Zara glanced up as she noticed both Mellanie and Kalyani squirming in their seats. She hid a smile though her grey eyes sparkled when she noticed the object of the girls attention coming their way. The way he spoke to her daughters was not condescending though did 'let them down' gently so she didn't interrupt as he spoke to her girls.

He turned to face the mother. "I'm Darex Trevelian. You have beautiful daughters, Mrs...?"

Zara pushed her chair back and stood, offering Darex her hand as she responded, "Thank you, Mr Trevelian. I'm Ms Zara Nargal, one of the owners of this fine establishment. This is Kalyani and Mellanie" she indicated a hand towards each, "I wish to apologise for my daughters behaviour. I hope they didn't disturb your meal."

Zara.jpg

It had taken quite a bit out of her so when Darla asked if she could get anything for her, Skye smiled and nodded, "Yes please. An energy drink if you could." The Healer sank back down into the chair to rest up a bit. It had been quite a delicate process, one that took her whole concentration. Skye was pleased with the results though.

Hearing her patient speak, Skye rose and moved closer, "Your welcome Brina." The Healer watched as the woman slipped into a natural sleep before she stepped away from the bed. After another glance at the projected monitor, Skye gave a nod towards Flitter to indicate that it was fine for the droid to turn off the hologram monitor. Doctor Ran came in then so Skye gave him her report. "Ms Thalin is now free of the disease. She will still need a day or so bed rest to regain her strength but otherwise she now has a clean bill of health."

Darex smiled, though he was surprised that this woman was Ms. Nargal herself. "Not at all. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Nargal, Kalyani, and Mellanie."

The Jedi Master thought back to see if he knew anything about Zara Nargal's training, for obviously she had had some. In fact, the "flavor" of her presence in the Force reminded him strongly of the time he had met one of the witches of Dathomir. "May I ask you a question, Ms. Nargal? I couldn't help but notice that you and both of your daughters have significant potential for the Force. If I'm not being too bold, may I inquire why your daughters have not yet begun their training? And you yourself have the aura of someone who has never completed Force training. Is there a reason for that, or is it simply that the life of a businesswoman is more appealing to you than that of a Jedi or a Sith?"

He had half a mind to offer to train one of the girls if they were interested. He had no padawan since Jin had decided to go off on his own, and he knew that it was still his duty to train the next generation. But for now, he was simply curious as to the situation of the co-owner of the Casino and her family.

**

The thing was, Emily knew that she could grow roots in the Force. She had seen it in others--Montar, her parents, Alora, and even Masters Organa and Trevelian. But she didn't quite know how.

I need a master. A teacher. Someone who's been there before and can guide my steps. Not to make me grow roots, but to guide me as I do so. She gave a mental sigh. Then I guess I need to stop putzing around and make some decisions. Do I return to the Sith and hope for a new master, or do I head back to Gala and take my chances with the Jedi? Why couldn't mom and dad just tell me which side they wanted me to follow? It's hard to do both.

Even as the thought crossed her mind, she disagreed with it. She was glad that they had left her free to choose her own destiny...she just wished she could get some good solid advice on the matter. Perhaps she should seek out Aunt Alora. But the Sith woman was probably busy getting ready for her upcoming wedding.

She really wished she could talk to Uncle Andon or Aunt Jaina. But the Force only knew where they were and what had happened to them.

Finally, she took a deep breath. "Alright," she said aloud. "I guess it's time to return to the Sith. Perhaps there I can find the answers I seek."

She felt a little better for having made a decision, and rose to her feet. She finished jotting down the information on her datapad about the flower as she made her way back to Master Organa's ship. Once there, she settled in to wait, making herself a quick snack as she did so.

Zara nodded as Darex spoke, "You may ask..." her tone was light, almost teasing. At his question a thoughtful expression crossed her face. By his signature in the Force, Mr Trevelian was obviously a strong Force user of the light persuasion. Was he with the Healer's group? There was an easy way to tell... begin her answer with a question of her own. It was a few moments before she spoke, "Did you arrive with the Jedi Healer Mr Trevelian? Please, call me Zara." She paused a few seconds, wondering how Brina was going, before she glanced at her girls then back to him, "My daughters can decide for themselves if they wish to have training...," from the look in his face she added, "They have been taught the basics from myself and my Dathomiri clan sisters. As for my own training... something always gets in the way. I may never complete it." Zara said with a laugh, then continued, "I don't know if you would know Jedi Sabian Devanus? He taught me for a while and I've also had lessons from Count Draken Shadowlord. Sabian is also Mellanie's father." Her grey eyes sparkled as she mentioned having training from both a Jedi and a Sith.

