Hours later, a funeral was arranged for his grandfather. The man's body was placed on a sturdy pile of lumber, with his body set alight. He had found out from Kirana that many Jedi were cremated after they died, though she was open to any sort of burial that Jhoren had in mind. He chose to go with cremation. He was sure that his grandfather would have wanted that, as well.

The funeral had lasted for about twenty minutes, which included him, Kirana, and every single farmhand. In all, there were ten of them there. One of the men, a large, muscular-looking brute, blew his nose on his dirty sleeve, though the rest of them mourned in distressing silence. Jhoren stood next to Kirana, watching the flames go up around the body of his grandfather, and eventually catch onto him. As it turned out, he had a set of robes ”“ although neglected ”“ in his bedroom closet. One of the other hands had dressed him in those by Jhoren's request. The man left no will, though he decided to leave most of his belongings with the farmhands. The only thing he took that belonged to his grandfather was the pendant that hung around his neck. He had always admired it since he was a small child, with its gem, which was ruby, and golden-plated base. Everything else that belonged to him, though, he decided to leave. His own possessions, however, were a different story. When he left with Kirana, he was going to bring along his blaster rifle, which his grandfather had given him when he was thirteen, as well as several sets of clothing. He wasn't sure if he was going to be given a set of robes from Kirana, but he figured that it couldn't hurt to play it safe in case he wasn't given any.

Finally, after the fire eventually turned to ash, as well as his grandfather's body, Jhoren walked over to the man who was crying during the cremation. He was a dark-skinned, large, physically fit human. His name was Tek Bohan. Adriav had hired him when Jhoren was six-years-old. He grew up with the farmhands, though Tek was the first man who Adriav had ever hired. Both Tek and Jhoren formed a strong bond over the eleven years that they had known each other. The man had taught Jhoren how to use a blaster in his free time ”“ against his grandfather's wishes, of course.

After the funeral was over, Kira waited quietly while Jhoren set things to order. As he spoke to Tek, the Jedi Master nodded in his direction, confirming that he was to be trained in the Jedi ways.

Once everyone had said goodbye, Kira led the way up the boarding ramp, pointing towards the bunkroom that would be his. "Do you want to bring the speeder, or leave it here at the farm?"

She let him decide and once that was done, she headed to the cockpit, indicating for him to take the co-pilots seat. Entering the co-ordinates for the Jedi Temple, the Lost Soul soon lifted from the ground, pointing in it's direction.

"Being a Jedi will not always be easy. Your Grandfather wished to protect you from the wars that you will inevitably participate in. Currently there is a truce between the Empire and the Republic but somehow I doubt that will last - the peace never does unfortunately." She glanced over at him, meeting his eyes with her vivid blue ones.

"There is no emotion .... There is Peace

There is no ignorance .... There is knowledge

There is no passion .... There is serenity

There is no chaos ...There is harmony

There is no death .... There is the Force."

She recited the Jedi Code. "This code is what we use as a guide. There are other versions which I want you to seek out when we get to the Jedi Temple. When we land, we shall begin with the physical training. Firstly though, do you have any questions for me?"

Deciding to bring the bike with him ”“ it could prove to be of use to him in the future -, Jhoren followed Kirana to the bunkroom that was going to be his. He removed his backpack from his shoulders and set it onto the small bed, then followed her into the cockpit. He sat down on the co-pilot's chair, listening to her speak about the wars he would partake in during his time as a Jedi. He was finally able to understand why his grandfather was against sending him away to become one. Having already learned much about the Jedi and what they did, he realized that while he would have a power that so many others yearned to have, a great responsibility came with it. He would be a guardian of peace; of the galaxy. Listening to her recite the Jedi Code filled him with an unexpected sense of calmness. The way she spoke it, she could have put an infant to sleep with her soft, gentle voice.

He was ecstatic to hear that his training would begin as soon as they reached the Jedi Temple, though he still couldn't help but feel nervous at the same time. He knew that he wouldn't have anything to worry about while training with Kirana, but she had said that he would eventually partake in wars. While the idea excited him somewhat, he still couldn't shake the feeling of dread that came along with it. He had never killed anybody before ”“ except for a couple of Kath Hounds -, so the idea of killing another person or sentient being in general was an inexplicable thought. He knew that he would eventually be forced to end the life of another being, though, so he figured that would have to get used to that idea.

Kirana laughed as he asked his question. "Of course you can. The sonic shower is down the corridor and if you look in the storage cabinet in your room you'll find a set of padawan robes. If you need anything, just ask Deet," she indicated to her droid.

