If the situation could have gotten much worse Delta did not know how. Seeing the two grenades detonate prematurely with a flick of the Jedi’s hand brought a grim smile to his lips and he could hear the muttered curses from those beside him as many of their bolts were simply reflected harmlessly away or caught unfortunate Rebel soldiers instead of their prize. Still, their advance had been temporarily halted, which was an advantage all to itself. Other than the fact that the Jedi trapped within the vault were now hurriedly escaping. It was a damned mess, and there was not much he could do about it now other than to pray that he and his soldiers made it out alive.

The cover he was using began to shift under his elbow and he took a step back, watching with a mixture of awe and anger as his cover flew beyond his reach. A blaster bolt crackled by his head and he took in the situation with a glance. With no cover, or at least the cover rapidly becoming the Jedi’s cover, there was only a single other tactical option for his commandos. Find new cover, and in the process flank the damned Jedi Knight.

“Split.”

But his men were moving before he even spoke the word, and Delta and Hensi took a step and sprinted through the chaos. Sigrid dumped an emptied energy magazine and quickly fed in another as they ran. While the other three, Johnson, Kolo, and La’ten went the opposite direction. Like a sliding bulkhead in a star destroyer, the two groups of commandos fell quickly to either side of the front line of Sith and colonial police. Leaving a visible and intentional gap in the front lines that was further accented by the whirling explosion of a fragmentary grenade. Its blast, though it kicked up a storm of small shrapnel and small chunks of rock that easily killed a few of the colonial police, it did little to the heavily armoured commandos who were already outside the grenades' kill radius.

The Darkhand commandos were used to working in small squads and in pairs, they had demonstrated the tactic on Mon Calamari, and would do so again, speaking in low tones to each other through their squad comms, picking out each individual target. But here they only had very few targets they needed to eliminate, and the squad of rebel soldiers with their Jedi Knight was easily the most important target on the field. Kill the command element, and the rest of the troops, especially poorly trained, mismatched rebels, would fall to pieces. Delta reassessed the scene as he skidded to a halt behind a permacrete planter box that came up to his waist. They had left a gap, and were now perfectly set up. His HUD told him that the Darkhanders on the other side of the line found similar cover. So it was time for them to begin their grim work yet again.

With the quick dash to the side completed, he and his men could now begin to harass both flanks of the approaching speeder-covered Jedi strike team. Effectively ignoring the makeshift shield, he knelt and brought the blaster rifle to his shoulder. With a quick flick of his right thumb on the selector switch, he flipped the rifle into automatic fire and depressed the trigger. Letting loose a stream of controlled red blaster fire from the duel reciprocating barrels of the E-22 towards the woman with the orange lightsabre. Beside him and across the line, the four Darkhand commandos also let loose a chaos fire towards the embattled Rebel position.

Displeased at Kashi's stand, the Darksider took to the forefront, his use of the lightfoil and his variant of Makashi an undesirable advantage against Kashi's own Form VI as the two blades clashed in a vibrant display of azure and crimson. Kashi stuck to the defensive, twirling the blade to meet each parlay and pivot with rusted skill, using his adept ability with telekinesis to compensate as he stepped back with each confrontation.

But such was Kashi's plan in this fight. He needed just enough time bought for Aidan and the others to retreat, using the Darksider's focus on him and the four others to bide such time, shifting his focus briefly to ensure his duty was being upheld.

"You seem distracted Jedi." The raven haired man spoke as his lightfoil slid against Kashi's dual bladed stave, Kashi gaze shifting back abruptly. "Worried about your men?"

"You could say that." Kashi responded, sparks igniting from the met blades as he felt Aidan and the others making their exit. Lifting his blade and throwing the Darksider's back, Kashi smiled as he unleashed a wave of the Force toward toward his enemies and jumped back. "Just buying them some time."

With that said, Kashi signaled their retreat, and headed behind Aidan for the exit, his blade deflecting recovered blaster bolts from the Colonials as the Darksider gave chase. A few of the deflected caused the Darksider to side step, but his pursuit was still relentless as his men attempted to keep up. But as Kashi neared the exit and passed through its threshold, he pulled upon its columns and caused its collapse, ending his pursuit.

