Tython

Recommended Posts

A strong presence manifested itself within the Jedi Temple on Tython. It had built up for some time now with the beckoned help of Jedi Consular's and Naturalist, as the Temple itself now bathed within the Light Side of the Force. In fact, it was almost so strong that anyone who dwelled within the Dark Side of the Force would indeed be weakened by coming to such a place. It was apart of the grand design of the Temple, which Kitt Fitt, Jedi Grand Master himself had come up with and took him some time to build it.

It then began to call through the Force. No one could really understand why, but anyone connected to the Light Side of the Force would feel a beckoning call home, to Tython. The call started off quiet, almost like a whisper, but over time, it would grow to a strong call.

Dahar had spent some time in deep meditation. He thought over his life and all the things that had brought him to Tython. The deep rooted Force presence of the temple had brought to life awareness of the Force he had never known.

It was in one of these states that Dahar thought back on the brief time he had spent with Adenna. She was a wise and willing student to him. She needed to build confidence and he had hoped her involvement in the battle had taught her some. There were many more teachings Dahar wished to give her. He prayed to the Living Force to find his apprentice, if she were alive. He asked the Force to guide her to him here to complete her training. Little did he know the Grandmaster had already instructed the temple itself to call out to all the Jedi of the galaxy.

The first Jedi Knight to arrive in response to the call was aboard the Xanadu and was named Tirius Giovanni. He had spent some time at the Tython temple during his apprenticeship to Grandmaster Fitt, and it was possible that he had felt the call more keenly as a result. At any rate, he was punctual.

Alot had happened in the short time since he had been knighted, Tirius reflected. Going out into the galaxy, he had battled one great Sith and interacted with another. It was a galaxy full of opportunity, and he could define himself by these encounters... as he was. Now, though, things were changing. The Jedi Order was changing, and there was news that the war was waning.

Presently Tirius set his ship down at the city of Ashla and quickly disembarked, clad again in dark Jedi robes and bearing his silver lightsaber. He opened himself to the Force, but while he could feel Kitt's influence on the call itself, he couldn't actually feel his Master's presence. Perhaps he was too far away.

Taking with him a few supplies to sustain him on the journey through the woods and to the temple, Tirius set out.

Dahar was in one of the gardens doing some exercises. He contorted his body to all sorts of positions and pushed his physical limitations to grow. He was a very physical Jedi. His true master was the Force, but his body was his best friend. The Jedi often wondered if this partnership would eventually betray him. After all, everything withers away.

It was late morning when Dahar decided to go off for a jog in the woods. He was truly at peace in the lush forests that Tython had to offer. The planet felt so undisturbed and connected with the Force. Often he would run barefoot to feel the earth beneath his feet. In this way his connection with the planet itself was solid. He could feel every twist and bend beneath the surface as the planet inhaled and exhaled the Force.

The Silver Eagle began to enter Tython's atmosphere and flew through the forests until it found a nice clearing to land in. Why were we called here? Sanj wondered as he began to step out of his ship. The Knight threw his hood over his head and sent a message of his own that any force sensitive in a nearby radius would hear.

Maybe I can get some damn answers soon... The Sentinel thought to himself again. "Now then, Zakra, since we might be waiting here for a while until I get some answers, we might as well start some training, eh?" Sanj said. He then proceeded to find a rock that was the size of his fist and plop it down in front of his padawan and instructed, "I'm sure you know what I am about to ask you to do, as it is probably the most cliche thing ever, but it is still important. Focus on the rock, use the force to lift it up. Once you lift it up, I will instruct you further." Sanj then ignited his lightsaber and used it to carve a seat into a large tree and sat down on it waiting for his apprentice to use the force and all that good stuff.

Around mid day Dahar was relaxing in the third floor library. He was in one of the rooms restricted to members of the Jedi Order. His body needed a rest from some intense morning exercise so he decided to gain some knowledge on the history of the Order. Dahar had gone into brief studies during his training and decided to delve further. He read stories of some of the great ancient Jedi masters. There were tales of both war and peace.

It was during these studies that Dahar felt something through the Force. It brought him a feeling of urgency and happiness. Someone, most certainly a Jedi, had just arrived on the planet and put out a homing call of sorts. As a padawan Dahar would have not recognized much more than a whisper in the Force but his awareness had grown greatly over time.

It was with great joy that he answered the call with his own. He beamed out to the caller (Sanj) to alert him of his whereabouts. Hopefully the newly arrived Jedi would be able to follow the Force to Ashla and then through the forest to the temple. Dahar now knew this Jedi's unique Force imprint and would be able to feel him getting close.

Granndmaster Kitt had sent him here to prepare the temple as the new home for the Jedi. It would be an honor to greet the first arrived.

Tirius' journey through the forest was thankfully uneventful. The reasons behind it were not just the secrecy and security of the Jedi Temple that awaited on the far side, but also as a sort of time of forced reflection. On this matter, the walk did wonders for Tirius. Since his knighting, he had remained very much in touch with the Force, but he hadn't had even a spare moment to meditate. As he walked, however, he submersed himself in its calming powers and got back to his Jedi basics.

