The purpose of this thread is to give faction leaders space to record important information about their faction. Other groups may also request a listing to better preserve important information. In the future there will likely be a codified list of required information similar to a character sheet, but for the time being will be free of required format.

Welcome to the Sith Empire.

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION.

------------------

 

For the last decade within the dominion of uncharted space, Lord Exodus traversed and tantalized those that wandered those same wild realms, to a cause unknown by the sickly brotherhood. The culmination of his conquest led him to his habitation on the dark world of Umbara, wherewith the eccentric nature of the native people, he would spend years forging and fostering the capital into an extraordinary civilization that revered the dark arts he commanded as well as the unique acumen of his mind and spirit. He would subjugate the powerfully advanced society of Umbara and lay himself to rest beneath the earth until the stars aligned for his return. Upon his reawakening, the Spider would piously defy the ruination of the Sith Brotherhood at the hands of their former allies, as well as their mortal enemies, and stave off the blasphemous alliance the two had created. Heedlessly acting, Lord Exodus would raise an Empire of his own and blanket the stars with one of the darkest presences the galaxy would ever taste.  Rising above the Imperial Remnant, and ravaging the supreme reign of the Galactic Alliance, the Sith Empire would shake the cosmos to the core and claim rule. Growing indiscriminately, and with the iron resilience of the Sith Empire at shore, the face of Imperial Rule would soon return. 

 

 

 

THE SITH.

The Dark Side of the Force is driven by unbridled passion and emotion, expounding itself when the wielder of it pushes to reach self-interested aspirations. More often than not, it comes from a yearning to do what one believes is morally good, to save someone’s life, or to destroy a source of what the individual may believe is evil. But when you lose yourself to those emotions and desires, whether willing or unwilling, that is the road most traveled for those that dwell within the dark. Channeling the omniscience of the Dark Side however, obediently or masterfully, does not qualify one as representation of the Sith Empire. Abstaining from the ways of old, when senseless in-fighting and aimless savagery welcomed the complete degradation of the Sith Brotherhood and the Sith Order, is how the wisest found compromise. The ailing brotherhood of the Sith carved out a niche within the body of the Empire as the spiritual fist, with their dwindling numbers finding renewed purpose under Lord Exodus. The brotherhood became a tributary to the entirety of the Sith Empire, and was re-engineered to uphold the core tenets of the Sith Philosophy, all while serving a new decree, that the Sith would co-actively labor towards a unified goal. Therefore, the blind and ignorant consumption of the Dark Side, transformed into a more dutiful transaction filled with purpose. The Sith would adhere to their own code zealously, and infectiously spread the word to imperial societies to achieve the adopted objective of galactic rule.

The Sith code is centered around personal improvement and achievement, which consequently, loaned itself to the comprehensive growth and expansion of the Sith Empire . It was about first looking inward, taking your wants and desires, and flourishing with favorable outcomes which would bleed into the success of the Empire. It was taking the emotions, thoughts, and conflicts, and channeling them towards those goals and desires. This philosophy and ideology, was never touted as inherently evil, unless taken to its most extreme, and inevitable conclusion. That conclusion being that once you have achieved your goal, and possess all that you desire, ungoverned greed would come and take the place. Should you descend deeper within that rabbit-hole, the ordinance of the Sith-Imperial Empire would be swift and exacting. These are the realities of those that enter the Sith Empire. Transcending the weakened flesh of your bodies, and becoming invariably more powerful, always breaking the chains that keep you from achieving your goals, and gaining victory even through failure.

A Tradition of Honor and Peace

 

The Jedi Order has stood for thousands upon thousands of years as the pillar of justice, peace, and freedom through all manner of trials and struggles. Relying on their connection to the Light Side of the Force, Jedi Knights have long spread throughout the Galaxy helping the weak and ill, protecting the innocent, and punishing evil. Though it is not the only organization that embraces the Light Side, the Jedi Order is by far the largest and most well known due to the heroic bravery and sacrifices of its members.

 

The Jedi bind themselves to the philosophy of the Jedi Code, always struggling to maintain the balance of empathy and a sense of justice with the serenity and control of the darker instincts that plague all sentient creatures. Stray too far to one side and risk losing touch with those around them, but wander to the other side and forever will the Dark Side dominate your destiny. The Jedi Order is a religious philosophical organization that emphasizes selflessness, sacrifice, and duty to others over self elevation, the accumulation of power, and envy of others. Those who are a part of the Jedi Order are expected to serve and put themselves in the way of evil so that the innocent of the Galaxy might live free and at peace rather than as constant victims of violence and enslavement.