But what Kashi hadn't expected was the visage he turned around to face, the four before him unleashing their rifles into a barrage of fully automatic fire at the Forces they met. Meters away was Aidan and his group, and in the distance, their rescuers. But between them and salvation was hell. His stave still active, Kashi reached deep into the Force and his twin shotos sprang to life, dancing upon the air as if spirits guided them, deflecting blaster bolts in unison with his own. It was going to be one hell of a fight. Looking to the others, Kashi gave his final order. "Behind me."

((Requested OPFOR for Aidan))

In the storm of steel and discharged tibanna gas, the Sith soldiers and colonial police that had come to interrupt a bank robbery found themselves not only judiciously overwhelmed but almost outgunned. The fearsome daggers of light that marked the pair of Jedi knights and their unique weapons, drew fire from both local forces and the Sith who were not currently engaged with the assaulting Jedi troops. Two of the local police, their underpowered sporting blasters deemed useless, retrieved high powered repeating blaster rifles from the trunks of their police speeders and laid a withing wall of fire towards the Jedi knights, while those within the sabre's reach quickly backpedaled to escape what could only be seen as certain death.

Afterall, there were only a few bags of credits being manhandled by the Jedi, who wanted to die for cash? Very few when faced by spinning sabre and blasts of the force could stand tall. The banks data center had been closed and sealed for hours. Spast the cash, if they wanted to get away with a few million credits let them. Or at least that was the attitude of the persuing sith and police. So most kept their distance, letting the shock and awe of the fight in the north cover their own trembling hands.

The Castellan however, still persued. He flicked the lightfoil up and with his spare hand let loose a storm of force energy intending to knock the pair of them flat.

Streets of Carannia

With the area between the Jedi advance and the bank partially cleared of enemy forces by the removal of their cover and the grenades, Adenna could now focus on turning one of their flanks and shattering the entire line. It was by no means secure at this point, but that was what she was here for and once that was a safe one for the extraction of the team inside. Of course, the addition of two more Jedi behind their lines would make things quite interesting, but for now, they had yet to emerge from the bank so it would be her job to go in and get them. The Sith troopers had split, apart, but that didn't overly concern her because now she could deal with them piecemeal.

Now that the enemy had split in two and effectively abandoned the center, she could divide then conquer. Adenna slammed the wrecked speeder down into the permacrete street keeping it propped up at an angle that would provide her and the four with her cover from one of the two divided flanks. Now, with only about half the firepower aimed at them, she could go on the offensive.

She yelled for the four troopers to focus fire on the flank where two of the armored Sith troopers had relocated. Even as she did, one of them flew back with multiple blaster impacts in her chest, but that didn't alter the plan. Adenna was tired of this ranged fight, it was time to get up close and personal and end this in a way Jedi were best at. Gathering up the Force, she jumped and used it to carry her with great speed on a shallow arc straight at the enemy position.

The move got her close, but it did come at a cost. With the constant stream of fire coming at her, she couldn't block everything. One bolt glanced along her medium armor and, while much of its bite was deflected or absorbed, enough still remained to scorch her rib cage under her left arm. Another dug into her right thigh where she was less armored. She cried out in pain as she landed beside the planter her foes were using as cover, but the battle instinct kept her moving even if the swing of her lightsaber at the armored troopers was thrown off.

The nanites that flowed through her body quickly deadened her screaming nerves, but they would take time to start healing. She was where she wanted to be and with three others offering covering fire, but it had cost her and that was simply the price of war. Now that she was close, she aimed to use her Force enhanced speed and the glowing firebrand of a lightsaber to clear the Sith out.

With the focus on Aidan and Kashi, Aidan hastily ordered his men to advance to the assault shuttle at all costs, as it was their best hope of escape. With the Force, he levitated two bags of the credits, sending them hurtling towards the shuttle entrance. If he was to be at his best in this hornet's nest, he couldn't afford to be slowed down by them. A split second later the hairs on the back of his neck prickled, his senses giving him warning of the imminent attack by the Castellan, but he was in no position to do anything about it.