Presently, though, he was emerging from the forest at the Temple, spiritually and mentally refreshed. The galaxy was a place of mixed morality and shades of gray. During one's studies as a Jedi apprentice, everything seemed so black and white, as though one could always distinguish the dark side from the light. This was not always the case, but by being as close to the Force as he could, Tirius felt much better equipped to negotiate such situations.

For the moment, however, he didn't have to worry about it. Here, he would be among the Jedi. Moral ambiguity was not on his list of philosophical conundrums to tackle today. Through the Force he felt that there was already at least one Jedi here ((Dahar)), and he decided to set out for that man's location.

Immediately upon the GrassTiger's reversion to realspace, Dashel requested permission to land at Burksed's shop to speak with the man concerning Kala's recent additions to the ship's arsenal. The upgrades currently in place were simply too much, and in his opinion, a great deal of work was needed to return the ship to being worthy of a Jedi. Then again, maybe he needed to simply acquire a different ship entirely.

He left that decision for another time. A sense of gentle urgency gripped the Triani Jedi concerning the quiet from of Kari Kohl in the aft cargo bay. Other than an occasional twitch as if she was dreaming something unpleasant, she had lain dormant for the entire trip.

Tython's fledgling space control quickly provided him an orbital window for landing on the planet. Gently, he brought the ship into a landing at Burksed's shipyard. The ramp was still descending when Burksed approached the ship and called out to him.

”œJedi Dashel, welcome home,”

Zarka tilted his head as he walked out of the Silver Eagle. The planet itself was very awake to the Force, and even more so, beautiful with all of it's green and mountain ridges all over. He was purely amazed at just the sight of the planet. He did his best to stay close to his master as they walked, but his master only went so far before he decided that they had gone far enough. To his surprise, his training was to start right now. Watching his master carve out a seat for him in the rock, the Twi'lek stared at it at first, trying to sense it within the Force.

"I will do my best master."

Lifting his hand, he began to feel the energy around the rock. It was there, not as alive as his master was, but still there. Reaching out as he was taught, he touched it with the Force, attempting to lift it. In his mind, he tried to envision the rock lifting and taking off of the ground, yet when he opened his eyes, the rock was still on the ground. He frowned and then attempted it again. This time, he tried to find the Force to command the rock to what what he envisioned within his own mind. Opening his eyes, still nothing. The rock was not moving for him.

"It may too big for me master."

Still in the library Dahar could sense another arrival. This wasn't the Jedi who had put out a Force call but it was a Jedi nonetheless. The being was close, perhaps already at the temple. Dahar put away the datapad he was reading and made his way down to the bottom floor.

At ground level one could always hear the sound of rain in the background. In actuality it was the sound of the huge waterfall pouring into the lake at its bottom. Dahar made his way to the glistening pool to await the arrival of his Jedi companion (Tirius).

A small mixture of transports, freighters, and a small escort of fighters dropped out of hyperspace and began heading toward Ashla. The lead ship transmitted identification codes showing them to be the last convoy from the Gala Temple carrying Jedi Padawans and younglings as well as the more dedicated staff workers. It took over two hours to land and begin the process of organizing the transfer of supplies to some of the offices that would have to serve for the administrative aspects of the Order while the Jedi were in the blackout zone.

After everyone had packed up their bags of whatever personal belongings they wanted to bring to the Temple, the gathered Jedi began the journey through the majestic forests. During the trip, the younglings, who had less of a burden, ran around chasing each other or simply enjoying the hike. They were young and full of energy from the excitement of a change in pace. The older younglings and Padawans were a little more reserved, but still enjoyed the sensation of life and purity found on the planet.

Adenna walked in the middle of the group keeping mostly to herself. She had been with the Jedi for a comparatively short time and had spent most of that time either training or in the Library. As result, she had no real friends and only casually recognized some of the others who tended to stay in the Library or eat at the same time as she. Occasionally, she would talk a few minutes with them, but most of the time she spent walking in silence while spreading out her senses to detect as much of the forest as she could.

She focused on healing herself during most of the trip which had taken several days since they were coming from Gala on the inner edge of the Outer Rim to a destination in the Deep Core. As result, her side was almost fully healed and showed only a scar that she was told she could easily have removed should she desire it. Despite being healed up, the entire area was a little tender as though she had a horrible bruise without the discoloration. She hoped that too would go away in a few days.

As they were nearing the Temple, many of the Jedi grew excited. Many were eager to settle down in the new Temple. Adenna felt a familiar presence that caused her heart to beat faster. Dahar!, she thought to herself. She could hardly believe that her teacher was here. She didn't know how he arrived, but the closer they got, the more she was sure it was him.

When they arrived, there were not many Jedi there, but a couple came out to greet the new arrivals and guide them to where they needed to go. With dozens of youngings and dozens more Padawans with their Knights or Masters, the Temple was bound to be more busy than it had been. The Masters began corralling the younglings toward their dorms and helping them to settle in, but a few escaped and began roaming the halls exploring. Padawans were sent after them, but they were happy and excited.

