Fondor

Lord Ar-Pharazon

Recommended Posts

A massive courtyard, covered in an enormous synthetic dome comprised the center of the administrative compound on Fondor. Atop the dome was featured the emblem of the Black Sun. A long, high scaffold stood in the middle of the yard. Three Rodian women and over a dozen Bothan men filled every space, hands and feet bound, nooses snug around their necks, with dingy sacks covering each worry-stricken face. Some wept piteously; most were only terrified. The man called Josef, hailed from Coruscant. He was a staunchly racist character, and a loyal agent of the Black Sun, fully tenured and deemed highly reliable in making problems disappear. His new assistant was a young Corellian named Boris, a lad eager to see the giant starships constructed in the shipyards of Fondor. He was fascinated with space-faring battle ships. He always had been. Josef was fascinated with cashing Black Sun checks, as he had for years, and even more entranced with persecuting foreign races in the name of Smash Daisaku and his corporate crusades, and capitalism, and zealous greed, and a love of power. Few ways were finer for exercising zealous militant power than ethnic cleansing and racial persecution. Boris was new to such fierce things. He still had his youth; his innocence.

Reemerging from Hyperspace only hours after entering it, the Silver Eagle touched down in the space station's hangar. As if he'd summoned them, a crew consisting of eight men and women wearing jumpsuits stood by while Sol ran through the all too-familiar post-flight checks. Once he was finished, he abandoned ship and was immediately met by one of the crew members. She gave him a succinct, yet respectful nod and waved a hand towards his ship.

”œDo you require refueling, sir?”

"...sir?"

Sol's grip on his sparring partner didn't falter. He held the brute of a Twi'lek three feet off of the ground. It was obvious he was angry that his training session had been interrupted, but nonetheless, he responded to the agent.

"What is it?"

The agent stood there, catching site of his comrade in the steward's grip. Unbeknownst to him, Sol had no intention of inflicting serious harm onto this man. Still, his hold around the man's throat remained.

"L-Lord Daisaku requests that you meet him at the Citadel, sir," he said uneasily. "H-He says he has much to discuss with you."

"Very well."

He released the Twi'lek, who had been clawing at his unbreakable arm. The alien fell to the floor, gasping for breath. He looked up at Sol with a grin, who helped him to his feet.

"You're getting better, Loram," he said, brushing his friend's shoulder off..

The Twi'lek nodded.

"Thank you, Lord Kadav," he replied, staying behind in the sparring chamber as Sol went on ahead to the turbolift. "Have a safe journey!"

---

Minutes later, the Silver Eagle left the space station's hangar, its coordinates set for the Black Sun Citadel on Coruscant. Only seconds after that, it entered the star-streaked void of hyperspace.

There was a slight hiss as the decompressed air of landing sunk its way into the audible spectrum, and with it my feet out of the ship's side door.

It took me mere moments to compose myself, but within just that time I managed to look like I was minding my own P's and Q's. I managed to land an unmarked shuttle into the main hangar bay of the Fondor space station, which in and of itself might not have been a big feat, but I seemed incredibly glib to do the entire thing without authorization. The act was so cavalier, but underneath my pale skin, emotions were running wild as was obvious by the avid chatter running through my mind. I tried to do my best to silence the clutter, but my excitement only intensified the voices. My silver hair was doing its best to stand on end as my anticipation mounted and I almost cemented the door guard's carcass to the ground when he held me up, asking for ID. I gave him my Black Sun badge anyway, using my best stony glare to press him to the wall, but that was only after letting him know that I could've pounded his ass into the durasteel floor.

It was a small threat, but one I could tell stuck with the Bothan as he let out a small yelp and opened the door for me. I chuckled slightly as the meaningless force of mental violence held in the air when I left, but my interest was hardly sated as I moved slowly about the large cavernous facility and away from my prey.

It was at that point though, standing feet away from the door guard, that I realized it had been a while since I'd been back at the Fondor base. Sol's office had been rather familiar and easy to find, for certain reasons that other employees weren't allowed to disclose under threat of death, but it didn't mean it was easy to find...