 

The Jedi Order has traditionally aligned itself with the democratic governments of the Republic, Rebel Alliance, New Republic, and the Galactic Alliance. They have long opposed the Dark Side and its largest adherents: the Sith Order. Through the millennia, the Jedi and Sith have fought war after war with the Jedi often being the only thing standing between the Galaxy's eternal fall into the darkness of evil.

 

An Order on the Brink

 

The Light Side is a path fraught with danger and difficulty. The Jedi Order is currently struggling against the overwhelming might of the Sith Order and the Sith Empire it rules. After the decades long Galactic Civil War that pitted the New Republic against the Galactic Empire and left generations of Jedi Knights scarred from war and suffering, the Jedi had hopes of returning to more peaceful traditions as the Galactic Alliance became the dominant galactic government.

 

This peace was short lived as the Sith Order under Dark Lord Exodus rapidly consolidated power, built a monstrous war machine, and declared a new Sith Empire. Also sensing weakness in the Galaxy, Mandalorian Crusaders rose up and began carving a bloody war path among the stars. Despite the Jedi's reluctance to get involved in a war, they were eventually forced to join the crumbling Galactic Alliance in a hasty defense of the Galaxy. In the space of a few devastating months, the Jedi and their allies faced defeat upon defeat in the face of both Sith and Mandalorian assaults.

 

The Jedi Order recoiled from its losses and was forced to spend nearly two years rebuilding itself and trying to prepare for the new threats that it now faces. The Grandmaster, Adenna Alluyen, though young, is determined to fight the Sith threat using everything available. Though recognizing the scars and sacrifices it will inflict upon the Jedi, she has set the Jedi Order on the path of war as it has been several times in the Order's long history. As long as she leads it, the Jedi Order will stand firm against the evil that is the Sith Empire.

 

Making a Stand

 

The Jedi have long embraced a wide variety of callings and methods of service. Though all Jedi carry lightsabers, not all Jedi must be warriors. Education, medicine, research, and diplomacy are among the specializations that a Jedi can focus on. However, in light of the current war and desperate situation the Jedi Order finds itself in, it is strongly encouraged of all Jedi to contribute their skills to the war effort, even if it is not by fighting on the front lines. Gone are the days where the Jedi could afford to hide in isolation, meditating themselves to wrinkles and grey hair. All hands are needed to fight the evil that is the Sith and the Jedi are key to the survival of freedom in the Galaxy.

 

Currently, the Jedi Order works closely with the Rebel Alliance which is viewed as the best hope for freedom and democracy. Though they operate with nominal independence, they constantly share intelligence data, resources, and personnel with the Rebels. Throughout the War, the Jedi will take part in missions ranging from rescues to outright combat, both offensively and defensively. There will be opportunities for both PvP and PvE combat as well as diplomatic or medical missions benefiting the war effort.

 

Opportunities to Serve

 

Despite the war footing, there are opportunities for characters with a wide variety of skills to join the Jedi Order. Though a basic level of combat and defensive skills will be a requirement to advance, a character does not need to focus on combat to still serve. There is a constant need for medics to tend to the wounded left in the wake of the war. Diplomats are always valuable ambassadors to other planets and organizations that could be persuaded to support the Jedi and the Rebels. There are always new aspirants wanting to join the Jedi Order but need help training and learning, so experienced educators are at a premium. Researching offers opportunities to both look into the past to find new resources or abandoned relics of the Jedi or to look into the future potential of new technologies or ways of utilizing the Force. Even those unable to touch the Force are welcome to serve the Order as soldiers, technicians, naval officers, or any host of other crucial roles that allow the Order to function.

 

There are always places for both Jedi skilled at commanding mighty fleets or vast armies of volunteers who wish to actively stand in the face of Sith aggression and evil. The Jedi serve along side their Rebel allies in combat of all scales and purposes to retake the Galaxy and let it flourish in freedom and the Light.

Black Sun

 

A vast Crime Syndicate rooted in almost every corner of the galaxy. Once you get involved in Black Sun, you don’t get out. At one point known for its war efforts and bounties, now known for its systematic underworld, Black Sun offers many roads to success and fortune. Whether through smuggling, slave trading, black markets goods and other avenues more legit, the new regime of Black Sun is focused on keeping credits flowing. 

 

History 

After the utter defeat at Dark Sun, Zalis and R3-M0 turned their attention toward their shared past with that of the Black Sun. For too long had it attempted to remain a militia capable of taking on the likes of the controlling governing bodies. This had not bolded well for their profits nor for their consumers. So instead, they chose to let it die and find its rebirth in the shadows. Disappearing from the Galactic front, Zalis and R3-M0 began to reestablish old contacts and allies. Through them, the networks began to slowly and silently realign. Smuggling, Slavery, Piracy, these were their greatest strengths and as such, would be their main focus.

