Nar Shaddaa - Rebel Alliance Headquarters

Again, Draygo flashed that little smile. “The only thing that I’m guilty of is being a fool. I’ve been accused of much worse than that. I expect that if I didn’t believe in foolish things, then I wouldn’t be here. I have to believe that people can change their destinies and that they have free will. I have no choice.” At that moment, the barely-perceptible whine of a low-powered repulsorlift engine approached and a squat, cylindrical droid hovered in. Its chassis, not entirely unlike the utilitarian form of an Viper-class probe droid, bore the scorch marks of atmospheric re-entry and the smoke of a primitive rocket engine.

Draygo made eye contact with the courier droid as its photoreceptors scanned her body. Apparently satisfied with its recognition scans, the droid deposited a little plastoid box on the railing surrounding the holoprojector pit. The veteran Jedi cracked the seal, revealing a set of five palm-sized metal discs. Armiena just nodded and clipped one to her belt

“I think that your time as my Padawan will soon come to an end,” Armiena explained as she rose and began to leave the briefing room. She made her way to a concentration of Jedi within the Rebel headquarters. “There’s always more to learn, but at this point it would be unfair of me to keep you under my thumb and not allow you to operate and develop your skills independently. Speaking of which, there’s a job that I need handled by someone I trust implicitly. I’ll tell you when--”

Draygo scowled as an unmistakable sensation of numbness fell over her entire body. The color fled from Draygo’s face as she pressed through the medical bay and to the other side of the numbing bubble cast by the ysalamir and to a private ward containing Sarna, Eleison, an unknown Rebel Talon, and a Mon Calamari Healer whose name she had only read a few minutes ago. “Sarna, Eleison, Kil,” Armiena began, nodding to each of them in their turn. “I’ll be brief. The Order is in a difficult spot. In the present emergency I am submitting myself as a replacement for Master Alluyen until our situation is normalized--and if you will have me, I would like the three of you to serve on my council.”

Brief, indeed, but the veteran had no desire to waste the precious time of three Jedi with an unnecessary face-to-face meeting--not when she had a much better tool to replace that.

A prickle in the force ran up her spine and Sandy turned on a boot heel and bowed low to Armiena Draygo. She was surprised to see her, and was suddenly glad she had nothing to feel guilty about as she raised an emerald eye to look into Armiena’s own pale green. The woman gave her a returning nod that spoke to the brusqueness of her conversation and Sandy was nearly taken aback by what it entailed.

But there was a truth there. The Jedi order needed a leader, and this woman had led the order during the height of the old wars. But was it even something Sandy could speak on? The answer to that question settled like a rock in Sandy’s stomach and she could feel her face grow slightly paler. There were so few masters now that it really was up to her and the few that stood in the medical ward.

She nodded.

“Yes.” Then she bowed again. “Grandmaster.”

Kirlocca could only nod his head at Tobias. For some odd reason, when he looked up and away from the man's face, he realized that the two of them had already begun to walk towards the medical room where Alluyen lay. As the two walked in, they had followed behind Armiena and some handful of other Jedi whom were already present. Kirlocca stared at Adenna's face for a moment, memories of her when she was a fresh Jedi Knight and eager to help the galaxy flooded his mind. He would have closed his own eyes to fight back some tears at the fact that the state of the galaxy had even gotten this bad since his time within the Force, but decided that his own emotions were a good display for others, maybe even Tobias.

<< She was always slightly on the brash side. But she's always been a strong fighter, one of whom I wish I got to pass some of my own knowledge off to her... >>

His words were loud and spoken generally. When he was first placed on the Jedi Council so many years ago, he was always careful of whom he taught and what he taught. Now he felt like he was given a second chance to actually pass on everything that he knew to those whom were willing to learn it.

Tobias followed behind his wookiee friend, letting him enter the ward first from their pair. As soon as he felt Adenna there, he tightened his grip on his cane. There was still a heart beat within her- she was still alive. Even to think about her passing was not within Tobias to do. Such things could just break him, mentally. He was already at the precipice of change- he would either stay on the path and climb up- or he would take a step off the hillside to plummet into the darkness and his doom. As both of them stood by her side- Tobias set his cane aside and reached into a pocket in his robes. He pulled out a black metallic rope, inlaid with different colors of gems and crystals- no less than three were kyber crystals. The prominent three were a gentle hue; two of green and one of blue, he wove the cord around her hand that wasn't connected to anything medical related. The gift was done without any ceremony, which was counter to what Tobias had intended. Adenna wasn't one for anything flashy, and her role as a Jedi Grandmaster would not allow her to be gaudy with her appearance- so he had hand-made this specifically for her. Only Kirlocca might have seen, as he was standing right there but Tobias didn't feel nervous about exposing his feeling for Adenna in front of him. Tobias loved her with all his being and just wanted her to wake up.

There was some conversation going on behind them, but Tobias didn't pay much attention to it for the moment. With his free hand he moved his blindfold back and wiped the tears away with a swipe of his fingers. His eyes still closed, he reached down to wipe the tears over the necklace and her wrist. There had just been a Force Spell he had done, one that if she awoke would leave a little vision for her, it would explain the necklace- and she would know where it was if it was removed from her person.

