The Oxy was about to begin, when the chief designer was caught for substance abuse and his scores of anti-depressant medications were confiscated. It is presumed he committed suicide in the cortosis mines of Artus, soon afterwards. However, his replacement was found almost instantly, and the Oxy was begun shortly...

::Imperial and civilian forces work in collaboration to break down and transport the military drive yard space stations. They are replaced with Golan space stations, prepped for combat. Extensive mine fields are set up in the system and all forces are put on alert.::

The tunnel of hyperspace collapsed and three ships emerged from it. Two were simple Nebulon-B escort frigates, commonly used as mobile starfighter bases and support craft. They carried two squadrons of fighters each, in this case one squadron of E-wings and the other of K-wing bombers.

The third ship was a massive Starcruiser that dwarfed MC90a's. This was the flagship, the Dauntless, custodian of a dozen starfighter squadrons itself, carrying a mix of different ships for different tasks. At any rate, all were deployed quickly, though they wreathed the capital ships for the moment, holding back.

"Sir, the Drive Yards are at alert!" a sensor officer exclaimed. "It seems impossible, but they were ready for us!"

Admiral Onderin Starlisk, aboard his flagship, furrowed his eyebrows. He had no idea how the Empire had caught wind of the attack, but several disturbing thoughts followed. If they had learned the true nature of the attack, then the entire Operation would be reduced to a series of evenly-matched battles, things that had attempted to be avoided.

It didn't matter. Onderin would respond to the situation as it was now. The Dauntless had come with only a pair of escort frigates, hoping only to draw out the Imperial fleet, not necessarily prepared for an array of armed Golans, each a threat to the frigates. "Can I get a Star Destroyer count?" he asked.

"Attempting to do so," the same officer said.

"Alright, I'll need the K-wings to get inside and knock out the Golans with cover from the E-wings. If things get too heated, fall back. We're not here to do damage, we're here to delay," the Admiral ordered, pacing a few steps across the bridge. "Keep the capital ships at long range for the Golans. We can focus more turbolaser fire on them, so we can simply outlast them from here."

Damon saw the blockade that was wating for their small group of vessels. From the bridge he could the admirals plan already and knew what he was doing. Damon came up with a quick thought that might be of help. Damon opended a channle from friagte.

"Admiral, this is Damon. I have a small idea, but I need to barrow a squardon of E-wings. I belive I can take a Golan or two with just one squard. I will try to keep the raid time to a minium. Permison to launch Admiral?"

Its a blast from the not so distant past.

The drive yards themselves already packed up and sent off planet as per the tips, it was nothing but hot fiery plasma death that met the Rebel fleet as it exited hyperspace. Ridiculously expansive space mine fields strangled the planet's orbit in a mess created by the Imperial occupation to do no more than be a pain in Rebel ass. Kuat, in truth, had little strategic value, except as a Golan guarded hellhole to trap Rebel forces in.

As the planetary defenses opened fire the second half of their split fleet a sudden sense of dread overcame the wiser rebel veterans, as it became apparent what they just marched into--a trap in which victory would amount to little more than there being a "Survivors" count. The fleet immediately began to take hits, battered by the poised Golan cannons, while fighters so unfortunate to have been deployed began the arduous task of flying through mine fields, something often referred to by Imperial pilots as "A fun way to explode."

A privatly owned ship deemed the Lust had taken a position outside of the mine field, staying behind as orders had said. It was to observe what had the Imps spooked and what came of it. When the fleet appeared in system the war ship instantly began to scan what was here and transmit the data to its owner. Trowa Barton.

They were told that If the Alliance engaged them, they were to inform him as well so that he could bring the full force of his Fleet down upon the few ships that were here. That would include an interdictor to trap them in the system. Hopefully they were smarter then to attack the lone ship, still unmarked and freshly off the production line.

The minefield riddled the Alliance fleet, but no matter how intense incoming turbolaser fire was, it simply didn't have the range to deal any real damage to the Rebel ships. Planetary-based weapons were completely useless and Golans lost effectiveness over distance so that they were taking more damage then they were giving.

"Star Destroyer count--there appears to be only one, Admiral, and it's somewhat off to the side," the sensor officer said curiously.

"We'll leave it alone for now," Onderin said. He got a request from Damon and responded quickly. "Permission granted. Fly tight out there--the turbolaser fire is as thick as a forest as you get closer to Kuat."

"Sir," the sensor officer said again. "The shipyards seem to not really be here."

