Our journey to ilum had proved fruitful. As frond, Kota, and Kel had each found crystals bonded to us with which we would build our sabers. Not only that, but we had also picked up a few extra passengers in a mysterious rakata called Aurora, A Givin named Ficcabin who seemed to have an interest in studying the jedi, and Adenna, my master's master. One thing was certain, the life of a jedi was never boring. Master Sandy had instructed us to salvage parts for our sabers in the ship's repair bay. With Tobias' permission of course. Having been eagerly awaiting this moment, Kel did not need to be told twice. When Kel arrived at the repair bay, he located a rifle. Using the force, Kel disassembled the fire arm piece by piece, carefully extracting the necessary components. Kel had initially planed on integrating the blaster he had looted on ilum into his saber to create a saber/pistol hybrid, But to do that he would need to build a double bar frame to contain the blaster components. and after looking over the repair bay, Kel doubted he would find enough materials to construct such a device. "Looks like saber 2.0 will have to wait until i can procure more parts. I'll have to make do with a standard saber for now." Kel said to himself. In the common room, master Tobias had relayed some grim news. apparently Coruscant had suffered an impact from one of it's moons. Not only that, the imperial ship yards on kuat were under siege. there was no doubt in anyone's mind that war would soon be upon us. "We should organize a relief effort for the denizens of Coruscant. in dark times like this the Jedi need to inspire hope so that fear and chaos doesn't spread. the people need to be reminded that the Jedi are protectors. And the council is more likely to agree to a peaceful mission. The sooner we can get involved the better."

    Ilum

Ironically the moment Kel had found a moment of peace, his mind was bombarded with visions of the Rakata and their dark history. the prospect of seeing ancient technology which normally excited him, was marred by deep bloodshed. Before kel had time to process the information that flooded unbidden into his mind, his fellow apprentice Frond had called out to him and reminded him of their original purpose in coming to this frozen world. "Yes... yes, you're right. i'm simply, overwhelmed." At that moment their master arrived at the chamber we had been in for who knows how long. she instructed Kel to let the force flow through him and through it, he would find a crystal calling out to him. "Thank you Master, I'll be along soon." he then left the chamber and wandered through the caverns until he came upon a small cave filled to the brim with crystaline structures that shined like stars in the night sky. "Ah druk. how am i supposed to find a crystal in all of this?" As he contemplated his current predicament he thought back to the events that had lead him to this point. so much of what kel had come to believe in had been visible to him on the physical plain. yet after his arrival on Felucia and his training with master Sandy and frond, he had encountered phenomena he had not experienced before."Is this my test? To simply put my faith in the force? Well, it's not like I have any other options." he sat upon the cavern floor, crossing his legs in a meditative position, closed his eyes, and allowed the force to flow through him. Kel had allowed physical senses to blind him to the universes greater truths. but now he was beginning to see that through the force, all things are connected. the force flowed through him much more smoothly than before. the lights of the false lights of the cavern began to dim in his mind. All but one, a single solitary light in the force that shined as blisteringly bright as the sun, but at the same time warm and gentle, kel knew beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this was his crystal. he extended his hand and used the force to pluck the crystal from its icy perch and into the palm of his hand. the crystal was small. roughly the length and a half of the space between his knuckles. the color was a grassy green. it reminded him of the gardens in the felucian temple. firmly grasping the crystal in his hand, he ran to rejoin his fellows on the ship. upon his arrival he proudly showed them the crystal he had obtained.

