It has a good start, a nice grasp on the characters, a great pace (not too fast, but not dragging out either), and a unique flavor to it. Very well done. I'm looking forward to more. That is to be expected with the formalities, though, so no worries. "She was a talented young gal", that phrase really bothered me. The rest of the chapter seemed very sophisticated, to an extent that "gal" really stood out and distracted. *wants to smack Raynuk* Of course people will applause what is the most apparent. If you don't like it DON'T BECOME A COMPOSER! Sorry...kind of a sore spot for me as my family is very musical. Of course, I can understand being drawn to music no matter what, but still...you know?