The Admiral raised an eyebrow and looked at the officer. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know if it's possible, but it seems like they just packed up and left," she said puzzledly.

Onderin scratched his chin. Not only had they failed to draw the Imperial fleet's attention, but they had nothing to shoot at but defense platforms. For the moment, he remained optimistic, wanting to give the Imperial fleet a little more time to arrive. At this range, they were really in very little danger, and they didn't have any reason yet to move towards the defense platforms or the planet.

That was an advantage he was going to make full use of--the platforms and planet were stationary, but the fleet had full maneuverability.

Damon watched as he was given a confirmation to launch and wasted no time as such getting to his fighter.

Damon checked all systems quickly and made sure the astro-mech was ready. He launched from the frigate and passed his security code along to the squad of E-wings and met up. Damon passed along the plan to the E-wings. It was simple, yet borderline suicidal. Still it was one of the few things he could think of that could take out the Golan's and allow the advancement of the Alliance here. Due to the E-wings maneuverability they would fly in hard and destroy the shield generators and then the stationary turrets that protected the main guns. They would of course have to dodge the fighters and the turrets themselves.

"Ok squad listen up. Split into two groups and do actually as I say. One half of each group will actually attack the targets the other will provide support and deal with fighter fire. After the shields are down however take out those turrets and get out of range from their main guns. The goal here is to open the door and let the bombers and the Dauntless come hang out some Imperials. Do your best and lets go home."

With that Damon saw a confirmation of green lights flash across his HUD and with that lead the first force into the hail of turbo laser fire. As the Admiral said it was thick. It was thicker than the forest on Kashyk, but it was not impossible to move though. So far so good in no loses and so far no sign of fighters.

As the squad made it though the fire the radars at first were clear. No signs of mines or fighters. Just the Golans. Then his display lit up with bogies, many more than expected,. Still Damon would push on and do what he was planning to do.

”œFighters men, time to divide and conquer. Move your asses or get out of the way. ”œ

Damon flew ahead of the squad and made the first run at the shield generator as second half of his squad did the same. The generator came into sight and Damon fired three photon torpedoes. One was shot off by a turret, but the other two hit directly. A green light came on showing that the second group had reached similar results taking out the shields of two Golans.

”œGood job squad, now don't get over confident. We are still swarmed by fighters here and clearly out numbered. Now take out those turrets and lets clear the way for the bombers.”

Its a blast from the not so distant past.

*Kirlocca pulled into the Ship yards with his ARC170. He took a quick second to view the battle thats was now raging.*

"I might be in over my head."

*Kirlocca opened his comlink on a private jedi/alliance channel.*

"This is jedi master Kirlocca. All jedi units to me. Onderin, we will need cover as we attack the main ship yards. Hold of all imperial war ships until we can do any kind of damage. Jedi units, bomb, explode, do what ever you can to destroy the ship yards. ALL UNITS GO NOW!"

*Kirlocca pushed his fighter forward, which was now armed with 6 torpedoes, ready to take out what ever might bring the station down.*

Onderin received the comm from Jedi Master Kirlocca grimly. "Master Kirlocca," he commed back. "Abort. The Imperial shipyards are not in the vicinity...they're gone. Furthermore, we have failed to draw out the Imperial Fleet. In fact, we'll only stay a few more minutes to try and take out a few Golans, then I plan to add our might to the fleet at Carida."

The Admiral stuck to his plans and noticed the Damon's wing had been successful in knocking out the shields of two of the Golan Defense Platforms. "Move a little closer and knock out those platforms, but keep out of range of planetary weapons," he ordered his crew.

The Svelte-class shuttle known as the Avenger, exits hyperspace in the vicinity of the famed Kuat drive yards. K'munee slowed his vessel's approach speed in order to prime all weapon systems and power up the deflector shields. As he drew closer to the combat area, he noticed the lack of battle activity. His sensors locked in of two Golan defensive space stations, but they were quickly dispatched by the Alliance fleet and a squadron of fighters. K'munee picked up on the presence of master Kirlocca as he neared the "killzone". A burst transmission was intercepted stating that the main attack group was pulling out and heading to Cardia to engage the Imperials.

DJK turned to Azrael who sat at the navigation station, at which time the younger Jedi informed him that he had already found the coordinates. A quick look to the navicomp display confirmed his work. All systems were green. K'munee activated the hyperdrive and they were off to their next destination.

A starfighter shot out of hypersapce as inconspicuosly as a lightswitch turning on in the middle of Coruscant. Lei Kim Ness looked over her navigation computer, attempting to orient herself. Where the hell are the shipyards?

