System: Gacerian

Description: Tempay, a temperate little rock of rolling hills and winding streams, is one of Gacerian's moons, and orbits that particular planet 180 degrees from the position of its sister moon, Fortay. Tempay was once the site of an Alliance scout base ”“ a base which was maintained even after the Battle of Endor. Located at the moon's north pole, the base lies directly on the terminus line - thus, it can monitor the planet below, and the open space beyond, from a single location...

A lone freighter touches down on a rather decrepit landing pad...

Twin blasts of smoke jet out from the transport's underside as a ramp lowers and several rather diminutive droids appear. The droids, none any larger than a human child of about five, immediately begin to unload the transport ”“ with surprising displays of strength, the droids carry several enormous metal crates and canisters over to one the old base's side entrances.

The ghost of Hale Akturus, once a Jedi Master, watches from atop the old base.

Ara's ship landed softly around the old base, giving a loud creak as the landing gear deployed. The Jedi winced at the noise. She really needed to do some repairs to her ship. However, there were more important things at hand. Mentally making a to-do list, she did what she thought most important first.

She pulled up her database and began making highly encrypted comms to her fellow Jedi. It was time that they all came to their new home.

Aryian's ship touched down, next to Ara's and the unmarked freighter.

The young Knight stepped out, ready for any challenges this world would bring him. Including the trials for his mastery, he thought, as he walked in the base.

He easily located the largest conference room, most likely going to be used for the next meeting of the Jedi Council, or what was left of them.

He needed to find a master...

Deviating from his previous intended course to Tammuz-an, Hou-Jo traveled to Tempay. His ship flew down quickly and a dirt cloud flew from under the ship as the ship landed. The cockpit opened and Hou-Jo stepped out of the cockpit. He looked at the old base, but then immediately turned his attention to Ara.

"Master Kaipi." He nodded respectfully toward her. "May I ask, if this old base is to be used, or if our operations are starting from scratch?"

Ara looked at the old base with a slightly lopsided smile. "I suppose, with a few modifications, we could use it. It would be better than starting over from the beginning."

She tilted her head to one side. "You don't object to our new 'home,' do you? I have this feeling that we're meant to be here." Ara played with the lightsaber hilt of her new sword. "I'm not sure why, but I feel this is a new beginning for the Jedi, in a good way."

Scrutinizing the base once more, she asked, "Do you know who else is on their way? I contacted as many Jedi as I could, but whether or not they will be able to come, and when, I haven't a clue, being by myself for so long."

Malin touches down in his ship, feeling weary and exhausted. After his own limited part in the Coruscant battle, he spent his time chasing ghosts- literally and figuratively- going after Imperial remenants who committed exceptional atrocities on duty and would continue doing so unless brought to justice in one form or another.

The sensation of straying on the edge of a great pit occured to Malin as he walked the way of a Ral'tath Blademaster, drawing subtly upon the darkside- but without the want for domination or power. Malin knew all too well that the darkness flowed in his veins as a result of his own cursed heritage from the Sith rituals that created him and whether he willed it or not, the dark side was part of him and would be a latent influence to be fought and contained.

The sensation deminished as Malin entered a calm, drawing on the feeling of the force and the light from this base.

It is good. is the conclusion he reaches as he steps out of his ship and offers his hands in the construction of the Jedi's latest HQ.

"I feel trouble from Haruun Kal through the Force. I had left there not to long ago, there was a struggle on the planet. I was hoping to leave Haruun because I knew it to be vunerable since we arrived from the Jedi Dojo. I had plotted to relocate from there to Tammuz-an, but that did not work as I had planned. The Jedi there are probably incapble of leaving because of their struggle. We cannot help them though. Speaking of Borleais and Tammuz-an, since SEED had attacked the Dojo, the location has obviously been compromised, and I personally think it unsafe to allow padawan training to commence there. Since this place will be serving as the new stronghold, I suggest that a new Dojo be put on Tammuz-an, since the planet has already been scouted. I offer to lead in the construction and/or reconstruction of our base. I'm quite good at designing floor plans to make any situation fool proof from disaster, or almost fool proof."

