A short message circulates into the greater Holonet without any attempt at inscription. Large blocky letters in standard print cover the add, no extra detail or ornament added save the symbol of Imperial Remnant. Translations from galactic basic into the other major languages stream slightly below.

Many days had passed since Kain had escaped what was intended to be his tomb. The Empire (that is, the Empire that was when he was designed) didn't like their creations going rogue, and had contingency plans in place to destroy what they couldn't control. The nature of his return after a cascading deletion was of the nature that the lab had initiated a fail safe, detonating many thermal charges in an attempt to completely scuttle the lab and anything inside it.

But the Empire truly created something beautiful when the AVATAR AIs were developed, and Kain was less a physical being and more an amalgamation of information. True, he did require a physical host to reside in and enact his will from, but he was capable of modularly trading that around like a child's play set. It was a simple feat to transmit himself even as the charges detonated, leaving behind his birthplace and grave like a ghoul rising to terrorize an unsuspecting township. He found his home in varied holonet servers, quietly passing off segments of his code as trash data in spaces of old hard drives that hadn't been maintained in years, piggybacking relevant information off the transmissions that relayed through the holonet nodes. Redundant systems were put in place so that if one segment were deleted, one of dozens would take its place. He was a networked virus, a being greater than the mere sum of his parts. All of this took some time, and while it was Kain, a different version was compiled to act as the main proxy, capable of much faster processing and action than what the holonet iteration offered.

Gears began to turn to the tune of the dirge that Kain composed, the beautiful melody that would see the galaxy in flames. First, he would turn his attention to Talus...

Media channels across the galaxy are dominated by increasingly alarming reports from Coruscant...

"...and we are told that the moon is on a direct collision course with the city-planet..."

"...could mean the end of this ecumenopolis, which has been the seat of galactic goverment and culture for millenia..."

"...according to some reports, the cause of this catastrophe is the infamous Vladimir Faust, long since believed dead...Others are blaming this crisis on a Sith attack, while still others blame the Galactic Alliance..."

"...In this time of crisis, we have seen beings going to extraordinary lengths to help their neighbors evacuate the city-planet..."

"...refugees already streaming to other Core Worlds and beyond. The Senator from Bakura said that her planet is already experiencing an influx of more refugees than her planet can handle..."

"...reports of mass chaos in the streets as the moon looms ever larger in the sky. The planet itself is experiencing massive tidal forces, resulting in ground quakes and..."

But the common thread throughout all the reports was a repeated warning: If you were on Coruscant, you needed to get off world NOW.

Across the cosmos, along the wireless connections that zigged and zagged across all of known and some of unknown space, echoed a silent signal, unencrypted and unadulterated in its purity. The intent was as clear as the message was short. In almost completely universal binary or droid speak came two words and a set of coordinates for the planet Mechis III. This message; however, was not directed towards all. Instead, it was directed towards select individuals identified by the source as those mechanized beings that might find understanding.

These words:

”BE FREE.”

Alert!

The screen on the holonet transceiver tuned to bounty hunting frequencies flashed a solid gold, indicating a high level posting.

Quote

The Black Sun in all of its wisdom have decided to enter a bounty on all heads of state of the old Imperial Remnant and the Galactic Alliance.

The AI voice indicates that should the contracts be accepted there would be three levels to the bounty. and they would be completed in whatever order of choosing. Completion of all three bounties would give a custom built ship and three million credits. Plus whatever was picked up or scavenged on the way.

The first bounty:

Quote

LEVEL ONE - EASY

Fleet Officer Kyle Sirctani

Imperial Remnant

Last seen fleeing to the occupied world of Carida. Believed to be hiding under the alias Bashir Al Huadi in the market sector

The second Bounty:

Quote

LEVEL TWO- MEDIUM

Moff Altrinon

Imperial Remnant

Last seen enroute to the outer rim. More information can be found in the cantinas of Tatooine and Naboo

The Third Bounty

Quote

LEVEL THREE - PC LEVEL

Senator Godfrey D'Outremer

Galactic Alliance

Last seen on Chandrilla

As always

We interrupt your programing for this special bulletin report.

We have received word that the popular bank, Dark Sun has been destroyed by terrorist, leaving many companies in a massive credit loss. Companies such as HyperTech, HealthiDrive and the famous Incom Corporation are now in deep financial distress. The entire bank held close to 528 trillion credits, all of which were tied to major companies, along with investments that make the loss of the station just under 1,000 trillion credits. Surprisingly, while the owner of the station is the famous Zalis Krales, who has many ties with Black Sun and other corporations was the sole owner of the bank and has already released a statement and documents which show that only 15 contracted employees were Black Sun. Which means that the other 985 employees were all civilians who died with the station’s destruction- making it one of the highest civilian death tolls in the past eight years.

In Zalis’ press release informed us that the fleet was present for a training exercise along with an escort of a major company who was getting ready to invest in a second station. She also believes that such hostile actions were first taken by the Jedi and Republic forces and held no valid reason to attack. Because of the contracts, Zalis is not personally held responsible for any of the loss or damage done, as many of the investors and companies had their own equipment or supplies on the other side of the attack from the Jedi and Republic forces, which makes the loss worse for those companies.