the question that master Vos proposed had occurred earlier in Kel's mind, but he had simply written it off as one of the thieves provoking the beasts. however now that he thought about it why were the panthers here to begin with? the records he had studied about the gathering back on Felucia made no mention of the wildlife being aggressive or territorial. If this were the case then jedi would have a much more difficult time gathering crystals. Did Tobias imply that there was another reason? He mentioned that the crystals were meant for Jedi. Did the force act through these panthers as a way of protecting the crystals? As kel gazed at the corpes, he spotted a blaster just a few feet away. A model six or Quick-6 as it was commonly known. a blaster popular among hunters for its effective stun blasts. Kel grabbed the blaster along with a holster from one of the bandits and secured it around his waist. "This will be perfect for constructing my light saber." Although he still had to obtain a crystal. And Frond was already ahead of Kota and I in that department. even going so far as to call us slowpokes. "You might have been the first to find a crystal, but you can bet that i'll finish building my saber first." Kel rebuttled. as we ventured deeper into the temple caverns, the sense of dread he felt upon their arrival, further intensified. Frond and Kota had diverged onto a different path. Knowing from past experience that Frond's little escapades lead to trouble at some point, Kel opted to follow the two of them."Hey, wait up!" he held no doubt that Frond could hold his own, and part of him knew that Kota would be fine as long as he was with Frond, but he knew that three jedi would be better than two. The three of us mad our way to a large, dark room with only a single ray of light in the room's center. Kel watched as Frond took root and transformed yet again into a tree at the center. however frond had twisted the trunk and made a knothole for each crystal. As the light reflected off of each crystal, the room grew a little bit brighter. the serenity of the crystals helped to put Kel's mind at ease. His doubts vanished and he began to think more positively.

    Ilum

As Kel gazed upon the snowy white world of ilum, his eyes squinted. Were it not for his goggles, he would have been blinded twice over. once by the planet's atmosphere, and again from the light glaring off the snow. He followed his fellow jedi in their quest for crystals. Though, as time went on, Kel felt something was off about Ilum. During his time studying the Baran do, he had learned to pick up on things like shifting ground and subtle changes in the weather. however none of his past experiences allowed Kel to pick up on what was happen on the world of ice. And that troubled him the most. he could only hope that he and his fellows would be prepared for what's coming. as we entered the temple, we came upon the grueling visage of bodies that were mauled by the local wild life. he watched frond study one of the corpses and deduced they were a group of bandits. "So that leaves us with two, no, three questions. What were they after? how did they know to come here? and why were they after it in the first place."
  5. Kel followed Frond and Sarna to a cantina where they came across their master's master Tobias Vos and a young togruta who introduced himself as Kota. It didn't take a jedi to figure out he found their master attractive from his body language and how he stared at her. Normally he'd call him a pervert just to get on his nerves, but he doubted that neither Sarna or Tobias would appreciate would appreciate him causing a scuffle. The three of us sat down at the booth and tobias was kind enough to order meals for the group. "My name is Kel Koon. It's a pleasure to meet you master Vos. And you as well Kota. As my compatriots have said, we are heading to Ilum to obtain crystals in order to construct light sabers of our own. Right now, we're looking for someone that can arrange a transport for us. it would help us a great deal if you could point us in the right direction."
  6. The S.F. Courtland soon arrived at the red and black world of Iridonia. A stark contrast from the lush green wilds of felucia and his home world of dorin which was more of a rustic brown. the three of us boarded a shuttle that took us to a large settlement of Zabraks located in one of the wind swept canyons that made this planet livable. once we landed, the three of us departed the shuttle and set out to find transportation to Ilum. Kel and frond following closely behind their master as the three of them walked the streets of town. "So, where exactly do we find a private vendor that will take us to Ilum? do you already have someone in mind?" Kel asked. as they walked many of the zabrak stared at us. Understandable, considering Iridonia's population was mostly zabrak, we must have stuck out to the locals like a sore thumb.