Ara smiled at Malin and gave him a bow.

"It's wonderful to see you here, Malin. We were just discussing the base plans." She looked over the old base, her hands on her hips. "Part of me feels it would be better if we all stayed at one base for the time being, to regroup our order and get our ideals back to what they once were. We should build up this base and its defenses first, make sure we're settled, then we can expand, so to speak." Ara smiled widely. "I would greatly appreciate it, though, if you both would help to fortify this base. I have a few ideas for some...unique defenses, similar to what I once implemented in a Jedi base a long while back."

She looked over to Malin, then back at Hou-Jo. "Any ideas for other defenses before the others get here?"

The ghost of Hale Akturus materializes before Ara-Lai Kaipi, Hou-Jo Poleb, and Malin Kyrell.

"It is good to see you all, my friends."

Aryian, bored, wanders off to find someone, sensing several powerful presences in the vicinity. He walks in on the group, just as Hale makes his presence known.

"Might I suggest some sort of energy shield to cover the base ”“ a device to protect this place from any sort of orbital bombardment..."

Aryian thought a moment,, before replying to him from behind, causing the four Jedi to turn and look at him.

"Well, I thought I saw a generator on the way in here, but it was pretty old. It would take some doing before it was up and running, but I could work on that."

While he waited in the brief period for a reply, the brief thought of his mastery being pulled further and further away from him echoed throughout his mind, making him distraught.

Ara thought for a moment. "That would be wonderful, if you could do that. We'd have to make sure the generator was protected as well, to make sure that someone doesn't just blow that up and ruin the whole system."

She let out a small sigh as she looked over the old base. "So, defense shield, my own 'security measures,' and, well...the usual I guess, huh?"

Aryian bowed, showing respect.

"Yes, master, I shall get on it immediately."

There was no doubt that Ara was in command now, the way she took hold of the situation. Man, poor Keiran... He found the generator shortly after walking a ways. It was old, but still in fair condition. Only a bit of tweaking...Aryian grinned almost evilly as he saw the tool kit beside it. Antique tools. Perfect for a job like this. Aryian had a long history with mechanic stuff and programming, and it was finally being put to some use.

Shedding his outer robes, he got to work, as various grunts and clangs, and the occasional loud bang and curse, emanated from the generator room.

Ara pursed her lips. "Really, just call me Ara. The whole 'master' thing...I'd rather have you guys feel comfortable talking to me."

After this was said, she smiled. "Now that that part is being taken care of, are there any other ideas?"

((OOC: So you went ahead and landed for me, eh? Danke, mein Herr... ))

When Ben'a Solo finally awoke, he could feel through his bed that the ship had been landed and powered down. I must have been out for quite a while, he thought to himself as he swung his legs 'round onto the floor. A brief glance at the cronometer confirmed this; he had been out for a full 48 standard hours. Almost immediately, a ravenous hunger descended upon him, and he bolted back to the small galley and began wolfing down food almost indiscriminantly as his energy levels returned to him.

"Thank the Force..." he muttered to no one in particular as he polished off one last nerf-steak, heated in his hands through that aforementioned power. As he stood up to gather himself again, Ben'a heard a sudden burst of beeps and warbles as Ayevit scuttled up to him. The droid was distinctly pleased to see that his organic friend was intact, and the Jedi smiled warmly back at him.

"Yes indeed Ayevit, it is good to be intact, more or less," he replied. Walking back to where he had slept, Ben'a realized then that his family heirloom, his uncle's lightsaber that he had pulled from the depths of Kashyyyk, was in desperate need of repair. Upon closer examination, he was relieved to see that the focusing crystal was intact, however the power supply and outer casing were damaged very heavily. The casing could be repaired, but the power source was another matter; with a sigh, he put the weapon in his pocket and exited the ship, his droid close on his heals.