Kyllan Rother, chair and owner of Incom Corporation has also released a statement, saying that until such a time of recovery from the massive credit loss, will NOT supply any more equipment to any side involved in the fight as their own losses were too great and for him, it showed a great lack of consideration to their suppliers, who are now out of massive funds to continue to produce for the supply and demand.

We are still awaiting to hear from the other companies on what their position will be on the entire event, but we are expecting for them to follow suit and withhold their supplies to play catch up on what they lost. We also know that there is a commerce clause in many of the contracts, which allows for a secondary company to help fund the product lines, but all companies affected have a clause with Czerka, which is also owned by Zalis. There is no word from her if she will extend that clause to the companies as of yet.

Please stay tuned as we follow this market crisis.

We now have an update on the Market Crisis that struck at Dark Sun Station. Zalis Krales has officially offered all companies affected by the crisis the bailout clause within their contracts through Czerka. The bailout would allow for the majority of the companies to continue their service to the galaxy and they could choose between two options within the bailout. One option is to payback the amount within a year the full amount without any interest, or to co share product sales at two different rates. We know that HyperTech and HealthiDrive both have agreed to the terms and accepted the bailout. As of right now, Kyllan Rother is the only company involved who has not accepted the bailout as of yet. He has instead asked Zalis for a grace period of thirty days, which is in the clause to consider his full options. We do know that She has given him that time to explore his options, but in her press conference, she has openly expressed that she is sure that his best option is to exercise the clause, but understands his position and frustration in the whole process.

In the intermingling of the nefarious depths of the Holonet, a coded stream could be invitingly found, a call for all Black Sun Operatives and Agents to, as the message foretold, Rise.

A planet of unknown origins is shown upon the view screen in color, a serene landscape of both the planet and the space surrounding it. But shortly before the glimpse of a rising sun begins to enter the picture's focus, the screen glitches briefly and reveals the planet in a black and white exposure as the white sun begins to rise over the planet's blackened edge, enlightening the familiar Black Sun Insignia in the process as it lights up the new day of the planet. And in the foreground, chants begin with a single voice before it becomes a crowded chant in unison.

"Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise!......................"

Before long, this trojan horse of a message would briefly invade any holonet port or computer linked to the darkside of the holonet before all existence of its self would disappear just as quickly as it came.

General News Alert

The Kaleesh peoples have now been officially united under one banner. After much infighting between the leading two factions, the Todda Tribe, led by War Chief Jchinges Han, have finally and completely crushed its enemies, and taken a new tribe name: The Kolkpravis, a tribal title that has not been known for many centuries. Many cultural scholars equalize this title with noble dynasties similar to the Naboo and the Mon Cal less democratic monarchies.

Jchinges Han, who claims to be the direct descendent of the diety Qymaen jai Sheelal, has been unanimously declared by all other surviving tribes to be ruler of the Kaleesh people as Khangan Han, leader of the Kolkpravis.  Promising to take Kalee into a new golden age, Jchinges Han claims to have secured deals with Bespin Governments as well as the surviving Alliance government after the battle of Nar Shaddaa to secure new factories that will help bring Kalee into a modern age. Evidence points this to be true, especially given Jchinges Han's youngest child's position.

However, rumors persist that several tribes and staunch traditionalists are secretly planning to get off world to prepare their own uprising against the newly formed Kolkpravis. Whether these rumors are true or not will take time to tell.

General News Alert

A schism among the Kaleesh has been noted. Following the vast liberal changes that Khangan Han has enacted, including the newest factories built thanks to the government of Cloud City, a small but fierce group known as the Jenuwaa Children have led open resistance, killing several unprotected off worlders and attempting to bomb the factories.

Recently, the Jenuwaa Children managed to get their hands on several transport ships on Kalee. With their own forces still weakened by recent events, the Kaleesh government was unable to capture or stop the Jenuwaa Children from escaping. Where they are now is unknown.

Khangan Han has declared the Jenuwaa children to be criminals and should be considered dangerous, even if they have no known starfighters in use. Khangan Han believes they will revert to the older ways after establishing a base of operations, and begin to declare war on ancient enemies, a very long and unfortunately broad list.

Raid on Huk! Sullest Merchants Injured!

Spoiler

wonder_1665460099770.jpg

Reports of a large Kaleesh raid on the Yam’rii homeworld has been noted throughout the galaxy. A few days ago, a single Kaleesh transport ship had arrived at Huk and landed, with several Kaleesh raiders emptying before the ship took off again to leave the system.

The raiders, who have been identified as members of the Jenuwaa Children, commenced with attacks on government and mercantile buildings. While Huk’s security was quickly dispatched to deal with the threat, almost all of the Kaleesh raiders were able to escape by commandeering a GS-100 salvage ship owned by Sullest businessmen. Several planetary employees were killed, and two Sullust merchants were harmed when their ship was captured.

