The only reason Kiv survived is he got buried under a bunch of trash. Afterwards, he found himself staying by sand crawler, mourning the dead, salvaging what he could carry and preparing to find another clan. It was then Kiv had an idea. If this entire thing happened because one person didn't get their data, how much would people pay for other pieces of data? Like a Jawa always would say, "Don't look for uses of a salvaged item, but imagine someone who might find a use for it". Could not the same be said about information? At first, it was a struggle. Kiv had to learn how to aquire and properly store data, and the challenge of actually finding data on Tatooine was a struggle. There's only so much worth about recordings about moisture farmer habits and how a droid may function. Eventually, Kiv gave into his more base desires, and began to steal it instead. Travelers would find their pads stolen, their droids hacked, and their secrets sold to random criminals. Eventually Kiv realized that there were bigger sources of data in the galaxy off world. Massive corporations had to have secrets anyone would want. War is good for business if you have the right data, correct? So Kiv snuck onto the first ship he could, carrying only his gear, his trusty lookout Eyes, and a plan to get rich enough for a lifetime.