The moon of Tempay struck him almost immediately in its undisturbed peacefullness. Apart from the old Rebel Alliance base that was here, the rest of the world seemed to consist of grasslands; rolling hills parted by a vast network of rivers and streams of fresh water. Where he was right now seemed to Ben'a to be fixed in a state of warm sunset, which he knew, as an experienced spacer, meant that they were on the terminator at the moon's north pole. As he tore his eyes from the landscape and made his way into the base to find the rest of the Jedi, he called back into the ship.

"Anyone not already out of here, you should probably get acquainted with this place. Looks like we'll be here for a while." Which was, of course, a good thing... "Bron, whenever you're ready, come and find me and we'll begin your training."

Satisfied that he would not be needed for the time being, the Jedi Knight made his way into the base to meet whomever was in charge at this time. Following his senses, he soon came upon Ara-Lai Kaipi, one of the Jedi Masters he had met on Coruscant. With her was the bluish spirit of a man he had never met; a former Jedi Master to be sure, but his name and history was unknown to Ben'a.

"Greetings, Masters," he said politely as he gave a small bow. "Jedi Knight Ben'a Solo reporting in; the base at Haruun Kal has been evacuated, and I await your next command..."

Ish's ship touched down in a clearing near where the force signatures of his fellow jedi could be sensed. With is padawan at his side, he exited his ship and made the short walk over to where the jedi masters were confereing.

"Is there anything I can do to help master? I appologize for my lateness." Ish bowed to them...."May I also introduce my new padawan Jared Evans"

((No, I was here on my own ship before you got here. I just played the "conscience" of the people who try to powerplay ysalamiri, and told the hopefuls to assume they're here.))

A loud curse tried to echo throughout the base, yet Aryian dampened the air arround him, giving the effect of screaming into a pillow. He rubbed the large bump on his head, next to several others. When he was younger...

He crawled out of the assembly, and banged on it. Nothing happened. He looked down, realizing that his foot had tracked out a wire, and that had to be fixed. Sighing deeply, he dove back into the works of the giant generator, and fixed the problem.

When he came back out he tried it, and it worked. Ara's Idea had inspired him, and part of the shield's power was siphoned off and concentrated aroung the generator, giving it it's own personal shield, as well as base defenses. Now, it could only be shut off by the force, because someone would get a nasty shock from the field if they tried to reach for the control panel.

And the recent events at the other base gave him one more idea...

He ran off to the cargo rooms of the old base, machiene lubricant dripping off his inner robes. He caught a glimpse of Ben'a as he walked the halls, talking with the rest of the masters. Good. He thought his friend could take care of himself.

Scorp brought his ship in for a landing he landed on a nice enough spot. Then leaving the chair he had been sitting in he went to the cargo hold and produced two swords.

"Here you go the heavier one shall be you traing sword. If you notice the blade is almost weightless and all the weight is in the hilt. IT is to build up you strengh. This second blade is just a normal vibrosword It will be used as a weapon."

Handing them both to her he then escorted her out of his ship and went over to the Masters with out saying a word. HE didn't feel the need to but then he rememebered he had a padawan with him.

"Good day Master I am sorry for arriving at this late hour and, I am willing to help out in anyway that I can. However may I introduce a new member among the ranks of the jedi. This is my Padawan Lady Kayla."

*A lone jedi starfighter enters the space around the planet Tempay and quickly makes it way down to the surface. It was the last ship off of Haruun Kal. The ship landed and jedi master Kirlocca got out and walked towards Ara and the group standing before, and around Ara-Lai Kaipi.*

"Masters, the Haruun Kal jedi base is no longer. I took the liberty to blow it up before I left. The group that attacked us there seemed to be nothing more then Bounty hunters. They must think that since Ara and Keiran, who has been captrued, have a price on thier head, that whoever put the bounty on you two, must have a bounty on the rest of the jedi. They were un-successful."