As he was getting changed, Kira looked out over the terrain, watching the grassy plains zip by below them. Occasionally she would see packs of Kath Hounds roaming around though mostly the fields were empty. She was happy to see that the entrance to a particular cave was still clear as they overflew it. That was one thing she had wished to check on, though she would decide later if she would have him go there, or take him to Ilum. It would be a while before he would be ready for that aspect of training, though she was always thinking ahead.

The Jedi Temple came into sight, the Jedi Master bringing the Lost Soul in to land within it's confines. Kira smiled as she took note of another ship landed there, having guessed already that Malin was in this location. She reached out to him through the Force, letting him know she'd arrived at this location, the feeling of an embrace left with him also.

Quickly she ran through her post flight checks, organising for the ship to be restocked and refueled. Rising from her chair, she spoke briefly with Deet, who would look after the ship in her absence, and headed to her own room to freshen up. It didn't take her long to shower and change, tying her silver hair back into a bun. Instead of black, this time she was in her customary deep midnight blue tunic with silver trim on her matching robes. Her boots were midnight blue also with silver laced through the cuffs. Her sabers were back in place though she left the blasters in the locker.

She left her room, heading into the living area of her ship, deciding she'd make them something to eat before they begun his training. In the galley she cooked up a meal of bantha steaks and vegetables, always having a stock of decent foods. Kira preferred the fresh to the packaged stuff they labeled food. The smell of the steaks cooking wafted through the ship, that in itself a call for Jhoren to join her.

Wandering through the ship to his bunkroom, Jhoren spotted the cabinet that Kirana was referring to. He walked over to it and opened it up, spotting a set of brown Jedi robes nestled within it. He quickly changed out of the clothes that he was currently wearing, and put the robes on over his undergarments. They fit him well, which surprised him. He was expecting them to be too long, or too short. Instead, they fit him like somebody had tailored them for him. Not to mention that they were comfortable, as well.

Smelling the food that Kirana was preparing for them, Jhoren smiled. The last time he had a nice meal was before his grandfather had fallen ill. He had used to make them all sorts of meals for the two of them, and his cooking was spectacular. Now, the smell that stood out to him was the Bantha Steak.

He made his way out of his dormitory, now able to smell the vegetables that Kirana was cooking, as well. He walked into the living area, seeing her busy with preparing their meals. He went over to her, wondering if there was anything that he could do to help her.

”œCan I help you with anything, Kirana?”

Looking up from what she was doing, Kira nodded, "The utensils are in that draw there, " She pointed to the appropriate place, "You can set the table. Dinner won't be long."

She turned her steak then looked back up at him, "How do you prefer your steak? Rare, Medium or well done?" As he told her which, she prepared it that way.

When they were cooked, she served up and brought the plates around to the table. She also gathered up a pair of glasses, pouring some juice into each though leaving the bottle on the table in case either wanted more. Taking her seat she began her meal, glancing over at her new Padawan.

"The Force is an energy field that emanates from all living things. I mentioned that you will eventually end up in battle. There is a quote from Mace Windu that sums this up. 'Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. We fight for justice because justice is the fundamental bedrock of civilization: an unjust civilization is built upon sand. It does not long survive a storm.' He was a wise Jedi Master."

She took another bite of the steak, chewing it carefully then swallowing it, then took a bite of her vegies.

Kira smiled at him as he got stuck into his meal. She took another mouthful, savoring the taste as she continued with her own meal. Looking up as he asked his question, Kira swallowed the mouthful she had just taken before answering,

"There are three aspects you will learn. Control is internal. It is a Jedi's ability to recognize the Force in him or herself and to use it to their benefit. Sense is where a Jedi recognizes the force in the universe outside of his or herself. Alter is the third. It involves a student's ability to modify the Force and redistribute its energies."

She took a sip of her juice and then continued,

"With Control you will learn such things as Breath Control, Force Concealment, Force Speed, basic Force Healing and how to go into a Hibernation trance. Other aspects can be learnt at a later time.

Sense is where you can learn how to Force listen, use Telepathy, Force Meld, and Force Sense. Again, there are other aspects of Sense that can be learnt. Some Jedi have Force Visions and are able to Comprehend the Speech of other species, this also comes under Sense.

Alter is where you will learn how to Force Jump, Force Pull, Force Push, Force Throw, Telekinesis, Levitation, Mind Tricks, just to name a few."

Kira took another mouthful, letting Jhoren process the information she had just given.