"Shit... Where is Sohy..." I cooed lightly as a few passersby giggled into their hands. The small sounds weren't hard to hear and as if my head caught fire, I I turned my gaze slowly to meet theirs and pursed sharp daggers into their expressions, through my deep Indigo eyes, which melted their humorous resolve and led them swiftly away from my company. "You see? That is why you don't have any friends" I said to myself with an ironic smile that showed exactly how much I didn't care about the by-standard's feelings.

+++___+++___+++

After about an hour of searching, I was on the brink of giving up. Sweat matted my hair and heavy gasps laid under the pace of my feet, but with the turn of a 'T' intersection, I neared what looked to be a large sign that managed to point me in the right direction. It was crisp upon the still air of the controlled environment, but I viewed it as a sign from an ill-be-gotten deity.

Sheesh 6 miles of station and not one successful sign... You think people would get lost in here or something. Then I noticed something large and silver, moving on the side of the hall that looked like a sliding sidewalk. Damnit... I cursed to myself as my aching feet gripped the moving floor panels that took me all the way to Sol's office.

If only I had thought of that sooner, I cursed once more as my hand hesitated at the security door before my own husband's office.

My feelings for him both benign and ludicrously active were weaving around my tongue, strangling the words from my mouth even before I could open the door and talk to him. I was mortified by the gracious and lustrous greed that poured from my heart to a phantom Sol on the other side of the door, but I somehow accepted the crude gestures as a second nature now. The other side of me, the one that associated itself with terror and killing looked back at the metamorphosis that had occurred over the past few years and glared apprehensively to no effect. What am I now?

Then, without further hesitation, I reached for the security panel, which accepted my DNA signature and went up to the office to greet my hubby.

Time deemed an unnecessary factor when you were a parent of twin newborns. What Sol found interesting, though, was the near-synchronized schedule of Sabian and Serena. It was almost as if they could communicate with one another, a feat which seemed impossible, yet all the more interesting. Never once did he leave the nursery. When a couple of nosy pirates had careened a path through the station's defenses - which had happened in the past -, Sol was nowhere to be found. Normally he would be on the control bridge, watching from a towering view port as they were blown to bits. Not today. When his comlink buzzed for the fifth time, he shifted Serena into his left arm along with her brother and used his right hand to handle the device.

"Lord Kadav? Where-"

"With my children," he replied bitterly, afraid that yelling at the nerfherder on the other hand would initiate fits of crying and confused cooing. "Unless we are under attack, Lieutenant, then do not call me again. Do we have an understanding?"

"Yes sir. I apolo-"

Click.

He set the comlink back down onto the table. Pushing the thought of dismembering Lieutenant Alar from his mind, Sol steadily rose to his feet. Serena - who, unlike her brother, was shrouded in a bright pink blanket - had fallen asleep. Sabian - wrapped in a blue one - was still awake, but watching him with large, curious eyes. It almost seemed like he was trying to decipher the conversation between his father and the voice on the comlink, an assimilation that greatly amused the cyborg.

Placing a gentle kiss against his son's forehead, he walked over to the crib and placed his children inside of it. He'd read in the parenting book Anilara had purchased for them that it was a great hazard to put anything inside of an infant's crib. Even accompanying a baby with blankets and stuffed animals was dangerous. So, to avoid the risk of anything happening to either of them, the twins' mattress, while comfortable, was bare.

Just as he turned around to go and sit down again, the nursery door slid open with an automatic hiss. He narrowed his eyes, believing it to be one of the crewmen. But to his relief - and utter ecstasy - it was Ani.

Glancing one last time into the crib - satisfied to see that Sabian's eyes had closed as well -, Sol approached Anilara and enveloped her in his arms.

"I just put them down," he whispered, setting a hand against his wife's cheek. He wasn't sure how long it had been since they'd seen each other last, but it felt like an eternity.

"Did you have a safe trip here?"

OOC: This post is a revamped version of an earlier one in this thread.