Kel woke up early in the morning. in his quarters he found a new set of robes to replace the ones that had been damaged from yesterday's sparring match. the young doran quickly changed into his new garments. kel stowed his training sabre in the pack containing his clothes and medical kit. Then he went to join frond and their master on the ship that would take them to Ilum. Kel was hesitant at leaving his personal ship behind, but he trusted it would be there when he came back. the transport took to the air and soon flew into the vast reaches of space. Kel was very accustomed to the experience of space travel. Compared to navigating the more hazardous areas of space surrounding his home world of Doran, this was practically a bus ride. the ship connected to an AA-9 freighter called the Courtland. The three of us boarded the freighter along with the other passengers. like his fellow apprentice, Kel took notice of the other passengers. the group of weequay mercenaries that were jovially discussing a past job were just one of many groups and people aboard a vessel capable of carrying roughly 30,000 passengers. the three of them sat at a vacant bench so they could discuss further details of the trip. "We are a long ways from Ilum, but I believe we would have to make port at another planet or two before reaching it. so we shouldn't be on this ship for very long." Kel said in an effort to put frond at ease.
  8. Sarna's words had snapped Kel out of his doldrums. he knelt by her side placing his hand on the wound applying pressure while he concentrated on closing the wound. emptying his mind of fear and doubt while he healed her provided him with a sort of catharsis. by the time he had closed the wound, Frond had arrived. seeing the state they were in, Frond lifted Sarna from the ground and gestured for Kel to follow. eventually they found the cave's exit and were once again bathed in the light of day. On their way to the jedi temple Sarna instructed them to rest and meditate while she recovered in the medical bay and brokered passage to ilum. when they arrived, kel went to his quarters to wash the blood off of his hands. Frond would no doubt notice that sarna's injury had come from a sabre. My sabre. Kel would tell frond the truth, but only after he meditated and composed himself. after he cleaned himself off, Kel sat on his bed, crossed his legs and began to meditate. his thoughts drifted back to an earlier training session with frond wherekel had attempted to reassure frond after he had accidentally allowed the dark side to influence him. Kel wondered if frond felt the same feeling of helplessness he had at that moment... the young doran shook his head as he attempted to rid himself of his negative thoughts. "Get it together Kel. You can't change the past. no matter how much you want to." he said to himself. after an hour of meditation, Kel believed he had managed to find his center again. He then left his room and proceeded to the gardens on the second floor knowing that he would find frond there. when he arrived he saw that frond had once again changed his form into that of a tree. Kel sat himself on the grassy ground in front of the large tree and began talking while not really expecting a reply. "So you might have figured this out by now, but it was me that attacked Sarna. The dark side played tricks on me and in my fear, anger, and confusion, I was possessed. If sarna hadn't been there, I might have hurt you or someone else... i don't even want to think about how i would feel if that had been the case. I just felt so helpless. i was totally overwhelmed and it frustrates the ever living druk out of me!" Kel took a deep breath as he reined in his emotions. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have unloaded on you like that. I won't bother you much longer." he then stood back up. "I'll see you tomorrow when we head to Ilum. Rest well my friend. I think we're going to need it." Kel then proceeded back to his quarters where he began to rest for tomorrow.
  9. Kel's mind and soul struggled desperately while the evil spirit possessed his body. He was beginning to lose hope of ever freeing himself from its grip. Fearing that he would never again see the light of day. 'No. I can't give up yet. Not until i become a jedi. And certainly not until i beat Frond in a duel!' Kel stubbornly thought. It was then that he saw a bright light in his mind's eye. the light was as blinding as the sun. the spirit screeched in agony as it was forced to flee from his body. Now that Kel was back in control of his body, his vision began to clear. He saw that the 'monster' he had attacked was actually his master. A severe burn injury around her abdomen from where his blade had connected. Kel was instantly ridden with guilt. In his moment of weakness he had allowed himself to cause harm to his teacher. "I'm such a fool. I allowed my fear to control me. and the darkness took hold. And now I've hurt you. I don't deserve to be a Jedi."
  10. Due to Kel's physical exertion, and this assault on his mind, he was feeling both physically and mentally fatigued. "Just... make it... stop..." As his mind grew hazy he felt another presence calling out to him. However, his mind was clouded to the point where he was unable to tell friend from foe. As the darkness overtook him, Kel tapped into the force in desperation. hoping anyone near would feel his plea for help. After that his consciousness faded and his saber deactivated. His body wandered aimlessly through the cave until it came upon master Sarna and frond. In the young doran's eyes, the jedi was nothing more than another monster seeking to claim his life. "Die..." he muttered. Kel activated his training saber again. the glowing green light revealing his location. Kel ran towards sarna and attempted to strike horizontally at her.
