JediRP Canon History: Felucia had a diversity of bizarre plants (such as spike, spore, and enormous pitcher plants), fungi, and animals which were almost rubber-like and translucent. When the sun shone, the environment glittered like multicolored glass. Most of Felucia was entirely covered by a humid, fetid landscape of huge fungal forests, and its wildlife included native gelagrubs, immigrated acklays, and a prodigious sarlacc. Felucia had strong ties to the Living Force, and as such the world's flora and fauna, including Jungle Felucians, could be influenced by a presence of a strong Force-user, both light and dark. Most plants and animals of Felucia had adapted special defenses to protect them from each other, which made them particularly hostile to off-worlders. Felucia was known to radiate a sort of life force that the native Jungle Felucians were capable of feeling.

Recently, a Jedi Temple has been built there.

Construction begins on a new Jedi Temple and defenses.

Temple Description:

To get to the hanger you have to follow a canyon. The course is treacherous, but if you have the right codes, an automated system of tractor beams will pull your ship through safely.

From the hanger, the entrance requires a sloped outdoor climb up to the top of the canyon. At the top, there is a medium-sized ground hatch with a fingerprint and retinal scanner. Once you pass that, you can step on the plate and get lowered into the temple itself.

The turbolift is in the darkness of dirt only for about 400 meters, then it is revealed to be transparisteel. Visitors can see a large atrium, mostly white stone decorated with silver and navy accents in graceful arches and curves, with a high ceiling. Large artificial windows line the atrium, through which artificial sunlight pours during the day, and the bioluminescent vista of Felucia is visible day and night, making it seem like the temple isn’t underground at all. The only thing not present which one would expect to see in a Jedi temple is statues of great Jedi from the past. Instead, all art is abstract, hailing from each of the different worlds that welcome Jedi influence.

Upon exiting the main turbolift, a visitor would see a large reception area in the center with information terminals scattered throughout. To the rear of the atrium, there are two grand staircases winding down to lower levels. These impressive staircases spiral all the way through the heart of the temple, leading to each successive level.

One floor down contains living quarters (both single rooms and suites) and a restaurant-style cantina.

The second floor down consists of training rooms of all kinds and meditation rooms. It also contains a large Jedi library/archive, as well as two large gardens with fountains and native non-threatening plants.

The third level down is mostly offices. There are dedicated ones for the Jedi Council members and Grand Master (whose simple office nevertheless looks out on a stunning “view” of the jungle). There are also many other offices available for any Jedi who needs a place set aside to work. This floor also houses staff quarters and barracks for the ground troops whose duty it is to protect the temple.

The deepest level is accessible only by going through the Grand Master’s office. A simpler stone staircase leads down two flights of stairs to a large, round Council chamber, modeled after the one in the most famous temple of Coruscant, although the color scheme is changed to match the blue-and-silver of the entire temple, and the circle is smaller, consisting of just six chairs.

The temple is protected by a planetary ion cannon and planetary shield, seven thousand ground troops, and seven squadrons of E-wing and X-wing starfighters.

A shuttle bearing the new Jedi Grand Master appeared out of hyperspace in the Felucia system and headed for the fourth world. From orbit, the jungle world was a riot of color, though dark green and purple dominated. What struck Darex the most, however, was how the planet radiated in the Force. It almost glowed. Very few planets had such a strong connection to the Force. For the Jedi, it was like getting a deeper glimpse at the glory and mystery that was the entity he served, and he savored it.

His sensors picked up the main reason he was here: a small fleet sat in orbit around the second planet from the sun. He had been expected three Corellian Corvettes, but there were also several other ships. He pushed his curiosity aside for the moment, and hailed the government of Felucia. Once his codes were verified, he was welcomed down to the surface, and brought his ship in for a clean landing on a domed landing pad in the capital city. As he headed down the ramp, he was greeted by two Felucians, a Gossam, and a human. Darex bowed in the traditional Jedi style.

"You are welcome," one of the Felucians said. He was carrying a ceremonial staff and shield. The other, slightly smaller, had painted markings on his torso. Darex assumed, from his research, that the former was a chieftan and the other a shaman. Indeed, while both had strong Force-presences, the latter's was clear and strong like that of a full Jedi Knight or Master. Darex knew that the Felucians had their own traditions and practices when it came to using the Force, and he was certain there would be much he could learn from them if time permitted. "Darex Trevelian of the Jedi Order, we welcome you to Felucia."