Then, he opened his eyes for the first time in months- and the light filtered in through his retinas. Using the Force to dull the pain and acclimate to the light, he looked with his altered vision upon his best friend, his lover, his teacher. How he wished he would have pressed the point after the Black Sun Station and he could have been there, with her at the fight that placed her here. His vision was starting to cause a migraine- so he closed his eyelids over his scared eyes and once again he relied upon his senses and the Force to paint his surroundings in just as good of detail as his real eyes used to, with the bonus of watching the flow of the Force and all the colors it provided- even behind the wrapping around his face. Which he pulled down and adjusted it so that it was comfortable on his face once again. "She is, Kirlocca, she has not passed. She is strong and brash. Although, you would have been proud of how... mindful she has been since becoming Grandmaster..." Tobias whispered so only he could hear, and then heard Sandy speak to the group behind him- and his stomach fluttered. He could repair that bridge- but why should he when- his mind hit a roadblock as the discussion behind him and Kirlocca replayed in his minds eye quickly. He slammed mental barriers down all around him, closing his mind to the Force. If he wasn't careful, he'd lose his temper and that was the very last thing any of them needed. Instead, he oriented himself to the conversation and listened. Mentally making a side note that Kyrie was here, maybe she could enlighten him on what had happened on Gala... but that would be for later.

Then he really settled in for yet another being to take the Grandmaster role. If he had his datapad he'd have made a note to see if this one made it for more than a few months... or would the fates line up against Armenia as well? It was as if the Grandmasters role was cursed... he ground his teeth as he contemplated what was happening in the other realm- what lazerbrain was making up the rules and plan should be dealt with. Well, at least Armenia was upfront about seizing power this way, that he did have to give her props for. That was all in his mind, though, yet outwardly, he displayed an act of stoicism.

On 10/23/2020 at 9:41 AM, Tobias Vos said:

Tut and Tom chatted together, relaying the events of the past month. The pair even chuckled for a brief moment. Tobias smiled to himself, he was seated behind them and resting his right hand on his staff. The Kiffar wondered about what the circumstances were that was bringing them all together- and just the galaxy in general. Why was it always in turmoil and why were the supposed good guys always back peddling and stalling like a malfunctioning actuator? What could he do to- The thought paused before it finished. He had tried- and he had been shunned by the leadership twice. Deep down he knew he should feel frustration both at himself and the leadership, but the Jedi Order kept changing leaders left and right, and now with Adenna in the state she was currently in- that was what this meeting was going to be about. Sighing, he adjusted the cloth wrapping around his eyes. There was nothing more he wanted than to be back on the front lines and even the little sparring match he had just went through proved he could fight, even while maintaining the ruses.

His right hand moved to scratch the stubble growing on his chin, and then he rested his head in his hand. From there, his mind wandered and questions came in and out of his mind in such a rapid pace he was caught up in the mental hurricane, he almost didn't feel when Tut tapped his knee. If half his face wasn't covered up, his eyes would have blinked rapidly and it would appear as if he dozed off , right here in the briefing room. But since he was blind at the moment, he was spared all that. Stretching his back, he leaned forward to whisper with Tut and Tom- and about old plots and schemes. It seems they were feeling rambunctious as well- and with Tut still injured...

Pim winced with the Trandosian words. She realized that her master was helping her pull the essence of the words from Vox's mind, despite being in another language. She played over what he said in his mind and the attitude behind the words. Face value, she understood. He was an experienced warrior it seemed and would probably obliterate her in any sparing match.

"Perhaps not physical combat... you would out class me in a heartbeat." She explained, hesitantly. Then her eyes brightened as sudden realization came over her. Then with an excited tone- "Do you want to learn how to do this?" Her Zabrak smile spread across her face as she held up her hand and the spheres swirled around her hand. With her other hand, she held out a black rubber sphere. "If you want..." she added, as her confidence faltered for a moment.

The Trandoshan listened, and that was when the woman, "Pim," confirmed that he would outclass her easily. He was disappointed but didn't show as that would simply be too disrespectful. He could leave now, however something told him to stay and see what else there was. Then the Zabrak female openly stated something else, allowing the orbs to hover. That was something that caught Vox's attention, whatever sorcery it was, he felt attracted to it, almost like a beckoning call.

"Very well then," Vox replied, nodding more confidently than he actually felt, "I will learn this... Way."

Her words, they cut like blades as she degraded herself before me. Which, in turn, only made the pit in my stomach deeper at the pain I had unknowingly placed upon her. If she was the fool, then I had been the Jester that paved the way for her foolishness. And that tore at me so. As the courier droid entered, my gaze shifted away from her, darting my sorrow filled eye into obliviousness.

"I see. My words hung in the air, filled with partial sadness and partial relief, knowing that if she truly wanted to lead such an Order as the Jedi, then my place was far from beside her. With the dreams plaguing my sleepless nights and my weakened state of health, I would do her no good to remain her Padawan. And yet still, a part of me wishes that it was not so, that I could still remain beside her. "And this mission... What does it pertain-"

I had barely gotten my words out as we walked when a feeling of disorientation swept over me, my face flushing pale as a weird sensation unknown to me causing me to nearly topple until an attendant manage to catch me and escort me out of the Ysalamir's range where what little strength I had left returned to me. Confused, I gazed at the attendant briefly before catching up with Armiena and my gaze briefly met that of the woman from before that was present when Armiena met with her son among a few others.

Weakened by lack of sleep and malnutrition, I stayed silent as I watched the ordeal progress. I was but a Padawan, little say so in the affairs of those higher ranked than me, even if I had wanted to say anything. What I was watching was but a rare sight to behold, the politics of the Order I had grown to call home. But in my current state of mind, I felt unworthy to witness. And yet I was here, watching the rise of a Grandmaster, my own Master, even if I was not far from leaving her tutelage, wherever that path would take me.

Pim tilted her head to the side as she tried register the alien language. She narrowed her eyes as she was concentrating on the words. As it was short and sweet, she got the gist quickly enough and motioned for him to follow her to a more relaxed area of the training room they were in. Finding her way onto a padded mat, she sat down and invited her pupil to sit across from her.