  11. Kel wandered aimlessly through the passages of the cave. the underground labyrinth seemed to be never ending. his only source of light being the bright green glow of his training sabre. the confined space gave an echo to everything from kel's foot steps, to the tiniest drop of water dripping from the ceiling. "Just how in the world do i get out of this place?" he muttered. everything about this place had kel on edge. Another predatory beast or creature of the dark could attack him at any moment. For the second time today, Kel began to fear for his life. sweat trickled from his brow while his paranoia built further anxiety. At first Kel thought he was seeing things out of the corner of his eyes, but as he walked further into the cave, he began seeing the face of nightmarish monsters, ghouls, and other terrors of the night. Kel turned and ran from the nightmarish figures, but their pursuit was relentless. Their high pitched shrills and malevolent laughter echoed in kel's ears. his fear soon turned into anger at his pursuers. His anger turned into rage as he began slashing his training sabre wildly at the evil spirits.the onslaught seemed to be endless, but Kel would not rest until he had vanquished each and every one of these monsters of his imagination.
  12. the graveyard was soon covered in a thick haze of fog. it was so thick that Kel could barely see two feet in front of him. He pulled out his communicator again and attempted to contact his droid. "R5, there's a pretty thick fog here. i'm not sure how large it is. Be careful when you approach." However there was no reply. "R5? R5-N7, do you read me?" Nothing. The only sound present was buzz and static. "Great. No signal." Kel said gruffly while placing the comm back in his pocket. "Well, looks like we're going back on foot." And so, Kel took point while frond followed. The mist covered everything as far as the eye could see and they were no closer than they were before from escaping this blasted graveyard. eventually frond came to the realization that we were lost. "Well isn't that obvious?" Kel said rhetorically. Kel tried reaching out with the force, willing the fog to part. however the mist would not budge. Kel could feel the presence of the dark side in the mist. It would seem this place was not ready for them to leave yet. Kel's patience was wearing thin. "Well, i'm not going to stick around here to be rancor fodder." Kel said. He continued traversing blindly through the mist. Completely unaware of the terrain around him, or if Frond was even still following him. To Kel's surprise his next step met empty air instead of solid ground as he expected. "Whoa!" kel yelped as he unexpectedly fell into a deep hole. The pit, roughly 30 feet deep and had a small lake at the bottom with a large splash, Kel sunk into the watery depths. the doran swam upward and gasped for air when he reached the surface. he noticed a small outcropping of earth near what appeared to be a cave. the doran swam to solid ground and pulled himself out of the water. "Frond! can you hear me!? i fell down into this under ground reservoir! I'm fine, so don't worry." Kel shouted from the depths. "Listen, we'll have to split up from here. I'm going to look through this cave to see if i can find a way out. if i'm trapped down here Frond, it's very important that you get back to the temple and get help!"