"I am honored to be here," he answered. "Your message intrigued me greatly."

"Indeed," the shaman replied, and Darex realized from her voice that she was female. "The dark side grows ever stronger, and so the Jedi must rise to maintain the balance of the Force. We Felucians have sensed we have our own role to play in this."

The human offered his hand. "Hi there, I'm Dace Jenteri, a representative of the Free Alliance."

Darex shook the man's hand, but looked puzzled. "I've never heard of this Free Alliance."

Jenteri smiled. "No surprise there, since it formed only a week ago. Come on inside. We all have much to discuss."

---

Discussions weren't long, and they were gratifying to all parties. The Free Alliance was a group of planets that had recently broken off from the Galactic Alliance, but hadn't wanted to become part of the Imperial Remnant. It was a small coalition of worlds who were simply hoping to keep their heads down if war erupted. But they nevertheless wanted to be under the protection of the Jedi Order. Darex explained that the Jedi weren't a defense force, but that he'd be completely open to allowing the Free Alliance to request Jedi aid and assistance. Jenteri agreed, and on top of that, told Darex that his people had sent a gift--a Maurader-class corvette and a Carrack-class frigate. He also promised Darex that if the Jedi ever needed further fleet support, the Free Alliance would help to the best of their ability by allowing them airspace or access to construction teams.

The Felucians had their own offer. "Build a Jedi temple here on Felucia," the shaman requested. "We will donate the land to you in return for the same agreement you made with the Free Alliance--Jedi protection and mediation should we request it. We have already begun construction on a place you will hopefully find suitable, in hopes that you would accept."

For Darex, it was all a no-brainer. He accepted all the offers graciously and requested the Free Alliance to begin building another ship for them. They continued to discuss for some time, and then the Felucians took him out in the jungle the next day to see the temple they were constructing for the Jedi. Darex added a few modifications, but the place was already mostly good to go.

On the third day, he went off world to visit the new fleet. Several of the ships were ones Darex expected to see. They were the ones Vos had acquired. They had been retrofitted, recrewed, and in most cases, renamed. The Free Alliance ships--Jedi ships, he corrected himself--came with crews already. Darex made a point to meet all the captains, as well as speak to as many of the crewmembers as possible on all the ships, getting a feel for the people who would run these vessels. Nothing he sensed caused him any alarm. Everyone was eager and proud to serve the Jedi Order. It reminded him that while there was division among the members of the Order, the galaxy as a whole still believed in them. Darex only hoped that they would live up to that faith.

Two ships grandfathered in by the fleet rules going live. Construction begun on another Maurader-class corvette, to be completed on 10/28.

Once Darex was satisfied with the arrangements on Felucia and with the fleet, he sent them on maneuvers in deep space a micro-jump from the system. They were all still getting used to working together, and he knew they'd need time to build camaraderie. He spent the next day relaxing--or rather, hiking--in the jungles of Felucia. The Force was so strong here. There were quite a few natural predators he had to watch out for, but they were no serious challenge for a Jedi Master, and he avoided their attention. He did some serious thinking during his time. The Force had brought him back and thrown him into chaos, but he still felt at peace within himself. Yes, things were hectic and there was an unprecedented amount of splintering and infighting among the Jedi, but he believed that with time and careful leadership, they would become an Order he was proud of once again.

To that end, he started taking a look at all the records of the members of the Order, making mental notes. He was curious and saddened to see how Dahar's time had ended in madness and darkness. Even the former master's actions at the end had been strange--instantly promoting Vos and Ardel among them, with no evidence of a real trial. Xae seemed to have enough experience for the rank, and just needed her trials. Same with Roene. He saw a note that Sandy Sarna had been tentatively knighted by her master Adenna, but she was so young that Darex was concerned about knighting her so early. He made a note to give her a trial; if she passed, he wouldn't prevent her from claiming the title, even at such a young age.

About a week after he had arrived, Darex headed out again. It was time to go home--the Eternal Vigilance had waited in darkness long enough.

When the newest Maurader-class ship rolled off the line and made it's way to Felucia, the Free Alliance began construction on a Lancer-class frigate for the Jedi Order. [Completed 11/20/17].

Edit 11/20:

Once that one was finished, they would begin a Corona-class frigate (2 AP), [completed 12/4/17].