Giddy with the chance to teach someone, she placed an orb in front of @Vox. "You will just want to breath first. The Force is around us all- it is what binds the galaxy together. Those that can touch this presence become Force Users." She extended her arm and let the orbs float around her arm in a particular pattern before returning to her lap. "That allows us to have certain abilities that you must practice. My Master says we all have our own skills and our own things we cannot do. I'm skilled with telekenisis- the practice of moving and levitating objects. I'm not that great at the whole fighting thing... at least yet. But we all must start somewhere. To start you should close your eyes and try to feel my presence within the Force- or try to sense the others nearby. And above all else- be calm and patient. I've been doing this for a few years and am still learning new things every day. So, trust me- just breath and reach out with your mind- don't worry about anything else."

She was starting to ramble she noticed, so she decided to be quiet and let this newcomer begin his lesson.

After the hot reaction he had, a moment of solace settled into the Jedi Masters' mind and knew he would be more attuned to the meeting now that the brief flare was over. He pondered about what would happen next- the over all plan and his own plan...

“Just… Master. I always disliked that title.” For a second, Armiena’s eyes widened and there was a glimmer of emotion in her face that resembled… fear? Apprehension? Or perhaps it was merely a sudden appreciation of the awesome burden that the veteran Jedi had just volunteered to bear. Whatever it was, the moment soon passed and she jostled a plastoid crate containing a set of small discs. The miniature divots of holoprojectors and sensors could be seen about their surface. “This is likely to be one of the very few moments that we are all in the same location. That's probably for the best. There’s a lot of work to do. I prepared something that we could use to coordinate our efforts. The comm unit is simple enough to operate once you have it calibrated to your Force signature, just place it on a flat surface and it will tap into an encrypted Holonet channel to maintain a virtual Council chamber.”

She stared directly at Sandy Sarna. “I know about your mission to you-know-where, and as profoundly risky as it may be, it’s necessary. Force knows that we have so little on-the-ground intel there. We need to know everything you can give us--orbital infrastructure, interstellar traffic, planetary defenses, location of air traffic control towers, it's all needed. I suspect that ysalamir’s for the initial infiltration, get you into atmosphere without every Sith noticing you're there--just… kill the damned thing if there’s a hint of trouble,” she added unhappily to the towering marine behind her as she approached the younger Jedi Master. As she handed the smaller woman the communications unit, Draygo drew the smaller woman into an embrace that had to have been startling and whispered something into her ear.

Spoiler

“You’re one of the best people that I know. I’d be proud to call you my own.”

She repeated the same gesture for the half-Anzati, again handing her one of the communications units and murmuring a few words under her breath.

Spoiler

“I know it’s not an easy path. Keep the faith. It’s worth it.”

Turning her back on the two Jedi Masters, Armiena faced the young Jedi Healer, her Padawan, and the Wookiee who loomed over every other sapient in the room. “Kil, Genesis, Kirlocca. Perhaps a less dangerous mission for you three, but still of critical importance. Chandrila was hit badly by the Mandalorians during their raid across the Core. The few remaining elements of their fleet were driven off by the Rebel Alliance, but the planet was damaged horribly by their attack. Mass casualty events in the cities, terrible damage to orbital and surface infrastructure, even failures of basic infrastructure like water purification. The Rebel Alliance is out of their depths when it comes to managing a reconstruction effort like this. We can’t allow a world this core to Coruscant to remain in such a vulnerable state.

“The Survivor’s Foundation has dispatched a pair of their larger ships to take the lead, but… they’re borderline pacifistic. If the Mandos left stragglers behind, or Force forbid, the Sith show up in force, they won’t be in any position to resist. So, you have two objectives: assist the Survivor’s Foundation with their reconstruction and security wherever you’re needed; and reinforce the planet’s defenses wherever you can. The planet will need an early-warning system in the event that the Sith are eyeing it for takeover. We cannot simply allow the Sith to have complete domination of the Core, no matter what happens.”

Draygo passed another of the communications discs to the young Mon Calamari Knight. Although her Padawan had nearly completed his own training, Armiena suspected that Genesis wasn’t quite in the mindset to operate on the doorstep of a Sith-controlled Coruscant, and would be relieved that know that there would be both a Jedi Healer as well as one of the Order’s most veteran Masters alongside him.

“Now, questions? I can help you secure any resources you need, but I have a target that I want to tend to myself.”

As Master Armiena began speaking to the last three of us, my gaze briefly shifted between the two that stood with me. Both were powerful, both firm in their stance, and both seemed to know themselves well as was evident in their stature. But for me, standing there quietly, weak and fragile from my battle with the Sith, I could only wish to have the confidence and steadfast they held within themselves. And the larger of the two, a Wookiee, seemed far beyond even my years of life in his knowledge. I couldn't help but wonder what wisdom he held as I gazed at him.

As Master Armiena finished speaking and asked for questions, I waited for the others to speak before I grabbed at her to drag her to the side. "Master, are you sure I'm capable of providing such aid? I'm still weak from my duel with the Sith at Corellia." There was panic evident in my voice despite trying to hide it, trailed by a sense of fear that I would become a liability if we were to truly face another Sith Armada. But the truth of the matter was what question I asked next as the truth escaped my lips. "Will I ever be able to get past this?"

