Locke threw the tree over his head, letting his arms fall down to his sides, his pain considerable. He looked at Xyn Que quite grudgingly, deciding now would be a good time to vent his frustration.

"Oh, not another damn blue skinned aura ghost. You guys speak in less coherent riddles than the people who're alive do--or worse, you just come back from the dead to 'hang out.' 'Hey, how's it goin? Still alive? How's that workin' out for ya? Yeah, I'm still awfully dead...' Geez... And what did you want the damn log for, anyway?"

The look of utter defeat on Locke's face was shadowed only by the horrible confusion that it had to compete with. He attempted to speak, making a number of false starts before finally settling on, simply, "Ya gotta be kiddin' me."

Bekka started to feel a bit better and looked over at Zara... "Thanks..." she said as the other woman left...

It had been some time sing she had conceived the child, and she was already starting to show... probably more cause she had already had other children... but she really needed to get something more confortable to wear...

"Hey, I will need to go to my ship and grab some other clothes... unless you have something I could borrow... "

"Glad you're feeling better. Actually, one of the bags I brought in had some of my maternity clothes. I was going to give them to the clan but you're welcome to them if you like."

Zara indicated they begin to walk, keeping it a steady pace rather than striding out. She wasn't sure if Bekka's body would be recovered from the wretching even if she said she didn't feel much in the way of pain. Her stomach muscles would still have been upset during that episode.

"So have you thought of any names for your child? Ronin thought we were only having a boy, I wanted a girl so we each picked a name... then it turned out I had one of each. Ronin was away for most of my pregnancy and didn't realise I was having twins. Even when I told him we'd be using both names."

She smiled in fond rememberance of the discussion they'd had regarding the names. That she loved him was obvious. She hoped desperately that he would forgive her for what happened.

Locke stared at Valeran with disbelief. He wasn't used to force users having a personality. The disoriented Jedi didn't know what to do except try to figure out what the point of all this was.

"Do I uhh... Owe you money or something?"

Bekka looked over what the woman was wearing... "They don't look like the close you're wearing now do they... and no, I have not thought about names... why would I do that? I mean... um... you know what I mean... "

She knew she was not going to keep the child... she couldn't... she didn't know what to do with it...

Zara laughed at Bekka's comments regarding her outfit.

"No... not at all. They were the latest fashions within the galaxy. Probably wouldn't get much use out here for them really... possibly too dressy for this backwater planet."

She knew what they said regarding her home planet. The cries of hungry children sounded in her mind, Zara looking back towards the villiage.

"My twins are hungry again. I really need more lessons in the Force. I just don't think they should come from Sabian anymore... not with what happened..."

The two started back, the tugging at Zara's mind increasing as her twins demanded her attention. It was like she had an overwhelming urge to hurry.

"That clinches it... I need training to be able to control my children."

She shook her head, Rascal giving the feline equivalent to laughter. She refocused her thoughts back to their previous conversation.

"If you're not keeping your child, who is going to look after it?"

Oh, you make it sound like I have a burning desire to see retribution for the entire Jedi order due to their hand in the genocide of my father's entire race and my mother's exile.

That's just crazy talk.

Zara nodded to her before entering her Aunt's home to see to her hungry children. Rascal stayed outside with Bekka, laying down beside where she sat. Inside, she picked up Kane, rocking him gently before moving to sit in the easy chair. Her Aunt had Kalyani and was changing her while Zara settled in to feed her son. He fussed alittle but soon settled down to business. Once he'd had his fill, Zara's Aunt took him from her to burp and change him while she fed her daughter. She sat back again after picking up Kallie and began feeding her as well. She could feel her infant mind, how hungry she was, how safe she was with her mother. Zara could feel her children... she would have to find someone else to teach her how to use the force... if only to keep her twins in line...

Bekka sat with her back against the wall and leaned her head back... closing her eyes, she again saw Coruscant... she got a flash of John fighting two Jedi... and then it was gone... opening her eyes, she put her hand on her stomach rubbed it...

How strange it is to feel this child. am I seeing what the child sees due to a connection to him from the force? She didn't know, but if the child had a connection to its father, then it would stand to reason that John had the same connection to the baby... She got a worried look on her face for a second till she realized that even if John was connected with the baby, there was nothing to see other then the inside of the womb...

Bekka took some deep breaths and relaxed... she knew what she was going to have to do, but she had time... at least a few months. She had to get a hold of him... he could take the child to Skywalker and everything would be fine... he had found her other child once before... this job should be simple compared to that one... Their in the same order, so it is not like he would have to look hard for him... just deliever the child to him...