Edit 12/4:

The next vessel was a CC-7700 frigate to be completed 12/18/17 (2 AP).

Edit 12/18:

After the CC-7700 was complete, they moved on to procuring a MC90 type Star Cruiser (4 AP) to be completed 1/15/18, which would be named after one of the first Grandmasters of the Order.

A redirected distress signal, sent from the Jedi comlink of Councilmember Jaina Jade Skywalker, arrived at Felucia. It was from the personal craft of Knight Sandy Sarna, who had disappeared following the transfer of a Sith prisoner into Jedi custody on Coruscant, and the beacon appeared to be coming from the abandoned planet Scarif. Attached were explicit directions to follow up and extract Knight Sarna if necessary.

The news traveled quickly among the Jedi who had populated the Temple that a strike team was to be assembled, consisting of a number of volunteer apprentices to accompany Jedi Knight Kaeta Osiral, a spritely Mirialan, in the search and rescue mission that awaited them. No danger was foreseen, but more sinister realities had lurked under such conditions many times before.

  • … Although I appreciate the creativity and ingenuity it took for them to create the illusion of the Temple being above ground, it's still not quite the same as actually having access to outside. If I don't get to feel actual sunlight, fresh air, and maybe even a real breeze soon, I may start to go stir crazy - meditation or not!

Joelle finished typing her journal entry and set the datapad down on the desk with a sigh. This caught Tyue's attention and he looked up at her from his cushion at the foot of her bed. With the absence of Master Roene, the pup seemed to have attached himself to her. "Yeah, I'd bet you'd like to get some time outdoors, too, wouldn't you, boy?" The Garral thumped his tail in response but didn't get up, possibly realizing the "conversation" wasn't going to be getting him anywhere.

Joelle stretched and looked around, thinking about the time since Grandmaster Kirlocca's memorial service. During the Jedi Council meeting, there had been that strange sense of darkness that had distracted her from following after the young Jedi, Sandy. The sensation had been so strong it had overwhelmed her briefly, both mentally and physically. However, once she recovered, she recognized there were surely others present who would be better qualified to deal with whatever may have brought the darkness, so she did her best to put it out of her mind while mingling. Then, Master Roene had returned to the gathering, sending out messages through the Force. Unfortunately, they hadn't gotten the opportunity to discuss the memorial ceremony, or the feeling of darkness, before he needed to leave on his mission for the Order.

Fortunately, the members of the Jedi Order at large were as hospitable as Joelle could have ever hoped. When they left Kashyyyk to set up the Felucian Temple, they made certain she had a place on the transport ship. Upon their arrival here, she had been assigned living quarters - this single, simple room - and never wanted for any general supplies. Since then, she had spent the majority of her time practicing meditation as Master Roene had shown her, participating in sparring drills with other Hopefuls and Padawans, (even helping to lead a few drills with those with no martial art background) having discussions with Jedi of all levels, and exploring the resources in the library. The latter exercises had begun with the hope of better understanding the doctrines of the Jedi Order. However, the main thing she had found was that there almost seemed to be as much disagreement as agreement!

In some ways, the lack of consensus was freeing, as it meant she didn't necessarily have to fit into a set mold to become a Jedi. In other ways, it was frightening. How would she be able to tell if she was using her abilities for the Light verses drifting toward the Dark Side?

Joelle was pulled from her reverie by the sound of someone rushing down the hallway outside the open door to her room. In her time at the Temple, she had grown used to a slower pace; contrary to her first meeting with Master Roene, it seemed most Jedi tended to take their time getting from point A to point B. Curious, and a bit concerned, she hurried to the door to find her Twi'Lek "neighbor" fumbling to get his door open.

"Hi, Trakin, what's going on?" Joelle inquired.

"You hadn't heard? Knight Osiral is asking for volunteers to go out on a rescue mission!" The apprentice radiated excitement about this opportunity, his lekku twitching, "There's a distress code coming from a Knight's ship that apparently crashed on Scarif." He finally succeeded in getting the door unlatched.

"Oh, wow! I hope they're ok! Do you know who crashed?" Joelle stepped out into the hall, continuing the conversation from Trakin's doorway as he hurriedly grabbed a pack and began filling it with necessities.

"Knight…." the Twi'lek stumbled a bit, obviously more interested in preparing for the mission itself than the specific Knight needing rescuing, "um, Cindy Sarma, or something like that?"