Before one of the Masters could give her a task, Adenna broke from the group and went toward the presence of her teacher. She didn't even wait to find a place to put her bags, but just carried them with her as she navigated the unfamiliar passageways and halls trying to find where Dahar was. At last, she came to a waterfall with a beautiful and peaceful view of a lake. She squinted in the sunlight and used her Force senses to help her find where Dahar was. When she located him, she trotted down to where he was and approached him with great excitement.

It didn't take long for Tirius to find the Jedi he had felt earlier, even though it became clear that the Temple was starting to bustle as more and more showed up. As he approached, he bowed in the traditional Jedi greeting, then looked around. "Looks like something big's about to happen," he said. "Do you know what?"

The call he had felt in the Force had been somewhat non-specific. It had told him to come to Tython, but no purpose was listed. He suspected that it had something to do with the galactic events that were taking place. Even where he had been, he hadn't been out-of-touch with the fact that something big was happening. There was little doubt that Master Fitt was in the middle of whatever that was, and if it was ending, maybe a meeting with all Jedi was necessary.

The rest was a mystery. Tirius didn't know the exact nature of the big event, nor why it would require the entire Order to convene on one world.

So many people, Avyn thought upon leaving the large transport. Many people of various ages, sizes, and species surrounded him, each searching for their master or making light conversations with the quick acquaintances they had made during the trip. Some of them looked as lost as he felt.

He remembered being told to await a master, but he wasn't sure which of these Jedi's were his. He also remembered hearing that he was supposed to walk through the massive forest to reach the enclave.

With just a vibroblade, a seemingly malfunctioning comm, a datapad, and a handful of credits, Avyn had no idea how he was supposed to tackle the walk by himself.

Perhaps that was part of the Jedi test.

Surveying his surroundings before making a decision, Avyn noticed that no one else seemed to be going through the forest by themselves. Then again, some of these Jedi hopefuls knew who their master was and what they looked like.

Avyn had never seen a Wookiee in his life, much less a Wookiee Jedi.

So, considering where everyone else was eventually heading, Avyn chose to go ahead and find his way to the enclave. If he didn't know what his master looked like, he assumed he'd find out at the enclave.

As Dahar waited by the lake his senses began to flood with the presence of Jedi. They were arriving in waves. Grandmaster Kitt must have given the migration orders. There was one entity in particular that he quickly recognized. It was that of his padawan, Adenna.

As the caravan from Gala arrived Dahar went to greet the newcomers. He introduced himself to some of the masters, giving them the run down on the temple and instructions on where to quarter. On the far side of the lake something grabbed Dahar's attention, and when he looked he saw a glimpse of his apprentice heading towards him. He was pleased that her Force powers had grown to where she could locate him.

Dahar was quite happy to see Adenna who came towards him smiling. When she arrived he gave her a friendly hug. "Adenna, I am so pleased that you have arrived," he paused for a moment thinking of the dreadful battle that nearly took his life, "And alive for that matter. Tell me of your travels since our departure!"

Before they began to converse a human Jedi about his age approached the two. Dahar bowed and answered the man. "Well, I have an idea of what is going on. Unfortunately as of yet I still have not heard from the Grandmaster." Dahar looked over at Adenna and back to the Jedi. "My name is Dahar Raikanda, this is my apprentice Adenna Alluyen. As far as what is going on Master Kitt instructed me to come here and prepare this new temple for the arrival of the Jedi Order. I don't know why but I know that, for now, we are all gathering here. Hopefully the Grandmaster will be able to shed some light on the situation when he arrives."

Tirius met each of the Jedi's eyes as he greeted them by name. "Pleased to meet you, Adenna; well met, Dahar. I'm Tirius Giovanni. I was knighted a few months ago. Kitt was my Master," he said. Amusingly, Kitt hadn't been the Grandmaster when Tirius' training had begun, but he had gained the title along the way. Despite having been Kitt's apprentice, he hadn't heard anything from the older Jedi about this meeting, which spoke to its secrecy. Whatever was going on, Kitt didn't seem to want non-Jedi to know about it.

Which reinforced Tirius' decision on his departure to come here. He'd not said anything about it except that he had Jedi duties, and had taken precautions not to be followed. Given the company he had been with, it was comforting to know that he hadn't led anyone here.

Adenna gave a quick bow of respect to the other Knight but kept her primary attention on her teacher. "Not much has happened. I didn't fare very well on the Death Star, ended up getting shot pretty badly. Master Kirlocca and the Grandmaster were unable to take the command center and we were forced to retreat. I got dumped on a med-evac and made it out shortly before the Helix was destroyed. After that, I healed up and was ordered to come here with the rest of the Jedi from Gala."

She had plenty to say, but didn't know Tirius and wasn't sure what to say. She didn't want to ramble on with more details when a more senior Jedi may have things to say.

Sanj frowned for a second as Zakra failed to lift it. The Knight quickly shoved it off, he knew that he was expecting too much, but he wanted to test Zakra's limitations. "It's OK, here, let me get you a smaller one." The Sentinel walked around for a bit until he found a rock half the size of the first one. Sanj then walked back to Zakra and placed it down in front of his padawan. He then said, "Here, try to do it with this one, try to utilize the strength of the force that is in these lands." Sanj was about to teach two lessons; how to use the force to lift things and to use your surroundings to your advantage.

