Having set up his workshop, and constructed his base set of tools, jarnok now needed someone to build a suit for... Moving over to a terminal, he sent a comm to Renn, asking him to come to the workshop and to bring all of his current weaponary and armour.

As he had feared, there was little Tycho could do until Forn returned. Although he was constantly telling himself and her that she was not the head of the organization but a second-in-command, he found that he couldn't do anything without her.

He was still planning on waiting for her, though the Senate meeting may take quite some time longer than she had expected. Tycho had always disliked Senates, committees, and other governmental meetings that took days and days to come to a decision.

Although dictators and other monarchs often were corrupted by having a lot of power, they were often the most effective means of keeping a government in place and running things smoothly. Most of the governments and organizations currently in place followed that, but this new galaxy-wide one would take what in his perspective was a turn for the worse.

But there was little he could do about it and, from his seat at the top of Open Sky, he wouldn't have to worry about it all that much. Tycho would go about waging his own little wars and keeping up his alliances (which were not yet officially in place) while making enemies.

After Forn came back, he would launch Open Sky's opening strike, one which would declare that, regardless of the new government, the Open Sky would always side against SEED, the Empire, the Sith, and the Black Sun.

  • 3 weeks later...

((Considering that nothing's happening... see ya'll later. I've got RPing to do.))

Renn's last shot at the targeting range resulted in a sharp, metallic click; he had run out of ammunition. Judging from the movement of Bakura's sun, an indeterminant number of hours had passed. His target lay practically in ruins, scarred with blaster scoring and blasted nearly to pieces by sniper rounds.

And still, absolutely nothing was happening. This could mean only one thing: a breakdown in the chain of command.

A metal tentacle tapped Renn on his shoulder; Puffi Maa had come to join him.

"If you're in a mood for another marksmanship contest, I'm fresh out of ammo." He half-turned, disengaging his empty magazine from his sniper rifle.

The droid shifted his weight slightly. "So I see. But... alas, we have no time for a contest at this time."

That got the former Rebel's attention. "No time? You mean orders have finally come down from the brass?" Even as he spoke the words, he knew that they were not to be affirmed.

"No." The droid paused and looked Renn in the eye. "This is not working. This... organization, rank-and-file troop action, this..." Puffs struggled to find words--a sure sign that something was wrong. "This kriffing soldiering!

"Renn, we're mercenaries. Nothing can change that. I'm sure that you've felt some longing for your old life?"

Renn nodded, and lead the way back to his ship. On the way, he stopped by an armory and restocked on his depleted ammunition stores. "I know what you mean. I was ready to give up my independence and become a team player, to fight for a cause that wasn't my own."

"You have been acting very illogically since we left Tatooine."

"I can imagine." Renn sighed as he lead the way up the Warwitch's boarding ramp. "I still don't know why I did it. Joining the Rebellion and all."

"I think we both know the answer to that question." The 5-tentacled droid muttered casually, his tone completely casual and unaccusing.

Forn... the droid was talking about Forn Dodonna. Renn wondered where she had gone.

"Listen, you rusted pile of bolts. That is completely--"

"--My construction is far more advanced than mere sheet metal and bolts and rivets. That aside..."

Renn started up again, annoyed at his partner's interruption. "That is completely..." The soon-to-be former vigilante thought for a second. "True."

Puffi Maa took up his position in the Warwitch's cockpit. "Forn was very important to you."

Renn looked down, both to concentrate on bring his ship out of orbit and to hide his embarrassment. "She was. With my record... anyone would be insane to trust a person like me. Yet she had so much faith in me. Forn gave me the chance that no sane sentient would to turn my life around, and be an honorable man." His mind flashed back on the Hero's Cross she had awarded him, which was tucked away in his quarters. "I... I think that for a while, I think I loved her."

Bakura quickly became an insignificant speck behind the Corellian's freighter. Puffi Maa wisely chose to be silent, and let his partner dwell on his own thoughts.

"Goodbye, rebellion. Goodbye, Forn. Once again, I'm blazing my own trail... but this time, I'm going to do it right." He glanced at Puffs, and extend a hand across the control boards. "Here's to independence, Puffs."

The hand came down on the hyperdrive lever. In nanoseconds, the Warwitch leapt into hyperspace, and disappeared into the void.