Kalyani's golden eyes lit up as the conversation turned towards training... she knew her mother would let her decide on her own path in life and while she was learning the family business, Kali did want to learn more about the Force... so did her little sister. Mellanie had a strange expression on her face as her father was mentioned... the young girl wondered if this Jedi knew her father at all.

As Zara was waiting for Darex to speak she was alerted by a comm from the medical center. The tension lines around her eyes smoothed out as she was told that Brina had received a clean bill of health. There would be no more worrying that the disease would return as the Jedi had healed her. A radiant smile lit her features as she turned to tell her daughters the good news, "Aunty Brina is going to be fine girls. The Jedi Healer has healed her." She turned back towards Darex, "I am so grateful for what Healer Organa has done. Would you give her my thanks please."

Zara.jpg

Skye inclined her head as Dr Ran thanked her on Brina's behalf. "Your welcome. When she wakes she will feel like a new woman. Now if there is nothing more, I will take my leave." The doctor nodded his head as Skye signed off on the paperwork and handed it back to him.

They were met at the medical center doors by a Link employee carrying a large gift basket and a datapad. "Thank you for all that you have done for Ms Thalin." I-Nine was given the basket to carry back to the ship and the datapad was given to Skye. The datapad was in fact an accommodation voucher given in thanks for all that had been done for Brina.

((OOC: LOL at the gift basket! ))

Darex nodded in response to Zara's question. "Indeed I did come with Healer Organa. She is a very old friend, and the one who trained me in the ways of the Force."

He listened to what the businesswoman had to say. "Yes, I knew Sabian briefly. When I met him, he was a very confused man trying to put back pieces of his life. I never knew he had a daughter." He smiled at Melanie. "Now that I know, I can see the resemblance." Sabian had left a strong impression on Darex, and even though they had only met in person once, Sabian's illustrious military career and his unique path as a Jedi had ensured that the meeting would always stick out in Darex's mind.

"I'd encourage you to finish your training, Ms. Nargal," he said. "You have vast potential. The same goes for you two ladies," he added, turning to the younger members of the party. "If you ever decide to walk the path of the Jedi, contact me. I'd love to do whatever I can to get you set up."

He jotted down his contact information for the girls as the communication came through. The news was positive, and it gave Darex a comforting sense of satisfaction to hear that the woman was going to be well. Not that he had ever doubted Skye's talent. "I will definitely pass on your thanks," he said. "It was a pleasure to meet you. May the Force be with you. All three of you."

He gave them a bow and excused himself. Heading back towards the medical center, he increased his stride. He was eager to congratulate Skye in person, and to hear Darla's thoughts on the matter. He knew she had to have gone through some frustration during the process; she clearly regretted not being able to heal anymore, and Darex wanted to make sure she was alright.

He met up with them halfway between the med center and the docking bay. "Hey," he said, grinning. "I heard you did good work, Skye. Ms. Nargal passes on her personal thanks." He sidled up next to Darla and slipped an arm around her waist as they walked. "How're you doing?"

As his hand made contact with her side, he felt a strange flicker of the Force. It was like...he couldn't place it. It reminded him of Shy-Ree in her later days, but he had no idea why. He shook his head. The Force on the station was a bit odd given the layering of the non-Force zones. It must be my imagination. Why would Darla feel like Shy, anyway?

Idarah's next few days were fairly uneventful. She kept her programming centered on trying to organize the funeral as she was asked, but couldn't get a hold of Zara to figure out what else was going on.

It was a little weird not knowing and Idarah had only heard idle ramblings of something having to do with Zara's business partner Brina Thalin, but other than that, Idarah was left to make the funeral arrangements on her own.

The construct, through the Link's budget, ordered a moderately unique hover casket and tried to rent out one of the Link's ballrooms for an entire week to get it ready which wasn't really all that spendy considering it was in the Link, but she managed to purchase a great deal of decorations and the help of several people with the setup. Now, as to the placement, she did have some doubts as to having it in a Link ballroom and thought Zara might have had a problem with it too, but she figured he would want to be remembered in the Golden Link not off it. Idarah didn't know Idejjen all that much, but from Ida's worry and the amount of passion spent in her and Zara's weeping, she figured Idejjen would want to be remembered where he lived and not anywhere else. She didn't think he'd want to be cremated, but the cyborg had yet to figure out exactly what to do with Idejjen's body after the ceremony.

