A Chapter of Life- a poem (Fin)

Ok so I know this is the month for bad poetry but I wrote this before I read the challenges by Tiana.

Anyway I wrote this the other day getting all kinda homesick for Finland and missing my friends and the whole exchange experience and I just started writing and this is what came out. Tell me what you think.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Friends discovered and loved
We left behind;
As a chapter ended
In the book which is our life.
A year of laughter and fun,
Tears and sadness.
Moments fleeting and precious
In the book which is our life.
As we journey forward;
We remember and cherish,
The people we met
And experiences we shared.
Never forgotten,
But forever remembered.
The country and peoples;
The sights and sounds.
Which were but a chapter,
In the book which is our life.
I almost thought this was going to be another bad poem, but the 1st stanza stopped me short. Hahahha.
Ok that doesn't bode well for me after I come back from college I think i'm going to be college-sick everyday but at least I can read this!
(Ok that's thinking too far ahead since I haven't even gone.)
Still, nice poem! But perhaps the use of words could have been more varied - because this reminds me of some song that I cna't remember at the moment...
Great job, Nat. You captured the feeling perfectly for those of us who know what it feels like. Another chapter of my life is coming to a close as well, and I know that's how I'll always feel about this last year in Africa.
Missed, but cherished. Bittersweet.
Very nice, and I always love to see stuff by you.
Thanks guys!
Ami you will probably understand the feelings the best. And it doesn't really end. I've been home almost 6 months and I think it is just getting worse.
Darsha be prepared... you might not find yourself homesick while in the US but when you get home you'll be homesick for the US probably. And yeah words more varied would work if I could remember words. Seriously my english is terrible from working at an international college where most students have little to no english. They make me dumber!
  • 7 months later...
Nostalgic. I found it very nostalgic. Very heartwarming it spoke to me in a way I cannot descibe. It moved me, it made me miss something I no longer have. The colour, the wonder, the adventure
have I covered everything yet?