 

But this wouldn't be their final act. Once the Operations were up and running amidst the Galactic Backdrop, they would turn their eyes to further the conflict between the Sith Empire and forming Rebel Alliance, playing one side against the other, ensuring the cash and supplies would keep flowing and their influence growing. They knew that as long as the conflict remained, they could capitalize on the need for supplies. And rather than portraying themselves as a military might, it would better serve them to simply remain profiteers. And this would open more doors for them in the future.

 

Hunters could be hired out for bounties or contract assassinations. Smugglers could be hired out for their ships or for acts of piracy. And with the Rebels and Sith Empires at each other's throats, crime could grow rampant and profitable. This would be the rebirth of the Black Sun, rising from the ashes like a phoenix from what once claimed it.

Smuggler's Den (Hutt's Palace - Tatooine)* - Originally the Hutt Palace on Tatooine, R3-M0 has acquired it for the more back door dealings and official HQ of the Black Sun.


Vigo Headquarters* - Planets or Stations within the Vigo's assigned regions that become their havens, similar to the Smuggler's Den.


Scipio (Other Worlds) - The Capital World of the InterGalatic Banking Clan, Zalis and R3-M0 were able to obtain a laundering Operation within the IGBC.

 

Mines of Kessel (Spice Mines of Kessel) - The Infamous Mines of Kessel that sparked the initiative behind the Kessel Run, the Black Sun has its fingers in both the mining of spice and coaxium via smuggling operations and laboring the mines via slavery.


Mechis III Outpost (Mechis III) - The automated world of Mechis III, R3-M0 managed to obtain a small outpost operation dealing with the automated manufacturing and smuggling of weapons as well as the necessary droids needed for the Defense and Operations of the Black Sun Infantry.

Ranks and Classes

Operative - These are the NPCs of the Black Sun. They can be found nearly on every world, unrecognizable from your average citizens, outside their underworld dealings, and laying in wait for their activation. When you join the Black Sun, your automatically upgraded to Agent status, your background updated as a past Operative.

 

Agent -  This is the ground floor in within the Black Sun. Whether you choose to be a Smuggler of Spice and everything not nice, or a Hunter of bounties and assassinations, or a free-for-all Pirate of the Skies, is completely up to you. But this is where you start your journey, whether working under a Lieutenant or Overseeing another Operative in need of guidance. Will become an official Lieutenant after 3 months RT. 

 

Lieutenant - Now that you've learnt the ropes of being an Agent of the Black Sun, you are at the top of your game. You now only answer to Vigos and the top brass. Other than that, your free to corner your own little slice of the market and profit.

 

Vigo - Only way to become a Vigo is to be selected as one. There are a total of three lower Vigos and one higher Vigo. The three lower Vigos manage the Regions, separated into the Core, the Rim, and the Unknown Wilds, and answer to the legitimate face of the Black Sun, the Vigo of Operations.

 

Vigos

Vigo of Operations - This the legitimate face of the Black Sun, the head Vigo who answers only to the Leader of the Black Sun. They are usually stationary aboard the Titan, rarely venturing out as the true purpose of the Titan is for Black Sun dealings.

 

Vigo of the Core - This Vigo controls the Core Worlds, include the Deep Core, Core, and Colony Worlds outward to the Rim Worlds.


Vigo of the Rim - This Vigo controls the Rim worlds, including the Inner, Expanded Regiod, Mid, and  Outer Rim Worlds from the edges of the Core to the reaches of the Unknown and Wild regions of space.

 

Vigo of the Unknown Wilds - This Vigo controls the Unknown and Wild regions of Space from the edges of the Rim to reaches of the Galaxy's edge.


Classes and Operations (Contracted) 

Smugglers - As a Smuggler, you are the initial Life Blood of the Black Sun. Whether smuggling goods from one planet to another or smuggling troops and/or slaves through faction territories, your job is to keep the flow of the the operations as smoothly as possible. 

 

Hunters - As a Hunter, you are the initial Enforcement of the Black Sun. Despite usually delving into Bounties and occasional Assassinations, Hunters can also be used as guns for hire to other factions, solidifying temporary relations. 

 

Pirate - As a Pirate, you are the initial Heart of the Black Sun. You are the terror of the skies and open space, usually meant to instill fear and terrorize those whom openly oppose the Black Sun. Whether through attacking enemy supply lines or terrorizing the competition and/or citizens who won't conform, your job is to ensure that opposing governments and corporations are compliant.