  13. Kel ran towards the last place he had seen Frond. He noticed that the neti was nowhere to be seen though. He found Frond's foot prints in the soft ground However there was no trail leading from the spot. 'That's odd. i didn't notice frond assisting in the battle after stabbing that thing's tail. there's no trail, So he didn't retreat.' as he looked around he saw that one of the skeletal remains of the deceased rancors had its rib cage broken. likely from something large and thrown with great force. "Oh, no..." Kel ran towards the skeleton hoping to locate his fellow apprentice. He found that Frond wasn't here either. he expanded his presence in the force as sarna had taught him. he felt the faint presence of the force somewhere nearby. it wasn't frond, but it was something he had used. "Frond's training sabre..." Kel muttered. he extended his arm outward and called the long hilt to his hand. the sabre floated out from a nearby pile of bones towards Kel's palm. As if in response to retrieving the sabre, Kel felt Frond's presence in the force coming from the direction of the fallen rancor. Kel rushed to Frond's side. He saw Frond placing his hand on the rancor's head. Kel could feel how Frond was using the healing ability he had used on Sarna before on the fallen beast. The bull groaned painfully as the wounds inflicted on frond were transferred to itself. as the beast slowly Breathed its last, Kel couldn't help but feel a strange mixture of satisfaction and guilt. The rancor that had tried to kill them would die by their hands, but at the same time we were the ones who wandered into its territory. it was like they broke into someone's home and killed them. the rancor breathed it's last deep and ragged breath and it's eyes stilled as rigor mortis set in. Kel approached the fallen bull and placed his hand on its eyelid. he pulled down on the pale skin until its soulless eye was closed. he moved to the other side and saw the burned cut he had left across the rancor's eyeball. a stream of puss, blood, and other liquids leaked from the gash. Kel closed the other eye and went to speak with Frond. A chill had spread through the air And Kel could feel the presence of the dark side increasing. Frond Worried they had disturbed something and Kel was worried that his fellow apprentice was correct. "Bull rancors are the guardians of the rancor graveyards. Now that this one is gone, Felucia's wild life will be able to freely explore this place until another bull takes its place. We should leave before that happens." Kel said firmly. his tone implied that there would be no room for further argument. He also held out the training sabre he had located towards frond.
  14. Just as Kel had predicted the rancor turned its attention to the one who attacked it. "That's right, follow me ya big ugly beast!" Kel taunted. He then ran away while the rancor gave chase. As Kel ran He looked for anything that could provide him with an advantage against the enormous carnivore. Kel leaped atop the skeletal head of a dead rancor and turned to face the predator chasing him. the beast Roared angrily at the pest that dared to defile one of its brethren. As the rancor closed the distance between itself and Kel, Kel channeled the force through his sabre and threw it at the beast's face. the sabre spun in a horizontal arc as it whirled toward the rancor slicing into its eye. as the rancor cried out in pain and confusion from its sudden blinding. the sabre whirled around like a boomerang as Kel used the force to call it back to his hand. Kel grasped the sabre by the hilt and jumped off the skull to the loamy earth. while the beast was reeling in pain, Kel concentrated on condensing force energy into his off hand as the Sith lord he saw in his visions had done. His anger towards the rancor fueling the process. "This is what happens when you mess with a Jedi you foul beast!" Kel exclaimed as he extended his arm outwards the force shooting outward from his palm like a cannon ball towards the Rancor's head. the combination of the rancor's pain and blindness and the concussive blast caused the it to lose balance. the monster's head collided with the skull of its fallen brethren and fell to the ground temporarily dazed. With the rancor in its current state Kel opted to regroup with Frond so that they could come up with a strategy to defeat this thing.
  15. Kel watched as the rancor lunged towards them. the beast lunged at us, it's hand poised to grab at frond and use him as it's personal tooth pick. However Frond stood his ground and ignited his sabre. the carnivorus monster recoiled as its hide was burned by the offending weapon. the only reason that kel could think of for Frond not fleeing at the sight of the creature was that he believed he wouldn't be able to outrun it. Kel had a choice to make. he could either run and return with help, however there would be no guarantee that Frond would survive. or he could stand with his comrade in arms and attempt to take down this monstrosity. "Arrrgh! Rancor Poodoo!" Kel cursed. he ignited his sabre and ran towards the rancor. he dashed towards the rancor's legs while making sure to avoid the bull's tusks and cut at the monster's ankles. But Kel knew that a single strike would not be enough to fell or cripple the beast. He continued his sprint until he was behind the beast. once there he stabbed at the rancor's elongated tail in order to gain it's attention.