"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"

OOC: Sorry you had to leave. I'm glad you posted, though. I'm going to get this thing on the road.

IC: Tycho got sick of waiting. He didn't blame Renn for suddenly getting up and leaving, but he did hope that the smuggler would return before too long. Regardless, he was going to put this mission on the road. With or without Forn Dodanna.

The Corellian vigilante stood up. "Alright, we're going to get moving. Personally, I'm not going to sit here and wait for Forn any longer. Vash--you need to work on your disguise. The rest of us need to get to the frigate and get in costume," he ordered.

Without another word, Tycho walked out of the conference room and headed for the hangar to catch a shuttle for the frigate. He wasn't yet entirely sure how to locate a suitable convoy, but he was confident that in the next few hours before the mission began he would come up with something.

Boarding a shuttle, he ordered it to take him to the SEED frigate. It lifted off and the Corellian watched out through the viewport as the shuttle blazed through the atmosphere and towards the Nebulon-B Frigate above the planet.

Nebulon-Bs were medium sized Frigates, armed with twelve laser cannons for combating fighters as well as twelve turbolaser turrets for exchanging blows with larger ships and battlecruisers. It carried two squadrons of twelve fighters each, allowing it to function as a mobile starfighter base as well as launch attacks on convoys similar to what it would be doing on this mission.

The largest advantage here was that when they attacked, SEED would be blamed, even causing war between the Empire and the smaller evil organization.

Tycho ordered that a full battalion of troops be brought up to the frigate. He specified that one squadron of fighters was to be removed from the frigate's hangar and replaced with four boarding craft: they would loot the convoy after disabling its defenses.

The shuttle docked with the frigate and Tycho headed to a ready room, where he donned a SEED uniform and headed to the bridge to begin more tactical preparations.

Vash nodded, and moved off into a private room. He would need to work on the new form for a little while, and shapeshifting could be unsettling to some. The Shi'ido assassin first put on the replica of Geki's outfit that had been given to him. He had committed Geki to his photographic memory, and used this knowledge to analyze the costume. He knew it had to be flawless, and made sure every detail was correct. Once that was completed, the shifter began to transform.

Geki's a humanoid, so there shouldn't be much trouble forming him. The only problem is, this will be viewed over the net mostly. I will not have the crutch of psychic influence. The ruse will be based on appearance alone.

It took Vash a good half hour to get his skin shape to his satisfaction. He hid his normal array of weapons underneath the uniform. Vash had entered the small room, but it was Jidai Geki, governor of SEED, who emerged.

Colonel Wilton, who was left in charge on the planet until Tycho returned from the Frigate, answered Zara's call and gave her permission to land, sending a flight path and coordinates, though he felt that no escort was needed.

Meanwhile, Tycho on the SEED Frigate above the planet found Govenor Geki in the corridor. "You look good, Vash. I can hardly tell you're not Geki himself," he said with a half smile.

It was good to have things on the move, but Jarnok had not reported to the frigate as he had requested. Just to make sure they heard him, he sent a comm down to the planet, "Could I have Jarnok report to the SEED frigate please?"

Now the only barrier in the way was the titanic problem of how to catch an Imperial convoy. Or perhaps the solution was more apparent than he thought. Most convoys went through the Taris region or the Corellian sector. They could simply hide out on a trade route and catch a convoy in transition.

The only problem with that would be that their actions would be open to the public and it was likely that some third party would become involved. Then again, it was all the better if thousands of people witnessed a SEED frigate attacking an Imperial convoy.

That would work.

Tycho headed back to the bridge, motioning for Vash/Geki to follow. As soon as the force was assembled, they could leave. With or without Forn showing up again.

"You do realize that you're insane?"

"It's occurred to me."

Puffi Maa paused for a moment. "That's good to know."

That was the extent of the conversation between Puffi Maa and Renn Hamis as they returned to Bakura. The rest of the trip was decidedly silent. When the Warwitch popped out of hyperspace, Renn immediately cued the comm unit to broadcast to all Open Sky frequencies. Anyone near a comm unit could hear his words.

"Hey, guys, I couldn't let you start the fun without me. Excuse my short absence; I don't know what got into me there." Judging from the preparations, Renn guessed that the personnel that would participate in the raid had already reported to the captured frigate.

