I Officially feel Old...

Recommended Posts

Thought that i would stop by since it has been so long and this site literally change my life once upon a time. and I see users that are mods and admins that were just kids starting out on here when I was an admin. People are Adulting and doing great things in their lives. Hope everyone loved the last movie that came out last year. Can't wait for the next in that line. Looking forward to Rogue 1 coming out this xmas.

I have three fully adult children... one 6th grader, who is way smarter then I will ever hope to be... I finally stopped smoking. over two years under my belt now. Working full time at a Job that I hate but it is still a job. Oldest has his Master's degree and is a licensed therapist in Arkansas at the ripe old age of 28. The next is 23, a specialist in the Georgia Army National Guard and works out of Fort Gordon as the Linguistic Liason to the Middle East. She is 23 and scary smart in languages... she is fluent in 5 now if you count english... (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean)

My third is almost 22, in her 4th year of college to become an architect... seriously way smarter then me. She already holds an Associates degree, and is about to Transfer to Drexel to work in their masters program for Architecture.

And my little guy is almost 12 now, an honor student, a gamer, and cute as a button.

Once I remember how to put a picture on here... I'll throw up a few.

Hope everyone is doing all that they adore and love and seriously having a great time.

Hey there! Thanks for stopping in.

and I see users that are mods and admins that were just kids starting out on here when I was an admin. People are Adulting and doing great things in their lives.

It's true. Looking back I'm sure I caused a few headaches as a teenager back in the day when you were an RP mod. Since those days I graduated high school, then earned a degree, and since have been working as a programmer for a bank. And this year I bought a house.

Seems a lot of our other users are having kids.

This place has really been one of the few constants, and the RP although much slower than back in the day is still kicking and some really great stories are being told. It's a pretty collaborative, low-drama place now as those who have stuck around have generally mellowed. You know, I'm sure someone would be happy to bring you up to speed if you wanted to bring Reagan or Airleas or someone back.

I know I showed up pretty late to the JNet party, 2009, but here I am being the webmaster and stuff. I love this community though which is why I do it. Welcome back!

Hey Tarrian! Good to see you. Sounds like you're reasonably happy? Great news about how your kids are doing. I've been married for 4.5yrs, have an 8week old girl and gained my Bachelor of Education with Honours First Class and have been teaching now for two full calendar years. Are you going to hang about or is this a fly-by-night visit?

HEY!!!!!!!

It's great to hear from you! It's crazy because I remember seeing a picture of the older three and the youngling as a newborn when you posted pics of your family in one of the old community threads.

Are you part of the Facebook Group too? PM me and I can add you if you're not already a member.

Hey, loved seeing how you all are. No I am not a member of the Facebook group I don't think... I am facebook friends with Lord ArPharazon... I think that was how he spelled it. My kids are so much bigger and awesome now. Strangely enough I was just talking with my youngest daughter... and she mentioned both Airleas and Reagan... LOL... Not as my characters but in general.

Mirdala Ad'Goran, I don't get on the computer as much to do much of anything other then look on facebook (all my friends can't wait till the election is over and go back to posting stupid stuff rather then Trump stuff) If someone can reexplain to me the posting of pictures I will post a new one.

If you are a Hillary fan, it's okay but don't trounce my like of Trump. I am just as entitled to like him as people are to like Hillary.

DarthBrendo, congrats on the marriage, and the new little girl... but a gun now, so that you can scar off all the boys in a few years... and sorry about those teenage years... it's gonna hurt. but they do grow up too. Good luck with the teaching. I always respect teachers, I could never be one. too many other people's kids.

Hand of Thrawn, you would not that bad. congrats on the house. Always keep learning. and congrats on the degree.

I don't know if I will be a regular, my time here is past but with the new star wars movies coming out... and the new theme park going to open in Disney in 2018... I will likely be stopping by more often.

Dahar Raikanda, sorry I know I may have been here when you started but I think I was on my way to being pretty burnt out at that point. I hope you are enjoying this place and loving it as much as I use to.

Hi Chrissie!!

Crazy to think of the time that has passed. In that time, I graduated high school, spent a couple years in music school before realizing I didn't want a music degree, dropped out to get married (which I did, a little over five years ago) and worked the gourmet coffee roaster scene in Seattle. I'm 25 now, and had my third baby in May. My oldest is four and my middle is two and a half. I stay at home with them for the time being, and have plans to go back to school in a few years to study nutrition and get certified as a childbirth educator and a few other wellness-related things.

