However, simply saying "good" doesn't mean much of anything except that you won't try and slaughter people on the street.

I think the system is very simple, yet adds a new level of complexity.

Since you seem to think it could be confusing, I'll list it:

• Lawful Good
• Neutral Good
• Chaotic Good

• Lawful Neutral
• True Neutral
• Chaotic Neutral

• Lawful Evil
• Neutral Evil
• Chaotic Evil

These alignments refer to the way a character goes about his/her ethical standard. For example, a Chaotic Good character might do something controversial in the name of a greater good (for example, crashing their ship into Imperial Center, killing many civilians but also the Emperor, in an attempt to destroy the greater evil), and a Lawful Evil character would use good to circumvent itself (for example, using the Senate to gain power for their own ends).

I just think it makes things more interesting than a flat black-and-white. :-D