A massive courtyard, larger than most cities, covered in an enormous dome that comprised the majestic center of the Black Sun administrative district on Fondor. Atop the dome was featured the emblem of the Black Sun. A long, high scaffold stood in the middle of the yard. Three human women and over a dozen men filled the allotted spaces, with their ruined hands and tired feet bound, nooses snug around their worthless necks, with dingy, filth-caked sacks covering each worry-stricken face. Some wept piteously; most were only terrified, but all knew that death was on its way. The evil man who was called Avaraxus III, hailed from the bowels of Coruscant. His face was covered with an evil black mask, in order that he could breathe. His red eyes seemed to glow brighter as he was murdering. His lungs had been scarred from drugs. He was a staunchly racist assassin, who had engineered the deaths of millions and a loyal murderer of Smash Daisaku's Black Sun, fully tenured in making problems disappear. His new assistant was a young Corellian named Baalus, a once excited lad, eager to see the giant starships constructed in the shipyards of Fondor. Now all he cared about was killing. He was still fascinated with space-faring battle ships. He always had been. Now, Baalus was more fascinated with cashing Black Sun checks, and even more entranced with persecuting foreign races in the name of Smash Daisaku and his corporate crusades, and capitalism, and zealous greed, and a love for execution. Few ways were finer for exercising zealous militant power than ethnic cleansing and racial persecution. Baalus was new to such fierce things. He still had his wicked youth and great lust.

The armored being behind the control slipped out of hyperspace far outside of normal sensor range. Normal by the standards most planets employed and considered their 'airspace' so to speak. He was a fan of leaving few to no traces of where he went as well as how he got there, and this would be no exception, at least initially. He spent the majority of his approach time doubled checking his facts on fondor.

It was always good to be refreshed on the information about a world before you arrived in his mind. So far he had people simply on the look out or perhaps a better word would be scouring for any hint of the leads he had found so far. This was simply another world on a long list of those he felt the need to check.

It wouldn't be too hard, it wasn't as if he was tracking a stealthy fellow. He would simply ask a few questions of the people of Fondor, avoid trouble, and see if he could get a log of recent visitors. With luck the journey would end here. Otherwise he already knew the next stop on his list. Soon the world came into view, and he found himself suprising the trafficd controllers by changing his mind and announcing himself.

He got a bit of back talk from the two AI, but since he was manually controlling the hsip, he let them both be on the look out for threats. Activley searching and hunting for them. With any luck he could simply stay in orbit, complete his search and either find what he was looking for and move on.

He spent three and a half days mired in his work. There were references and a simple massive amount of information that need to be sorted through and checked. Still after three days of observations, requests and simple picture taking, he had come to the conclusion, that he would gain no further information here.

Moments later he was going to close his eyes for the first time in days as his pilot took him to the next destination.

A small ship exited Hyperspace, aboard a small R3 unit designated as R3-M0 or Remo for those who knew him. His mission was a simple one, but discrepancy was the key. Remo held in his possession the drafts and drawing of a specialize ship created for the sole purpose of rebirthing the Black Sun. As the ship touched down, R3-M0 activated, his memory and circuitry coming alive with the utmost haste.

"Project Titan"

Designation: Titan

Type: Star Liner

Class: MPO-1500a

Length: 610 m

Crew: 135

Passengers: 675

Armament: 8 twin blaster cannons

Description:

A new design by Chandrilla, made specifically for Black Sun, the Chandrilan Class II starship is the top of its class when it comes to luxury liners. The cruise liner features top line staterooms for costumers to stay in along with a personal service droid in each stateroom. The liner offers up unique places for any guest to feel welcomed, all of which includes 12 different dining options, including 4 main dining halls, 8 cantinas, five grand floors of casino options and 3 theaters for entertainment pleasure. There are also 3 unique spas onboard along with 2 game centers and 3 libraries of holodramas. There is also a meeting room for anyone looking to combine work and pleasure. It is also equipped with 5 Sienar-Chall Utilipede transports for guests to travel to planet side for an excursion on their trip.

The ship also has special accommodations for Black Sun, which includes a private hangar that can house up to 4 freighter size ships and private staterooms for up to 7 Vigos to stay onboard the ship at any given time. There is also a personal meeting room for them alone, and a personal office space/stateroom for Zalis.