So good to hear that all is well with you!

I've missed you Chrissie. I know what you mean about feeling old. My life has radically changed too since we started here. Still a Democrat but I respect your viewpoints nonetheless. Inbox me if you ever feel like talking on the cell. I will leave my number.

And then there is me. While others have been married, divorced, had kids, moved across the country and all that, I am in the same town I was in when I started posting here, but in a different residence. Different job but with very few different jobs over the years, only my second car since then, no marriages, kids, and a complete disdain for being around people as much as possible. I've never been into the role-playing or even the socializing that happens on or around this site, and if I hadn't bookmarked the various incarnations of this site, I wouldn't even know where it was, not that it matters. I try to avoid this kind of movie-related discussion online, especially about these movies, now anyway because it can ruin the perception of a movie. It is strange to realize it has been almost twenty years and since then, with a whole new series of unforeseen Star Wars movies and the internet being a completely different thing. Faceless messageboards, as well as chat rooms, were a better method of communication than the hotbed of narcissism and stupidity that is social networking. I wish I could go back to 1999.

Wow, some oldbies I recognize. Tarrian and Sithdawg. Now we need Darth Jade, Filthy Jawa and a few others to make the circle complete.

I am currently a Corrections Corporal at a prison in NE, 3 kids ages 22, 20, and 10. And one granddaughter who is almost 3. If I was on a computer I would post pics, I do remember how but I don't think the hyperlinking works with pics posted on Facebook and I don't have an Instagram account. I have mostly burned out on all the different social media stuff, don't care about Twitter or Snap Chat, and am new enough to Android that I won't learn to fully use it because I don't care.

I am glad to hear about how things are for everybody, good or bad. I'd love to compare with Crissie what she hates about her job and compare it to my worst days at the prison.

How are things different for you Bob?

Different job, living in a new city, new house. Kids are older, etc. Great to see you back too. I had fun times here when the boards were hopping. Wasted a lot of time here lol.

More activity than there's been in a good long while! The community aspects of the board look pretty dead, because we're all in a few large Facebook chats. But the RP is going strong. Are you planning to stick around, or just poking in to say hi?

I'll be around a bit more. My love of star wars never faded plus I did find myself missing it here every so often.

Plus I need to finally get to 10000 haha

You know, I was in my mid 20's when I first joined here. My two daughters were three and two respectively. I was in the early stages of a messy divorce which resulted in my getting custody. Thinking back, a fair percentage of the members of the JNet era were younger than me, though a few like Filthy Jawa and Tarrian were older.

Flash forward to today. I'm 40, my kids are 17 and 16, the woman I divorced wound up figuring out her life and we fell in love all over again in our 30's and remarried. She passed away earlier this year due to cancer. A few of the older members here were instrumental in helping me through the divorce and becoming a single parent.

Seeing how much has changed since 2003 has been astonishing and also sobering. My daughters are older than some of you all when I first signed up!

What else has changed? At 40 I'm now a software developer and technology professional which is a far cry from my humble beginnings in Customer Service and Finance.

2003-2005 were great times. One of my regrets was losing touch and not being active here again, even though there were a few attempts here and there to jump back in. Who knows ... maybe this time I'll stick around.

Not sure I feel old. I realize it's been over 15 years since I joined the board, which is kind of amazing to me. In that time, I've gotten a couple of degrees, a professional license, established myself fairly well in my current career (Yay for Customer Service and Finance) and am happily married with no kids, but two cats and a rabbit. Wondering if our decision not to have kids has contributed in part to that feeling of having "faked" growing up and old. I work my butt off on the job, but once off the clock and with the usual domestics chores cared for, I can usually cut loose. Almost all of my friends from high school are married, as are a couple of my good friends from college, and have kids or are having them on the way in the near future. No regrets with that decision, but it is one thing that I've noticed has set me apart from most of my old friends as well as co-workers.

Also, Rijos, seconding the welcome back.

I'm so glad you guys are doing well. Being on this board changed my life in a lot of ways.

I've been married, now I'm not, I became a game developer, and so much more has happened. I'm glad many of you are still around.