  16. Kel's fast paced attacks were beginning to take a toll on his body. Frond's defense proved to be impervious to the Doran. and Frond had managed to exploit an opening in Kel had left to attack his arm. the blade burned at his flesh and Kel winced in pain. However before their spar could continue, an ear drum splitting roar echoed in the graveyard. A large rancor with pale white skin had entered the fray. the beast seemed angered that we had entered its territory. "That's not just any rancor. That's a bull rancor." Kel said. he pulled out his communicator and contacted his droid again. "R5, if you were planning on making a dramatic entrance. now's the time! what do you mean you're still on the turbo lift!? AARGH!" Kel angrily hung up his comm and placed back in his pocket. "Frond, i think now would be a good time to retreat."
  17. Frond had managed to block Kel's attack. their sabres connected and frond moved his sabre closer to his hip to defend himself. Kel had landed on his feet and continued to press his assault on the Neti. With his opponent on the defensive, Kel delivered a series of quick strikes at Frond's torso in an effort to break through his guard. Kel's movements became a blur as he pressed his assault and used the force to increase his speed. each of his attacks smoothly transitioned into one another as he struck at Frond from multiple angles. ((2))
  18. the rancor graveyard was unnaturally quiet. aside form some scavengers picking at any meat that remained, the only signs of life were from the himself and Frond. an ominous air, generated by the dark side of the force lingered in the valley. the atmosphere of this area sickened Kel. if not for his mask, the combination of felucia's atmosphere and the darkside would likely induce vomiting from the young Doran. It was then that frond suggested that they not disturb the darkness and its inhabitants. "Finally, you say something that makes sense." Kel remarked. after they practically tiptoed across the remains, they reached a clearing left by a number of deceased rancors. Frond grabbed his training sabre from his waist and ignited it, eager to practice the style he observed from Firenz. Kel was also eager to not only practice the techniques he observed from the revanchists, but for a rematch with the one who had defeated him previously. Frond had given Kel the first move. Kel ignited his sabre's green blade. Kel thought back to their previous duel and the visions of battles he had seen today. he recalled Sarna's battle with the sith and his opening move. perhaps kel could surprise frond with a similar maneuver. Kel drew upon the force to increase his strength so that he might match frond's own might. And so he leapt high in the air and swung his sabre down at Frond in an overhead strike. ((1))
  19. After Sarna had left them to go speak with their new visitor, Frond mentioned that he was illiterate and would rather go and train. Luckily Kel had already studied Illum during his research on light sabre construction. So Kel walked with Frond and relayed what he had learned during his spare time while they rode the turbo lift to the surface. "Frond, you need to know that Ilum is an ice planet. So naturally it's very cold there. we'll have to bundle up. Especially you, last I checked, plants didn't do so well in subzero temperatures. Ilum rich in kyber crystals. so much so that the jedi consider it a sacred place. The jedi hold a ritual there called the gathering. this is when padawans like us attempt a trial in order to find our crystals. it's a right of passage that every jedi goes through. You should be careful Frond. this will be our most difficult task yet." Kel warned. Kel followed Frond as they entered a graveyard of sorts. the area was riddled with the skeletal remains of rancors and their prey. Kel only hoped that a Rancor wouldn't stray in while he and frond were here. he doubted that they would be a match for such a beast when all they were armed with were these training sabres. he then pulled out his communicator from his pocket and contacted his droid. "R5, head to our ship and meet me at these coordinates. We might need a pick up. Or in the worst case scenario, some covering fire." Kel said. He then placed the communicator back in his pocket.