Sanj sat back down in his chair carved into a tree and for the first time, actually looked around. This place truly is beautiful, no wonder someone chose this place to call forth the Jedi order. Sanj quickly snapped back to watch his apprentice as he began to attempt to lift the rock.

The shadows danced below Tares' feet on the ground. It seemed almost unnatural to be back in a forest, particularly after having left his shore side home on Corellia. Having grown up on Coruscant, it was a wonder that he'd grown used to nature at all. Still though, most of the time he preferred wide open plains. Perhaps that made sense considering it was the exact opposite of the canyons of buildings found on his home planet. Wide open land... it gave him a freer sense of things.

He had been on Corellia when the Force had somehow beckoned him to this planet. Personally, he had never been to Tython. And yet, something felt familiar about the location. The geography itself was similar to several other planets found around the galaxy. But still, something within the Force made this place feel welcoming and warm. While the feeling hadn't made it clear as to why Tares should come here, it was warm enough to trust.

After landing in the city, Tares had gotten a better sense as to why he had been "called" so to speak. There were Jedi gathering around the city, and slowly walking into the forest. He wasn't sure why, but it made sense that after all the galactic events turning everything upside down, the Jedi would come together to reclaim something lost. In a way, they were doing exactly the same thing Tares had been trying to do over the past year: find itself again.

It wasn't long before Tares had made his way through the forest and into the Jedi conclave. Even more Jedi were present now. Soon, it would be only a matter of time before the rest of the Order came together to discuss what lie in store for the future....

Dahar was happy to make acquaintance with one of his fellow Jedi. "Master Kitt is a great man. I fought alongside his fighter at the Death Star battle. I hope he is alright." Dahar paused for a moment. "I recieved a message from the temple on behalf of the Grandmaster to come here and prepare for the Jedi to come. I haven't personally spoken to him yet. I'm not sure what his plans are but I know that for now this place is home." Dahar bowed to the Jedi. "I suggest you find yourself a room and contact me when you are settled in. Perhaps I can give you a tour of the woods."

Dahar turned to his apprentice and beckoned her to follow him.

Adenna was more than happy to follow her teacher. Whatever he had in mind was fine with her because she wanted to see how he fared and ended up here. She also wanted to learn more things and possibly earn the right to wear a lightsaber. She still had the one Dahar had given her for the battle, Kirlocca did not accept it even after she offered it back to him. Right now, she felt that it was almost dragging her down because she didn't feel worthy of carrying it.

Even more than that, she wanted to learn how to use the Force to do more things. She knew of so many things Jedi could do, but didn't know how to do them. She had the basics of things like telekinesis, sensing the environment, and now healing, but she wanted to learn more advanced things and to perfect the things she already knew. It took patience to pace herself because Adenna knew that Dahar might have more important things to do than just teach her.

Dahar and Adenna talked as they journeyed into the temple. "It is good to see you alive Adenna. I fought alongside Master Kitt in one of the Jedi Aces at that battle. I was nearly killed and awoke at Kamino." Dahar felt a slight chill. "I do not know why the empire spared my life but I am grateful. When I checked in with Gala I found the Grandmaster had left me instructions to come here and make preparations."

The two continued through the hallways and up some stairs. "I am taking you to the library. I would like to show you the Jedi only section. Tell me, what has happened to you since our departure at the Double Helix?"

Adenna was pleased to know that her teacher hadn't been killed and forced to be cloned like Master Kirlocca had. She wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of clones yet, even if she did realize its value in cheating death. She didn't see any extra scars on Dahar from his injuries, but guessed that they may be concealed under his robes like hers were.

"Master Kirlocca and our team boarded the Death Star as planned. We encountered some other allies and some that weren't so much allies before running into Imperials. We managed to fight off one group, but were ordered to retreat. I think there was a scare that the Empire was going to destroy the station or flood the areas we were in with a toxic gas or something.

"It wasn't long before we were recalled back at a different entry point. We met up with the Grandmaster and charged toward the command center once more. This time, we made it there and the Grandmaster slipped through the door guards to attack the room itself. That left Master Kirlocca, myself, and our surviving team to deal with the cluster of guards."

Her voice lowered a little as she continued, "I was not strong enough and was shot in the side and grazed on my arm so I had to retreat. The commandos didn't survive and Master Kirlocca barely withdrew. While I was trying to patch myself up, he went in to help the Grandmaster, but were forced back by some large explosion. With both myself and the Grandmaster disabled, Master Kirlocca decided to retreat.

"We made it out and back to the Helix. I was stabilized and sent out on a medevac shuttle to Gala. From there, I worked on healing myself up until I was ordered once again by Master Kirlocca to come here with the rest of the Temple's Jedi."

Zakra closed his eyes and began to attempt to lift the rock again. It was smaller, and therefore he felt as if he could feel more of it. Doing as he was taught so many times, he stretched out with his perceptions within the Force and found the rock. Trying to find the flow of the Force and alter it enough to command it to lift. Unlike times before, he didn't feel resistance or a lack of attempt. Because of this, he opened his eyes to see the rock slowly rising through the air. As he saw, the Twi'lek became overjoyed.

"I'm lifting it!"