With little notice of the droid's presence, Remo went about his work unnoticed. After hacking into the mainframe of Fondor's ship yard, the plans were uploaded, credits deposited from an unknown source, and little trail of his work was left in his wake. Once completed, Remo returned to the ship he arrived on and departed Fondor. His mission, however minuscule, was done here. The ship would be ready in two weeks, just enough time for Zalis to prepare herself.

Akin to a beautiful storm, or perhaps a tidal hurricane, the Royal Hapan Expeditionary Force emerged from hyperspace near the Fondor Shipyards. Every hull and keel was painted in the white emerald of the Hapan royal house of Esterhazy. They were long claimants to the titles of the Consortium, and after decades of spite from the Queen Mother, the house of Esterhazy was now in full schism. They had joined the Rebellion in self imposed exile and were now in the first fleet.

It had been their honour to fight beside the throneless Empress. And now it would be their honour to fight the Sith Lords of Onderon. The trio of Battle Dragons ignited their sublight propulsion drives as their turbolasers spooled up, rotating towards their port side and the Sith weapon emplacements.

“COMSAT officers, prepare a message to the Rebel Admirals informing them that we are on time and on location for them. Helm, bring us alongside the shipyards and prepare a volley in case they resist us.”

Alone in his darkened stateroom, Slaughter breathed in and out in a measured cadence. He tried to not focus on the aching in his knees and legs from sitting on an unpadded floor for a few hours. His mind occasionally drifted to the usual anxieties; the knowledge that, no matter how well this day went, thousands of sapients would be sent to their deaths; the tenuous ties of the coalesced factions that comprised the Rebel Alliance; occasionally drifting towards the battle plan and the routes of attack to the orbital shipyards. That was fine. He knew the plan and the mathematics and the tonnage of fuel that each contingency would require; it was impossible to stop his mind from occasionally dwelling on that.

What he did not know was how fiercely the Sith would fight to defend this system. The system’s garrison would likely be substantial; might even include some newly-built Golans. What he could not know was how motivated they would be to fight. Would they risk devastating their world’s economy by risking engagement near the shipyards? Would they attempt to scuttle them?

His eyes closed and sitting on a thin mat, Admiral Slaughter continually wrestled his mind away from what he could not know and back to the simple cadence of his breath. In any minute, his Ugnaught yeoman would soon--

“Admiral. Fifteen minutes before reversion.”

“Thank you, Gnugga.” In an instant, the middle-aged Admiral’s eyes snapped open and he rose to his feet with surprising alacrity for a man his age and weight. “Have caf and water waiting on the bridge. I’ll be there in five.”

____

Three minutes later, the Admiral strode onto the bridge of Fidelity, thoughtlessly returning a sentry’s salute. The proffered caf was guzzled in mere seconds, the Admiral ignoring the peculiar chemical taste that infested every mess hall in the Alliance. Liquid energy was what he needed, not a sad attempt at the blunt-force weapon flavor of proper navy-grade caf. The tactical pit in the center of the bridge was already displaying a hologram of their destination. Admiral Slaughter paced around the star and its smattering of planets, checking one last time for any detail he might have missed--an unusually large planetoid, a dense cluster of asteroids. It was nearly ten minutes before his reverie was interrupted.

“It’s Fondor, sir. Chrystin’s from there,” his Twi’lek XO nodded towards the weapons terminals.

That was one of the few shipyards in the galaxy capable of building Star Dreadnoughts. That certainly complicated matters. However, he had little chance to dwell on how critical this objective would be to the war effort, for the last thirty seconds of the hyperspace jump were counted down and the swirling blue of hyperspace were replaced by the inky starfield of realspace, marred only by the steely shapes of his ships and the glow of their sublights.

“Signal jump complete. Launch alert fighters and prep the rest of the complement. Continue the approach, no signals to Fondor. Let’s see what they’re thinking.”