  20. Kel watched as the three revanchists battled against the Mandolorians. despite the vast difference in numbers, the Jedi and their republic troops kept the invaders at bay for what felt like an eternity. The confined space of the hallway practically eliminated the Mandolorian's aerial advantage. The Jedi slew the invaders left and right while deflecting any laser fire that came their way. One of the jedi, Jen, used the force to grab the grenades of her fallen foes and lobbed them at the invaders. A clever tactic that Kel would be certain to make use of if the situation called for it. the Invader's armor proved to be very resilient even taking a few hits from the Jedi's light sabres. But even their armor could not stop the jedi when they drew deeply from the force to press their assault. by the end of the battle the Mandolorians were defeated and the Jedi fell lifelessly on the floor as the overexertion of their bodies and the force took its toll. their blood pooled from their bodies as the remaining troops went to collect their fallen comrades. the battleground faded from Kel's vision and the cantina came back into view. The events of the past weighed heavily on Kel as he attempted to comprehend the battle... No, war, he had just witnessed. the revanchists gave their lives to ensure victory against an army of warmongers. If the spirits of the revanchists could be trusted, then the Jedi had allowed the mandolorians to ravage planet after planet. The jedi were peace keepers were they not? why had they not stepped in sooner? much of the past was a mystery to Kel, perhaps the darkside had clouded their vision and they couldn't grasp the bigger picture? Was this why the galaxy remained plagued by wars to this day? The sith cause imbalance by their mere existence. The revanchists sought to light that darkness by fighting in its depths. Wars will continue to cause strife through out the galaxy. The Sith limit our ability to prevent such wars from happening. "I believe the time has come for a new kind of Jedi. a group that possesses an active role in the galaxy's current state of affairs." Kel gazed at the dark crystal on the table "One that can prevent such tragedies from happening again." Kel said.
  21. Kel watched as Sarna pulled out a small black crystal from her satchel. the crystal had this strange, almost alluring quality to it. Kel could tell that this crystal was strong with the dark side of the force, perhaps even stronger than the Sith lord's weapons she had shown them before. Sarna had no doubt brought the crystal before them so that they could experience another vision of sorts. she placed the crystal on the table before them and proceeded to grasp each of our hands in her own and closed her eyes. she appeared to be very eager to show us what history the crystal held. Though Kel still trusted that she would not have showed them this if she didn't believe the two of them could handle it. So kel closed his eyes as well and grasped Frond's other hand in his own while Sarna did the rest. When Kel opened his eyes he saw that he and his colleagues were standing in the white hallway of a republic cruiser. standing before them were three other Jedi that were kneeling in prayer. their master Haliin introduced herself and her fellow knights Firenz and Jen as Revanchists. Kel did not expect that Sarna's technique would actually allow them to travel through time and interact with spirits of the past. the spirits had offered to teach us in their final moments. the force and their dedication to it was truly awe inspiring to the young Doran. "it would be my pleasure to learn from you Master Haliin."
  22. seeing that Sarna had waved them over, Kel left his earlier spot in favor of sitting on the opposite side of the table she was sitting at. when Frond joined them, she joked and asked if we were ready to build our own light sabres and slay the sith. "I studied light sabre construction during my free time. I have an idea of how i want to build my light sabre. With the right components, I believe it could be very versatile." Kel said while clasping his fingers together. "What of you Frond? have you given any thought as to your own light sabre?" Kel asked.
  23. Kel beamed at his master's praise, though he was disheartened by Frond's dismissal of his attempted aid. in hindsight he probably shouldn't have said anything. Sarna basically said the same things he had, but she was much more eloquent in how she spoke. in Kel's mind this served to further demonstrate the vast gap in experience between someone like himself and someone like Sarna or his grandfather.if his grandfather were still of this world he would no doubt scold Kel for his lack of tact in that moment. Sarna instructed Kel and Frond to meditate on today's experiences so that they could discuss their points of view. Believing that meditating would clear his mind of these stray thoughts, Kel crossed his legs in a sitting position and clasped his hands together. he took a deep breath through his mask and slowly exhaled. He pondered Frond's method of healing and how Sarna had reacted afterwards. Kel thought that frond had committed a malpractice, albeit unintentionally. But Sarna insisted that there was a balance in it. "Frond's method is certainly a gray area. There is just as much potential for bad as there is for good. such a power would have to be used carefully, as we have just observed." Kel said while gazing at the fresh wound on Sarna's arm. He then stood up and began the walk towards his quarters. the turbo lift brought him to the first floor and then he walked towards his designated room. upon entering his room, his astromech R5-N7 beeped in greeting. "Hi to you too." Kel then removed his singed Jedi robes and began changing into the garb of his people's martial artists. A purple tunicthat went down to his kness and parted at his waist, a red sash tied around his waist, and a leather harness around his chest that was connected to a pauldron on his right shoulder. The droid beeped in booped as if to say 'you got into a fight didn't you?' "No, this was a sparring match. With light sabres. big difference." Kel responded. the droid beeped again. "Yeah well, I'd like to see you fight an 8 foot neti." Kel remarked. after he finished dressing himself, Kel sat back on his bed and examined the training sabre in his hands. it was a nice weapon, but a bit too simple for his tastes. perhaps when the time came to build his own sabre, he could build one to his liking. he then left his room and proceeded to the stairs and stepped down to the second floor. He went to the archives to study the components and mechanics of light sabres. from what he had been able to gather he surmised that the core design of light sabres were almost always the same, but with slight variations often made specifically for the user. with this new information, Kel began to picture how his light sabre would look and how it would function. He spent hours looking over various components in order to figure out what parts he would need for his sabre's design to work efficiently. His stomach growled loudly as it demanded sustenance. Returning to the first floor Kel went towards the cantina and proceeded to eat until he had his fill.