Kirlocca was still staring at Adenna when Armiena spoke. He had thought him and Tobias had quietly walked in, yet his own presence seemed to draw attention to itself. It was something he had not considered, yet from his own memories understood that it was a common thing for him to be recognized wherever he went unless he made an effort to hide himself. Armiena's voice was rather sharp and to the point, much like remembered it. There was a sense of sadness in remembering it, as he always associated it Aryian. And yet, we are both here, and he is not... There was some amusement in the fact that he understood that less than 8 days ago he was one with the Force and most likely spent time with him in the afterlife. But such memories were not something he possessed anymore. And now, he was before Armiena, whom assumed her old role that she once had so long ago. But he was before others of whom he did not know. She assigned him to a mission to aid Chandrila. Outside of Hanna City, Chandrila offers up not military strategic value other than proximity to core worlds, to which the Sith Empire holds, atleast to his latest readings he did on the trip over. The young male pulled the newly minted Grandmaster aside to speak to her, and Kirlocca turned and looked at Tobias and the Mon Calamari.

<< It might be useful to poke other companies as well and see if any would be willing to provide good faith relief. BioTech and Healthidrive are two that were always in good standings with neutral planets... >>

It then struck him that when Armiena spoke, she did not give out an assignment to Tobais. He wondered if his own assignment to Chandrila was more for others than himself. But then again, She didn't seem to even question that the Wookiee was back to life after being gone for years. Perhaps she is running off on instinct by this point. Kirlocca reasoned within his own mind that he would have done the same thing. Leaning towards Tobias, he placed a paw upon the man.

<< I could use your assistance if you don't mind before I head off... >>

"That's it?" Vox asked out loud, a bit incredulous about the explanation. He had faith in Divine, his medications and visions guided him here... To something not combat related. To something even otherworldly to the off-world Trandoshan. He sighed and did as told.

The Chieftain relaxed, doing the exact same thing in meditation. Relax, push all dark and negative thought away. Let Divines touch flow through you, and allow it to grasp body, mind, and soul. The Trandoshan eased himself and closed his eyes, slowed his breathing and focused, letting go the tension he had felt and currently feels. He could feel everything flow away, and another feeling, a great calmness snake in.

After a minute of this, Vox's focus became more refined as he tried to ''feel' around him. Almost like an answer, Vox could... Sense something. An outline in the dark, a presence he'd never felt before. Excitable. It was the girl. Vic could somehow... Feel? Sense? Whatever it was, it was like he could see her emotion. And it was almost like an outline of color indeed. Vox then said quietly, keeping the focus and eyes closed, "You have a lot of energy..."

Tobias remained there for a moment, still as a statue. Then Kirlocca touched him and brought him back to the present. Vos nodded, "Of course, my friend." And both Jedi turned to attend to what Kirlocca had planned. Before crossing the threshold out of the room, Vos paused and looked towards where Adenna lay- and with a sigh, he walked out. Kirlocca, the tall alien he was was a few steps ahead so Vos scooted to catch up. In a low conspiratorial voice, "I'll plan the welcome back party for you. I haven't got anything scheduled so I have time..." There was a layer of humor in the statement. Vos had felt a very brief moment of disappointment from the wookiee before he rationalized the feeling away.  If the wookiee looked behind him, they're be a sly smile on the Kiffar's face. Kirlocca's disappointment was much like Vos's, when no one had asked about his scars or what had happened to his eyes. However, maybe that was for the better... no one called special attention to it so it wasn't like it was directly pointed out. so that was alright he supposed. In the back of his mind he wondered if he should throw a party for the wookiee. A few steps later Vos decided if there was a party there would not be confetti. It'd take years to get all the glitter and everything out of the fur.

Pim held back a smirk 'Thats it?' the alien had asked. Confident he couldn't sense her, she giggled internally. Then she replied in her head- "Oh, you have no idea..." in a mischievous tone only she could hear. Then after a few moments- she felt him sink into the flow of the Force. After what seemed like an hour, but in actuality was only a few moments, he was connected! Even she was excited for him. In a calm yet distracted tone she replied to him... "Everyone is a little different- and their use of the Force is different. Some people cannot use telekenisis, others cannot run or leap as far as others- you must be cautious as you figure out where your weakness lay. You don't want to fall into a pit trap with overconfidence..." Pim warned.

"Now, keep your breathing the same and open your eyes slowly. See the sphere? Reach out to it and since this is your first time- imagine invisible tendrils of energy coming from your hand and wrapping around the sphere and lifting it into the air. Not far, and not fast. You're doing terrific."

As she said this, she demonstrated as the sphere in front of her floated up and held there.

Draygo’s gaze shifted towards the back of the medical ward as she spoke, scanning the famliar face for a Kiffar that she had lambasted with some harsh words the last time they had spoken. That recollection--the last time she had seen Alluyen, now that she thought of it--failed to elicit embarrassment or regret, yet the expression on her face began to harden as she issued her orders and began to reflect on the prospect of using a fellow Jedi and sapient being for the skills that made them both useful and dangerous.

Then her Padawan spoke, and the mask slipped away. The idea of sending Genesis to operate independently from her guidance--from her protection, more accurately--would wrack her nerves for weeks and months, but she had decided that it was necessary for the boy’s development as a Jedi and the excellent young man that he was becoming. He would be stronger for the experience if he made it through--and there would be other Jedi who could keep an eye on him--but Draygo would be on the verge of pulling her hair out for want of news of her apprentice.

“It will hurt more than you know. But you’ll make it through… one terrible day at a time.” There was a vague, half-remembered pain in her eyes--something would have been useful to relate had she not been surrounded by half of the Order’s operational Jedi. “And then one difficult day, and then one day at a time. And if the Sith do make an attempt, I’ll be in range to reinforce--Kirlocca! I’ll need you in a moment.”

