External Kyber Energy Conduits - Cut from the same primary crystal within the lightsaber, these several dozen smaller facets embedded into the hilt of the lightsaber serve two functions. First, they act as a sort of security system. Even if someone else was able to examine the lightsaber through the Force and understand the internal controls, the living spirit of the crystal aligned with Faux's will wont allow anyone else to control the lightsaber unless it feels allowed by Faux. Meaning Faux has to expressly give another person permission before the blade acknowledges commands. Maybe subverted by someone of higher rank than her, but the lightsaber may still prove to act problematic.The second purpose for the crystals is to channel energy from Faux directly into the lightsaber through channels into the primary crystal. This could serve to recharge the power cell should it get depleted, or allow the blade to be lengthened, widened, and increased in power without overtaxing the power cell. While the blade could be adjusted in length or width normally without pushing the lightsaber beyond standard operating parameters, increasing the power of the blade too much for too long would eventually damage the internal mechanics. Dial Switches - Instead of adjusting the blade's length, width, or power output between a couple preset settings, all of these adjustments are changed on a sliding scale at the will of the user. The length can be adjusted between six inches and six feet. The width can be adjusted between half an inch and six inches. The power level can be adjusted between a training saber and four times the intensity of a standard setting. All of these switches are internal, tuned with the same Kyber crystal that sits as primary, and includes the activator switch. Modified Emitter Matrix - Because of the wide range of adjustment available to the blade through dial switches, this lightsaber requires a unique emitter. The opening has been broadened in an outward cone to allow the blade to grow wider than the matrix head. The magnetic ring has been expanded and alloted more power. The extra power allows for a longer containment field, making the longer blade possible, and ensures enough power to complete the full cycle when the blade grows wider. The emitter has also been reinforced with thicker material and heat sinks to absorb and dissapate any overflow of heat when the power of the blade is set to maximum. Since this unique emitter can produce a blade wider than itself, it cannot have a shroud to protect itself from damage, forcing the user to remain aware of how close the tip of the hilt comes to thing that could damage it. Focusing Lenses - Two lenses are installed at angles with one another to shape the width of the blade. The angle of these lenses can be adjusted to change the width of the blade between half an inch to six inches. Balanced Hilt - The hilt has been lengthened to both accomodate the modifications and internal switches, and to add weight in the right places to counteract the gyroscopic effects of the lightsaber. Since Songsteel is an especially light metal, weight was needed on either end to ensure the blade swings smoothly. Background: Lost amidst the Dune Seas of Tatooine rests a monastery for those who had given up on the outside world. These hermit monks believed the galaxy would forever be enshrouded in darkness so long as sentient kind retained is voracity for material gain at the expense of other's well being. To them, the only thing concerning sentient life should be the shedding of such desire, a simple life focused on transcending the spirit beyond the need of rebirth. Meditation and ascetic practices kept their bodies and minds healthy, and with them raised their spirits beyond worldly concerns. A simple life of farming and self cultivation was all that was required, and all they really ever wanted. As secluded as the monastery was wayward souls still managed to find their way, perpetuating this philosophy for countless generations. Some said they were called from afar, one existential crisis too many seeming to be the catalyst for a need of pilgrimage. Others fatefully stumbled upon the monastery, aimlessly wandering the desert wastes waiting to die or find the answers they so desperately needed. Regardless of past sins or present circumstances all were given sanctuary. All would be shown the way to self deliverance. As calm and composed as these monks may be, however, they didn't quite know what to do when they discovered the infant girl at the gates. Some had experience with children in lives before their vows, but this was not what the monastery was for. Should they return the child to a settlement, find a family that would raise her as their own? But to return her to the world they so disdained seemed abhorrent at the thought. How could they subject this poor soul to such a wasted fate? Every other soul that had found their way here seemed to do so for a purpose. Perhaps, she too was fated to this path? The years would prove otherwise as the little girl grew in size and imparted wisdom. While the monks had had their fill of the outside world and grew disgusted by it, she had known nothing of it and craved nothing more than to see it with her own eyes. The fact of the matter was that she had never chosen this life. It was simply all she knew. So on her eighteenth birthday, when the time had come to make her own decisions, the monks sent her on her way to see the galaxy for what it really was. Hopefully she would be alright. Hopefully she would come to the same understanding that they had and would return to them, eager to live a life of simple peace and harmony. Hopefully... (Backstory updated as story occurs.