The telekinetic energy sent him reeling, sliding across the street to slide to a nasty halt against a duracrete bench. He'd managed to twist himself to absorb most of the impact, but it still hurt. This was the work of the dark side, and it was high time Aidan took this threat seriously. For a brief moment there was a lull in the fighting as everyone in the area felt the young Darkfire delve into the Force, like a tone so deep it was felt rather than heard. The energies of the light swarmed to him, concentrating in his hand as he held it before him. Ghostly silver-white flames softly began flickering about him, manifesting from the intense density of Force energy. His voice cracked like thunder across the street as he walked forwards a few steps, taking an appropriate position.

"Sith! I name you! Oppressor of the weak! Thief of virtue, scourge of the righteous! You have lost your way, and I will help you find it!"

Aidan's hand shot forward to point at the Castellan, and from it poured an intense white-hot light, a supernatural jet of flame and water yet neither, the very essence of the energy of the light side, the Exorcist's flame. Aidan was not the judge of how it would affect the man, all reacted differently to the assault. The man would serve as his own judge. His own sins would damn him as he was confronted with them, but goodness and compassion in his heart would proportionately save him from the burning righteous wrath.

Aidan's own hand began to burn, but he ignored the pain, it was the double edged sword of exorcism, the toll he paid for the right to exact such a punishing manipulation of light. This was all or nothing, and if he expected the rest of his men to survive it was a necessary maneuver, a price gladly paid. At the least, this would buy them the time they needed.

The firefight lit up the dimming streets outside the bank with furious hues of red, punctuated here and there with the orange-white glow of an explosion that rocked the darkening sky. As the rebel charge was mostly halted and the leading element pinned down behind a landspeeder, the morale in the Sith and colonial lines was high. And when the Rebel’s cover shifted to obscure them from one flank, with all fire directed at Delta’s element, a new opportunity arose. With all of their concentration locked in on where Delta and Hensi were crouched, this was the perfect opportunity for the other three of the Darkhand to make their move. A counter flank to cut off a command element was far too great a target to ignore.

“Push.”

Was all Delta needed to say and the trio a dozen meters away lept from their cover and bolted towards the pinned down Rebel troops. First they launched a hail of grenades to destroy the cover that the rebels were bunkered behind, and then Darkhand would clear the target with rifle fire. They pushed from both flanks of the Rebels in an effort to surround and cut off any that had lived through the explosive destruction of their cover. But for Delta and Hensi there was another problem. The Jedi Knight had gotten to them, as wounded as she was. It was a respectful thing, something only the bravest would have attempted and Delta let a smile of respect touch his lips. The woman must have been a shining star in the Jedi Order and the courage she showed only highlighted it.  But now she was far too close for comfort and the Darkhand pair began to move. Though they were taking a slackening fire from the front, staying where a Jedi Knight could cut you down was simply not tenable.

He pushed off the cover as the woman landed and the orange lightsabre cut through the arm of Hensi as she tried to move. Perhaps she thought that the blade would stop against the armour? Delta would never know and her shout of surprise ended as a blaster bolt caught her falling form and finished her jump for her. Her blaster rifle dropped from her lifeless fingers as her body hit the ground with a sickening crunch, the rifle spinning off a few more rounds into the sky before it too fell silent.

But there was no time for grief, or to reflect that every time that he deployed, another friend was snatched from him in some ultimately useless venture. How long had she been with him? She had been one of the Black Sun lieutenants that had loyally followed him into the Sith Empire. But he had no time for remorse, and though he was shocked and a little scared, his training would take care of him. He skipped back from the Jedi Knight, keeping his rifle level with her as he kept his finger on the trigger. Dispensing what justice he could for Hensi from both barrels of the the blaster rifle in a waving motion from head to feet. To force her to react and slow against the stream of bolts. Anything to slow her down. And as he moved he measured the space between them in his mind. It was close, but not deadly close to him, and she would be slowed by whatever his last blaster bolts had given her unless she wanted to absorb even more of the blistering rounds.