"Wait, do you mean Sandy Sarna?!?" Joelle's concern doubled.

"Yeah, that's it! How did you know? She hasn't been at the Temple in about forever." Trakin paused in his tracks to give Joelle a puzzled look.

"I met her at the former Grandmaster's memorial service. She's really nice. Do you know if Knight Osiral has enough volunteers yet?"

"No idea. I heard about the mission from Dez and Shamell," he turned back to his packing, "but they did say she wants to leave within the next hour, so you might want to carry whatever you'd want to take with you when you go to find out."

"Thanks, I appreciate the tip. In case I don’t see you before you leave, may the Force be with you."

Joelle returned to her room and began tossing her belongings into her own pack. "Well, Tyue, looks like sometimes you get what you ask for! I sure hope Sandy is ok…"

----------

Just shy of half a standard hour later, Joelle stood in the hanger, waiting with Trakin and a couple of other apprentices for Knight Osiral. They didn't have to wait long.

"Good," announced a voice from a shuttle behind them, "four apprentices should be just right. Come aboard and let's get flying."

the starchaser is now approaching Felucia. "R-5, detach hyperspace ring." the Astromech beeped in response and did as instructed.the ring released the the spacecraft and it descended towards the planet. the ship lands safely on planet Felucia and Kel Koon begins his trek to the jedi temple with his trusty Astromech in tow.

Kel Koon was met at the entrance to the Temple by a tall Cerean in cream-colored robes who bowed respectfully, his long white braid curling around his shoulders.

"Welcome, my friend," he called in greeting. "My name is Master Pulthar. Who are you, and what brings you to our doors?"

"My name is Kel Koon. i have come here hoping to join the ranks of the Jedi. and this is my droid R5-N7." The purple and white painted droid beeps in greeting to the jedi master. "R-5, be nice." the astromech then makes more beeping noises. "No i don't care about the size of his head. He's a Jedi master and he deserves respect." Kel Koon scolded.

The wizened Master chuckled good-naturedly to himself before sweeping his arm before the young Kel Dor. "That's quite all right. Not the first time I've heard that and it won't be the last," he smiled easily. "Please, come in."

Master Pulthar led the way from the hangar into the turbolift. The initial darkness gave way to the brilliance of the bioluminescent main chamber, he watched the young Koon to measure his reaction. "Welcome to Felucia, my friend. I hope that here you can find what you seek."

Stepping out of the turbolift into the massive atrium, leading the way toward the rear of the atrium and the spiral staircases, he continued along the same line of questioning. "Tell me, what do you know of the Jedi Order?"

The Cerean inclined his head reverently. "Yes, however, unlike many previous Temples, which were built in reverence and homage to those who came before us, the splendor of this Temple is meant more to honor the truth of the Force and the mission of those who seek to uphold its balance. Here, we find tributes to every planet, every species, every people that offers their current support and solidarity to the Jedi."

He gestured to the ornate paintings on the walls and the tapestries that clothed the pillars, the blue-and-silver bedecking giving everything a regal air. As they began to descend the steps to the rear of the atrium, Master Pulthar offered Kel Koon a curious glance. "Was your grandfather a Jedi, or just familiar with our ways?"

"He was a Baran Do sage. They used the force to predict the weather and natural disasters. In time, they developed the ability to see visions of the future. they became valuable advisers and prevented many wars and catastrophes. Although as the Jedi grew, their numbers dwindled. They've become obscure. I heard people call him an eccentric wizard more than once."

"Ah, yes," Pulthar nodded. "Many times such savant skills are seen in spiritual leaders or sages, shamans of various cultures. We call that a sensitivity to the Force, and over time, it can be nurtured and blossom into the ability to hear the will of the Force itself, and as we become more aware of its currents, we are more able to give ourselves to its service."

With a thoughtful glance at the young Kel Dor, he added, "Was he held in ill regard amongst your people? And tell me, do you see as he does? Do you follow in his footsteps?"

"No, that was the general attitude towards the sages. What I mean, is that the sages were all considered a little strange. As for your other question, you could say I do. but i don't want to stop at being a sage. I want to surpass him. Someday, i want to be a Jedi master." Kel Koon said.

