Mysteries of the Past Thread

I have begun writing a story called Star Wars: Mysteries of the Past. It is an anecdotal history of parts of the Star Wars galaxy. It would/could include the advent of the Jedi, the invention of the hyperdrive, the early Dark Jedi, the pre-hyperdrive galaxy, the foundations of the Republic, the Vong origins, and the establishment of the Hapes Consortium. Stories will take place in the years (all dates BBY) 100,000, 1 million, 10 million, 100 million; 1 billion, and 10 billion. I've begun work on the 1 million BBY story, and it's coming along well.

I will try to finish sometime during the summer, and have it up for all to read. It's really interesting writing a story with practically no restraints due to the time frame. Some stories will tell about something about which there is also a basic knowledge, others will tell of what is currently completely unknown, and it will promise to be exciting! Stay classy, j.net!

Peace.

P.S. Please comment about the idea. Thanks.

Generally, hitting someone in the head with your weapon kills them regardless of whether they're wearing a life-sustaining mask. I'm pretty sure this is general combat strategy whether your target is Darth Vader or some thug on the street.

So it'll be more of a series? Sounds interesting, but I strongly encourage you to read up on your facts, especially if you want this to be as accurate as possible. I highly recommend the Star Wars Essential Chronology, and I like the New one in particular. You can get it at any bookstore in your area, I'm sure.

I like this time period myself, mostly because it leaves lots of openings for you to go off on your own direction. My only concern is that this sounds like a very monumnetal project.

It'll be interesting to see what you come up with.

P.S. I would have suggested putting this in the FanFiction News thread, since you don't have any written yet, but meh.

I decided that I could post in the news thread when it's actually nearing the release date...but I guess I'll put something there now.

And about the monumental thing, it's going to be cool. I'm going to explore a new time, while not explaining the whole galaxy or anything, as it will be anecdotes/narratives. There will be one or two main characters whose fates will intertwine at an important time in the galaxy's history. It seems cool to me.

There will still be space stuff...maybe the way we have dogfights...or did for that matter. I know how I'm going to write this...it should be cool. I actually take the long time between systems into account. I should take a while to write this.

BTW, should I start posting the first part when I finish it, or wait until the whole thing is done?

This sounds interesting!

As for posting as you write vs. writing the whole thing ahead of time, I think that decision is usually based personal preference. My writing time is so limited and sporadic, I don't want to post any long stories until they are done. On the other hand, if you know that you'll be able to post semi-regularly, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'd really like to read the one you mentioned about the invention of hyperdrive. That sounds like a lot of fun, depending on how you do it.

That one could actually take the longest to write, as it would have the most restrictions. Of course, I could add a new concept to follow what's already been said but still be completely new...

I think that I'll post one of these stories soon...or at least a trailer for that one...what say y'all?

Okay so here's the scoop:

I found my rough draft, or whatever you want to call it, of the first story pretty recently (it was in a Star Wars folder, who would have thought?). And it also had the list of the other stories I wanted to write. So here's what (I think) is going down: I'll post the first story sometime in the upcoming months (most likely when I get my laptop for college but maybe sooner). I can't make any half-promises past that, especially since I don't know what a lot of my notes for other stories mean. And I'll admit that as of right now there are some continuity errors between it and the current EU. But those issues should be easy to smooth out by simply moving the timeframe. So I may post the story soon.

But right now I really need to get to bed and probably disappear from the site for a bit.

TTYL!