The Imperial Knights

 

The Imperial Knights are an order of Force users once sworn to the Imperial Remnant and its Emperor/Empress. While the Imperial Remnant no longer exists, and its empress reduced to nothing more than a political face of a rebellion, they still stand strong. Formed in the era of the Galactic Alliance, the order still bears the scars of its split with the Jedi order. Contrarily to the Jedi Order, The Imperial Knights are primarily a militant order, training with, serving alongside, and commanding elite units of the Rebel Alliance. They are sworn to protect the citizens of the Rebellion and purge any evil when and where they find it. At times they may be aggressive, choosing preemptive strikes to save lives instead of inaction or purely defensive actions. They are sworn to prevent the Leadership of any Light Side Forces from falling to the Darkside of the force. If asked about their charge an Imperial Knight would answer: "My life is sworn to defend the Galaxy and its citizens from the corrupting influence of the Dark Side, wherever it is found. I serve the the will of the Force, and that service includes purging friends and enemies from the influence of the Dark Side which may move them to harm the innocent." 

 

Though their founder was a Jedi Knight, they are not affiliated with the Jedi Order. The Imperial Knights represent militarism and revanchism against the Sith and any other force that threatens peace, and will use the Force as a tool to do so. They will never willingly accept Jedi or Rebel Leadership who use or partake in the darkside and prefer to operate in coordination with such allies but do not answer to them. This would include up to killing or exorcising Jedi councils, or Rebel Leadership should they become tainted. 

 

This faction and its beliefs directly contradict main aspects of being a Jedi. They purge the darkside where they find it, without hesitation. 

 

How the Imperial Knights operate:

 

The Imperial Knights aggressively hunt down Sith and will attempt to redeem them. If that cannot be done or is unfeasible, they will kill them in order to prevent them from doing further harm to the galaxy.

 

They coordinate with the Rebel Alliance Military, commanding commando units or military brigades and can attain the rank of General or Admiral.

 

They do not train as mediators or diplomats, but as investigators, hunters, and warriors focused on precision.

 

The Imperial Knights focus on teamwork with their fellow Knights and squads of npcs. They are not loners and are never sent on missions without full support, and are never sent on missions with less than an NPC escort. The reason is for the maintenance of the order, if an Imperial Knight falls to the darkside, the support is there to redeem or destroy them.

 

On writing an Imperial Knight:

 

The Imperial Knights tread on the edge of the Dark Side, sacrificing themselves to eradicate it in the process. They will use whatever tool they can muster to save the galaxy from the Sith. Some outside the Knights may see them as Darksiders (citing aggressiveness, harnessing the Force as a tool to defeat their enemies, pragmatism, etc), but the Imperial Knights take every precaution they can to combat the allure of the Dark Side. Long sessions of mediation are taken after every deployment and they are constantly monitored by their fellow Knights and the Grandmaster for any signs that they are slipping into the pull of evil.

 

This order may seem like an easy way to be a Jedi and also an aggressive pragmatic force user, hunting the Sith down like the dogs they are. However:

 

There are reasons that the Knights are never deployed in numbers less than two. It is not easy to be an Imperial Knight. Every mission is sacrifice. Even though they strive for the traditional ideals of the Light Side the Imperial Knights recognize hard choices need to be made, and that reflects heavily in writing a Knight. In the process of a mission they may be called to make choices that contradict those traditional Lightsider ideals in an effort to eradicate the Sith and preserve the greater good. It is never an easy choice to make, and if it ever becomes that way, they will have fallen and their fellow Knights will treat them accordingly. This hard duty tears at the soul of a Imperial Knight. This isn’t a simple order to write a character for. It is a harsh calling for a Force user, constantly exhausting the soul of the character, and while they strive to do good, good might not always be the outcome. The order is strict and If a character begins to fall they will either be forcibly cleansed or killed by their fellow Knights or will willingly sacrifice themselves if their time has come. For a Knight, death is preferable to a life lived in darkness. Eventually after many years of service, the line they tread begins to wear on them, and they cannot retain their purity. When this time comes, they prefer to die alone in battle, a final offer of service to the light.

 

Ultimately, the Imperial Knights hold a lonely vigil, enduring lives of hardship and sacrifice to protect the galaxy from an evil that can never truly be conquered. The life of an Imperial Knight is suffering, isolation from the galaxy, and an eventual violent death.

THE JENSAARAI (The Ninja of the galaxy)
 

In Brief:

The Jensaarai are an openly-secretive monastic group of light-sided force users dedicated to protecting one another, the worlds that allow them to take up residency on them, and the galaxy at large. The Jensaarai were born from a misunderstanding of Sith teachings stolen from the Jedi. From there they grew and emerged as a unique force tradition, affiliated with the light but carrying trappings of the ancient Sith ways.