Tycho sent a comm back to Renn, "It's good to have you back. Another hand in the upcoming fight is exactly what we'll need. Personally, I think we'll need all the help we can get."

It wasn't that Tycho thought little of the hands he already had. It was simply that Vash would most likely be staying on the ship and it appeared that Jarnok had chosen to stay back this time, or else he was so entrenched in his work that he didn't hear the comms.

Either way, with only Tycho and Renn (and Puffs, of course) on the boarding team with the marines, the Corellian wasn't sure how things would go. As experienced and efficient as marines were, they were strictly military and Tycho was slightly uncomfortable around them, having run from the authorities most of his life.

At any rate, the raid was just about ready. He would wait for Renn to land, explain exactly what they would be doing upon reaching a convoy, then they would be off.

Renn Hamis brought the Warwitch into a smooth landing in one of the Nebulon-B Frigate's hangars. Without spending time on any other pursuits, he simply headed for the bridge.

As soon as Renn entered the bridge, Tycho stood up from the chair he had sat in to wait for a few minutes. "Alright," he said, "with everyone here, let's go to the briefing room. Sergeant, you're with us." He referred to the man that would be leading a small boarding team with Tycho and Renn.

As soon as the fivesome (Puffs and Vash were with them) reached the briefing room, the Corellian vigilante got right down to business. "Here's the plan. We're going to pull out of hyperspace alone along the Corellian trade route. Imperial convoys have to make stops there and it takes them a few minutes to set new jump coordinates.

"That's when we'll strike. First Vash will send a transmission to the head of the convoy, making sure they know that Governor Geki is behind this. He'll simply alert them to prepare to be boarded," Tycho explained. "Because the frigate is not armed with Ion cannons, we'll just knock out the engines of about half the convoy, allowing the rest to escape and tell of what SEED did."

Tycho smiled. "We'll launch two squads of fighters to help neutralize any defenses--there may be another frigate there--and then we'll start the boarding processes. We'll have three boarding craft in the hangar bay and likewise three boarding teams, each of two dozen marines. One will be headed by Renn, one by Sergeant Decker here, and one by myself," he continued. "Our job will be to beat down the defenses aboard the conyoy freighters and loot whatever we feel like looting from the storage holds. With any luck, there'll be more than steel bulkheads and Imperial power converters aboard."

He took a deep breath, as if he had worn out his vocal cords. "Then we'll destroy the freighters and hightail it out of there. Any questions?"

Jarnok had come aboard, and arrived intime to hear tycho's speach, and he had something to add...

"The Imperial convoy will be attempting to jump as soon as possible. Every single ship that has a hyperdrive also has a safety switch, that stops the ship entering hyperspace within a gravitational feild. I have heard of certain devices which create a gravitational feild strong enough to trigger these saftey switches, and I aquired plans to one quite a while back, in my work as a smuggler. At the time i didnt think they would come in useful, but i kept them anyway. If we can spare a day for preperation, im fairly sure i could build one, which would give us far more time, and cut down risks majorly...

The only other problem is, i would need the powersource from a fairly large ship, in order to make one of these things... I could incorperate electromagnets, so it would attach itself to a ship, and keep pumping out a gravitational feild.

Apart from that, is there anything else that would be useful to us?"

Being informed that Tycho was in a meeting, Zara left word that they would be back before too long with the final ship and that they would finalise payments for 'The Link's' service on their return.

The two women made their way back to the Hanger and watched as the ground crew detached the second ship. Reboarding their own craft, the two left again on their way back to Coruscant.

"You're handling things very well Brina. When we get back I'll shout you a meal in the Link's restuarant... hmmm thinking of that, we'll have to come up with a catchy name for it... any ideas?"

Receiving clearance the pair soon blasted off into hyperspace.

Vash had no questions after listening to Tycho's plan. His part was small, but extremely important, he realized. He'd have to be careful to match Geki's attitude, and mannerisms perfectly for the ruse to be successful. But after a couple of hundred years, Vash had full confidence in his abilities.

OOC: I'm now trying to work this thing out OOC with Darth Havoc, so we'll see about this. It shouldn't be a problem. I won't take "no" for an answer.