The Xaakzaamheid erupted into realspace, surrounded by the ragtag support fleet that the Kry’tsad had assembled to assist the Rebellion’s assault on Fondor. At the helm of the Neo-Kandosii Battleship was Balorik Ha’Gar, a battle-hardened veteran of the crusades and the civil war on Mandalore. His leader, Mandalore the Bloody was on her Bes’uliik amongst the waves of starfighters that weaved and crossed about the combined fleet. Terra keyed her commlink, her gravelly voice ripping through the combined arms channel

“Admiral Slaughter, we fought against each other above Coruscant and on countless battlefronts before then, but now we are in allegiance. I will take the war to the ground, my fleet will support you.”

With that, the Mandalorian dug her knees into Hades’ back, driving the metallic beast towards the world of Fondor, supported by her hand-picked fireteam. She keyed up as gravity began to buffet her. Troop carriers filled with Mandalorian Assault Teams began to enter atmosphere.

“I will hunt for the enemy’s commanders and cut the head from the viper.”

Dropping out of hyperspace, the sleek body of a hapan Nova-class battle cruiser stood silhouetted against the green of the planet below. Our Velvet Ire it proclaimed in soft, red lettering along the side. Immediately upon entering real-space, scramblers activated and the ship fuzzed out of the view of scanners.

Following it, an eclectic cluster of ships dropped into the system piecemeal. The two Thranta-class corvettes stood in stark contrast to the smoother lines of the MC30c frigates, and completing the formation was the massive Lucrehulk Control Core Eye of Opulence, scarred and patched in dozens of places and spilling antique and refurbished droid fighters alike into the starfield.

Commander Jaden Jorus looked out the viewport of the Eye of Opulence, grimacing as the incessant clanking of droids sounded a never ending cacophony of conflicting rhythms around him. It made him nostalgic for the unending hymns of the crew of the Black Bracer.

"Where's the big one?" Jorus asked, directing his question to no one in particular.

A pilot droid responded as it walked by, linked to the Core's central computer like every other droid on the ship.

"Final ship will be exiting hyperspace in 7 sec-"

The droid was interrupted as the viewport's view of the stars was suddenly and completed blocked by a massive wall of metal. The MC80a Star Cruiser The Prodigious had been built as a luxury vessel, and the huge ship still boasted many of the unique, artistic aesthetics that Mon Calamari engineers had no doubt poured days of their lives into designing. The effect of the silvery hull was rather marred by the heavy, black armor plating coating the ship's nose.

"Prodigious, take point on formation, await further orders."

"Yes commander," a warbly voice growled back at him. Quarren as a rule were hostile, but this death row convict Nok had pulled out of Dac City Penitentiary, oozed malice with every garbled word.

I suppose if you want a captain willing to literally run his ship into someone else...

The 237th defensive response armada exited hyperspace, joining its brothers and sisters in arms in the defense of Fondor from the rebel terrorists. The Myrmidon began spewing out clouds of TIE Hunters, while Catastrophic Oracle and Wayward Serpent moved into attack positions.

Green Advanced Warfighter Cadre (Cruiser, one frigate, four corvettes, 1 XP) Catastrophic Oracle

The Promised Razor is an Insidiator class Xian'tii cruiser using state of the art components seized from the Mon Calamari shipyards. Its captain, a man of Onderonian stock, is said to consort with necromancers who provide him with grim auguries. Rumors abound of a significant portion of the crew being undead raised from crew lost at Corellia.

The Lamia, an Ardent class frigate, and the Vigil class corvettes Cassandra, Sibyl, Egeria, and Pythia serve as support vessels providing cover from enemy fast movers.

Green Tactical Support Escort (Cruiser, one frigate, four corvettes, 1 XP) Wayward Serpent

The Temple of Vipers is a Gladiator class imperial cruiser whose command crew was handpicked by Karalynn Ladrimayne from her former academy classmates while she was in recovery from wounds suffered at Corellia. The officers are hungry and eager to prove themselves, especially after the standard that Ladrimayne set in her first battle.

The Coiled Hatred, an Ardent class frigate, and the Raider class corvettes Nidhoggr, Moin, Goin, and Svafnir offer antifighter support.