It was a fairly meaningful decision so she felt it would be better if Zara made the decision, but she hadn't seen Zara since Idejjen was pronounced dead.

It was now only a few days away from the ceremony and Idarah managed to invite a considerable amount of people and was now, although she'd sent notification earlier, trying to find Zara to make sure she knew.

((OOC: I've been gone for way too long. Sorry about that. Do you want the interview to continue?))

Catharis mulled over the question for a few moments, weighing the positives and negatives. It would be good for her to get a job as a hunter for this organization. She was young, but she was a good hunter.She traced one of the stripes on her pale face with her gloved hand before replying in a purring voice.

Idarah - can you post with Catharis please)

Zara listened as Darex spoke of Sabian, hoping that the slight tearing at her eyes would be construed as left over from her tears of happiness at hearing Brina's news. She nodded her head as he suggested she finish her training, "Yes, one day I might. As for my daughters, if they wish to be trained I'll certainly let them." She took his contact details, nodding and saying farewell to Darex as he took his leave. Turning back to her daughters she spoke, "Lets go and see Aunty Brina." The three of them headed off towards the medical center. Arriving they were informed that Brina was asleep. They each took up a chair around her bedside, waiting for her to wake.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Skye smiled as Darex joined them. She laughed at his comment, "Word travels fast. Ahh... you were with Ms Nargal? Interesting..." She grinned at him as he put his arm around Darla. She was concerned at how quiet Darla had been. Sure she had a lot to think about, especially with the baby and how she was going to tell Darex about him becoming a father. Her friend had seemed frustrated while Skye had been healing Brina ... she wondered if Darla would like some other medical training, something she could do without the use of the Force. One thing Skye hadn't mentioned was that it was possible for her friend to regain her use of the Force... if only she dropped the barriers she had built in so many layers around herself... and with what Skye had discovered, Darla would have to regain her use of the Force if she wanted to keep her sensitive child in check...
Arriving at the ship, Skye let the droids go in first, soon following them inside along with Darex and Darla. She could feel Emily's presence in the galley as she made her way through to the cockpit. The Healer went through all of the pre-flight checks and started up Serenity. She gained permission to leave and lifted off the landing pad, turning her ship around and headed out into the black void beyond the lights of the Casino. She programmed in a short random jump then put in the co-ordinates for Corellia. Serenity soon shot into hyperspace to complete their journey.
(Darex or Darla can post arriving at Corellia if you like)
When she woke, everything was better. She could tell instantly. She felt better than she had felt in...a long, long time. It was funny; she hadn't realized how long the disease had been sapping her energy and wearing her down. She had only noticed it when it had progressed to actual pain. But now that it was gone...she felt light and free and full of new energy.
Opening her eyes, Brina saw her family gathered around her. A big smile grew on her face. "Hey guys!" she greeted them. "It's so good to see you all!" She reached up and gave Melanie a hug, then rotated to Kalyani, and finally Zara. "Wait a minute, let me sit up." She adjusted the hospital bed so that she was in a seated position. "There! I feel like a new woman. That Jedi...she did amazing work."
She fell silent, but it didn't last. She was brimming with new happiness. "Oh, it's so good to see you all again!"
"Hi Bri... glad your back with us..." Zara took her turn in hugging her good friend, then stood back to look at her. "You look so much better. The Healer has worked wonders with you..."
It was good to see Brina looking so much better than she had been for a long time. The two girls gave their Aunt another hug, one on either side of the bed, neither wanting to let their aunt go for long.
Zara sat back in her chair and grinned up at Brina, "I gather it won't be long before you put all of those new ideas of yours into practice. I can't wait to see what you come up with." She would back her friend's ideas all the way.
Brina grinned. "Definitely. You know those ideas I've had for a new upscale hotel/conference center?" She was sure she had mentioned the idea to Zara before. She tapped a datapad by the side of her bed. "Being sick gives you plenty of time to get the logistics and plans for something like that worked out."
She really did have high hopes for this new place. From the way she envisioned it, it would be perfect and fill a definite hole in the market. Lucrative and profitable as well as entertaining sounded like the best of all worlds to her.
"But actually, before I get back to work, what I really need is a shower and to get out of this hospital bed." She slowly swung her legs over the side of the bed, then rose to her feet, waving off the protestations of the med droid on duty. "Zar, will you help me?"