Suddenly Bekka's insides churned and she could feel the child grow... and before she knew it, she was violent ill again... as it finally passed, she could feel the baby's discomfort...

She looked over to Zara... "I don't think it is morning sickness, I think it is something to do with it's father... I get sick when I see him... I keep having flashes of him fighting, it is right after that that I get ill... Is it possible that it has something to do with a force connection?"

Bekka was going to have to do some research on the Force and find out what it is capable of...

"I... haven't the foggiest idea. It might be possible??"

Zara had no clue if it could be that or not. She hadn't been taught much about it herself. The only experience she had with it was through what Sabian had shown her... and everytime she thought of him she got embarrassed and felt ashamed of what had gone on. She assumed she would get over that feeling in time, but still. And without him to teach her she didn't know who else would. If she could only put it all behind her... she knew though that if she did see him again, it would be very awkward, and she would still not want to upset Ronin anymore than he would be if he found out what had happened.

"While I have met a couple of force users, there was only one that had told me about the force..."

It was obvious just who that one person was...

"Oh. Alright then. So long as you're not bitter."

Locke scratched his brow, still not entirely sure to think, then dragged himself into the small dwelling that Valeran had appointed him too. He thought it strange that for whatever reason Valeran would have a dwelling here, being as it was in the middle of a damn jungle, but he simply wrote it off to the long list of things that were mildly disturbing about him.

Sitting down on a rickety old chair, probably made from whatever forest debris that could be found on the forest floor, Locke slowly leaned over and untied his boots. His body was sore all over from the tree that he had to senselessly drag across the forest. Lifting up his pant leg, he noticed his flesh had adopted a purple tint, making it painfully clear why it had been bothering so much.

From his chair Locke used the force to rifle through all the drawers and cabinets for a suitable medical tape. A white wheel emerged and whizzed through the air, meeting Locke's hand and immediately going to help him fix his injury. The Jedi knight looked around quickly, trying to find a suitable splint, eventually giving up and judo chopping the arm rest off his chair. He assembled his mediocre bandaging with a certain expertise, clearly having to have fixed his own injuries many times before.

He saw a large piece of salted meat in one of the cabinets he had opened, and drawing his whip he decided he'd try getting it the easy way. He reasoning was that if he screwed up and cleaved a hole in Valeran's house, Valeran would still have plenty of wood to fix it, making it a fair trade. Two lashes, lightning fast, a thunderous crack and a flood of blue light the only discernable features of it. The whip hit the ground, deactivated, and in the middle of the large piece of meat were two parallel lines of sizzling flesh.

Locke's thin fingers gripped the lightly browned steak that he had cut and cooked in two quick strokes. He devoured it like an animal, using no utensils and ignoring the bloody red spot in the center, then headed off to the small cot that he assumed was reserved for him. Wiping his hand on his already muddy shirt, the Jedi knight settled in for sleep...

Zara had been thinking alot about what had been going on in her life. She'd been busy looking after the twins, amazed at how fast they had been growing. She wondered how Ronin was. She hadn't heard from anyone, not even her brother. She decided she'd send a comm to Brina and find out what had been happening with the Casino. She knew she would have to return there soon, though was hesitant to do so. Luckily the... encounter had happened in one of the guest rooms and not her own penthouse.

She sent the comm off and then went to check on Bekka again.

After checking his ship and apparatus for beacons, bugs, and planets, as well as taking a few random jumps through hyperspace, Kheldar arrives over Dathomir. When acting as a go between for two parties determined to destroy the other in a life or death war, a bit of caution never hurt. Relying on Ame's tip that Zara returned to her home planet, as well as his usual commercial contacts and sources, getting to Dathomir wasn't too hard.

Of course, it wouldn't be too hard to find her once he landed, given a certain amount of prestige among the natives owed to one of his earliest jobs here as a galactic trader right after he left to go independent.

"Yup," Kheldar states as the auto-pilot takes over, guiding the Silk Road in for an easy landing. "Good times. Nearly ended up offending a coven of Night Sisters on my first visit, but well..." he adds with an ironic laugh. "Between some negotiations with some of the other clans and my natural wit, I managed to get myself out of trouble... Made myself quite indespensible to one of those clans too, which I believe will make for a good base of operations while trying to find Zara."

The Silk Road touches down and Kheldar, with Cyrion following behind, exits the vessel, where he is greeted by the natives.

*****

Several hours later, Kheldar is fleeing through the thick swamps, his pearl doublet a bit stained and his usually fine, sleek backed hair is hanging down the sides of his face. There's one of the quantum knives that Norithan gave him clenched in his mouth, occasionally used to slash down vines or roots in his way. Cyrion is following shortly behind, making good use of the combat modifications Kheldar gave to the C-3 model. The wily merchant keeps moving, stopping occasionally to glace behind him or listen for sounds of pursuit.