Armiena seized her Padawan by the shoulders and drew him in for a hug. She could feel bones under the robes--he’d lost weight since Corellia. She murmured something into his ear, so that only he or someone who was very close would be able to hear her.

Spoiler

“Make yourself proud, Genesis. I love you.”

The moment couldn’t last, however. Draygo had to stop indulging herself, had to pull away and accept the fact that there was a very good chance that she had probably ordered one or more of these fine sapients to their deaths. Anything less than her own full efforts would have been an insult to them. “Master, Exorcist--Force be with you,” Draygo said with a nod towards Sarna and Eleison. And to the towering yet speechless Rebel Talon, she added, “Captain, make their eyes water.”

And then she left the ward, searching for a Wookiee Jedi Master and a Kiffar whose skillset she was likely to require for her chosen battlefield.

As the Wookiee walked with Tobias out of the room, the words and posture of both seemed to change and start to fall into a familiar sense, at least for Kirlocca. The man, while at times had a very hard shell to crack and could almost come off as too blunt and focused on his own purpose at times, was very disarming. The more time he spent around him, the more he saw Dahar within him and had slowly come to see what Dahar had seen in him. Even Kirlocca had to admit that his first impression of Tobias were not flattering, but having someone introduced at the fringe of a battle tended to always skew one's mind.

<< No party needed my friend. I am just grateful to be back amongst you again. But what I need is a lightsaber, as I do not have one. While I doubt very much I will need one on this upcoming mission, having one would still bring some familiarity back to me and the Force. Perhaps maybe you would also like to indulge me in a spar soon- that is if we have the time to spare for it... >>

Kirlocca then heard his name shouted out, and it came from Armiena. The Wookiee slowly turned around to wait for her. In his younger days as a Jedi Knight, he would have kept going and just had her catch up to both. But over the course of time, he learned the time was never as pressing as he thought it was. He made sure that within his own presence to pour out a sense of calmness and warmth, so that Tobias and Armiena would know that he was content on waiting for her.

Both beings turned to look back to the new Grandmaster. Tobias let the cane he held immobile on the floor as his hand left it to dig into his sling- he handed the lightsaber stashed away to Kirlocca. As there was already a lightsaber attached to Tobias's belt, actually two, he wasn't stressed about giving out one of the hobby-blades he had, especially to a friend about to go into battle.

Tobias felt Kirlocca's mind wander to a familiar thread of thought- "Your thoughts betray you, Master Jedi. I miss him every single day... but... I don't think I ever told you. I found Dahar on Taris. My former companions- Sarah and... DuVos took him Beyond the Veil- and Dahar is doing some good work there. He's at peace and content there so rest your mind and know that he is okay now." Tobias smiled warmly to him then moved onto a different topic....

"Here, take this. I... " Tobias seemed a little embarrassed but it was only in his whispered words to Kirlocca... "I make sabers to help ease my mind when it races and as you can see- I have a few extra... heh. Maybe the Master Draygo wants to spar with us as well- she did call out when you mentioned that after all. Hehe." Tobias ended with a small chuckle and gave the wookiee a lightsaber. It wasn't top tier quality- and there were a few unique features to the hilt. There seemed to be two different power cells and a switch from active mode to training mode. This was also something Tobias had been working on since Kirlocca's funeral on Kashyyyk. Then, he turned back to wait for the new Grandmaster to approach, trying to remember when he had seen her last... He picked up his cane and placed it in front of him with his hands resting atop the device.

Again, there was the stifling presence of the ysalamir that lingered on the very edge of the medical ward. Upon straying into its radius, Draygo stumbled and staggered into the side of the portal as it slid open to admit her passage…and once again into the sliding doors when they automatically closed after a few seconds. She glared towards a corner of the medical ward’s lobby where an armored harness rested, waiting for the metal doors to complete their closing cycle and then dutifully open once again to allow her to leave. What that marine had been thinking, bringing one of those inconvenient reptiles to a meeting of half the Order’s operational Jedi…

As she jogged to chase down a remarkably fleet-of-foot Jedi Master and a three-meter tall Wookiee, Draygo passed innumerable Alliance personnel who darted to either side of the base’s corridors to make way for her passage. Draygo couldn’t avoid reflecting on the many times that she had visited similar military installations, either as Jedi Grandmaster or as a Jedi attache to support conventional military forces--one visit had resulted in her physically assaulting Starlisk for a catastrophic lapse in judgement. She would need to meet the leaders of some on the new factions within the Rebel Alliance--the Imperial Remnant and the Imperial Knights in particular--for a relapse of Starlisk’s misguided militancy could spell doom for the entire collaboration. At the same time, the Jedi couldn’t be allowed to slip back into their ecclesiastic tendencies--the previous war had shown the potential of close coordination between Republic marines and Jedi who had been trained for combat.

“Kirlocca, Vos, good, I’d hoped to catch both of you,” Draygo breathed heavily as she gained the distance on the two Masters. The two had found a hall dedicated for hand-to-hand drills and Draygo felt the obliging spring of a training mat under her boots. Her pale-green gaze judged the distance across the training mat. Even if a few Rebel marines had begun to watch them hopefully, there would at least be enough range for a semi-confidential conversation. “Wonderful. It’s not quite privacy, but we’ll have some space while we speak. A matter--two matters--that I will be personally very grateful if you could pay some attention to.” She nodded to the Kiffar. Vos had a reputation for building lightsabers, not for any particular purpose but simply for the joy of the craft. “Hilt me.”