The next few days went really well for Brina. She was feeling infinitely better, and took the time to catch up on all that she had missed being sick. The Casino was doing very well, and Brina knew the time had come to check up on her new pet project station. As she sat at her desk on afternoon, she pulled up the blueprints:
Its center is a two-kilometer-wide disc, 300 meters deep. The center contains hotels, shops, and gardens. From the disc are quarter-kilometer-long spokes, each which end in luxury pods that are 40 meters thick and 250 meters across. Six are disc-shaped and six are triangular, with the variants alternating. The six that are triangular are Force-neutral zones, lined with ysalamiri. Each pod can be self-sustaining if need be, able to be completely shut off and detached from the main hub in case of an emergency. Each pod has two turbolaser batteries mounted on it for defense.
The station itself is extremely luxurious, with the main idea being that it's for the wealthy to have lavish celebrations and private vacations. The cheapest sections available have a daily rent that is the same as the yearly earning of a middle-class family. It is protected by Link security and ThorpeCorp security Lyger-class droids.
The most recent reports on the project said that it was almost done. Brina was excited to see her dream finally in person; she made plans to visit it as soon as she received the word that it was finished.
She was even toying with a name for the station--the Kat Nargal Memorial Resort. She smiled. Zara, she thought, would approve.
He opened his eyes.
There was a residual entity at the back of his mind, as if he had awoken to find its shadow rushing from him, only just catching a glimpse of its departing form. He turned his head, and so close was his face to the actual entity that his nose brushed against the bark of the tree. He was still in the domed gardens. He was still in the Casino. He was alone.
He felt that last truth as if it was whispered from the water beneath him, and he saw the waves stir about him in some kind of confusion. What had happened that he should be here and not in the company he remembered? He heard suddenly in the pouch at his side a beep, and his hand brought up into vision the datapad his master had given to him. The date of entry was not the same day he had arrived. Hadn't he come to the gardens with Emily? Or had he not? Or had something happened that they could not find him?
He lifted a hand, and the calloused warmth of that hand found the gnarled comfort of the great willow tree beside him, and some tingle came into his body at that touch that told him all he needed to know. His master had sent him to the garden with his first task, to choose an object of study and understanding, and to learn all that could be learned about it. He looked at the datapad again, and saw that his entry had been the day before, and that he had described in the fullest sense””as he could comprehend it””the physical makeup of the willow beside him. He had entered also how it made him feel, and what it reminded him of, and most every though that he now supposed had come to him then when faced with such a magnificent focus.
But now, with that touch, he remembered that he had sunk into the energy of the tree and had met it and spent””apparently””a good deal of time conversing with its essence. Was this the right word? He glanced again to the regal structure and it seemed to him as if it bent toward him slightly, an affirmation. He recalled a feeling of having danced with this tree, but also that the dance had been interrupted. And he remembered that he had brought into that communion of essences the memory of dead flowers, splayed about in a horrible mosaic as if they had shriveled and rusted and withered away in agony. He had brought with him screams, and a soft whisper of death and a crushing sensation on his shoulder, and torment and pain.
And the tree had labored to dance with him until the pain became something else, and what it had become Nishant could not describe to himself. He realized one thing, one most important thing: he was very hungry. And then he realized another thing, and that was where he should be at the moment.
Awkward as his situation might be to describe, he resolved to be direct in his action and pursue his goal systematically. He would leave the garden””which he was already doing, having stood and pressed his hands warmly against the tree one last time””and find something to eat along the way to a transport that could take him to Corellia, where he knew his master had intended to go. He couldn't at this point remember exactly where he would have to go once he arrived there, but he felt that it would come to him accordingly.
And so he was on a transport within the next hour and was headed for a planet to which he had never been, but which he felt he would enjoy.
It seemed such a blur now since Zara had helped Brina to the shower following the Jedi healing her. Daily she checked on her best friend, and if she didn't check more than once, her daughters did, not that she needed checking on any longer. Her friend looked like a new woman, glowing with good health. She headed through the adjoining door into Brina's office. Zara beamed at her as she pulled the chair over, "You're looking better than I've ever seen you." Noticing the look on Brina's face she asked, "How are the plans coming along?"
Brina smiled at Zara as her partner entered. "Everything is great. I just reviewed a report that the resort is in it's final stages of completion now. In fact, it should be done by the end of the week."
