gold sitting out there like that, someone could steal them. Jurha told her self to stop thinking like that. She made her own choices now. "It seems," the adept said, "Everyone is assembling in the courtyard to wait for Master Calen Nova. Perhaps it would be best if you were to go there while I take your things and place them in your room after we have it ready." "How will I know which one is my room," Jurha asked letting her pack slide off her shoulders again. "I will send word to you when the time is appropriate. Through those doors you will find the courtyard. Please wait there with the others." Jurha let the adept take her bag and watched him until he disappeared around a corner. She took a deep breath, "Well, let's go Jurha." She stepped through the doors and into the sunlit courtyard. She looked around at all the other hopefuls. Some were hurling rocks at each other... Jurha was extremely puzzled as to why they would do that... They all must be light years ahead of me in their training... Jurha sighed. She tugged at the yellow crystal from a dismantled lightsaber she had once found. What if I'm not cut out for this?