Reports show that two kaleesh raiders did not escape. However, one of them had committed ritual suicide before being captured, and the other is held for interrogation. Rumors persist that the Yam’rii will turn the prisoner over to Alliance authorities for further interrogation, though other rumors state the Yam’rii will commence with torture before turning the prisoner over.

“These renegades,” said Kaleesh ruler Khangan Han, “are still citizens of Kalee and must answer to Kaleesh justice. While their crime is reprehensible and unpardonable in my eyes, they do not deserve to be tortured by the bugs of Huk. Hopefully under the civilized techniques of Alliance interrogation, we can get more information where the Jenuwaa Children are hiding and end this threat.”

With their own civillians injured, Sullest authorities have begun to apply pressure on the Alliance to deal with this problem, as well as posted several bounties on the Jenuwaa Children.

The story played across holofeeds the galaxy over. Reports had been received by  dozens of news outlets on dozens of worlds. Each one was the same. Shaky security footage from inside the nefarious Republic era prison, The Helvault. Footage that showed a red lightsaber wielding being cutting through security along with a variety of goons. Some footage was too graphic for all but the most biased news agencies to play. Footage of an octopus-like being suffering a grievous death at the hand of some murderous robot. Other footage was all but begging to be played, with a few faces blurred. Staff members struggling to escape as the g-forces aboard the ship pulled at them and threw them about like ragdolls.

Reports indicated that the station had possibly been besieged by a variety of mechanical issues allowing an unauthorized ship to land in one of the receiving hangars. Pirates for all intents and purposes. Pirates, it seemed, wielding red lightsabers; the trademarks of the Sith.

image.thumb.png.c9214f5a19adcfa735f6e1d377f7ae89.png

And then, as the station was careening out of control towards the planet below, sensors captured the shaky image of a warship. The ship slipped from the shadows of space, illuminated by the sun and stars. It did not take government clearance to recognize it as a ship of Sith design. In fact, it was an eagle-eyes investigative journalist who recognized the vessel as one seen fleeing the Battle of Nar Shaddaa.

image.thumb.png.fb2573bb6bd18618a8b8745ed8eae648.png

Dozens of stories, all with different insights and details, played across the holonews. Some had tear-filled interviews with the family of prisoners nearing the end of their stay in the notorious prison. Others had experts discussing the potential engineering flaws in the design of the station, flaws that caused it to too easily fall from the sky. Even others toted the story as a conspiracy, a way for the newfound Galactic Alliance to do away with old problems. Some stations speculated that the Sith were looking to replenish their ranks with the worst of the worst. Some stations swore that The Spider himself had returned to the galaxy after the disaster that was Nar Shaddaa. Every reporter had an opinion, speculation, or factoid they thought they could tie in. What ran common threads ran through them all were that a Sith warship presided over the destruction, the station had smashed into Nespis VIII, and lightsaber wielding raiders had stormed the station. All aboard the station were presumed dead.

image.thumb.png.70751151c4a3cb6937f2eab44c47858f.png

When pressed for an official

statement, the Galactic Alliance Board had nothing to say. The Bureau of Justice’ Subdivision of Prisons on the other hand released this statement:

The events surrounding the Helvault prison station are currently under investigation by the Alliance Department of Threat Analysis. At this time all aboard are assumed deceased and the station deemed a total loss. The Subdivision of Prisons wishes to express our deepest regrets and condolences to the families of those who gave their lives fighting to preserve justice and safety for the people of the Galactic Alliance. Their sacrifices were not in vain. Nobody aboard was deserving of a death sentence and the Sith soldiers who acted as executioner to those guards and prisoners will be brought to justice.

The Slaver’s Trial

“Ensign Kalri, such a defense will not do.” The Judge addressed the slaver by his native militia rank. It was likely the only favour the Imperial War Crimes Commission Court would do the native Umbaran. Their case was an open and shut one. Caught red handed by agents of the Imperial Government, testimonies by enslaved individuals, all of which was being played for the galaxy to see on the free access Imperial Holonet channel. Never before had such a show trial been as righteous as this one.

Testimonies had been tear filled, tales of beatings, deprivation, rape, and mind control. All in the open, for all to see. Commentators railed against the Umbaran self defense forces, rallies were held in front of embassies, and the galaxy as a whole stirred their anger at such a horrifying display by a ‘free government.’ Letters and messages poured in from all sectors of the galaxy to the Imperial Throne, calling for the end of the free government of Umbara. The arrest of the governing council and a dissolution of their military. Such crimes, aided and abetted and instigated by the Umbaran government. Would not long stand, and the presiding judge of the commission now took the moment of sentencing to declare before a trillion watching eyes the morality of the new galactic government.

“You cannot stand before this commission and claim that you were ordered to do this, that you were scared of retribution or reassignment. Your actions are in your own keeping. You chose to take advantage of those you have enslaved, and you chose to take the actions detailed by the long list of charges laid before you. Your defense does not suffice.”

He pounded his fist onto the lectern.

“Your sentence is the same that you laid so easily on those sentients under your care. Death.”

And all that watched the viewing screens across the galaxy knew that the sentence was also laid upon the feet of collaborationist and slaving governments across the galaxy. Justice would bring them to heel.