Her smile widened into a grin. "In fact, I was thinking we should take a little trip out there to officially open it up. And...it still needs a name. I was thinking the Kat Nargal Memorial Resort."
Her eyes met her friends'. "What do you think?"
"The Kat Nargal Memorial Resort..." Zara mused the name over, her eyes shutting for barely a moment as she did so. She missed her twin terribly though hardly ever let it show publicly. She knew that Brina missed Kat also... "Yes... I think it's fitting. The Kat Nargal Memorial Resort it is..."
"As for going out there... I'm looking forward to seeing it. When do you want to leave?" Zara figured her daughters would be excited to go along as well, "The girls would enjoy the trip out as well."
"We can go as soon as we're ready," Brina said, rising. "Everything is ready there. Let's go give it a grand opening. We can take the Mynock. I'll meet you guys in the hanger."
She locked down her computer and made her way to her room. Grabbing a few necessities, including some more formal wear for the actual small ceremony that she knew was going to take place, she threw them all into her small traveling bag that she used for short trips.
That done, she made the necessary notifications to the staff informing them of her and Zara's departure and destination before heading to the hanger. She arrived before Zara and the girls, and spent the time warming up her beloved ship. It had been too long since she had been behind the controls, and she couldn't help stroking them fondly.
Soon the others arrived, and once the girls had settled in the main cabin and Zara had joined her in the cockpit, the Crazy Mynock lifted from it's berth and was in hyperspace a moment later.
  • 10 months later...
((I have IM'ed permission from Zara to bring the Link back and to RP her a little bit in this post.))
As soon as the business of the resort was flooding in, Idarah considered her presence there, merely a consolation. So, during one of Zara's visits back to the Casino, Idarah hopped aboard the shuttle and joined them.
However, she was greeted with a series of doldrums, because ever since the Resort opened, the Link hadn't seen much business. It had gotten to the point where Zara had to use the Resort's profits to help the Casino in its regular maintenance. Either that, or she had to dip into the Casino's vault to get funding.
So, Zara maintained a routine visit to the Link every once in a while and would rotate through the administrative offices, organizing conferences in hopes for new creative ideas, but nothing seemed to come in. Idarah tried to chime in with a few creative nuances, even though she hadn't the slightest clue as to what the Link had done in the past, but that didn't stop Idarah's enthusiasm.
Brina still seemed to be out and neither Idarah or Zara had heard from her in a while, but there wasn't news of her death on the holonet so both Idarah and Zara held faith that she would return eventually.
Since Brina still wasn't around though, and Zara was preoccupied with trying to find new ideas as well as taking care of her kids, Idarah was left to maintain the Link and the Resort. Zara gave Idarah the security permissions once owned by Idejjen and even gave her his old name tag as a keepsake, but Idarah hadn't the first idea on how to run a business or utilize the security systems and protocol. However, she was a machine.
It took her a few days, but even though Idarah wasn't much for violence and she had trouble firing any weapons except the minor EMP she had in her chassis, in time Idarah tapped her systems into the Link's security network and was able to spot intruders quickly and effectively dispatch the people necessary to take advantage of it.
She even helped to reduce the maintenance costs by using several of her alternate functions to help around the Link.
In the meantime, The Link was still providing the same services and was open to any and all visitors.
A soft beep signaled Idarah's attention to an incoming ship. The profile of the ship downloaded into her mind through a localized Datapad and the pilot's profile was immediately scanned for a approval.
The whole process took a few minutes, all considering, but when she was done, Idarah tapped her internal comms and sent a signal to the incoming ship.
"Hello and welcome to the Golden Link Casino Zalis, you are welcome anything and everything that the Casino has to offer. Enjoy your stay. There will be an associate to greet you at our main lobby and they will provide more help once you dock."
A small message was sent through the Link security system to the front desk, alerting the secretary to keep an eye out for Zalis as he came in.
The voice on the other end of the comm was beautiful and female. There was a strong moment when he was tempted to turn on his charm upon arrival, but with the word associate mentioned, he thought better of it. If all of the Holonet reports were correct, this place would have enough relaxation and excitement to keep Zalis here for months on end. That was of course if no jobs popped up for him. Bringing Nimbus in, he landed her without and problems. Quickly shutting the engines down, he left his most prized and valuable possession in lockdown mode until his return. He then made his way to the main lobby where he should run into this associate he was told about.
Idarah walked around for a few moments until a small bing emitted from her internal communication system. With a small internal clicking adjustment, Idarah managed to take hold of the transmission as soon as it was received.