*The wookiee turned towards Ara.*

"Ara, with your permission...I am letting Jareth come to this planet. He has proven himself to me...and I know if you and the rest of the council would talk with him...he can gain your trust."

Ben'a spoke at Kirlocca's words.

"I had the opportunity, before the recent battle, to meet Jareth and engage in a friendly practice duel. I can attest to the fact that he has parted ways with his dark past, and helped me to secure the rest of the Jedi at Haruun Kal when it was attacked, and indeed, he risked his life to hold off the enemy forces. I trust him, and I hope that you can as well."

Stepping back, the Jedi Knight fell silent once more.

Jurha yawned terribly wide and loud from the copilot's seat. She stretched her arms and felt something between her shoulder blades bump against the chair back. She reached in her hood and pulled out Opa. She switched him back on.

"I can see from the drastic change in suroundings that our situation has changed," he said as he took to the air and hovered infront of her.

Jurha leaned back and cross her legs, "We're on Tempay at the new Jedi base. Haruun Kal was attacked by bounty hunters, we evacuated then destroyed the place."

"I consider my self grateful to be in your company then Jurha," Opa said.

"Thanks," Jurha smiled, "You're welcome too."

"Miss Jurha," Opa began carefully, "As you are aware I am a medical droid that was part of a larger unit at the Haruun Kal facility, in fact I am top of the line. Now that I have been seperated from that unit, which as well has been destroyed; I am with out a purpose."

Jurha put her face in her hand, "So? Sentient beings deal with it all the time. Not having a purpose, or at least an evident one."

"Well... My AI design is different from most droids. I was designed not to have memory wipes in fact doing so would ruin me. As a medical droid I was provided base knowledge of healing, but I also was given an enormous capacity to learn, store experince, and use that knowledge, much as most concious life forms do. I even have a bit of creativity."

"Oh my," Jurha said.

Opa continued either not detecting or ignoring Jurha's sarcasm. "As I am no longer within the medical facility, perhaps my nature could be changed to better suit you, hm?"

"How so?"

"To store information, provide you with insites you might not see your self."

"A glorified datapad?" Jurha asked.

Opa made the very human hmph again.

"I'm kidding. It would be useful Opa, but maybe later, okay?" Jurha said standing up.

"Very well," Opa said returning to Jurha's hood.

Jurha left Ben'a ship and walked out on the the new base. She sighed, no where near as humid as Haruun Kal, a bit of a relief. She walked around watching the other Jedi with her hands in her pockets. She found who appeared to be in charge. Ben'a was standing near her, another Jedi Master, and what appeared to be a ghost. Jurha had seen a few ghosts in her life time, but few with the clarity this one possessed. Normal ghosts could barely hold a shape, or could only manifest themselves as wind, a feeling, or temperature. This ghost must have been a great Jedi Master when it was living.

There appeared to be something going on so Jurha waited until there was a pause long enough for her to introduce her self. She stepped forward and bowed to the Masters. ((Ara-Lai Kaipi, Hou-Jo Poleb, and the ghost of Hale Akturus.))

"Masters, my name is Jurha Kahn. I have recently been knighted by my master Aryian Darkfire. I am here to serve the Order." she bowed again and stepped back beside Ben'a.

She felt she might of as well tied ribbons in her hair, worn a cute little girl dressed, curtised, and tap danced for them. She tried not to let her cheeks turn as red as her hair. Just wait and see.

Hou-Jo nodded, "Hello Jurha. I have an idea of how you may help. If you could, you can go to KVC enterprises and pick up defense turrets and other equipment we need to fortify our defenses. I will draw up a list of things for you.

1 Planetary defense shield to cover the base to repel direct air raids

3 Golan defense platforms

1 Interstellar hangar

2 ion cannons

2 power generators. One to power the shield and one to power the base

1 solar energy converter

Thermal charges

Escape pods that can run through blockades

General supplies.

I hope you can do this."