As if on cue, the rock immediately fell to the ground. Zakra look from the rock to his Master with great confusion.

Dahar walked with his apprentice and listened to her tales. When they reached the Jedi library he brought her to the lightsaber section. There were plans and details for every type of saber one could imagine, everything from water resistant to double-bladed.

Dahar turned to his apprentice, "I am very pleased with the experience you have gained. Always remember, the Force is your greatest ally. A Jedi is never alone because we are in constant connection with it. Through the Force you can do things you never thought possible. However, as I'm sure you have seen, one should not underestimate the power of the Dark Side. It will lure you in with promise of ease and power, but the price you pay will be your consumption."

"Adenna, your training is nearly finished." Dahar reached into his robes and pulled out a bright orange crystal. He could feel the Force radiating from it. "During repairs of my own saber the Force led me to this crystal. I knew right away that it wasn't for me, but for you. There are many crystals locked away here for Jedi to use but I can say with certainty this one will suit you well." He reached out to place the glowing stone in his apprentice's hand. "With this crystal you shall construct a lightsaber. It will be uniquely your own. I want you to immerse yourself in the Force and let it guide you. All the technical information you need can be found here. The initial activation however will require you to be connected with the Force and your weapon."

"I will of course be here if you need assistance."

Adenna eyed the gem that her teacher had given her with awe at its radiance and color. The crystal was beautiful and of a color she immensely liked, a warm, soothing orange that lured her into the Force. "Thank you, teacher," she said, "I will get to work on the lightsaber right away." She still had the one that Dahar had given to her for the battle, but that wasn't really hers. What she was going to build was going to be.

She had never been technical or good with machines, so she was going to need help. As her teacher had mentioned, there were various computers around the temple would offer plenty of instructions, but she would try to enlist the help of a droid or her teacher to check things over at critical steps. She smiled at Dahar with glee in her eyes and quickly went off to begin downloading the needed information onto her datapad.

It took a few hours before she was able to actually begin working on the lightsaber itself. As she had just arrived with many others, she had to get room assignments and unpack her things. She spent the entire time that took thinking about the gem now in her pocket, eager for the chance to make her own lightsaber.

As soon as she had finished her work and settled in, she went to the small desk, took out the gem and datapad and began digging in. Though she didn't dare take it apart, she did have the generic lightsaber Dahar had given her to use as a baseline for things like weight and balance that were not so easily explained over a datapad. Before she did any actual gathering of supplies, Adenna read and learned about as much of the various styles of lightsabers as possible. She didn't want to have just any lightsaber nor did she want to make a standard hilt. For some time, since well before she even scraped up enough money to purchase a ticket to Gala, she had dreamed about her lightsaber and how she would make it.

From the start, she knew that she wanted to have a lightsaber that was not just a lethal weapon. While she was fully aware that Jedi were sometimes required to take a life, she wanted to minimize those instances as much as possible but still not be helpless and unable to pull her own weight. While she had been training with Dahar and other Padawans, she became fascinated with the training lightsaber. It was a fully functioning lightsaber that could block blaster shots, other lightsabers, and yet still not kill. If adjusted properly, they could act almost as solid rods or the opposite and be made "softer" to where the energy field allowed more matter inside. That would result in either a slight zap or a very nasty burn depending on how the settings were adjusted.

Some research had revealed that the differences between training lightsabers and their regular counterparts were fairly minimal. The only thing it took to convert most lightsabers into non-lethal weapons was some time, machinery, and willingness to adjust the settings. However, on a battlefield, Jedi didn't have that time and it was better to have the real deal in emergencies than to be stuck with a training saber when they needed more power. Adenna wasn't going to risk being stuck in such a situation with just a training saber when she needed to cut through a door or the armor on an attack walker, but she wanted to be able to utilize the non-lethal option as well. It wouldn't be incredibly difficult to make a lightsaber that could be easily adjusted with just a twist or flick of a button, so Adenna decided that would be her goal.

She knew that her skills in metallurgy were fairly weak and she never liked the idea of a purely metal lightsaber. Since she was young, she had enjoyed forests and the short trips out of the city that her family rarely got to take. Shen she had gotten older and when it was discovered that she could theoretically become a Jedi, Adenna had dreamed of making a lightsaber out of something that was part of the forest, something that was once alive. After five straight hours of pouring over not just technical data, but images of other lightsaber hilts, a plan was beginning to form in her head about what she wanted hers to look like.

For the next two days, Adenna gathered the simple pieces and parts to her lightsaber in between training sessions with Dahar. The workshop that normally maintained and repaired the various machines and ships the Jedi used offered her help in using the lathe to etch beams of metal to form the inner casings. Adenna wanted something organic to be part of the hilt, but she knew that various metals, wires, and magnets were absolutely necessary to handle the energy being channeled and focused.

On the third day, Adenna took a walk after breakfast in the surrounding forests looking for what she would add to her hilt. She knew she wanted something that was organic and that was alive to be part of her hilt, but she would not kill any living thing to provide that material. She knew a lightsaber was a weapon at heart, but she did not want to kill something just to construct it, that was not something she felt comfortable with. Instead, she walked through the forest alone while stretching out with the Force to sense the life around her.