So he simply pressed the second trigger on his rifle twice as his rifle panned down towards her groin. Spitting out two impact, high explosive 42mm grenades at the ground at her feet. Would he get some backblast? Of course. But this was do or die, and he could not let her get any closer. Plus she had just killed a good friend of his, what more could he loose?

Adenna's attack, as off kilter as it was, managed to strike a target which was quickly hit by one of the three troopers covering her. For that, Adenna was partially satisfied, but she didn't have much time to dwell on it as she immediately moved to focusing on the second Sith trooper as he opened fire with his own blaster.

Without incoming fire to worry about from the two reduced to one on their left, the trio of Jedi Order Armed Forces troopers could focus on the incoming threat from the right. Even as their own cover was being disintegrated, they reacted in the only way they could: they fought. Retreat wasn't an option for the three, so one of them lobbed as many frag grenades at the lesser armed or armored colonial forces on the line as they could to keep them busy. The other two poked around the front and the rear of the splintering speeder and targeted the three Sith troopers who were sprinting out in the open, hoping to kill as many of them as possible before their position was overrun. If they were overrun, they would die, though they also knew their brethren behind them on the lines would get their turn and the cause they died for would carry forth even without them.

Adenna didn't focus on the fate of the trio of brave troopers, she had her own fight to face. With her feet now firmly planted, she stood firm against the close range onslaught. Being shot was nothing new to the Grandmaster—it had happened twice in her past—she was not the same person being shot that she was then. She was older and more in tune with the Force. Since she was already drawing upon it, she choose to delve entirely into Living Force and all of the power it could give to protect those who surrendered to its flow. Her attention to the minutia of battle faded as she abandoned her self and embraced the Force itself. Her eyes closed and she remained still, standing defiant and ready. Her lightsaber, once a flurry of activity as it deflected blaster bolts, slowed and lowered itself as she no longer needed to rely upon its crude physical material for protection.

Instead, she trusted the Force.

She became a conduit, a focal point of the Force that allowed energy to enter and flow through her before being redirected back out. Blaster bolts hit her, shredding her armor and the robes beneath causing sparks and a small amount of smoke as the cloth burned. To the panicked observer in the middle of the chaos of battle, it might even look like she was being shot and in immediate danger. However, once the energy from those blaster bolts hit her skin, instead of harming her, they were absorbed and caught up in the eternal river that the Living Force flowed through.

Then, though her physical eyes didn't register it, the jagged lines of chaos within the Force warned her of much larger explosions as two high explosive grenades went off on the ground before her planted feet. She had only the briefest of times to thank the Force that these were not frag grenades before she had to focus her mind on the task at hand. The energy from the grenades enveloping and being absorbed into her was far too much for her to safely store for long, so she now found herself needing to redirect this sudden spike in energy elsewhere.

Without hesitation, she choose to turn that attack back upon the one who sent it to her. Being so fully ensconced in the Living Force left little room for self, so when Adenna unleashed the entirety of the energy she absorbed from the handful of blaster shots and the grenades back at the commando and the flank of Sith or colonial troops, she did so with a truly terrifying amount of power that ripped and shredded and hurled anything in its path aside.

In this moment, there was no Adenna, only the Grandmaster of the Jedi and all the strength of that storied Order.

One of the Darkhand commandos went down with a gasp over his squad comms, spitting blood into his mic from a shot to his neck that came spinning from one of the embattled rebel troopers behind the speeder. But the rest of his squad fought on, relying on their grenades, blasters, and flanking maneuver to carry the day, and by a flood of fire, drive the men of the Alliance out of the capital of Serenno.

To their commander, the task of defeating a Jedi Knight seemed the most impossible yet. As he saw his blaster bolts disappear into nothing he set his jaw, and when the high explosive grenades went off, leaving her steadfast, he resigned himself to the fact that more was likely to come. And when he saw the shimmering wave coming for him he threw himself out of its path. He gathered what strength remained to him in his legs and jumped to the side, letting the brunt of the wave pass him by while taking the trailing edge.