Sandy returned the hug and felt a surge of emotion roll from the back of her throat to the base of her stomach. She let it boil through her and let it burn off. It was a mixture of deep joy that itched on the edge of pride. She whispered an almost tearful thank you to the grandmaster. For perhaps in time she could call her something more. But that would depend on Aidan, and he was deep in mourning for the failed strike mission. Perhaps he would be more amicable to talking when or if she returned from Korriban.

She stepped back and glanced from Kyrie then to the Rebel Sergeant at Arms. Would this be their collective funeral?

“Then let us go.”

Her words lingering in the air as she departed, a sense of kinship having bonded between us long before this date. But to hear her words echoing in my ears as I watched her walk away, I couldn't help but smile and lipsync a return response of the same as she disappeared. She may have not been my biological mother, but she had grown to be such a figure, and that seemed to settle my nerves quite a bit. With a smile, I turned to @Leena Kil.

"Hi. I'm Genesis." I spoke with a nervous scratch atop my spiked hair and forced smile. I had never been too aquainted with sole introductions, especially new ones. But it's seems that she and I would be spending quite an amount of time together. "I suppose introductions are in order?"

I still wasn't over my fight and what aftermath was left within me in it's wake, but Master Armiena's words left me with a sense of purpose, even if I was to face it one foot in front of the other. My only hope now was that I could make her proud when I return. I just prayed that we didn't have to deal with Sith in our upcoming mission, a need for my own spiritual healing a necessity. Waiting for Leena's reply, I smiled akwardly continuously.

Leena turned with a warm smile. She was excited to get going, even if it was to a Sith world. The world, the people in it, they needed healing in body, mind, and spirit. “Hello there Genesis. I am Leena Kil, Apprentice healer, errrr . . . “ she paused catching herself as memories of her time with Master Sandy flooded her consciousness, “I guess I am a full fledged healer now. Still,” she offered a warm webbed handshake in greeting, “it is a pleasure to meet you. Hopefully this mission will go smoother than Mon Cal. No dark side monsters. No Sith invaders.”

”I know there is a sizable team of world healers and rebuilders preparing to go. I suspect that preparations will be done tonight and we will head out tomorrow. Want to ride on the lead ship with me? Maybe we can talk more?”

Leena waited for a response before scurrying off to see that the team of rebels and Jedi support staff were prepared and the last massive loads of supplies were prepped for loading into the massive transports. There was enough supplies to undertake the beginnings of reconstruction of a world.

The next morning, Leena carried a satchel of clothing and personally selected medical supplies aboard the makeshift command ship. Smiling to the crew, she found a a sparse quarter out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the ship and plopped her bag on the floor before sitting down on the bunk. Looking about, she smiled and let out a nervous sigh. “Here we go again.”

Kirlocca smiled at Tobias. He had forgotten how much time had passed since the last had held a physical interaction. To know that he was able to read his own thoughts made him slightly more aware of the fact that he was not as locked in as he used to be. It would still take some more time to get acquainted with being alive again. But at least he had someone to help him, and provide some comfort in something he would have known if he were still apart of the Force. Now, he would have to find his own way again. Still with a smile, he reached out and accepted the lightsaber given to him by Tobias.

<< A spar would be very helpful in getting myself back into form. I am very thankful for you my friend. And beyond grateful that you found a way to help ease your mind when it races. >>

Turning ever so slightly, as now they both were greeted by Armiena. She seemed to be slightly out of breath, but also carried a weight of the mind within her. SHe had something she wanted to speak, to which she soon spoke of to him. He glanced over at Tobias, who had looked at best he could with his eyes scarred and held onto his cane. He then turned back to Armiena.

<< I of course will provide you with my full attention. At least as best as I can under the circumstances. >>

From his standpoint Vox began to understand more about this power. He didn't know whether he could access it again as Pim explained to him what an ability through this Force could be. Anc if he could detect life that would mean he could sense the presence of Vos approaching. And whoever else happened to accompany him.

As Pim walked away to the glass, Vox hadn't seen any doors open just yet. He was curious as to who else was coming along. He quickly collected his thoughts and watched as one of the doors suddenly opened. Walking in were three individuals, Vos himself, a woman and... a beast? Though the creature was garbed, Vox was surprised that other creatures like himself, and the Nudono War Pack, existed here. Vox watched intently, everything blurred out as his focus became the room before the pair.

"Likewise." I spoke in return as I shook the girl's webbed hand, an akward smile still upon my face. I was never any good with introductions and meeting new members of the Order. It always felt more of a formality than anything. Still, Leena seemed nice. "I know what you mean. After Corellia...." My mind wandered a bit back to my duel with the Sith and what followed, briefly turning my smile to a frown before I had to force the smile back into place as she rambled on. "Sure I would love to join you. It'll do me some good."

With that said, she left, leaving me alone in my thoughts once again, my mind turning to what tomorrow would bring just as Chandrila loomed on the horizon and why I would encounter as much as what I hoped not to. Turning around, I headed back to the medical ward to get my discharge papers before heading back to my quarters on the base. I wouldn't get much sleep that night, but that wasn't new. But this time the background of my dreams felt different somehow, the place unrecognizable where I fought Mordecai. Waking up in a cold sweat, I felt dazed and confused.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning was nothing out of the ordinary. I woke up and hit the refresher, got dressed, and gathered what little I had into my satchel before I walked to the door. Looking back on my bed, I gazed at the armor I had wore on Corellia, letting the scars I had obtained burn back into my memory before I departed. With that, I set out toward the shuttle headed for the command ship. A little while later, I stood aboard it within the hangar, confused about my direction. I had spent too much time on McShippy to even know anything about a ship this large. And I soon began a trek to absolutely nowhere.