The sun had already peaked when she found something that drew her. There was a tree that had fallen to form a clearing in the forest. With sun able to reach the ground, grass and small seedlings had began to grow in its place making for a very nice little canopy gap. While the gap was nice and peaceful, it was the fallen tree that caught Adenna's eye. The wood was a nice tan color and the gain looked sort of like roo-wood, but she wasn't sure as she doubted the tree grew on Tython. Still, the weather and wind had worn the outer bark off and began to harden the inner layer. Rot had not yet taken hold and the wood was still strong. The wood itself was a light sandy color that exhibited warmth and openness instead of being cold and dark.

With a moment of clarity and assuredness, she decided that this would be the thing that she added to her lightsaber's hilt. She looked around the fallen tree for several minutes mentally selecting various parts that would had the needed width and were straight enough. After she had located six different samples, she took the loaner lightsaber she had and carefully cut the dead branches to remove those pieces. Each was the size of her forearm and was about as thick as the handle of her current saber, so she felt confident that of the six, she would find at least one that would prove suitable.

Upon arriving at the Temple, she skipped a late lunch and went straight to the workshops. While they did not often work with wood, the same lathe used to carve out metal parts of her hilt earlier was easily adapted to hollow out the wood itself. Adenna worked with the mechanics and a droid to test the wood to find the strongest and most stable of elements before they began their work. Of the six samples, only three proved to be without splits or flaws. Carefully, without wanting to damage the wood, the droid used the lathe to hollow them out.

The wood itself would quickly give to wear and tear if she didn't treat it further. The head mechanic had nothing to treat it with, but promised he would order a small shipment from the city that would arrive no sooner than four days. That was good enough for Adenna as she still had plenty to do before she was ready to use the wood itself. She took the time to add some decorative features to the metal chassis that would customize it and simply look good. The lathe came in handy, but she was eventually forced to use the services of the droid to do some of the finer etching as that was beyond her skill level. With that done, she still needed to gather the electronic components and begin to fit them appropriately into the metal chassis.

Adenna picked up the parts that were not easily hand crafted such as the diatium cells, the field energizers, magnetic ring, and the circuitry. With those parts, she was now able to begin fitting them into the chassis. For half a day, she began putting in the various pieces and parts and soldered them where needed. She put in a clear focusing crystal from the Temple stores but did not place the orange one Dahar had given her into the primary slot just yet. That would be the last thing for her to put in just before activating the lightsaber. She also worked on an additional electromagnetic converter that would be able to slide into place and instantly change the lightsaber's beam from lethal to training strength.

On the morning four days after she found the wood, Adenna went back to the workshop with her nearly completed lightsaber hilt. It was time to treat the wood cores she had found. The mechanics helped her prepare the sodium silicate solutions needed to infuse the wood into something far more durable and lasting. The wood had to soak in the solutions for a day to allow the fibers to absorb the compound and harden into a glass like coating that would protect the wood itself from wear and tear.

For the rest of that day and the next, Adenna practiced using telekinesis on extremely small parts in preparation for manipulating the pieces of the lightsaber into place. Dahar worked with her some, but let her learn on her own so she could rely on herself rather than him. Her skills with telekinesis were improving, but mainly with small things, not epically large tasks such as moving starfighters or toppling buildings. That strength would come in time, but for the moment she didn't need to do those things.

Rising early as had become a habit for her, she went to the workshop even before the mechanics arrived and looked at the three wood samples waiting. She took the three out and placed them in a drying chamber to speed the drying process and harden the solution. There really was little else she could do, so she went back to work on the circuits that made up her lightsaber. By dinner time, everything was complete on the mechanical side of things. Only the wooden hilt was left to place.

With breathless intensity, Adenna brought the metal chassis and the various buttons to the workshop for sizing and was greeted by the head mechanic who was waiting for her with the three pieces of wood. Adenna wanted the wood to fit in three sections over her hilt. The first part near the emitter would be the sliding portion that allowed her to switch between a lethal blade and a training version in a second. The second and third pieces would go around the part of the chassis that allowed her access to the crystals as well as being the insertion point for the parts on its initial construction.

For the larger two parts, Adenna choose a single piece of wood so the grain would remain uniform. For the part nearest the emitter, she choose a separate piece. The pieces of wood were measured and cut appropriately. Holes for the buttons were drilled into the wood to match the holes in the chassis. Adenna decided to apply some decorative etching on the third piece: a simple finely wrought spiral applied by the lathe. When the work was done, the mechanic applied a thin, clear lacquer that would further strengthen and protect the wood.

Since the wood itself would be surrounded by metal both beneath and to the sides, it couldn't just be slid on. That meant that the wood had to be carefully cut in half and placed around the chassis then glued on. To make the cut as seamless as possible, the mechanic allowed Adenna to use a fine laser cutter normally used to etch details into metal plaques or sculptures. Adenna used the Force to steady her hands and get a clean cut that removed almost no matter and therefore wouldn't show when she glued the pieces onto the chassis. The glue was a special, permanent sealant style glue that was strong enough to seal starfighter parts. It would be more than enough to keep the wood attached to Adenna's hilt.