"Stretch out your senses, feel everything around you, how it feels through the Force, then describe it to me. Project your thoughts towards me"

Jhoren gripped the glass of juice with both hands as he listened to Kirana speak. What she was saying certainly was interesting. He never thought of the Force being broken down into three ”˜sections' like that before. He definitely had a lot to learn, having never even been told that he was Force-Sensitive before. The more he thought about it, the less he could blame his grandfather for never having told him that. The man didn't want him to lead the life that he had led, nor did he want him to experience the things that he had experienced, either.

"Stretch out your senses, feel everything around you, how it feels through the Force, then describe it to me. Project your thoughts towards me."

Hearing Kirana's voice in his mind was enough to startle him to make him drop his fork. Her voice had entered his head in such a pristine way, that it frightened him to hear it that way. With her in the middle of her meal, he hadn't expected to hear much of anything other than the noise of their silverware clinking against their plates, and his own chewing of the Bantha steak and vegetables. He looked up from his plate at Kirana, his face full of confusion and wonder.

The image was very hazy but would clear in time and practice, "Keep practicing visualizing and you will improve in time. Not bad for a first attempt."

Kira grinned across at him then, placing her fork down, slipped her hand into her pocket, drawing out a credit chip. She turned her hand over so that it sat in her palm and then levitated it across to hover in front of Jhoren. "This will be a task for you to practice as well. Once we finish here," She pointed to their plates, "we will head into the temple to a training room where I will teach you to levitate, force push, pull and how to speed your movements. I'd like you to focus on the credit chip, reach out to it with your mind, concentrate on lifting it. You will need to clear your mind of all distractions. When you are calm you will be able to focus clearer on the task."

She had nearly finished her meal, taking the last mouthful once she finished speaking to her padawan.

Taking every word that Kirana said for granted, Jhoren did as he was told. He watched the chip as it floated towards him, then plucked it out of mid air. He opened his hand, then looked down at it. It was small; surely, he would be able to at least move it a little bit, if not actually lift it like Kirana said. It was quiet in this part of her ship. He was sure that he wouldn't have any trouble focusing on the object, so he pushed all of his other thoughts out of his mind, and hung his head again. He found it hard to refrain from thinking about anything else, though. Everything was happening so fast”¦ how could he not think about anything?

He concentrated on the chip. Its shape, size, and possible mass. It was square, small, and probably weighed no more than a couple of grams. Keeping his eyes glued to the floor, he concentrated even more on the chip, wondering if what he was doing was working. He didn't dare look up, afraid that if something was happening, that it didn't stop as soon as he looked at it.

Unbeknownst to him, nothing was happening. Still, he asked Kirana,

Kira smiled kindly as she shook her head, "Not yet. It might help to look at the credit chip instead of the floor. You need to focus on it." She put gentle emphasis on looking at the chip. "Finish your meal and we'll get started."

The silver haired Jedi drained her glass of juice and stood up, taking her plate and glass back to the sink to wash and dry them up. She placed them away and turned back towards Jhoren, her vivid blue eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Once you've finished your meal and cleaned up I want you to find me. I'm going to go to a room in the temple. You've felt my mind, my Force presence," with those words she brushed his mind again with her own, "so you know how I feel through the Force. I want you to come and find me using the Force - no asking anyone if they saw which way I've gone. Picture me within your mind and concentrate."

Kira winked at him as she walked out of the living area and out of the ship heading to one of the training rooms. Once she got there she sat down in the middle of the floor, facing the door, going into a light meditative trance to follow his progress.

Mace followed this man to the 'temple', as he called it. It wasn't much more of a walk to get there, but once inside Mace was engorged by his surroundings. His eyes filled with wonder. These surroundings did not pale in comparison to anything he had before. In fact, they greatly surpassed anything he had a memory of. He was too enamored with the epic scale of this place to be able to retain any immediate questions. He looked around at the people wondering the halls, at a woman sitting on the floor, meditating. This was going to be his new life.

And that wasn't so bad.

Jhoren waited a couple of minutes after Kirana got off of the ship, long enough to take care of his own dishes and clear his place. After he was done, he wiped the backs of his hands off on his robe, and also made his way off of the ship, and glanced up at the Jedi Temple. The large, stone structure, he heard, had been attacked several times, though for the most part, it was considered by many Jedi to be a safe-haven. He knew that despite its external appearance, it was a massive place. He had never been inside of it before, and was exhilarated to be entering it for the first time now.

The front door slid open for him, permitting him entrance into the main hallway. There were large, long windows on either side of him, allowing him to look out at the courtyard, which he was now approaching. He passed several other men and women, all of whom were wearing the unmistakable attire of a Jedi. He both received and returned several greetings from those who he walked by, and was even greeted by a protocal droid.

”œHello, and welcome to the Jedi Order. I assume that you have never been here before, young...”