Miss Idarah? A secretary asked quietly.
Yes?
The secretary sighed a little and cleared her throat. I'm sorry, but there are no people available to service Mr. Krales at the moment.
Idarah took a moment to process the new information and immediately headed in the opposite direction toward one of the Link's front rooms that were a direct channel from the docks to the rest of the complex.
Oh, well... Then I guess I have to deal with it myself. It is no issue. Thank you for letting me know though and I will be sure to get back to you if I need anything else.
With the last few words still echoing in her comms, Idarah turned on her hover boots, adjusted them slightly and made her way down the halls. She wasn't that far away from the front room in particular, but she had to make up for lost time, it wasn't considerate to leave a customer waiting.
Once Idarah was within a relatively safe distance to the security officers that ordered Mr. Krales to remove all of his weaponry, she shut off her hover boots and reintegrated them back into her internal systems.
She then looked in earnest toward the Nautolan and 'smiled,' even though her non-existent mouth was hidden by a glittering metal jaw. For a few moments her glowing blue eyes seemed a little brighter though and as the man stepped over toward where the associate would have been, Idara held out a metal hand to greet him.
"Hello, my name is Idarah, and I am caretaker of the Link while the owners are engaged in other affairs. I am sorry not only for the wait you had to go through, but I am sorry we didn't have enough staff to greet you."
Idarah paused for a moment, withdrawing her hand from what she hoped was an adequately accommodating handshake, but she still kept eye contact. "Is there anything you would like to know, anywhere you would like to go, anything you'd like to do, or shall I go and let you, decide?"
Zalis turned around upon hearing the familiar voice from the comm. His excitement jumped at the chance to turn up his charm, but was quickly disappointed upon finding a cyborg instead. Not much gave her away as one, as the machine was clearly well maintained, but there was enough for someone experienced in dealing with cyborgs to pick up on. Deciding not to be too disappointed, he smiled in his typical fashion and spoke with his charm anyways.
"I am very new to this facility. Perhaps maybe you could give me some sort of grand tour of the place?"
Not entirely sure if it would fly, but it would help him for future references. That, and he was a little interested in what the wealthy did with their time and money, as hopefully, he would soon be in their exact position.
At the male Nautolan's initial dismay, written through his declination in excitement from 00:01:00 in the conversation to 00:01:05, Idarah was apologetic. It was hard in a social context for people to take her seriously, because she was a piece of technology. A considerably complex and lively piece of technology, but a piece of technology nonetheless. Her only real organic pieces were built inside her, so from the outside she looked like a droid and hence was typically greeted in the same way.
She was even teased some times by smaller children, but she often dismissed their taunting as illogical and a waste of time to speculate upon.
The analytical comprehension of Zalis' face indicated however that he was interested in attempting to make light of the conflicted social nature.
"I apologize Mr. Krales, that I am not what you expected." Idarah's voice was very formal, but with a little bit of sparky flare to the higher notes of her receiver. Then, with the admission of Zalis' submission to the circumstances of the interaction, Idarah's blue eyelets sparkled under the light and a sprightly bout of happiness consumed her.
"However", she said, with a very warm and spunky fire behind her voice, "if you'd like tour, I would more than willingly oblige."
Idara walked a little closer and slid her arm in around his, if he let her and then started to walk off westward through the complex. Once her droid outer shell touched the Nautolan's arm, her grip and arm compensated to suit his height, his build and the temperature of his skin. Her touch was simple yet graceful and even seemed to tense at times akin to what might be present in a real arm, but it was clear to the naked eye that the arm was metal, especially since the metal was smooth and shiny.
For the next few hours they walked; or however long, based upon the continuing interest of her customer or the particular level of acuity in Zalis' awareness of what she was saying. Occasionally she would look toward him and determine exactly how much information he was retaining, if he was truly listening, and what he was more interested in if there were any particular elements that piqued his interest. Then, if she noticed anything in particular drove his attention, she would document it for later in case he wanted to return.
As to where they actually went, well that was just a small subroutine that had worked itself into Idarah's programming over the past few years. First, she would prioritize what might be his most immediate interest based on dress, occupation and what not. So she led him by a number of gambling areas in the force and non force areas; pazaak and other games proceeded in the background, but a number of tables were empty due to the small amount of Casino traffic. After the gambling though, Idarah took Zalis to a number of bars, the swoop track, and from there proceeded to show him the rest of the complex, unless otherwise impeded by Zalis due to his more immediate interests.