IC: Tycho listed to Jarnok's question and possible solutions. "We do have an Interdictor cruiser, Jarnok. However, if we show up in a SEED frigate with a non-SEED Interdictor, I'm not sure how our presence will be taken," he explained. "Do you see any way around needing one?"

He had been relying on the frigate to be quick enough with its guns to disable some hyperdrive units before the convoy could jump into hyperspace, and even such a jump would be extremely dangerous without having the time to set proper coordinates.

But if there was an easy way of obtaining the services of an Interdictor without having to bring one along, as Jarnok seemed to be thinking, then he would by all means take it. It would be that much easier.

"Well, i can either construct one from scratch, or i could probably find a way to detach the necessary equipment from the interdictor, and replace it later... either way, i will need a little time.

Also, ive got a prototype of a one man boarding "suit" set up. Basically, its a life support system, which would allow one man per suit to clamp magnetically onto a ship, and cut his own way in, or alternately manouver towards some other entry point. I have the moulds ready, all i would need is a few technitions who can follow plans, and we could have as many as we need very quickly.

Apart from that, i cant think of anything else that could help us."

OOC: We're working something out.

IC: Tycho considered Jarnoks' proposals. "I don't see a need for life-sustaining suits. As long as we can link up to the convoy ships with boarding craft, then we should be fine," he decided. "Besides, if we get on board and find resistance, we'll need to be able to move unrestricted."

He turned the gravity well plan over in his head. "Unfortunately, time is something that I don't want to spend more of at this point," he said. "As much as a gravity well would be useful, I'm afraid that if we show up projecting a gravity well from a ship that's apparently SEED, then a simply chat with the real Governor Geki would disprove that it was him.

"Unless..." Tycho reconsidered. "Well, as far as they know, Vash is the real Governor Geki. What to you think, Vash and Renn? Should we push our luck for a more successful mission, or just go in safe with the risk of not getting as many transports as we would hope?"

Entering the system one last time, the YT-2400 and attached ship enters the atmosphere of Bakura.

"This is Brina Thalin of the Link requesting permission to land with Mr. Kosk's last delivery," Brina commed. "Plese inform Mr. Kosk that there still is the matter of compensation as well."

She waited for the station's reply.

After holding it this long, Vash now had no concern over whether he'd be able to sustain the transformation, or falter in his impersonation of Jidai Geki.

"Alright, Jarnok," Tycho said, convinced. "I suggest you get to work. The sooner we can leave, the better, so I hope you can get this done pretty quickly. Whatever help you need you can get. Otherwise, it looks like the rest of us have a little downtime."

The Corellian hated waiting. His old life as a vigilante on the run was much more up-tempo. There was always crime loose on Coruscant, and there was always someone he could be helping or someone else he could be foiling the plans of. However, with this leadership came change, and he had always known it would.

He received a comm from Brina, the pilot that had given them transport over to Bakura from Coruscant following the original meeting that had banded Open Sky together from a bunch of freelance mercenaries and vigilantes like himself. She would be transporting the rest of the group's personal ships, then.

Tycho stood and took a shuttle back down to the planet, telling Jarnok to call him as soon as the gravity well projectors were ready and attached to the SEED frigate. He had a little business to attend to with his "downtime".

The Open Sky leader found Brina in the hangar bay when he landed and he looked over his ship. It had taken some time for them to transport all the ships, but they had no uses for them in the meantime so he really didn't care. It would just have been more trouble and time wasted for him to do it himself anyway.

Tycho approached Brina. "Thank you for your service. You'll be well-compensated," he said. He felt rather ridiculous conducting business in his stolen SEED uniform, but he hadn't thought it necessary to remove it for the short time before the mission began.

Drawing credits from the store of wealth that the missing Forn Dodanna had brought from her successful career, Tycho asked, "How much do you require?"

With a raised eyebrow at the SEED uniform, Brina greeted the man, whom she recognized as Mr. Kosk. "The price for the service is fifteen thousand credits, Mr. Kosk," she said politely. "The Link thanks you for your business and hopes that you will choose to fly with our company again."

Tycho paid the fifteen thousand, feeling that the deal was a rather good one. He smiled as he transferred the credits despite thinking of a few dozen other ways he could spend the same amount in the war effort despite himself.

The Corellian nodded. "If we require any future transportation, Open Sky will trust the Link as it has in the past," he said.