John watched his young pupil look around. The Jedi wondered what it must feel like at his age to waltz into these places and feel that energy for the first time. It must be wonderous, magnificent and miraculous. For John this experience was so different. His life had taken such a darkness, that his only salvation was the Jedi Order. Thinking on this he turned to Mace, still walking, but toward the hangar bay.

"Your first Lesson as a new Jedi Mace, is one of principle. You must know that no one is destined to do evil. As a Jedi we are meant to keep peace in the galaxy and be a symbol of incorruptible good. This is who we are, and as such we must do what we can to save others from their own darkness.

"There are some like the Jedi in the galaxy, but you can feel they are not. That energy you felt, what we in the galaxy call The Force, can be used in many ways. The Jedi use it for protection, for themselves or others, or to help other people out. It is a friend and a powerful ally to us. If you concentrate and listen to the Force, many things will be told to you, not just through your ears, but images in your mind as well. The future, the past all these things are possible with the Force as an ally.

"Some people however, who have our gift, use the Force as a tool, a weapon to be forged to cause personal gain. These persons are known as Sith. Yet you must know that no matter how cruel the user of this, what we call Dark Side, of the Force is. They are not beyond redemption. With shame I admit I myself was once a cruel murdering bastard like them. I thought at the time my lineage was a great reason to have war and destroy others. I made a mistake and many people died and suffered for it.

"But look at me now, my soul has been cleansed and I have been forgiven by the Jedi Order. The old teachings of Master Yoda's 'Once you star down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny' can now be shown as nothing but fluff. The Dark Side can be overcome by the Light. Remember this Mace."

They arrived in the Hangar and a small shuttle was refueled and ready to go. Hartel went to a console and typed in some codes for authorization to use the vehicle and such. A ramp came down and Hartel looked into the ship.

"We are going to meet up with my fiance on a Jedi facility far more advanced than this temple. If you thought this was magnificent, wait until you see the Helix."

Hartel walked on board the ship and began to start it up hoping Mace was coming along. He started the ship up and was ready to leave the planet.

((Post one more time here Mace and then I will post instructions in my next post here on where we are going to next.))

Kira followed his progress through the Force, feeling him approach, his curiosity regarding the temple and bewilderment when he found her. Her head rose up, her hood slipping back so it rested upon her shoulders, a smile gracing her features. "Well done. You have just taken your first step into using the Force."

She rose to her feet in a graceful movement. "As you found me, you can also find objects." Stepping over to the side Kira got one of the bamboo poles. She brought it back to the center of the room and placed it on the floor. Moving back to the side of the room Kira instructed Jhoren, demonstrating what she wanted him to do as she spoke. "Force Push is when you gather the Force within yourself and push something away from you. I want you to concentrate on the bamboo pole and push it, like this." The pole rolled away from them to the other side of the room. Using the Force she brought it back to the center again. "Force pull is the opposite. You concentrate on bringing something to you. Firstly we will concentrate on Force push and when you can do that we will move onto force pull." She indicated for him to have a go at force pushing the pole away.

Mace followed the man onto the ship. His story about redemption was stirring. The Force, as he called it, made it so that the story was particularly touching to him, but again, he didn't know why. The way he spoke of this Force, and the way he spoke to him, Mace had a sense that he was very special. Special even for someone who could be a Jedi. He watched Hartel as he toyed with the numerous buttons and switches of his ship.

Deciding to try what Kirana asked of him, Jhoren walked over to her, so he was standing by her side. He turned around to face the pole, and aimed his open, outstretched hand towards it. He was sure that he wouldn't be able to push it with the Force this early in his training, but wanted to try it, nonetheless. He did as he was told, and concentrated on the object as much as he could, keeping his hand steady, afraid that if he moved it even a little bit, it wouldn't work, no matter how hard he tried.

To his amazement, the pole seemed to rock back and forth very slowly. His eyes widened in surprise. He glanced over at Kirana, but as soon as he did, the pole's movements stopped, and it remained still once again. He looked at it again, his hand still facing it. His eyes narrowed, and now, he concentrated on it harder than he had before, and watched as it started to rock back and forth again, but that was all it did. He was unable to push it like Kirana had, let alone pull it.

What was he doing wrong?

He frowned, but turned to Kirana, hoping that she would be able to help him. Was he concentrating too hard on the pole? Was that why it was only moving back and forth, and not in one direction? He waited patiently to hear what she had to say. He couldn't help but feel proud of himself. Even if he hadn't used the Force to push the pole, he had still used it!

