Lord Ar-Pharazon Posted January 22, 2010 Share Posted January 22, 2010 This is a story that I thought about writing a few weeks ago, but due to a vacation and working on my fanfic, plus a busy schedule, I simply didn't get to it then. But, the way I see it, better late than never, right? This story is inspired by a favorite Christmas movie of mine, which you're probably familiar with too. This story takes place online actually. It sounds weird, but just go with it. Instead of trying to awkwardly describe that I'm on AOL Instant Messenger, I'll just tell you that now. The AIM names have been changed, to protect the innocent. *Signs on to AOL Instant Messenger* *New Window Pops Up* Kheldar1998 (2:12 am): Hey Ben, how are you doing? PrinceAP (2:12 am): Hey Rob. Not bad. Just killing time because I can't sleep. Kheldar1998 (2:12 am): That sux. I can tell you're bored. You've posted over 50 times in the last 40 minutes. Those are Sasori numbers. PrinceAP (2:12 am): Ughh. . . They are, aren't they? I'm just so damn bored. And even though I'm making threads left and right, posting on this site seems like such a waste of time. I'm just getting too tired of the debates, the hassles, dealing with annoying people, and all of that stuff. Kheldar1998 (2:13 am): Ah. Well, everyone goes through dry spells. PrinceAP (2:13 am): Even being a mod, it's still boring. Kheldar1998 (2:13 am): Yeah. Keep that in mind too. It doesn't look good when mods spam the board. It's all magical weapons now, created by mecha-chaos-gods or some nonsense. PrinceAP (4:35): How did this happen? FB129898 (4:35 am): It's simple. KVC was never there to stop it. Remember? You brought him to the site. Besides, before the current mod, Lightsider was the mod. He managed to suck all the fun away from Star Wars RPing. Remember that guy? Plus, you weren't around back in 2002, to antagonize him into flaming you, which got him removed as an RP mod. PrinceAP (4:36 am): Wow, I didn't think it was even a big deal. I forgot about him. He was awful. The RP must be really bad, with what he did and with what's there now. FB129898 (4:37 am): It's awful. RP only gets a post or two each week. Slower than ever. The admins will probably scrap it before long. It's almost impossible for someone new. There are over 25 stickied threads of rules. And the posts are all small and uninspired. Varesyne was the first RPer to writer really long, detailed posts. He got the ball rolling on that. But, you brought him to the site, didn't you? PrinceAP (4:37 am): Wow”¦ I did. It just got so boring. Amidala Skywalker and Tiana hung on until the end, but a forum of two people didn't really make it worth it. Remember, you used to bug Tiana about writing last year? That actually kept her interested in things. Without that, she posted much less and the forum didn't stay energized. After being removed as a mod, she left the site. Even thought a lot of what you posted is over the top, it kept things exciting. It added greatly to the activity. PrinceAP (4:41 am): Wow, I never thought I would actually help the Fanfic forum. Keep in mind, that many of his blow-ups were because of his intolerant reactions to your political and religious views. With you not around, he was able to fly under the radar. The admins entrusted him with the Community. He belittles and he locks threads more often than a 2006 era Stephen. Now, the admins are afraid to remove him, for fear of his retaliation. By just you being you, you kept him in check, and pointed the spotlight onto more of his more subtle demeaning comments. Plus, KVC and you weren't here to debate and counter him. This was a great story Ben. the format is fun, like previously said, but I also love "it's a wonderful life" and turning that into a Jnet sotry was fantastic. This was really enjoyable.