Without further ado, he turned smartly away and headed into the complex and his quarters, which as of yet lacked any sort of personal touches. He would worry about that later, he decided. Tycho proceeded to lay down on his military-style bunk and close his eyes.

One operated better in combat if one was well-rested, and that was a philosophy that the vigilante held to as if he had been the one to invent it.

Brina accepted the credits and nodded to Kosk as he headed off to destinations unknown. She turned back to the ships and unhooked the ship from the YT-2400.

Seeing that her mission was complete, she jumped back in the ship and blasted off once again to Coruscant.

It appeared that Open Sky was going to proceed with this attack after all.

Renn glanced self-consciously down his body. He didn't think that he was an egomaniac, but he always had thought of himself as a fairly distinctive looking person. Perhaps it was just the armor he almost always wore outside of his ship.

Either way, the Imperials knew his face. So did SEED, if the "incident" on Coruscant was any indication. Puffi Maa... on the other hand, was a wildcard. SEED didn't even know of the droid's existance, and the only glimpse that the Imperials had caught of him was on Artus... just before the Rebellion took the planet. It was unlikely that the droid would be recognized.

But Renn would, if a security camera caught his visage and the image was transmitted to the Imps. That was a problem that was easily remedied.

Renn excused himself from the bridge, and headed for the ship's quartermaster. There, he requested a captured suit of SEED Shock Trooper Armor--specifically, one with markings indicating that the trooper was an officer. He also put in a request for the weapons that SEED Shock Troopers were known to wield in battle.

He found a private location--his temporary sleeping quarters--and changed into the armor. As he left, he took off the helmet, so unguarded instincts wouldn't provoke a jumpy trooper into accidentally stunning him.

Renn decided that he hated full-length armor. The helmet cut off his peripheral vision, and the plating impeded his movements somewhat. No sane bounty hunter would be caught dead in armor like this...

Once he managed to fit himself inside the armor (it was slightly too large for him), he hunted down Puffi Maa, who was still on the bridge, apparently admiring the beauty of Bakura, slowly revolving in the distance. Or just staring blankly into the distance, Renn had no idea.

"Surprise, Puffs." Renn fitted the helmet on as the droid scuttled about. "How do I look?"

If the droid was capable of facial expression, Renn was certain that he would be raising eyebrows in mock horror. "Who are you? What have you done with Renn?" The droid exclaimed in feigned surprise.

Renn sighed inside his helmet, a sound that the speakers apparently didn't convey to the outside of the armor. "Thanks. That's very reassuring."

"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"

OOC: Jarnok, I suggest you post. Do everything in that one post--I want to get this thing on the road, and its been enough days real time for you to have made the modifications.

IC: Tycho watched Brina leave and continued to wait. He wondered if Jarnok was ready yet...it had been essentially enough time for the modifications to be complete, though he doubted even Jarnok had the willpower to get it done that fast.

At any rate, he would have to prepare to leave at any minute. He was anticipating the mission with some anxiety. He really wanted to launch this campaign, and could only hope that future missions wouldn't take as long to initiate as this one.

((this post has been talked through with tycho, and he has given me permission to post his actions just this once))

After the meeting, jarnok had returned to his lab, and with the aid of tychos personal ship, he had constructed a portable gravity well. The ship could be piloted just as a normal ship, albeit alot heavier and alot slower, and thanks to the installation of a second, very large power supply, the gravity well could be initiated while the ship was moving. Hyperspace capabilities were lost for the ship, for now, but it could still manouver fairly easily, and it could be initiated within another ship.

Jarnok personally piloted his portable gravity well into the hangar of the captured SEED frigate, and set it down there. Disembarking the small ship, he took the remote with him to find tycho.

Tycho was pleased with Jarnok's efforts, and he was even more pleased that he could finally get the mission underway. He once again called for Vash, Jarnok, and Renn to come to the bridge of the frigate so the mission could finally be started.

The vigilante headed there himself, taking a small Open Sky shuttle. Upon arrival, he headed to the bridge himself, plotting the coordinates of their impending attack and waiting for the rest of his crew.

Vash made his way to Tycho. The shock of seeing Jidai Geki walk among those Vash passed was evident. Vash didn't just look like Geki, his speech, mannerisms, and movement perfectly mimicked the SEED leader. Vash arrived at the bridge.