::OOC: Sorry Robbie. Work got to me in RL. New job and everything. I should be freed up now.::

I listened to his words, remembering back to the moments i had saw when i gained momentary access to his memories as i memorized them to heart. I held a particular skill, an extreme version of the photographic memory, able to feel or see something and remember it forever. Down to ever detail. But with his, it was more so, even able to remember the feelings he felt in every moment. Even though i could feel the love he held for this woman, and even the pain of knowing she could never touch him, i could never understand it. At Least not until i experienced it for myself. Simply nodding, i made motion that i knew of Vader's tale. But my mind was elsewhere.

"I feel what he means, but how can i understand it?" I questioned myself with despair as i listened to him speak of love and dedication, my feelings and thoughts unintentionally reaching out and connecting with his mind. "But i've never felt it before, my life spent alone first with political parents and then with the Empire. All i have ever known is my lust for revenge."

I stood just as he did, true questions finally erupting from my mouth, as i grew ready to continue with my training. Whatever the lesson, i felt the need to learn. Almost bounded by an urge for knowledge.

"So theoretically, the more stubborn one is, the stronger the will power he will be granted over his mind." I questioned, my mind processing the data of the lesson almost like a computer, my mind acting like a hard drive as it's memories were etched into it's mind frame. "But it is not without balance, causing the ones who cannot control it over the edge and allowing them to fall to the darkside."

Clearing my mind as Master Kyrell's thoughts flowed into my mind, including the doubts i had perceived earlier on whether or not i could find such dedication, i allowed a side of me previously unknown to be revealed. Most would expect a man of my size to be strong and solid, a duracrete wall of power and strength. But no. My form was agile and loose, nearly mimicking a much smaller fighter. Even my hands shown that my blade would typically hang loosely in my hands until just before contact. And my weakness in the beginning stages just confirmed what most would think. My biggest strength would be the Force.

Releasing myself, i felt the Force grow and develop, it's formless extension escaping my my mind, fingers, and body. But it grew even more, extending as it surrounded me in a brilliant flame like encasing enveloping my form thickly. My sight quickly zoomed across the sierra, my smell gasping the tasteful aroma of a fresh berry cobbler freshly baked within a community not far. Even my hearing sounded of the grass crunching beneath Master Kyrell's feet as he moved about. But as my mind and thoughts focused even more, it all snapped back in one fluid motion, it's full attention falling solely upon my Master.

And in one quick second, my mind barricaded it's self into a lock-down that very closely mimicked a Super-max Prison. Reaching out into the Force, only one thought jokingly erupted into the air and found it's destination upon his mind.

"See if you can tell me, Master."

Kira observed Jhoren both visually and through the Force. He did well for his first attempt to rock the pole back and forth. Some didn't manage that. "Your frustrations cloud your mind. Clear your mind. The harder you attempt it the harder it will be. When you are calm you will acess the Force easier. 'Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try', as a famous Jedi of old used to say."

Making a quick decision Kira motioned for him to sit on the mat in front of her as she sank down to a cross-legged position facing him. Once he was seated in the same way she indicated for him to rest his wrists on his knees, palms up as she was doing. She was going to suggest something she rarely did with a new padawan.

"My expertise is with the Mind. What I'm going to do is show you, if you agree, how to use the Force in the various ways. I could let you work it out yourself if you wish, but if you want me to show you, let me know." She met his eyes then added, "Otherwise I'll show you a meditation technique to help you calm yourself."

Jhoren sat down in front of Kirana, copying her current position. He sat down directly in front of her, also resting his wrists on his knees, relaxing his hands, as well. He listened to her offer of having him work out his current situation with himself - without her help -, or showing him how to use the Force, in what she said, ”˜various ways'.

When Jhoren sat in front of her as she directed, Kira smiled at him, giving a wink in his direction. "This won't hurt." Sending a tendril of the Force towards him she entered his mind, letting him see the images of what she wanted him to see and to feel it's use, showing him the images of her using the Force to demonstrate. She started off with how it felt to move the pole with the Force, litterally showing him how to push it, then how to pull it towards her. She then proceeded to show him how to lift it with levitation. She took him through the mechanics of how to speed movements, to speak telepathically, to jump with the Force. All this information he would have to process and learn to use himself, but he would now know how to do it. His skills would improve with practice.

Withdrawing from his mind she met his eyes, "It will take practice, but how you know how it works. I'll let you practice." Kira stood up and moved back to the wall, allowing him the space to practice the skills she had just shown him.

The images that Kirana sent to him flashed before his eyes, long enough for him to see what she wanted to show him, but changed to a different image almost as soon as it had appeared. He closed his eyes, taking everything that she was sending him in to account. He couldn't really explain what he saw. There were images of varying Force powers in use, though he couldn't tell if there was somebody there carrying them out. It was almost as if he was dreaming. Each image that Kirana sent him seemed to almost imbed themselves into the back of his mind, so he wouldn't forget what he saw.