His vision turned a hazy blue as his shield generator took the brute force of the wave and shunted it into the capacitor. With a distinctive whine and a pop followed by a bright red alarm in his helmet’s HUD, the shield generator attached to his Katarn class armour failed. The remaining energy buffeted him and he could feel the heat of it singe his underweave and blacken the grey paint of his armour. For while the blow was powerful, it was dispersed along an entire flank of men and women.

It shocked him how much power the Jedi held in her grasp, it had not been a fatal blow, but had he not been wearing his armour or his shields, it would have likely ended with a very dead Clone Commando. He landed heavily, the duracrete smacking heavily into his armour as he turned the fall into a well practised roll and came up into a crouch. His HUD was going crazy and his armour  was smoking with thick curls of ozone and burned polish, but he was alive. Armour and shields were designed for this kind of blow. The colonials down the line likely fared very poorly but Delta was up and ready. If not awed by the power the Jedi had shown.

As Kashi stood before the men in his charge, his blades deflecting what bolts of plasma and gas they could, his mind wandered back centuries ago. This was war, its echoes of the past as fresh as present. His mind remembered why he chose to stay upon Iego for so long, the haunting memories, the lingering pain of so many lives shouting upon the Jedi's mind, all in defiance of the Living Force as they were snuffed from existence. And despite his defensive nature, he had taken a few himself. Tears trickled from his eyes. War would never change.

Reality came to as he felt the wave of energy strike upon his backside, his body wrecked with pain as the screams echoed around him in unison and his form becoming the focus of the darkness. As those he sought to protect found their mouths full of mud, Kashi felt his cranium crack hard against debris as he landed against it, his focus failing for a moment. His vision threatened to fail, it fading as it fought between focus and the abyss until he could see clearly, his hand reaching for his stave as he fought to stand despite the wavering of his legs, his mind aching with pain.

Sounds of fire echoed around him, screams of pain danced upon the Force as he closed his eyes to sturdy himself against the blow as blood leaked down his forehead. And as he found a sturdy standing, he opened them, reactivating his blade with justifiable vengence. The Force flowed through his form, stretching out toward the handless shotos and claimed their return, reigniting them to stave off the Colonial Police and Sith Insurgents as a calming yet eerie dogma emitted from Aidan.

"Go." Kashi ordered the Four the had gathered back upon his position. "Head to the Assault Ship. I will be right behind you."

Kashi watched in brief awe as the Force flowed from Aidan in a cleansing manner, a vengeful saving grace aching to free the soul from darkness, before turning to head toward the assault vessels and the Grandmaster. He didn't know what power the Imperial Knight used, but it was as harmful as it was cleansing. As the twin shotos danced upon the wind around Kashi, his own stave defending his center, he began the fight toward Adenna.

Mod Post: Adenna - Delta Duel Ruling

First off let me congratulate both of you on writing an enjoyable duel that was aesthetically appealing and both decidedly Star Wars in feel and relatively tactically sound for a galaxy far far away. Well done. Bravo!

In reading the lead up to the duel and the duel itself, I notes a couple interesting grammatical and or spelling errors. Most of these I can easily attribute to fat fingers and the limitations of spell check. They did not deter from the duel and I was only sent scrambling for an online dictionary twice because the verbiage was used in such a way to make me wonder at my own ignorance of the English language.

I especially appreciated the full display of force powers exhibited by Adenna. The absorption and redirection of a barrage of fire only to turn and redirect it was awe inspiring and a pinnacle of Jedi power applied in combat. Additionally, I felt like I could really connect with Delta as he faced such an overwhelming possibility of force. He was, like a career soldier, prepared to do what he needed to, in spite of what he knew could be a potential situation. The loss of another friend, I felt it and felt for him. Additionally, I appreciated neither side picking a load out specifically designed to hamper the other.