Zalis kept his charm about him, even when he was doing nothing. The tour was for the most part well informed. The facility itself was very grand in design, but then again, it wasn't hard for him to be impressed when the last facility he saw a lot of was the Outer Heaven. So anything compared to that run down facility would be grand. Idarah was a very good host and helped show him all of the hyped up parts that would draw most people here, the bars and credit pits. Smiling as they came to a finish, he turned towards her with all of his charm.
"Thank you so very much for this tour. It was very helpful. How much of your profits come through an actual stay in the hotel versus the bars and credit pits?"
Idarah could calculate the efficiency of her tour by the reaction of her customer when the process reached fruition. It wasn't too difficult to tell due to his subtle reactions throughout the process, but it could have always been a fluke in her optics. She was glad to see it wasn't.
His question though seemed a little shaky as to the jurisdiction it allowed. Only Zara or Brina were really allowed to give that type of information out and even then they didn't opt to do it. Idarah looked around a little, trying not to appear like she was ignoring him, but trying to formulate a simple answer for him.
"Well... Mr. Krales, the bulk of our profits are made on an actual stay. The credit pits as well as the other attractions add up to what the Link typically makes in a fiscal year. As to how much that is, I am not really authorized to give out that information."
Idarah watched as a couple of people walked by, going about their day without much notice to anyone else. They weren't anyone in particular, but Idarah made it a habit to check on as many customers as she could, because their satisfaction was paramount.
"If there is nothing else, will we be checking you into the hotel today? Or, would you like to do something else?"
The Golden Link Casino, an extremely grand space station that mostly attracted the very wealthy who were eager to gamble away their vast assets or simply relax in the splendor of a well-designed resort. It was one of the greatest feats of architecture in the galaxy, and no expense had been spared. In its prime during the war, the Link had been an economic powerhouse. Perhaps it was because the war was stressful, or that fortunes could be made or lost in such times. At any rate, the Link had not been quite as successful since then and had merged with an Artisan's Guild, it seemed, although the prestige of this location had not at all dimmed.
Vothe Kyrik had only been there once, and it had been very brief. This time, he hoped to stay for a bit longer. He signaled the station that he was making his approach, his civilian transponder labeling him a human male from Coruscant and a small business owner. That wasn't quite true, but it would all make sense once he explained his situation to someone on board.
Soon he landed and, leaving his weapons on board his ship, since they'd never make it through security anyway, departed the vessel. He quickly approached the front desk--thankfully, the line wasn't long. Presently he was wearing a brown traveler's cloak over plain civilian clothing and wearing black boots. His head was uncovered, his long black hair comfortably loose. "Excuse me," he said when he got to the front desk. "I've recently found myself out of work. I have an excellent resumé in business and in security, and I was wondering if there's someone here I could talk to about potentially working for the Link?"
Zalis wasn't sure how to react to being given so little, but perhaps maybe the actual owners of the facility kept such information to themselves. Either way, it didn't matter. He needed to find some work, or else his stay here would end up being not as long as he wanted. And staying in the hotel as it was offered to him wouldn't help him earn much. Shaking his head with a smile, he responded politely to Idarah.
"No that's all right. I'll just spend some time in the cantina. If I do decide to check in, I'll stop by the front desk."
Zalis almost immediately turned and left her in pursuit of one of his greatest desires and passion. Drinking.
Idarah's calculations weren't particularly fruitful when it came to the Nautolan's speech pattern. She was conflicted on what to do next, but she got another communication on her internal comm. Someone was here looking for employment. It was a proverbial conflict saver, but she still felt contentious about the predicament. Something in her internal programming wouldn't let her forget that she thrived on customer satisfaction, so she forwarded an electronic Visa for a few free rounds of drinks to Mr. Krales and a reminder that if he was looking for anything beyond drinking that he could in fact talk to her.
Meanwhile, the droid activated her hover boots and began zooming toward the indicated lobby, hopefully before the man lost patience with the front room staff.
She prepared an introduction, but in the light of her previous engagement, decided to scrap the previous mantra of her designated greeting subroutine. She deemed it a little too practiced and figured that instead of a machine, being just a machine, she wanted to try and show more of the human's knack for impulsiveness.