"This is such a mess," Cyrion complains, shaking some gunk off his chest plate. "and all your fault I might add."

Kheldar just grunts in annoyance, cutting down a branch in irritation. "It's been nearly 10 years Cyrion," he shoots back. "How was I supposed to know she'd remember that promise? Lord knows I can't keep it or Ame'd kill me."

Cyrion continues in his flat voice. "They did remember you though. 'Kheldar of the Silver Tongue'. With a reputation like that how did you think that you would have been forgotten?"

Kheldar shrugs, scurrying up a tree trunk and taking to swinging hand over hand through the rough swamp. "I figured she'd be over it. At least she doesn't want to kill me."

"I'd be kinder that what Kas would do that the clan leader catches you and forces you to make good on that vow..." the droid observes lightly. "The ship is okay, right?"

"Yeah," Kheldar notes, hoping cat like onto a branch and scouting around. "I remoted it over to a grove they'll never find. The ysalmari covering will stop their divinations from locating it, so yes, we have a ride out of here." He looks back. "I don't think we've left too easy a trail for them. At least we were able to more or less figure out where Zara's clan was, so it was worth the trouble... right?"

Cyrion choses to reply in Huttsees, finding it an excellent language to curse in at this moment.

The duo continue on their way. "Glad I didn't have to hurt any of them making my escape," Khledar continues. "Close call though never-the-less... I think we were lucky there or it could have turned ugly..."

Cyrion tries his best not to laugh. "Just one question, sir, and this won't go any further... How indespensible did you make yourself to that clan and its chieftess?"

A dark, warning look is all the answer Kheldar gives to that one.

More hours pass without conversation as the sun rises high into the sky and then slowly starts to sink.

"Any idea what the deal was with that Jedi and Falleen we saw about five hours ago?" Cyrion asks, looking for something to break the tedium.

"I know that was Locke," Kheldar answers, pulling out his dossier in his organizer on the various force using factions at large in the galaxy. "As for the other, he used to teach at Midsengard back when Varesyne ran it. I don't have too much info on him though. Rule of thumb Cyrion, when there's suspcious characters abroad in the middle of nowhere- don't ask questions."

"I know that, but-"

"Don't ask. You won't like the answers."

More time passes, giving Kheldar a fairly cold sleepless night. For a moment, Kheldar fears he's been discovered by a hunting party from the clan he fled from, but hiding in a tree and employing a few mentallic meditation techniques he'd picked up in his travels across the galaxy gave him some protection by dulling his mind, but the concentration required, particularly with Kheldar's lack of any natural force aptitude or talent, left him even wearier when the sun finally rose, enabling him to continue his journey safetly.

The next day at about three in the afternoon, tired, his clothes permanently stained, and hungry from having to flee without taking provisions, Kheldar shambles into what would be called civilization. He sees a few somewhat familiar looking face, knowing it a relative of Zara's. Cyrion shambles behind, looking slightly better being infatiguable.

"Hello," he states wearily, wondering if news of his past escapades from nearly 10 years ago reached this particular clan. "My name is Kheldar vos Correlli... I'm here to see Zara Nargal...."

Zara wandered out of the hut, nursing a child in each arm as she headed into the sunshine. She emerged just in time to hear her name spoken by a male voice.

"Kheldar? What are you doing here? You look like you could do with a meal and a shower."

She took in the tree folage hooked up on Cyrion as well. She straightened her posture, jiggling the twins as she approached him. She had to bark an order to one of the other clan members to leave him alone, he was spoken for. She had fast taken her place in the clan since she had gotten there. Coming close enough to Kheldar to whisper she told him to follow her lead. Zara's eyes were dancing as she met his. She handed him Kane so that she could get a better hold of her daughter, Kalyani.

"Come with me."

She proceded to lead him into her aunt's hut where he could get cleaned up. She also ordered one of the male slaves to bring a meal for them both.

Bekka stood up and pulled her hair off her face and turned around to see who was asking for Zara... she just shook her head... "this is just not my day... " she said to herself... outloud her words were a bit different... "HOLY CRAP... "

Kheldar accepts wearily, holding on tightly to Kane. "Thanks... I ran into trouble with a clan a day and a half or so back east... Their leader had spoken for me about 10 years ago and apparently hadn't forgotten about it... and..." Kheldar's eyes widen in surprise and only great training keeps him from dropping the baby. "YOU!" By this time, Kheldar's custom blaster has entered his hands and is leveled at Bekka, though it's darting uncertainly back and forth beteen her and Zara. Cyrion steps to the side, curious at this turn of events and making his own subtle moves to prevent interference. The modified protocol droid was more than capable of dealing with any combat situations as needed, though at the moment, violence was the last thing he or Kheldar wanted to see.