Well, I say nowhere, but in truth, I went somewhere. For hours, I wandered around in obliviousness, lost in the maze that became this ship. I had no idea where I was going, but I hoped someone would eventually tell me. They didn't. And eventually, I left the life of the ship behind and stepped into it's deserted areas where few treaded. That was when I accidentally stumbled upon @Leena Kilagain, the girl settling herself in away from most of the crew. In truth, I almost past her up until I felt her familiar presence and looked in the open door. With a weak knock, I spoke. "You wouldn't happen to know where I'm bunking, do you? Never been aboard a ship this big."

Father…

Kyrie winced as she felt her father die, the sudden anguish exterminating the joy of victory, washing the confidence from her mind. Harjav Fieldgrey was gone, and with it her last living connection to the galaxy. The grief turned a key and something arose within her.

…Did you think we were truly gone, after all this time?

The Master of the Exorcists stared into the faces of her compatriots, pain overwhelming her vision with a dark veil. She could feel her flesh screaming as it knit itself together, the natural reaction to something infested with darkness to even the healing touch of the light.

…You cannot rid yourself of your shadow…

The Imperial Knight breathed out a hiss as the burns reversed themselves retaining their ghostly embers within her nerves. Shockwaves of pain washed up and across her body, but she redirected the expressing of it into a mask, a shy smile. The voices of her youth had returned, blending with that of the Krayt.

The Exorcist took a steadying breath and the colors of the world seemed to shift their tone. Amethyst eyes blinked and her probiscis flicked at the air, as if tasting for the first time.

She heard music.

The woman passed a scarred hand across her vision and bowed the Jedi apologetically and walked slowly to the shuttlecraft they would take to their next mission, slinging her longbow over her shoulder, a strange smile alighting her features.

Tobias handed her the secondary blade, the double hilt. It was a shorter hilt than most with three small grooves carved in a subtle helix fashion spiraled around the hilt.

"Splendid." A white toothed grin spread across his face. He had a joke for this... and almost said it before the mental filter caught it. He walked a few feet away from the pair. "Best be sure you're on the training setting. Theres a small switch and then you get a more glossy setting."

Setting the cane down in a corner, Tobias stretched his right leg out as he walked back to the other two in the room. Casually, he activated the single hilt and a waved it like a scythe in front of him, loosening up his right shoulder. Practicing a transition of Form Five, he settled into a hybrid of Form One; then waited for the others to make the first move. Kirlocca, he'd put money on making the first move- but Draygo seemed like she wanted to take both of them off guard... this was going to be most interesting.

Leena looked up with a smile at her fellow Jedi. “Uhhhh...I honestly don’t know. I think it is a sort of pick a bunk that is free sort of thing. You’re welcome to bunk across the way from me. I’d enjoy the company of a fellow Jedi. Maybe we can swap some stories or something? Most of mine are just in healing wards and field hospitals; but I bet you have had some adventures. It is nice to find another Jedi my own age to hang out with. Have you been a Jedi your whole life?” The girl rambled on, her inner warmth bubbling out cheerfully as she stood up to help her fellow find a room.

“Do you know if anyone else is coming with us? I mean there are lots of people; but anyone you know?”

Draygo accepted the hilt with a jerky nod. Her fingers played over the surface of the metal hilt in a quick familiarization with the weapon, running up and down the surface of the cool metal to find an ideal point of balance, feeling the grooved engravement that wrapped around its curvature. There was a bit more ornamentation than what this particularly pragmatic Jedi typically preferred in a weapon--she would have been perfectly content with high-grade durasteel and synthleather grips--but the purpose of this duel was conversation, not competition. She ignited the blade with the hilt held overhead in a double-handed stance, characteristic of Ataru, and noted with pleasure as a metallic hue entered the viridian blade with a flip of a switch.

“An indicator hue,” she said, her stance widening for what promised to be a leap towards a chosen target. “Interesting. We’ll need to...”

With a tremor of Force-assisted muscle power and a smile, Draygo leapt towards Kirlocca, the borrowed lightsaber in a flurry of motion. The slashes and shoves of her lightsaber were all noisy and visually pleasing to watch from the point of an unlearned spectator, but hardly technical and not truly threatening to an experienced duelist. But the veteran Jedi enjoyed the exertion and the joy was evident in her voice and face. “I’d like you to keep an eye on my Padawan. Genesis Stormhelm, the--eye patch, a bit unsure of himself during the briefing. He’s--” Draygo panted her way through a cadence of blows that was straight out of a beginner’s lightsaber kata. “Turning into a wonderful young man, but… Corellia was a horrible shock to him. I think he needs to make difficult decisions for himself, put in the hard work for himself, see… how very far he has come. The worst thing that I could do for him is to be watching over his shoulder every moment.”

At this point the flurry of predictable blows ended and Draygo paused, taking a step back to catch her breath. She had never been much for conversation during a lightsaber bout. “I expect that he’ll come through just fine and be better for it, but… I’ll worry the entire time. You understand?”

I briefly chuckled before I blushed akwardly. "My apologies. I don't mean to laugh, but your energy is quite refreshing." I spoke, realizing that my laughing hadn't been well times, except maybe in my own head, where depression still laid.

Looking across the hall, I saw an open quarters with a unclaimed cot. Both rooms were small, but I preferred it that way. Less of a mess when it came to my usual self. But then again, I had been living out of my satchel for quite some time now and never really had a bed to call my own.