Coming to the lobby in question, she found the man who was inquiring about the job. He seemed interesting in his age and for some reason seemed a little familiar. Before lapsing into her original documentation and research though, she halted the program, before it could begin virtually vetting him. She wanted to see what this man wanted and perhaps what he was like, before she contemplated turning him away.
The droid deactivated her hover boots around the corner, her metal boots sliding back into place so she could walk, and then started right in his direction.
"Hello, my name is 1d4-r4h or Idarah for short. I understand that you would like to apply for a job. In security, right? If I am not mistaken," Idarah said, her thoughts momentarily dwelling on her older brother Idejjen's 'death'. "We have just recently lost a valued security employee and are in need of a new one. So, if you could come with me, we can start with an interview and I will see about building up the paperwork if you are indeed the man for the job."
Idarah placed her right arm out, indicating a nearby office that was unoccupied. An office that Idarah often used because it was retrofitted for her and her computer needs. It didn't really have a name on the door or on the panel outside, but the only key cards aside from security's that got into this door, were Zara, Brina's and Idarah's.
The droid walked carefully into the room, hopefully with their new prospective employee in pursuit, and prompted him to sit with the wave of her hand. She looked toward a chair opposite the one nestled comfortably at a desk and nodded to it as she took a seat of her own in the one at the desk.
"Now, what has brought on your interest in employment at the Link?" Idarah asked in a more mature voice than before, as if her vocabulator dropped an octave and her personality changed to fit the mood.
Vothe was pleased that the Link had been prompt in bringing out personnel suited to the task at hand. It showed him that, despite the enormous size of the company, they knew how to get things done. Sometimes, companies were so large that everything was constricted by bureaucracy. Here, it was clear that they had been well-organized to take advantage of their size and make it an asset rather than a liability. It was professionalism that the galaxy needed.
He was even happier that the being who had offered him an interview was Idarah, the very person--or, droid, rather--he had been hoping to meet by coming here. "Yes, security is my forte," he said, his voice so light and so finely controlled that it was almost musical. As he followed the droid, his footfalls made almost no sound--indeed, the rustling of his cloak was more audible. "I can handle myself in a fight, and yet I have the analytical skills that can help me organize a defense as well."
They found their way into an office, where he took the offered seat. "I've come to the Link because of the magnificence that is this Casino," he answered the question that had been fielded. "Your security here seems excellent, despite one black spot that was a heist now far in your past. I would like to both learn from and compliment your system here--although I am quickly becoming accomplished, I am still young and only recently did I leave my homeworld."
Vothe didn't know if Idarah could tell the difference between an Anzati and a human, for the difference were very subtle. As a droid, she probably had scanners, but doing a full bioscan probably wasn't her first order of business when meeting someone. It didn't really matter--in this situation, he had nothing to hide.
"I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your previous security employee. I hope nothing bad happened to him?" It was all polite talk from Vothe for now, making that good first impression. He could slip comfortably into any role he needed, something that made him both a resourceful ally and a cunning enemy.
Idarah listened and processed the information she was given quickly and succinctly. Her internal computing software activated and triggered a series of attachments that linked her into the mass Golden Link Mainframe and the Holonet. Then she began to subtly vet the man as the interview went.
Her visual analysis started with the physical outer features and continued with any other possible internal functions she could see. Then she began to cross reference what she could of this identification with any possible employee or agent from galactic criminal agencies, religious groups, or law enforcement offices.
It seemed the applicant wasn't finished with his answer though, so Idarah kept watching and nodding while her mechanical attachments settled in.
When she was satisfied with the amount of processing power and the progress of her program, she looked back toward the potential applicant and 'smiled'. ((She doesn't have a mouth per se))
"Our last security captain was a highly valued employee to the proprietor and although he has passed on, we need to fill his spot somehow." Idarah's moment of memory was pushed behind a blank mechanical expression. "The heist was an unfortunate mistake and although we tried to catch the individual, it didn't end well. However, he only stole from the secondary vault, which is fortunate."
Idarah paused for a moment, as more information slipped into her head as she went. "I trust that as our security agent, you will hold your responsibility to the Link above all else, including any other organizations you might have been in in the past?"