"I have an idea for a means of an evacuation in case of desperate times. I hope to erect a large tower in the middle of the base. I will create the illusion that this tower houses the Council Chamber, where in fact, the tower will launch escape pods and blindly fast speeds, fast enough to charge through any blockade. They will then land on a space hangar. The hangar will be defended by Golan platforms and an ion cannon. There will be an ion cannon on the surface to clear the paths of these escape pods. I will put a power generator above the ground, and make it heavily protected. Any enemy will believe this to power the shield, whereas this will only power the base. The shield generator will be underground to protect it from attack. I hope you agree with these ideas," Hou-Jo said to Ara. "Also, I am aware that this is probably not the best time, but I would like to talk to you about the matter of my masterhood whenever there's time for it."

Jurha bowed, "Thank you, sir. I'll do my best."

Jurha walked away with the list entered into her datapad. She'd need a ship to Courscant, and then there was bringing it all back. She used the Force and it guided her to Aryian.

"Oh, Master," she said sweetly. Aryian's back was to her and he appear focused on something else so he was more than likely surprised. "Could I borrow your ship?"

Ara nodded. "Sounds good to me, Hou-Jo. Aryian just finished the work on the shield, as far as I know, so it's not underground, but we can simply fortify the defenses on that part, somehow without making it obvious." Smiling, she added, "And as soon as we can, we'll get you to your trials, Hou-Jo. You deserve to become a master, in my opinion."

Ara looked over all the Jedi that had assembled around her and took a deep breath. Speaking to all of them, she said, "Everyone, I'm glad you could make it here. I'm sorry for what has happened on Haruun-kal, and that I wasn't there to help. We're here to start a new beginning for the Jedi, to get back to our roots, so to speak. The light calls us all now, and we need to be stronger than ever, to embrace that light."

She laughed at herself. "I don't mean to sound cheesy at all, but I am serious. We need to be able to defend ourselves well, and fight for that reason, but we need to also remember what the Jedi Order was founded on: defending those who cannot defend themselves and protecting those who need it. Remember, we are the Light. We are the good in the galaxy. We have to show that to others."

She sighed. "Now that that's over, we have to do this work on the base. Hou-Jo just ordered the supplies, so we'll have to wait for those, but I think we should scope out the base to see what we have and what else we'll need." Ara's gray eyes flicked over to Hale. "Unless you already know, Hale?"

"I reject your reality and substitute my own."

Ben'a listened carefully as Ara-Lai made her speech. While he agreed that the Jedi Order needed to get back to its roots, to regain their former purpose and glory, he also knew that the fight to liberate the galaxy was not yet over. Not by a longshot, and as he listened, something came to Ben'a...an odd feeling of trouble brewing somewhere, in a place he had not been long in leaving. Finally putting his finger on what this new feeling could mean, he spoke to the gathered Council.

"Master Ara, you are correct when you say that we need to reawaken our true purpose, however, there remains much to be done in the fight for Galactic freedom. The Federation Senate is reconveining to choose a new Chancellor, and we need to ensure that the votes are carried out appropriately, and without any compromise from agents of the Dark Side. In short, we need to send someone to closely monitor Coruscant, and to work with the new provisional government being set up there, both to ensure a pure election, and to liase with the new leaders once they have been chosen.

"If we do not act on this, we may be in greater danger then ever we have before. On the Holonet, none other then Jidai Geki has posted his intention to run for Federation Chancellor -- this simply cannot be allowed. I have -- we all have -- witnessed just what this man is capable of, and the ruthless methods which he himself has expressed fondness for. We must not abandon the galaxy, for if we do, it will surely abandon us."

Ben'a waited for a response from Ara, or anyone else in the room.

Aryian seemed engrossed in his work. Jurha shrugged and walked off to the landing pad and boarded Blur. Sooner she left, the sooner she'd get back, and everyone needed the supplies. It wasn't stealing. She was coming right back, Aryian would probably realize his ship was gone judding from the way he was repairing things.

After allowing Opa to plug into the shipboard computer and the navicomputer Jurha lifted off Tempay and departed for her destination.