He finally opened his eyes after Kirana stood up. He got to his feet as well, and turned around to face the pole, which was still resting on the floor in the middle of the training room. He shot a glance at Kirana, who had moved against the wall, probably to give him more space to practice. He evoked the images that she had shown him while they were meditating, and attempted to mimic what he had seen. Even though he wasn't sure if he saw an actual person in the images, he had an idea of how he should carry out what Kirana wanted him to do. He was to use the Force to first move the bamboo pole, and then pull it towards him. He wasn't sure if she wanted him to do the other things she had shown him, but chances were that she was going to help him master using Force Push and Pull first, before moving on to anything else.

He remembered what she had said about trying not to concentrate too much on the pole, for that would thwart any attempts at moving the weapon at all. He raised his outstretched hand again, but didn't stiffen his arm. He closed his eyes, and started to calm his breathing. He slowly opened his eyes again as soon as his breathing came down to a slow, steady pace, and slowly built his concentration up, focusing on the pole.

To his dismay, the weapon started to rock back and forth again. However, right when he was about to look back over at Kirana, to his astonishment, it started to roll across the floor, towards the wall opposite him. He increased his level of concentration on it, and watched as it started to travel even faster, until it finally hit the wall and came to a halt. He dropped his hand back down to his side, his eyes wide and unbelieving. He glanced back at his Master, then back at the pole. He held his hand out to it again, his palm open and his hand relaxed. Unbeknownst to him, he used the Force ”“ again ”“ to pull the pole towards him. As before, it slowly rolled away from the wall and towards him; however, as his focus on it increased, it started to almost skip across the floor, until suddenly, it left the ground and ended up in his hand. Caught off guard by this, he nearly stumbled backwards. He managed to hold a firm grip on the pole though, and turned back around to face Kirana, beaming.

((No worries. Been busy myself, so I understand))

Malin keeps following through the motions, responding to Kenshi's reply.

"Do not despair of understanding that feeling. Things will happen in their appointed time and place. It is natural and will happen on its own. Love is not forced or taken." He tenses a moment, a sensation almost like a hug washing across him. He smiles. "Love is complex, but happens with simple spontaneity. In encompasses the heart, then the mind, and finally bonds at the soul. Do not worry or fret over it. As for revenge," he adds, a hint of steel once more in his soft voice, "there is no revenge. Only justice. Revenge is a hollow, hollow thing. At the core of one's being, it turns into a void, threatening to consume a person, and darken the soul. There are higher principles, higher callings, and from there justice can be achieved. It is serving that higher calling which defines a Jedi Knight."

Malin continues on with the forms, encouraging Kenshi to follow before responding to the next question.

"Stubborness is... an apt way of putting it. Strength of mental fortitude is a hard measure to grasp. And as in all things, there is balance, virtue, and in excess, vice. Being unable to walk that line is a surefire path to the Darkside... a system crash of one's morality programming, in part caused by an overclocked processor..." he adds, intuitively grasping the analogy Kenshi used to sort matters out.

The motions forms continue, and Malin watches as Kenshi slides into it. Limber and willowy himself, Kyrell realized he could probably teach Kenshi well the art of using a lightsaber in a style that mimicked his own.

There is a sudden flash of sensations Malin is able to pick up, covering a wide range of experiences, sounds, and smells. Then suddenly, it vanishes, Kenshi's mind turning opaque. There was whimsy there in his mental request, but also a tight sense of will and determination behind it. Malin, a gifted duelist, more Blademaster than Jedi Master and versed in the physical aspects of the Force, knew the basics for a Jedi mindtrick and could defend himself well against illusion and other tricks. Cracking a mind though, was far from his forte. He skims over the mental fortress, looking for holes in the wall. He finds a few soft spots, but nothing he can used to breach it and read what is inside.

Shaking his head, Malin draws out of his forms and applauds. "Well done, Padawan. I cannot enter your mind. You are at peace and collected. You are at one with yourself and the Force."

He sits down, giving a mental tap on the shoulder indicating that Kenshi should follow suit.

"There is something I would like you to reflect on, leading back to what I said earlier. it is the Jedi code. It is at the root of their philosophy and should help you find peace with your powers and yourself:

There is no emotion, there is peace.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

There is no passion, there is serenity.

There is no death, there is the Force.

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.

Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.

Jedi respect all life, in any form.

Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.

Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training."