As she worked in the workshop to begin fitting and gluing the pieces into their final resting places, Adenna didn't realize how much time had passed. She was the only one left, even the helpful mechanic had gone home. The droid was still on hand, but she no longer needed it. With a shrug of indifference, Adenna renewed her intense focus on the task at hand and shut out everything else.

Everything was coming together and would soon be ready for her to insert the orange crystal itself. She could feel the parts and pieces through the Force even as they were slid into the chassis beyond eyesight. She had worked on or prepared for this nonstop for around two weeks and had come to know the pieces intimately. She didn't come into this task as an expert lightsaber maker, but she would leave it with as at least a decent one.

When everything was ready and fit into place, Adenna drew in a deep breath as she inserted the orange crystal Dahar had given her into its appropriate slot. Lack of oxygen forced her to release her breath and draw in a new one as she screwed in the two main pieces of the hilt. With the Force, she reached in and moved the tiny lock that would seal the hilt into place and prevent a non-Force user from simply unscrewing it. There were two buttons, a red one toward the rear that was the primary ignition. The second was a blue button at near the emitter on the third part. When pressed and the third piece was twisted, that blue button would slide into place the second emitter ring that was pre-adjusted to mimic a training saber thus giving her the near instant "stun" feature she wanted.

Everything was ready for her to press the button and see if the lightsaber would ignite. She had done everything she had read and everything was in place. With a single effort, Adenna drew all her Force energy and focus into the tiny cylinder of metal, crystal, and wood and pressed the button.

Nothing happened.

Adenna stared in shock at the emptiness and pressed the button again just in case and still nothing. Suddenly, all of her stress and work caught up with her and her exhaustion caused something to snap for a split second. Adenna let loose a string of curses she had heard around the spaceport but had never dared say aloud and slammed the hilt onto the workbench.

As soon as she did, a brilliant orange blade hissed out nearly cutting into the lathe she had been using earlier. Adenna quickly double tapped the ignition button and the blade disappeared. It took her mind a few seconds to conclude that perhaps she had been a tiny bit off in her initial work and it had taken the impact against the workbench to jar the last piece into place to function.

It wasn't exactly a textbook first time, but after a few more successful tests of her lightsaber, she found it worked perfectly fine, including the stun adapter. After the frustration of seeing her blade not work and the released adrenaline into her system, all she could do was laugh at the irony while she admired her new orange lightsaber.

Sanj watched with pride as Zakra lifted up the rock, he was a fast learner. The Knight almost smiled as his padawan yelled with glee at his accomplishment, Sanj new what would happen next. Sanj was not surprised when the rock fell down back to the earth.

The Knight then listened to Zakra's confused question letting the slightest sign of a grin show. "Well if by what happened you are referring to why the rock dropped, the answer is quite simple. You lost focus and therefore you were unable to keep the rock in the air. Now then, now that you have a feel of how to lift things using the force, try to lift the first rock I gave you. Remember, size matters not."

Time passed while Adenna was working on her lightsaber. During the times she wasn't busy with construction Dahar kept her quite busy with training. He believed that physical fitness was extremely important to a Jedi and it was his task to guide his apprentice in the improvement of her body. They went out into the forest at least once a day to work on different things. Under his guidance Adenna's abilities were improving. Dahar had worked hard to be able to achieve incredible running speed and made his padawan to try and keep up. She didn't yet have his abilities but he knew in time she would master her own. Together they would move through the forest with precision. He taught her to rely on the Force to guide her motions. This would help a Jedi to move at incredible speeds and not end up face first into a tree. Through the Force and Dahar's teachings Adenna was learning to run, jump, and use her intuition like a Jedi.

They also spent time reviewing the Jedi Code and the responsibilities of a Jedi. They would talk for hours about what it meant to be a Jedi and how to properly use the Force. They would meditate together and allow the Force to move between them like a breeze. Adenna's abilities in telekinesis were also improving. Through practice, meditation, and application she was learning to manipulate small objects with the Force.

With excitement Adenna would share with him her progress on her lightsaber. Dahar was quite impressed at his apprentice's idea. Her desire to have a weapon that could be used lethally and non-lethally showed him that she had compassion and was attune to the will of the Force. When Adenna was finally ready to ignite her new weapon she invited her master to watch. He could sense great disappointment in her when the lightsaber initially did not activate. This was replaced by joy on both their parts, and a chuckle on his, when it ignited after being banged on the table.

Seeing Adenna hold her newly constructed weapon reminded him of the first time he activated his own. Construction of a lightsaber is a turning point in a Jedi's training. After that point an apprentice's main focus is to prepare for the trials.

"Very good Adenna, very good!" Dahar smiled at his apprentice. "Your desire to create this weapon shows much about your character. A Jedi understands that the only time to take a life is when all other possibilities have been exhausted. Your new weapon will give you yet another way to peacefully resolve a conflict. I am very proud of you." Dahar put his had on her shoulder. "You have learned much and grown in the Force. I believe your training is nearly complete, my apprentice."

Now that Adenna had her own Jedi weapon they would focus on training her lightsaber skills. Increasingly more time was spent each day exercising these abilities. Dahar was an accomplished blastsword fighter before becoming a Jedi so he had a saber style uniquely his own. He did his best to impart this knowledge to Adenna. It was an aggressive fighting style but the main focus was on neutralization. In the blastsword arena one would usually disable his opponent before a kill. Never had Dahar thought that these techniques would help him to be a better Jedi.