Master Pulthar smiled, leaning down to lay a hand on the young Kel Dor's shoulder. "My friend, you are welcome to study within these halls. The mantle of a Jedi is no small burden to bear. It is no mere method of collecting power. You hang in the balance of life and death to allow each to have their say in the galaxy."

The Cerean clasped his hands together and nodded serenely. "However, since your desire to serve the Force among your brethren here has driven you to seek us out, I am honored to offer you a place among our ranks. You will be considered a Hopeful for the Jedi Order, and eventually shall be accepted by a Master to take you on as a unique Padawan learner. I cannot, as my place is here, but I do give instruction to those who have yet to come under the tutelage of a Master. Allow me to show you to your room, and in the morning, you will attend your first instruction in the ways of the Force."

Indicating to the Kel Dor that he should stand once more, Pulthar began to trace the spiral staircase down into the depths of the Temple, towards the dormitories and the large mess hall.

Before long, they arrived at a small dormitory-style room, with a refresher and a data terminal, which would serve as a sufficient apartment for the young Koon until such a time as a master could be found. Escorting the Kel Dor inside, Pulthar offered him a serene bow.

"You will find sustenance and water to your liking just down the hall at the mess, where you may also meet several of your fellow students. But here you may rest, and I would encourage you to meditate and find quiet within yourself until tomorrow morning at which time we will begin our lessons," he said quietly. "I will return to collect you in the morning. In the meantime, feel free to look around."

Meanwhile, the new CC-7700 Solari joined the fleet amassing outside the system (on 1/31/18), and construction began on another Lancer-class frigate (2 AP, to be completed 2/14/18).

In the morning, which was notated only by the faces of chronos and the artificial lighting this far underground, a young Cathar apprentice appeared outside Kel's door, knocking once--twice--three times. In her hands, she clutched a small satchel of fabric, and wrung it between her hands on and off as she waited for him to appear.

"Kel Koon? My name is Jalavi. I arrived just two weeks ago, and Master Pulthar asked me to escort you around the temple this morning." Extending the bundle of brown fabric sheepishly, she smiled. "Your robes. I thought--I was wondering--would you like to accompany me to breakfast?"

With the new Lancer-class frigate procured, the Jedi's contacts began working on a Carrack-class cruiser (to be completed 2/28).

With another vessel procured for the Jedi Order, strides were begun towards obtaining another Corona-class frigate (AP 2, to be completed 3/14).

Edit 3/14:

Once the Corona-class frigate was commissioned by a hungry Hutt, which was why it had been quite unfortunately named, the Jedi Order began procuring a Maurader-class cruiser (AP 1, to be completed 3/21). At the same time, several ships were dispatched to Kashyyyk, loaded with supplies to assist the beleaguered wookiees.

Ashla's Nocturne, Vivace, and Vaapad are now located at Kashyyyk.

Edit 3/23:

With the Maurader-class corvette complete, the Jedi fleet had reached a comfortable size, and production rested for a while (fleet AP reached).

"We will begin with a meditation training," the Cathar murmured as a graceful striped hand indicated the corridor before her, leading the way, "in which you will be challenged to quiet your mind and listen to the Force itself. All new apprentices also receive a physical evaluation since one of the great duties of the Jedi is the defense of the innocent."

Jalavi's chatter did not cease until they had sat down at breakfast, and even then, she tried to continue speaking between mouthfuls, illuminated with excitement to be charged with the important task of escorting the newcomer about the grounds.

Before long, they were finished with their meal, and she led him to a vaulted, airy chamber, where they bustled in alongside a dozen others. The Cerean Master stood in the center of the room, his hands clasped before him serenely, and offered a nod and a smile to each one who entered.

"Welcome, my friends, students led by the Force to these halls. Today, you will begin to grasp your place in the infinite galaxy. Today, you will see the galaxy in a new light." His hands rose before him, and the light in the room waned, the shadows growing as the fluorescent beams tamed to a dull hum. "Begin by closing your eyes.

"Peel back the layers of the space around you. Hear the breathing of your classmates. Feel the sound of your heartbeat. Let them fade away. From within yourself, call stillness. Feel the heartbeat of the rocks around us, the planet that sustains our presence, the peoples who make their home here. Find the current that unites them all. Listen until you can hear it. And once you have found it, be prepared to describe what you have heard."

Silence reigned in the stillness of the meditation chamber, as the pulse of the Force danced between all the gathered apprentices, daring them to dive in deeper.