Malin finishes the chant, then continues. "I realize you seek knowledge. Knowledge is a torch against ignorance and hatred, but respect for life, a desire peace, and serenity inside must go hand in hand. Consider that." He waits a breath, then continues. "Is there any form of knowledge that you wish to learn further? We have touched on the basics: Force senses, mastering the body, the mind, telekenesis, and even basic forms for fighting with the Force. The Galaxy is an open book, which page do you wish to turn to?"

Sitting down, i idly listened to Master Kyrell's words. Though at the time, they have been more so riddles to me, i could relate to. Since my training had began, i felt more at peace than emotional. I craved for more knowledge, rather than ignore it. I even found myself more serene, my thirst for revenge silently slipping away with the wind. But Desolation Alley was a hard place to forget, especially for a child who was dumped there, accused of treason and imprisoned by his own father because he chose a different cause. But there was a different reason, a different look within my soul as i removed the sash that covered my white blinded eyes.

I reached into my pocket, pulling out a small container from within my pocket and proceeded to clean my blinded eyes. Scars littered my face around my eyes, revealing the pain i had endured as they playfully burnt out my sight . Looking into them could give even the most sadistic men a slight tingle of coldness down their spines. After a good rinsing, i wiped them with a small bandage like cloth, removing the access pus and drainage. Even though it many years since that fateful day, they still grew infected every now and then.

"You'll have to excuse the eyes." I spoke jokingly, my blinded gaze shifting over to him and catching his own gaze. "After all these years, they still like to be bothersome at times."

Replacing the sash and giving the knot a quick tug, i answered his question.

"Anything i wish to learn?" I questioned in return, my mind drifting silently to another time and another place. There was one thing i wished to learn above all else. And as i thought back to Desolation Alley, i wondered on something else. My gaze shot toward Master Kyrell's form, the force extending like an explosion of galactic proportion from within the tiniest of duratin cans. It was an unexpected intrusion to say the least, but not one Kyrell would have necessarily fought off. It was a memory of my past, the key to everything. This would lead to my defining moment.

There... there was a man, Imperial dressed, a patch over the left eye and above a sadistically smile. And so was i, a mere boy of sixteen gazing in a small cracking of a durasteel hatch at a girl. The girl, my age, was a dear friend, and my emotions showed it. Love could be what i held for her was called, but youthful emotions were never known truthfully. I watched silently many times as she was brutally molested, tortured, and beaten. I was afraid, scared that death awaited me if i intervened, scared that both of us would die.

But then came the day, the day i could no longer sit by and allow it to happen anymore. Busting in on the sadistic Colonel, i attacked. In a fit of rage, i managed to take down one of attending Sergeants, and incapacitate the other with a sharp blow to the back of the head. But i was... i was too late. Jewel.. Jewel was dead. I took my eyes off the Colonel and scooped her limp body into my arms, tears swelling up within. And then came nothing. The Colonel had cowardly pistol whipped me and knocked me unconscious.

The last scenes Kenshi revealed, spoke of the moment they burnt out his eyes, and the reason behind it. For the price of interrupting the sadistic Colonel, and for attacking an Imperial Officer, my sight was to be taken from me. But mainly, i knew the Colonel wanted me to suffer. He wanted to leave his mark upon me. And so he had.

Letting go, i slumped back, the energy required for what i had just accomplished draining me rather well. I was weak, and growing rather tired. My training had been going exceptionally well, but it still had been awhile since the last time i had slept. But there was a reason i showed Master Kyrell what i did. He needed to see what i once had. And even though i didn't know it then, this would be what led me to the day i graduated. This path would lead me to walk the path of a Jedi Knight. Colonel Price would one day be forgiven. Jewel would one day be forgiven. It would be something i never expected.

"Oovo IV" I said as i reached over into my own satchel, pulling out a rather delicious looking sandwich and offering half of it to Master Kyrell. There was no better energy than real food. " Desolation Alley. I must return to where it all began if i am to ever learn to.... move on. Grant me the knowledge to achieve this goal."

Kira watched as Jhoren pushed the pole away from him. With him calling the pole to him and having it fly up from the ground straight to his hand, Kira let a wide smile cross her features at the look on his beaming face. "Feels good doesn't it".

Kira lifted her own hand, another bamboo pole floating over to her from the wall. She let it sink to the mat. "The more you practice the more it will become second nature. Take all the time you need and let me know when you want to move onto the next step." She pushed her own bamboo pole across the floor, letting it roll to the wall then pulled it back along the floor.

Since everything that she was teaching him was certainly new to him, Jhoren nodded. He knew that he would need to practice using the Force even more now than before, since he had a much better idea of how to use it and control it. He was, without a doubt, still trying to get used to the entire idea of actually being a Force-Sensitive, but was sure that the more he practiced using it, the better he would be able to control it.