  24. Kel was pleased to hear that sarna had offered to take both he and Frond as her apprentices. "Thank you... Master Sarna." He watched as Sarna worked diligently to heal his burned flesh. He felt the force in Sarna drawing on her own life energy, manipulating the cells of his skin and muscle tissue in an effort to speed up his recovery. the process took roughly an hour and by the end of it, there wasn't even a scar left from their earlier bout. He twisted and stretched his body and felt that his body was in working order."I have a change of clothes in my room. they will suffice until my robes are replaced." Kel watched as his fellow apprentice attempted the same procedure on himself for his own injuries. But something went wrong. As Frond's injuries healed, a new injury had sprouted on Sarna's arm. Frond's idea of balance had caused him to use the force in a way that transferred his injury to another living thing. and that thing was their new master. Frond soon realized his mistake and stopped what he was doing immediately while tumbling into the grass. Kel believed that Frond hadn't purposefully meant to cause Sarna harm, but this incident would no doubt be a major blow to his confidence. Kel knelt down by his side and reached his hand out to touch Fronds injuries. "Relax Frond, just take a deep breath." And so Kel attempted to heal Frond's injuries himself. he followed Sarna's example and drew on his own energy to heal Frond. He urged Fronds plant like cells to mend their cell walls and to multiply in an effort to heal the singed bark on frond's arms. The process took roughly half an hour, but Kel believed that was due to Frond's injuries being less severe than his own. Frond's bark like skin had taken the brunt of Kel's assault. frond's injuries were likely only a flesh wound compared to his own. After Kel finished his work, he sat on the ground completely exhausted. "It's alright, to make mistakes Frond. What matters, is that you learn from them so that you don't make the same one again."
  25. As Kel regained consciousness, he clutched at the wounds he had received on his midsection. the pain still radiating from his burning flesh made him wince. though the cool temperature of the water helped to alleviate the sensation somewhat. 'Yup. that's going to hurt in the morning.' Slowly, Kel tried to sit himself up and with his other hand rubbed the sore spot on his head where he had made contact with the lake bed. Before long Kel noticed that frond was looming over him. From the look on his face he appeared to be concerned. Kel's hunch was confirmed when the wooden giant asked if he was injured. To which kel replied; "It's alright Frond. I can survive this much. Although I question my chances when master Pulthar and Jalavi find out that I've not only ditched my first class, but also ruined my new robes. And on my first day no less." He then grasped his knee cap with his of hand hand for support while trying to stand up. he then expanded his presence in the force in order to locate his sabre which had fallen in the water during the scuffle. once he was back on his feet, he reached out with his off hand, willing the sabre to return to his grasp. the hilt flew from it's place in the water and returned to Kel. "That was a good fight Frond. You defeated me. And for that you have my everlasting respect." Kel said.