Green Precision Strike Carrier (Capital ship, 1 XP) Unforgiving Rebuke

The Myrmidon is an Impellor class carrier crewed by clones from the recently restored Kamino cloning facilities. The ship's hangar bays are primarily occupied by slews of TIE Hunters carrying heavy ordnance. Sith commanders are hoping that swarm tactics will allow more successful contact than slow moving bombers that are often picked off by the more agile rebel craft. The ship is currently playing host to a team of Imperial cloning science officers who are evaluating clone performance. The Myrmidon's captain is a falleen specifically selected for a low empathy rating due to expected pilot losses.

The orchestra of battle drew alive with each second. Warships spewed quickly from the black of space, dangerously organized in masses of dreadful firepower. The Fondorians native to the planet understood that the anarchist rebellion would surface soon, as their treasonous campaign had unraveled predictably. It was still surreal to them, to see so much death across the holo-networks, just as the Imperials had wrestled order and justice from the indolent hands that had held them falsely before.

The trembling power of the fear-wrought Dreadnought Goliath, and the herculean Gladiator-Class Minotaur, brushed through the footbridge of hyperspace with something to say about such sacrilege. Accompanying the formation was a hungry host of fighters and an infamous Star Destroyer that had not appeared since the fall of Master Qaela. The Herløv, dressed in full glory alongside the forward command, roamed supremely onto the scene.

“The Emperor would have us remove this scum.

What say you, brothers and sisters of the Imperial High?

Let us show them the consequences of their treachery.”

The voice purred cooly, swimming through the command channels, coercing his allies to dangerous ambition. Formations settled sure-footedly, as was the way of with Imperial discipline and efficiency. Their punishment would be swift.

“Now what did I say? The cowards would show themselves at the end.” Captain Esterhazy leaned against the white railing which surrounded the upper command deck from the lower command deck and let her pale eyes drink in the displays below her. Turbolasers were firing at a speed comparable to the galactic turbolaser standard, though their navy had lacked fast charging turbolasers some decades before, the might Battle Dragons had gone through extensive refits at the end of the last galactic war. And now the old ships were truly in their prime. Their pearl white hulls glistening in the distant starlight.

“Cross the T helm. Cross the T. Keep us in formation. If the situation changes we will respond in kind. Now…” She pulled out the archaic pocket chronometer and clicked its timer. “Lets see how fast our rolling broadsides really are…”

So there was an active garrison present at Fondor, it quickly became apparent, including that damned Sith flagship Goliath. The muscles at Admiral’s jaws bunched up and gritted; undoubtedly that irritating Dreadnought had been redeployed to Fondor for repairs and refitting after the thrashing it had received at Corellia; the same was likely for the other veterans of that ruinous campaign. This was going to be a difficult battle--the two fleets were nearly equally matched, though Slaughter’s faith in his experienced crew of Galactic Alliance veterans was supreme.

“Ahead flank, shields front. Track their targeting vectors, adjust course to intercept. Let’s see if we can draw some of their fire, buy time for our friends to pummel them into submission.” The canopy around Fidelity’s bridge gained a faint blue hue as the ship’s sublight engines burned with an extraordinary brightness that indicated that they were operating beyond safe limits. “Launch the alert bombers.”

“Sir! Sensors--sublight emissions suggest stealth cruisers, not sure where they are.”

His meaty hands balled into reddened fists. Something was out there that their sensors couldn’t quite detect--but the emissions of sublight engines never lied. Even the cleanest-burning drives with the purest isotopes left some trace of exhaust. Detecting the hull, however, was an entirely different matter…

“Cloakers…” He harrumphed. “Now they're standard-issue. Wonderful. What a fascinating, modern age we live in. Alert gunnery crews; they may fire when ready.”

A number of fighters managed to make it through the interceptor screen thrown up by Benediction. Torpedoes hammered Fidelity's shields, lighting the bridge in fiery red but failing to penetrate the stubborn old cruiser's shields. Slaughter glanced away from the holographic pit just in time to catch the sublight glow of a flight of A-Wings, spitting laser fire in the wake of the TIEs. Two of the Mandalorian vessels were caught under the guns of Herlov and were disabled, likely to be total casualties unless a support tug managed to recover the vessels--an unlikely proposition in the middle of a battle..

