The Goblin and the Ghoul (poem, challenge response)

I loved her

The very moment I saw her

It was a strange feeling

As if my heart was alive again

 

She's got a smile that it seems to me

Reminds me of childhood memory

Where everything was a precious

Bright blue sky

 

It was a strange union

The goblin and the ghoul

Neither beautiful

But both lonely.

 

Now and then when I see her face

She takes me away to that special place

And if I stare too long

I'll probably break down and cry

 

It wasn't until the end

When all hope had gone

That I looked into her eyes

And saw the truth.

 

She's got eyes of the bluest skies

As if they thought of rain

I'd hate to look into those eyes

And see an ounce of pain.

 

I reached out to her

Kneeling down beside her body

I longed to bury my head in her hair

And weep against her chest.

 

Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place

Where as a child I'd hide

And pray for the thunder and the rain

To quietly pass me by

 

It was wrong, all wrong

They had no reason to kill her

All she did was her duty

And now she is going, slipping away

 

Whoa, sweet child of mine”¦

 

My heart, once vibrant

And so alive is now dead

The love of my afterlife is gone

And I can't even hold her.

Where do I go from here?

I wish I could die again

But even that comfort is denied me

I will never rejoin her

 

Where do we go?

Where do we go now?

 

Oh my beautiful monster

You were my everything

You gave me purpose

But now I am lost again.