I looked back at Leena. "Sure. Why not? It'll be more comfortable to have someone I know nearby to help me around this starship until I get my bearings." My face blushed again, but this time realizing that most of my stories were of war since joining the Order. Changing my thoughts, I finished. "I was actually a thief before joining the Order a few months ago. But I did help out the healers at Borleias."

“Wonderful,” Johanna piped up in the wake of the Jedi Master’s departure, having kept silent during what seemed to be a highly sensitive briefing. “For a moment I thought that Draygo was about to break opsec and release details to half the Rebel Alliance. Word travels fast around here--the bombmakers got news of Corellia only a couple minutes after the rest of us, and their workshop is a comms-dead zone. Speaking of which… I’ll meet you at the shuttle.”

At that very moment, the shock trooper remembered that she had left somewhere in the vicinity of a hundred kilos of gear scattered about headquarters. As Captain Bryce hoisted the ysalamir harness onto her shoulders, she set off at a slow jog and muttered an apology to the disturbed lizard. The shock trooper returned to the briefing room where she had dumped her gear and found, thankfully, that the ion pulse bomb and long-rifle that she had requisitioned were still in place and secured in the restricted zone.

Even burdened by a full combat-load of heavy weapons and a sizeable warhead, Bryce continued her slow jog to the headquarter’s landing pads. Bryce found an old, modified U-Wing support craft resting in a distant, restricted hangar. Despite the age of the craft--the shock trooper suspected that these ships were no longer even being manufactured--the landing struts and engine cowlings fairly gleamed with immaculate maintenance and it boasted a fresh matte paint job of desert tan. She passed a pair of speeder bikes and a small stash of surveying equipment as she boarded, and gratefully set down the ion pulse bomb and ysalamir harness in the cockpit. The shock trooper rested her sidearm on top of the harness--just in case it was necessary to kill the little reptile on short notice.

“Eleison, Sarna--I imagine that you’ve been prepped,” Bryce offered the two Jedi a sardonic smile as she returned to the rear of the transport. She tossed a miniature holoprojector to the floor, displaying a topographical map of their destination. “But we like our briefings in the military. The last time any of us have set foot on that planet is best described in historical terms. We know almost nothing as a result--current activity of the spacelanes or local ports, size or disposition of the local garrison, current activity of the Sith facilities. We grav-drop into the hinterlands, take surveys of the local fortifications. If all goes well we’ll be in and out without the Sith knowing we’re there… and if not we can always leave them our going-away present.”

Kirlocca hesitated for a moment as he felt the hilt of the lightsaber within his paw. He didn't much look up at the Grandmaster at first, as he was attempting to let a mix of his own memory and the Force to bring him back everything that he knew by second nature of his prior skills. As he activated it with the all too familiar snap-hiss, the Wookiee admired the orange hue of the blade. His first lightsaber ever was yellow in color, but this blood orange blade felt somewhat fitting for him on this go around in life. He carefully held it as he looked up at Draygo and could feel himself starting to drop back into his old form, Wru'torr. She fell into Ataru's natural stance. The viridian blade of hers and the blood orange of his own provided the room with a distinct glow. It didn't take her long before she sprang into action, a move which caught him slightly off guard, but wouldn't have normally. But such circumstances proved to him that he needed it.

She began to strike in a flurry, although nothing serious, but enough for him to be pushed back on the defensive side and to have to regain his own stance a bit. He focused upon where she was moving within the Force, as it allowed for him to regain his old precognition skills that allowed for him to know where he always needed to have his lightsaber blade. It was slowly coming back, so he instead choose to embrace the chaotic nature of the duel to help him with his reflexes at the very least. As he attempted to fall into the rhythm of the movements, he began to listen to what the Grandmaster was telling him. As she talked, she struggled with her breathing. He doubted it was from a position that he was in of not being used to it, but rather that she was run down from her recent mission and then having to be thrust into more work. He knew that such words to be given back were far better off for him to wait, as his words would get lost in the sounds of the spar. When she finished, or at least paused, Kirlocca wondered for a single moment if he should press her to keep her up to maintain skill in this spar, but decided that if he were in her shoes, he would welcome the acknowledgement and end the spar. So he stepped backwards as she finished with both her words and relaxed her stance and gave her a famous salute from the Makashi form and then lowered and turned off the lightsaber his friend Tobias gave to him.

<< I will of course keep an eye out on him. You have no need to worry. I will go and be with him now. >>

Kirlocca then bowed to Armiena and offered her up a smile. He then turned and gave Tobias a slight nod of the head as well, doing so as he clipped the lightsaber hilt his friend gave him. There was no words offered up to him, as he was sure his look said it all. I'll see you when I return. With the look and the pleasantries made, he turned and began to move towards the hangar. As he arrived, he found his own way on the ship, making it known within the Force that he had arrived.

Leena raised an eyebrow as she smiled at the Jedi apprentice. Laughter was a welcome commodity nowadays it seemed.

Suddenly, Leena paused; her mouth hanging slightly agape as she felt the presence of the former Grandmaster wash through the area. She had not known the Wookiee very personally; but she had been a Jedi since her childhood and had seen him from afar several times. She had mourned the Grandmaster’s death and had doubted the rumors of his return. Yet, now she felt it. “Interesting . . .”

—————————————

Leena stayed with Genesis whilst he got settled and as final preperations were made. Eventually she wandered off to check on the stores of medical supply and aid that she would be taking charge of once they got planetside. A rescue fleet was going to meet the Jedi at Chandrila and efforts were going to extended to help bring the world back to it’s serene peaceful existence. It was a massive undertaking, but Leena knew it was the most Jedi thing the Jedi had done in some time.

Soon enough, the rumble of the ships engines growled in the background and the Jedi aid was on it’s way.