The Admiral's reaction was to clear his throat and issue updated vectors for the fleet's maneuvers.

Zloth'cal'duorii stopped his sip cold. He felt the hairs on his neck begin to stand up, curious to the particulars of the scene laid out before him; Rebel Alliance curs mating with the nefarious Crusaders. One force had blatantly sidestepped their duty to protect, while the other force snuck into Coruscant like rats and plundered the innocent. The two had found marriage, and emboldened their honeymooning by declaring for Fondors' ship-assembling operations.

Zloth'cal'duorii emerged from his office and toward the set of stairs that would bring him to the first level. When he spoke aloud, it was with the diluted accent of someone who'd been speaking their second language far longer than the one in which they were born with. "FleetCom, send to all active ships to prepare for Contingency Amber, the Fondorions will bolster our ranks."

"Yes Admiral," a Lieutenant at the primary communications section answered, relaying orders to his enlisted subordinates to begin transmitting orders. As the order was sent, the system processed the newly-received report from the listening post and plotted the approximate location of the Rebel-Crusader force on the holo-map. Heavy fire belted across smaller task groups within the theater of war, but the Imperial Forces knitted tightly in formation, exuding supernatural poise. Clusters of TIE variants strangled the airspace, braiding their spatial patterns between wreckage and large masses of warships. Zloth'cal'duorii was silent, staring intently at the glowing Sith-Imperial symbol in the depth of the holographic map. "Pay attention to your stations," he said in firm, deliberate tones. "Show no mercy."

Hades wove through the storm of battle, whirling in a blossom of weapons fire, an unnatural, stuttering form upon the black canvas of space. With her hideous Basilisk, Mandalore composed a most deadly painting, demarked with streaks of crimson and emerald as she careened across the battlefield. Behind her, the Kry’tsad’s Blackguard flew in erratic formation, applying their skill in the art of death.

Wes’theran’s voice echoed through Mandalore’s buy’ce, the brogue of the Tingel Arm bringing a lyrical nature to the woman’s words as she spoke

Val'ravn…”

It was an odd choice for a title, but it was said that Wes’theran had spent time with Kad Ha’Rangir in the days of wrath, and priestesses were allowed to say what they desired.

“The fleets ply their work, but we have had little impact here. According to our spies, the battle for Kuat was a disaster for these Alliance soldiers.”

Terra’s mind thought to Raven, her longtime friend, and current leader of the Alliance. What frustration she must be feeling, what rage. Her knees tightened on the metallic plating of the Basilisk’s saddle.

“It is said that a great Jedi Master died there… Our enemy died there. Arasuum’s chosen took her.”

A few shudders could be heard as the rest of the Blackguard uttered prayers against such an evil omen. Terra moved a hand to her throat, an imitation of the old traditions. She uttered a few syllables against such a cursed sign, as she was expected to, but she knew the truth; only one Sith could hold that title now.

Sheog moves again in the galaxy…

The Mandalorian let out a small whistle and turned Hades away from Fondor’s gravity well.

“Blackguard, we depart.”

With no further word, the team disappeared into the wildness of Kad Ha’Rangir’s embrace, the insanity of hyperspace.

The guns were really blazing away now. Their heat coils radiating massive amounts of thermal energy into the void of space around each emplacement. The crews serving them were past the beautiful styling of the rolling broadside, now completely focused on getting as many of the spin-sealed rounds onto target as they could. The elevators supplying the heavy batteries were working their best, hauling tonnes of the heavy cartridges up from the magazines deep in the bowels of the battle dragons to the hands of the waiting gunnery teams.

In the Transvaal they were also performing brilliantly. Turbolasers and the makeshift kinetic ram smashing cruisers in front of them with astounding brilliance.

Captain Esterhazy sat along mizzen, watching the holographic display with a mixture of delight and abject horror.

