Background: Jackson Bloome was born on the lower-middle levels of Coruscant, when a local mechanic overstepped his boundaries a little with a dancer (and more) at one of the many shady clubs in his area of operation. Skip ahead nine months, some drama, and a lot of overtime on the part of Bloome senior, and Jackson was unceremoniously dumped into a world of desperation, drugs, dancers, and crime-a-plenty.

Over the course of his childhood Jackson was raised primarily by his father who, with few other choices aside from leaving the boy alone at home, took him along on various repair and maintenance jobs. As a more or less independant worker in the depths of Coruscant's sprawling megacity, most of the jobs available ranged from simple tune-ups of speeders and ships, to retrofitting old industrial machinery, to scrubbing credits and blasters for small time gangs.

Because of this variety of operations, and Jackson's determination to earn his own keep, the boy quickly matured and began to pick up on a few of the 'tricks of the trade' that his father used. Bloome senior wasn't a particularly prolific slicer, but getting around ancient doors and bypassing rogue security units was a necessity for some of the larger, less-shady jobs that he took. A little bit of knowledge in how to get through old security barriers was greatly useful, even life-saving on occasion, though neither Jackson nor his father had the resources to take it beyond being mildly useful.

In addition, simple maintenance and light construction or assembly was particularly common. No one could possibly know how to take apart a blaster with hand tools to clean out the chamber or replace a focusing lens on their first try, but given hundreds of opportunities to practice over the span of several years, and even the most technologically inept would have it down-pat. The same could be said of speeders, communicators, and even datapads. On the poverty-ridden lower levels of Coruscant these items might be a rare and treasured commodity, sure, but they did pass through on occasion.

Unfortunately, Bloome senior's age began to catch up with him. He was no longer quite the man that he used to be, with several pressing medical issues and many more doubtlessly hidden beneath them. None of this stopped him from trying to keep up however, and ultimately that is what cost him his life. Bloome senior was on his own in the underbelly of the city when a long-corroded section of industrial piping broke free, and without the youth and/or reflexes to evade the object as it barreled towards him the man was partially crushed, unable to even call for help as his life quickly slipped out of his grasp.

Now, with no other family ties to hold him down, Jackson has decided to leave the roost. He armed himself with the tools left to him from his father, and a few more courtesy of some saved up rainy-day funds, and made his way to the upper levels of the city to find his way in the Galaxy. He just needs to get off Coruscant, first. Somehow.

Having taken a few-year-long journey to develop his skills and see the galaxy, Jackson finally returns to the fold a changed man. For better or worse remains to be seen, but a few things can be immediately presumed when analyzing him in comparison to his old self.

His confidence has risen, first and foremost. Where he once stood nervously, anxious and unsure, he now rests poised and ready for what may come; relaxed, yet primed.

Jackson's body has filled out under his clothing in a testament to a hard-lived life out in the rim, and a litany of new scars and faded wounds tell stories and tales of battle and hard-won victory.

Even his saber has changed, given that he had one prior to his walkabout. A simple hilt with a wreath of stun-baton contacts around the emitter has undergone a dramatic transformation into an elegantly rugged pole, perhaps two feet long, with a simple set of controls and two emitters. A modified double-blade, from the looks of it, and oddly-placed features that whisper of field-modifications and hastily-made corrections.
His form with it has advanced by leaps and bounds as well, apparently by mixing different forms of Form Six together with Tràkata and whatever else happens to be most convenient at any given moment. Not standard or conventional, but highly aggressive and geared towards ending fights quickly.

More significantly, however, was the man himself. His uncertainty and inexperience had all but left, replaced by some amount of wisdom and hardened by a wealth of new experiences, both good and bad. No longer the trusting boy who crawled his way out of the Coruscant undercity, but.. something else. Not quite predatory exactly, or at least not traditionally, but similar enough to pass for it at first glance. His insatiable lust for knowledge and improvement being some of the few things that remain unchanged.

At some point he has also procured his own ship. It is a Wayfarer-class medium transport with a surprisingly cherry setup, though he has installed an additional pair of security measures inside of the cargo module. Namely, a quad laser cannon and tractor beam mounted behind some clearly repurposed barricades. Likely rigged together and slapped in place by Jackson himself.