This battle was truly a battle of titanic forces both of whom brought a lot of backstory and character buildup to the table. Trying to sift through all that would be monumental, so in looking at the duel itself and the actions on Serenno I made my ruling.

The winner of this duel is : DELTA

The use of tactical NPCs, while not strictly relegated to non force users (NFUs), are a tool in the NFU toolbox specifically to help counter the overwhelming force and supernatural abilities a a single force user can bring to the battlefield. Depending on the circumstances, force users (FUs) can still have and utilize tactical NPCs, but it does create a power shift when using them along with force powers against a NFU. I understand that this was in the middle of a chaotic war scene. Both aides did well including snippets of other flavorful NPCs playing out about them. The focus is the duel with the battlefield as a backdrop.

Additionally, posts should be limited to what can be achieved in a matter of seconds unless agreed upon beforehand. Any action taken by an character that directly impacts the other character and has any potential to alter the battlefield for one side or another needs to be left open ended enough so as to allow the opposition time to react. Chaining together multiple actions without allowing time for the other to respond, except for responding to multiple actions in a post that forces a specific response or genre of limiting responses is not acceptable. Thankfully, I saw VERY little of this, but it did creep up. It does to the best of us.

**SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING TRAVIS**
After the conclusion of this duel and before I started even ruling on this, Travis, who plays Adenna, was banned from roleplaying for an extended period of time. That incident was not considered when ruling on this duel, but I would be remise to not note it in the ruling. Travis’ characters are offered a stasis-type level of protection so if / when Travis returns, his characters are viable to play and this OOC situation is not exploited ICly. Having concluded the duel prior to the banning, there is some leeway in the response to this duel. Tim, who plays Delta, is an administrator and veteran RPer on this site and I have full confidence in his abilities to weigh the OOC situation with his IC response. I not know the status of Adenna as to if she is a perma-death character or not. Normally this should not be a factor in IC responses, but given the extraordinary circumstances I would strongly urge that Adenna not be killed in this battle and instead be A) captured and transported to a location where she is out of harms way and has the ability to escape / be released ( her identity has not been established in this battle and it *could be* possible that it remains undiscovered and she is relegated to some third tier Sith prison barge or something that she could later escape from) or B) wounded and either left for dead for rescue by other Jedi / Imperial forces planet side or wounded and left and nursed back to health by unnamed locals or allowed to escape along with retreating forces of good.

Hellfire!

The infernal touch from the young exorcist was just a graze, a brush upon the bare skin, but it was enough. The blue white fire pulsed up the Castellan’s arm, spreading along the viens of his arm as fast as the blood pumped, boiling and busting vessels as it passed. Until a pump later the atrial valves filled with the consuming fire, and the man’s heart burst in his chest. He opened his mouth to spit a defiant curse, but the only thing he coughed up was a bright stream of liquid fire that coursed down his armour in bright rivulets. A moment later his eyes too were filled with the burning and he collapsed. Dying silently.

The way was now open for the Jedi to retreat, though the armed forces of the Sith were now firmly pushing the Jedi ground troops back. The door for escape would be closed soon. But for now, they could escape.

__________________

The jedi knight, standing strong as she had upon her release of the force, stumbled once, twice, then fell to the duracrete with a sickening thud. Delta let his breath slowly leave his lungs and he could feel the fuzzy feeling of absolute tiredness creep into the corners of his vision. And he took a moment to regain his breath, his shoulders heaving as the nerves took him. He shuddered for a moment, basking in the sweet release of a victory, before he found the strength to push himself to his feet. He was unsteady for a moment before one of the commandos grabbed him by the arm to steady him. He leaned heavily on the man and shook his head.

“She dead?”

But before they could check on the body, a surge of rebel troops had pushed forward with heavy losses to retrieve the woman. The commando’s of darkhand kept their heads low and when the fire slackened enough Delta crawled to Hensi, who was laying in a stagnant pool of red-black blood. He reached to her helmet and found the clasp under her chin. A simple twist and pull revealed blood soaked brown hair and listless green eyes. The bolt had caught her in the neck, smashing through the underweave and burning from one side of her neck through the other. She had lived a few more minutes, bleeding and choking into her helmet, and had likely only recently expired.