________

The merciless exchange of fire continued. A heavy blast shuddered under the deckplates of Fidelity’s bridge, causing the stocky Admiral Slaughter to pitch forward and catch himself with a fist on the edge of the holographic pit. That fist went straight through one of the orbital shipyards surrounding Fondor, an icon represented by a murky grey that ringed the world.

He glanced towards the crew pit; a nervous glance and a band of red icons was his response, and he understood even as he tuned out the damage report. One of the Calamari cruiser’s shield projectors had been hit in that last salvo. Shields were still holding--but a heavy barrage would overload the remainder of the ship’s shield array and start burning into armor. Fidelity was a tough ship, built at the same shipyards as his old flagship.

The Mandalorians, unfortunately, had come under horrific fire--Herlov and Goliath had managed to maneuver onto the flank of L’Ouverture and Gerrera, the two Victory-class Star Destroyers that they had inherited from Black Sun, and they were emptying their oversized batteries of turbolasers into their hull. Those two missile cruisers were fighting back with everything they had, proton torpedoes and concussion missiles blazing out of their racks in an assembly line of smoke, ion jets, and explosions, and the Mandalorians… were actually holding position to protect the exposed flank. Some of the ships were even deliberately occluding the fire arcs of the enemy batteries, making themselves sapient shields at terrible cost. Multiple corvettes and frigates exploded or fell dark under the barrage.

He was going to need to meet the commander of those Mandalorians, Slaughter resolved. Shake his hand, thank him for holding position despite horrific fire… and quietly hope that the Rebel Alliance would never again have to fight the Crusaders in the future.

Mod mistake: I haven't been clarifying that the 2 extra from the Herlov goes straight to the hull of whatever it damages- I feel we are too late in the fight to retroactively fix this, but this will be the case moving forward. I apologize to both sides for the mistake. Hull damage is applied after shield damage, as per the text of the ability.

Mod Note: The Kinetic Assault cannot target a specific cruiser- it acts as a separate focus fire pool, but other than that all other damage rules apply.

________

“There. L’Ouverture and Gerrera into that hole. We’ll break that damned ship over our knee. Thank the Mandos for their help, tell their supports to get out of there before they’re all dead, and give that bastard our finest.”

Admiral Slaughter stabbed at a void in the holographic pit, as though poking at polygonal representations of his ships could somehow drive his ships any faster. But L’Ouverture and Gerrera seemed to have overloaded their engines, for they surged into a gap in the starfighter screens and engaged one of the larger Sith Star Destroyers at closer range. Fidelity fell behind in its coverage of the two Victory II-class Star Destroyers momentarily leaving L’Ouverture  without the protection of their flagship’s heavier guns.

This time, the barrage was coordinated with exquisite precision. The time-on-target volley from the two missile destroyers arrived nearly at the same moment as a salvo from one of the Mandalorian ships--Slaughter couldn’t even begin to pronounce its name. Tearing his eyes from the command pit for only a moment, he thought he detected an azure glow emitting from overloaded shields… and then that was extinguished when a squadron of B-Wings broke through its fighter coverage and strafed along its flanks.

Herlov’s shields are--”

“Sir! L’Ouverture’s badly hit!”

Slaughter didn’t need sensors to see what had happened to the old VicStar--no more than a kilometer away, the entire bridge was filled with the lightshow that was produced by the dagger-like ship’s demise. A horrific gout of fire tore free from the ship’s bow--a magazine detonation--and was rippling through the ship from stem to stern, tossing armor plates and turrets into the vacuum like children’s toys. That firequake continued through its engines, blowing out two of the massive cowlings free from the hull. Lights immediately flickered and died across the ship. A few batteries continued to fire, but those were either a last-moment attempt to empty a missile launcher’s magazine or the hopeless attempts of a trapped gunner to share his misery with the enemy.

Even without listening to the damage report, Slaughter knew that L’Ouverture was dead. The ship was drifting as a black hulk and fires were blowing through the hull, spreading from where she’d been hit. For the old Star Destroyer, all that could be done was to evacuate as many crew as possible.

This was going to be a costly day.