With much practice Adenna's skills grew. She was now able to hold her own against her teacher. It was late afternoon as they sparred in the forest. After a while Dahar sat down and invited his padawan to sit across from him. Their bodies had been pushed hard that day so he spoke to her between gasps. "Tell me... Adenna... Why... do you... wish... to be a Jedi..." Dahar took a deep breath and allowed the Force to fill his being and relax him. "And what are your plans after you are knighted?"

After finishing her lightsaber and receiving the congratulations from her teacher, Adenna had to go and sleep. Despite the excitement, her body was drained from early mornings, late nights, constant work, and hard training. Not even the Force could sustain her forever. She slept in a little later than normal and was grateful that Dahar let her get an extra hour of sleep.

The first thing she did after cleaning up was to go to the Temple armory and proudly return the lightsaber Dahar had given her for the battle. She didn't need it any longer and was more than happy to use her new one. She wore it on her belt and was getting used to its slightly different length and weight. That didn't matter because this one was hers and nobody else's.

After that, it was back to work. Without a battle interrupting them, there was time to continue to teach her lightsaber technique and the use of the Force. She was growing to fully trust the Force and was almost constantly aware of its ebbs and flows. Unlike her early weeks of training, it took no effort to immerse herself in it and sometimes took conscious effort to back out of its stream.

Her body was also changing. When she had come to Gala, she was an underweight young woman who was in only moderate shape. Now, with proper food from the cafeteria, exercise, and physical workouts for hours a day, she was gaining weight and developing an athletic figure. Since arriving, she had put on fifteen pounds and no longer looked like skin and bones. She was no bodybuilder and would never be a heavyweight, but she was quick and agile.

That agility translated into her lightsaber styles. The pain and embarrassment of being shot on the Death Star made her determined never to have it happen again. She worked with multiple remotes to increase her speed and ability to deflect blaster attacks from several different sources. She also realized that her skills lie not in aggression, but in defense, so she coupled the blaster blocking skills with the defensive Form III. It wouldn't make her a spectacular attacker, but it would enable her to defend herself and others while either an opportunity to defeat her foes presented itself or while allies took advantage of the situation and attacked.

Dahar added a few interesting things to her arsenal from his own experience, but she did not always feel comfortable using them yet and primarily stuck to defense. Despite that, she was fascinated at the brief tales of his pre-Jedi life on Adumar. She was surprised that he had killed people outside of war. At first, it seemed like cold blooded murder, but over time and with consideration, she decided that it wasn't quite murder since both parties were armed and agreed to fight knowing death could result. She didn't like it, but didn't judge her teacher, either. He had come to the Jedi and no longer did those things.

They had just finished sparring when he asked her what she planned to do with herself once she became a Knight. As was normal against her teacher, she was very winded and covered in sweat, dirt, and leaves from the forest and took several seconds to answer. The delay wasn't that she didn't have an answer to his questions, but that she was simply out of breath.

When she had somewhat caught her breath, she said confidently, "I wish to be a Jedi to protect those who can't protect themselves. It is idealistic, but I want to bring justice to those who break the laws and harm others. I want to save those who are their victims so they can have a better life. Most of all, I want to end slavery and slavers."

She had to wait a little longer to fully catch her breath before continuing. "You know I grew up on Thalassia, a speck of nothing in the Outer Rim brutalized by the Thalassian Slavers. They plied the space lanes raiding ships and attacking colonies for slaves to be sold to groups like the Hutts. When they weren't out gathering new slaves, they were on Thalassia terrorizing the population and keeping what little government was there under their control. Many times, they would cull the population and take choice slaves or conscript young men into their ranks.

"The first thing I will do after I am knighted is to ask the Council for permission to gather a task force to return to Thalassia and drive out the slavers." Her face was flush and her right eye was twitching with emotion as she continued. "Teacher, you know me, I am not one who wishes to kill or see death, but if there were ever beings that needed to die, it would be those slavers. The things they do to their slaves and the way they sometimes sold them in markets on Thalassia haunt my nightmares to this day."

She took a deep breath and calmed herself. "I know I cannot handle them alone and I doubt the New Republic will suddenly care about a small planet in the middle of nowhere, not after all these decades of everyone ignoring us. I can only hope that with my voice, the Jedi will realize the horrible injustices going on there and decide it is worthy of their attention to stop it. I will abide by the decision of the Council regarding my assignments, but I do hope they will allow me to purge the Galaxy of those slavers and see them all in chains or buried forever."

Kirlocca's personal starfighter ebtered the Tython system as a long journey from Gala. The ride was very soothing for the Jedi Master, and Kirlocca couldn't explain why. His mind wasn't focused as he would have liked it to be on his way towards the planets surface, but it wasn't something that he could will to happen, unlike most times. Instead, he allowed for himself to remain onfocused as he landed in a private landing dock at Ashla. As he paid for his landing and needed maintence of the dock, he began to walk towards the Jedi Temple deep within the forest of Tython.