"Alright..." he growls, not needing this shock. Being already paranoid after being chased for a day and a half, this did little to ease his high strung nerves, perhaps causing him to overreact. "I know very damn well that Ms. Bekka here was one of the thieves in on the casino even if there wasn't much emphasis on the bounty placed on her... Would you mind telling me why I'm forking out nearly 1,000,000,000 in insurance costs if you have one of the thieves here, Zara?"

Bekka moved her own hand to her waist in case she needed it... and silently she hoped that his baby would not decide to call on its daddy to get her sick again...

"Now Kheldar... you want to put that down... you got a kid in your arms... you don't want to scare it... err... " she looked from the one in zara's arms to the one in kvc's... "him.. you don't want to scare him... "

OH, this is just wonderful...

Once they were behind closed doors, Zara put Kalyani back in her playpen, watching carefully as Kheldar clutched onto Kane with one hand, his blaster with the other. With her hands on her hips she had a 'don't mess with me' look about her, as she looked from one to the other..

"Sit down, shut up and calm down. And while you're at it, put that blaster away and don't harm my son."

She had the look of one of her clan sisters now, of a warrior witch. Her grey eyes taking in every detail of how the two reacted to each other.

"I have been trying to get Bekka to come onto the Link's side. I need those other members of that team tracked down. I also want to retrieve the contents of the vault - what remains of it anyway. We - " she pointed to Bekka, " - have been trying to come to some sort of arrangement."

Even in the time that had passed since the Casino was robbed, Zara still had the scar from the welt across her face. It seemed that she'd had a reaction to whatever poison it was that Ganelon's race produced.

Slowly, Kheldar resholsters his blaster. "... Sorry... It's been a stressful couple days..." Warily, he takes a seat and hands Kane over to Cyrion. "You have no idea..."

He looks around the room, "Quant," he notes, not hiding his obvious distaste for the institutionalized slavery- more out of sympathy for Ame's background than any perceived personal threat. "I'd have figured you'd be a bit more... progressive here, despite the cultural perogatives that have been in place," he states blandly. That being said, he doesn't hesitate to dig in and start eating. When he speaks, it's between mouthfuls of food.

"I've been meaning to get ahold of you after the robbery... I ended up having to make a few business arrangements with Black Sun to get some more details... As near as I can tell they only backed the thieves financially and were for the most part hands off in case it blew up in their faces... giving me more reason to see the thieves hunted down than see any legal recourse against them... which I think would be futile... that being... said... Ganelon is a dead man if I ever get ahold of him..." he growls, finishing the plate and letting out a loud, healthy belch. "What I'm curious is with that system designed, is how the hell the thieves were able to break it! Someone had to have been either piss-a** drunk or on death sticks to allow them anywhere near the vault..."

Zara breathed a relieved sigh as he put his blaster away. She took Kane and placed him back in the playpen with his sister and turned back to Kheldar, sitting at the table and picking at the meal placed in front of her. Another was placed for Bekka.

"I can't help but think they had more behind it than they've let on. They were after me and my children before the heist, before they were even born, and they were all out for extorting from us before it too. What's to stop them getting at us any way they can now?"

She took another mouthful, chewing carefully before swallowing,

"Ganelon is a dead man for sure. He'll pay for this" she pointed to the scar from the welt, "I would like to know how they got through all the security systems as well with all of their weapons. Our guards were alert. They all got scanned on the way in - from the guards as well as the new scanners. Unless you put in faulty scanners Kheldar..."

She turned to look at Bekka, wanting to know as well just how they got to the vault.

Though exhausted and pale from his travels, color returns to Kheldar's face- unfortunately showing a rise in temper. "The scanners were perfectly fine," he declares flatly. "Regular bioscans and top of the line one's too. They can be by-passed if someone is prepared for them, but isn't that why you have guards to do searches for when people are suspect? Machinery, even as brilliantly designed as mine can only do so much you know. I've heard tell from police and insurance reports that a certain Seneferian monkey lizard openly wore a blaster on his belt and no one stopped to relieve him of it? If it wasn't for neglegence, those scans would have done their job perfectly." His pride wounded at Zara's accusation, his eyes glint. "If it was that, then I don't see why I'd be obliged to pay up on the insurance since I've taken a loss in dividends already from this debacle."