After she had moved her own pole to the wall and back, he raised his hand in front of him once more and, once again, began to concentrate on his own bamboo pole. He watched in delight as it rolled along the floor towards the wall, and mimicking her, he used the Force to bring it back to him, keeping his palm level with it the entire time. Instead of attempting to bring it back into his hand, he dropped his hand back down to his side, which brought the pole to a halt. He looked from it and at Kirana, and nodded, content with this part of the training exercise.

”œCan we move on to something else now?”

Malin watches Kenshi clean behind his sash, his face expressionless, though compassion radiates in a soft measure from his person. As his padawan tells his tell, Kyrell "listens" patiently, his jaw squaring. His eyes harden softly, a cold determination settling in. While he was a Jedi Master, that wasn't his only duty to the Force. As a Ral'tath Blademaster, he had other obligations. Oovo IV would be his next destination. He could feel it.

Wordlessly, he walks over to Kenshi, removing the gloves from his hands. He wasn't too great a healer, but he could do a few things for his padawan.

"Hold still," he orders softly. "And don't be afraid." He took a deep breath, trying to concentrate. He would need it to control his power, his curse. He lays two fingers on each side of Kenshi's head, just alongside his eyes.

"I suppose it's also time I mentioned something of my past. I have a unique Force inclination. My power, my curse, is death."

Already, he feels his necrotic powers working in. With the skill and willpower of a master Force user, he directs it where he wants.

"My family, if you can call it that, were Sith cultists, an off shoot from centuries past. They were dedicated to the eradication of all light, all life, shunned even by the true Sith and other Dark siders. My father was a Sith. My mother was a Jedi they captured and experimented on, over a year dead when I was born. There was a schism and they were wiped out from infighting." His voice is flat and without emotion, though he is still focusing hard on directing his powers. "I'm halfway between two worlds, almost like a wound in the gap between life and death, and as a result, my touch causes death and decay on contact, unless I take a strong, concentrated effort to control it as I am doing now. I can hear spirits, see the decay that time's passing causes, and smell the guilty stench of blood on a murder's hands."

He takes his hands off a second later, mentally scanning. Yes, the infection was gone now, all but eradicated. He also deadened some of the nerves that would cause pain in the area. His touch did its work and without damaging his padawan.

"In that sense, I'm tainted by the Dark side. The energy of the Force is one of the only things holding my body together when I should not exist at all. Ysalmari can push back ithe effects of the Force and mitigate most of my powers, but my death touch... my life force... endure... That," he adds, redoning his gloves, "is why I avoid all human contact. I've killed people that way before. It's not pleasant."

He takes a deep breath, careful to relate his story, but without sending conflicting messages to his padawan.

"Training as a Jedi, and learning their ways helped me come to terms with who I am, what I was, and what I could do to atone for mistakes I made in the past using my abilities." He left out his former life as a bounty hunter, smelling out his target's preordained fate with his senses. He left out his calling as a Ral'tath as well, and the duties and burdens that imposed as well.

"One thing I learned, is that there is a difference between justice and vengence. It is one thing to do murder. It is another to stop someone before they harm others. It is one thing to lash out in hatred at one who wronged you. It is another to have them face their crimes, and the consequences that resulted from it. Atonement and penance can be harsh, but one must always be just and listen to the will of the Force."

"This colonel who did this to you will have justice brought to him. I will do my best to aid you and reconcile this. Cleansing is important." Malin's eyes closed in thought. "Oovo IV is not lightly attacked," he concludes. "And you'll need some training on how to defend yourself first, which involves the art of using a lightsaber." Malin quietly redons his mask. "There's a Jedi Temple near here. We'll head there to gather some intel and supplies, and train a bit. Then," he adds softly, "we'll knock on the doors of Oovo IV and see what we shall see."

*****

Malin fires up his ship, giving instructions for Kenshi to do the same, then takes off, letting his feelings guide him close to a familiar and welcome presense, presumably at the Jedi's temple. Along the way, he has more rations, which met his needs. He lands near the temple proper. He passes a female guarding the gates and introduces himself. He senses a few presenses besides Kirana's. He felt another young Force user, probably Kirana's padawan from what he sensed earlier, and two Gamorreans who were locked up elsewhere it seemed based on what Ariel, the guardian at the gate, told him, for having attempted to attack the Temple a while ago.

Moving on, he enters a hallway right outside a training room, motioning for Kenshi to wait a second. He walks in finding Kirana and her newest padawan; quietly observing the training in progress, not wanting to interrupt.