 

The Jensaarai are an alternative to the ways of the Jedi and the Imperial Knights in that they are a blending of Sith and Jedi traditions whilst still remaining dedicated to one another, above all, and peace and a sometimes brutal justice for the galaxy. They are skilled combatants who utilize stealth, sneakiness, and deception in an effort to survive.
 

How Can I Join The Jensaarai?

An individual must be invited by a current Defender to join their ranks. On a game level, that simply means asking a current player to help bring your character in as an Apprentice.


Weapons, Arms, and Armor:

Jensaarai Carry and fight with a myriad of weapons, most common being the lightsaber. Other weapons include, but are not limited to a chain and sickle, staves, a variety of spears, explosives, and firearms.

 

While Jedi prize their lightsaber and Sith their trappings as their most cherished possessions, Jensaarai hold a similar regard to their personally crafted, lightsaber resistant armor. This armor is crafted as one of the final steps before an Apprentice ascends to the rank of Defender.

The Kosai

 

The Kosai are descendants of Revanchist practitioners who learned various philosophical principles from Sith teachings over the generations. While they strongly believe in the Living Force, they also take a more naturalistic approach to seeing their place in the galaxy, believing that their influence and purpose is minimal in the grand scheme of things. Their beliefs center around cause and effect, taking a very neutral stance on happenings and the understanding that supposedly derives thereof. Much like many aspects of nature, the Kosai think that the Force has a very strong tendency to balance itself out, like karma, which will occur when the Force determines and no sooner. Some take it upon themselves to be conduits of that change, but the wiser Kosai tend to understand that it is hubris to assume they know what is right, and leave things to chance. However, it is strongly ingrained in their beliefs that everything comes with a price. As a side note, Kosai also tend to wear darker colored robes or light armor to make it easier to blend into shadows, though this is merely common and not standard for all members.

 

Following the example of Bane, they adopted a form of the Rule of Two, nomadically travelling the galaxy. No more than two Kosai, a Master and an Apprentice, would journey together. When groups would meet, they would part soon after, believing that gathering together brought greater risk to themselves and their beliefs. Every community they came to they offered services, and generally only asked for food or supplies. Sometimes, a Force sensitive individual would be found by a Master lacking an apprentice, and the offer would be made to the potential recruit to train them. If accepted, tradition dictated that they immediately leave the apprentice's life behind, travelling to unknowns to learn the ways of the galaxy and the Force. The unknowns were always dictated by the experience of the apprentice, meant to expose them to as many new situations as possible. Eventually, once the apprentice learned enough from the Master, the Master would confer upon them the rank of Journeyman, and they would need to train their own apprentice to fully come into the rank of Master.

 

While all Kosai share a similar belief system, they share no overarching organization or support structure. They are regarded by most as mercenaries, but unliked due to how they conduct business and how they often coldly interact with others. Everything, after all, has a price, and the Kosai tend to not lift a finger unless that price can be met. However, to some, this price can sometimes be metaphorical, and because of this from an outside perspective the actions of a Kosai can sometimes be seen as unpredictable and random. At the end of all things, most Kosai are simply trying to find their place in the galaxy, and understand that their place is often as nomads, travelling at the will of the Force.

 

Is this faction appropriate for those new to the site or RP?: 

 

No, it is recommended that players attempt to play characters in other factions before making a Kosai, especially if they can eventually bring one in at Journeyman (Knight) rank.

 

What do I need to do to get started? 

 

So you want a Force User outside of the typical Jedi and Sith flavors? The Kosai fit that bill perfectly as nomadic Force Users that span the grey spectrum. This culture is wide enough and large enough that most RPers are welcome to try their individual takes on it. However, as this is not an official faction, you will need to approach an existing Force User faction to take your trials. For those leaning towards the darkness or the more zealous characters this might mean hunting down and challenging a Sith to a trial by combat, or for the more peaceful characters approaching the Jedi and requesting trials. While characters belonging to this organization may train other characters, they cannot administer proper trials without being considered a faction, nor do they really hold any significant rank in an OOC sense outside of those an actual faction pseudo-grants them. For these reasons, it is recommended that newer players bypass these extra required hurdles for making their first Force User character.

Any active Journeyman or Master can help train you towards being a Journeyman, and then when you feel you are ready (usually either after helping to train another character to Journeyman or participating in two lengthy plot arcs that include combat), you are free to seek out the Jedi or Sith to attempt your Master trials, traditionally as described above.