He reached and with two fingers closed those haunting eyes. He held up one hand as he commed the medics. “Extraction and two vials.” And like before it was a quick brutal thing to scan the brain matter and harvest DNA. Only when that was done, did he let her head come back to rest on the duracrete.

“She could be sleeping Commander.”

Delta nodded and stood. For there was more to do.

It was Chaos as Kashi and the men fought through the Colonial and Sith Forces, the Jedi Knight ever on the defensive as his shotos danced to their own tunes, focusing his own upon his center. His men ran before him, taking pot shots and running forward as best they could and finding cover when the time called. And Kashi held up the rear, using his skills in Telekinetic Combat to allow their focus upon the forefront. It was almost claustrophobic, running a bottle necked formation against the pincer of the enemy's combined forces, aiming toward relief of those that sat just up ahead.

But for Kashi, this was not a place he liked to be. He despised war, loathed confrontation. And the fear, anger, hate that he felt upon the field of battle only strengthened his convictions. But GrandMaster Adenna had been adamant in this course, presenting this to be the only path in this new era for the Jedi, and as such, Kashi trusted her wisdom. If this was the only way, then it was the only way, her position as Grandmaster not taken lightly. There was a reason she had been guided to such a title by the Force.

Just as Kashi and men topped the hill, taking cover behind a set of offset speeders, Kashi felt the Force ache with pain, his gaze falling upon Adenna in this distance as he fell before his eyes. His gaze grew serious, the suffering he felt upon the Force echoing his own. And he took charge, leading his men in her direction. His blades swirled about, deflecting incoming attacks with intense volleys as they ran into the thick of things, his staff deflecting more focused fire in their direction as their charge continued. But when they reached Adenna's position, her own men had sacrificed much of themselves just to retrieve her as the enemy focused more heavily upon them.

"Get her out of here and to the Healers." Kashi spoke with a solemn tone, his gaze shifting back to the particular group the Grandmaster had been facing. "We need to get out of here."

With that said, Kashi and a few other Knights took up the rear to defend their retreat, his gaze focused solely upon those that had struck her down. Just as they neared the shuttle, Kashi felt a stinging sensation to his knee and shoulder despite his defense. Stretching his free hand outward, he pushed out in the Force and pushed himself backwards into the ship with his injuries fresh, the others beginning to board. Now it was just the matter of getting out of here.

As Adenna fell, Aidan's gut wrenched. Instead of the harmony within the logic of the battlefield, for a moment it fell apart to a cacophony of senseless randomness. They needed to leave, right then and now.

Aidan hurried through the urban warfare combat zone as it filled with smoke, lit ominously by blaster fire from all angles. This was now a place of death and despair, stained by their own hubris and foolhardiness. Those sensitive enough would feel a slight nexus within the Force of exorcist energies tangled in an endless waltz with the darkness. Briefly he thought he saw something, dark commando helmets in the shadows, watching him. He didn't have the time to focus on them with his senses, and he couldn't be sure, but something deep in his mind told him this wasn't the last chance he'd get to uncover their identity.

As the last man made it to the shuttle, Aidan signalled for immediate takeoff, as well as broadcasting on a secure channel to all local Jedi and Rebel forces to retreat from Serenno. Sith ships swarmed after them like an enormous beast composed of a hive mind of smaller entities, their jaws rushing closed to trap the Jedi. One of the assault shuttles took heavy fire, knocking out its shields and life support, but at the last moment when the Star Destroyer came into range their navicomputer solutions resolved, feeding the calculations to the shuttles' slaved hyperdrives, throwing them into the safety of hyperspace as deadly turbolaser fire lanced through where they were mere seconds before.

For now at least, it was time for the Jedi and the Rebels to turn their attention elsewhere. The blow had been struck, the damage dealt. No doubt Sith PR teams would try to spin their actions here wildly against the reality of what happened, but the message to their leadership was loud and clear: We won't go quietly.