"Abort. The Imperial shipyards are not in the vicinity...they're gone. Furthermore, we have failed to draw out the Imperial Fleet. In fact, we'll only stay a few more minutes to try and take out a few Golans, then I plan to add our might to the fleet at Carida."

Well, that answered her question, she thought grimly. She spotted Kirlocca's fighter turning about for a strafing run on a Golan Defense Platform. "Kirlocca, I'm your wing," she called through the comm channel, hooking hard to starboard and yanking the stick back, sending her into a dive her gravitational compensator barely handled, shooting off after her old friend, fingers ready on the trigger...

Approaching the Defense platform, she let fly several bursts of fire. Wish I was flying an X-wing, she briefly regretted, before pulling hard to port for another run....

*Kirlocca acknowledged Lei's presence on his wing as both faighters attacked the Golan Defense platforms.*

"Lei, on our next run, hit the sensor relay while I take out the main shield generator. It will make it easier for the Alliance to take them out that way."

*Kirlocca pushed his ARC170 forward for a barrel role so he could make another run on the Golan.*

"Will do, over." Continuing her turn, she pulled up, arcing over Kirlocca's craft in a diagonal ring, looping around the Golan. Scattered spurts of fire lanced through the space around her, but only barely clipped her shields.

"Going in for sensors... now!" The green targetting computer turned red as she got a lock for her proton torpedo. Pulling down on the trigger, she let go, then pulled back on the stick sharply, getting away as fast as possible...

Behind her, there was a large explosion, with bits of shrapnel glittering like diamonds in the dying incandescence. "Sensor relay is down."

Roxas felt useless. He stood off to the side on the bridge of the Dauntless, watching the puzzling 'battle' progress. He felt somehow in the way, and decided that now was as good as any time to try to practice a little, even with just a blaster. He went to the Dauntless' training room and picked up a blaster, and initiated the shooting range's target simulators. He heard the hum of the targets go up, but sighed. Although through the force he knew that the target was there, he wasn't strong enough with it to tell if he was actually hitting the damn thing. He turned the program off and placed the blaster back onto the rack. He went to his quarters and sat.

OOC: There hasn't been a post by the Empire in well over three days.

IC:

Onderin noticed the efforts of the Jedi as well as Damon, severely weakening the Golan defenses. "Alright," he ordered. "Close to a better range and start taking them out."

The Dauntless lumbered forward with more agility than a ship of its size often retained. Its many guns fired bright red pulses of destructive energy in coordinated banks of six guns each. This was coupled with ion cannon fire, making a devestating mix. Along with the two frigates, the flagship swept in closer to the Golans and demolished them in a single attack run.

By this time, concentrated starfighter support had reduced the minefield to spacedust and futher fighter support had weakened planetary defense turrets. While the Dauntless was close by, it made a few accurate hits on the surface to further disable ground-based turrets and caused destruction among Imperial garrisons and other military targets. Although the Kuati people weren't fans of the Alliance, Onderin would not sanction the destruction of civilian targets.

He then sent a comm to the rest of the small fleet and Jedi. "Good work, soldiers and Jedi," he said. "The Imperial presence here is now all but non-existant. I only wish the shipyards themselves had been here. Immediately set coordinates for Carida. I think we'll be of the most use there."

Just as he said it, a helm officer looked at him. "Sir, coordinates locked in."

"Good," Onderin said. "Recall fighters and enter hyperspace on my mark."

OOC: I'll post at Carida tomorrow with this section of the fleet.

*A dark image appeared before Kirlocca, showing him jedi killing innocent lives on the world of Cardia.*

Damon heard the return so that they could jump to Cardia, but these damn Golans still had a few generators left. Maste Kirccola had done well making things easier on the clean up.

"ok Bravo team carry on and take out one more generator and then let the Dauntless finsih it from there. Alpha get moving and lets knock out the last of there generators making these things nothing more than a sitting duck shall we."

Damons fighter had taken minimual damage to the fighter taking more than its fair share of energy from him. Damon kicked in the booster and made his run on the next generator that would leave only one after this one. The turrets were still active near it, but that changed as two missles knocked out each one. Damon hit the brakes fired one more missle and and performed a strafe run on the generator. He pulled up and and did a u-turn back flip and fired one more missle that knocked out the generator.

The green light came on once again showing that their targets have been destoryed and that all fighters were returning for repairs and to make prepations for Cardia. Damon lead his fighters back though the hail of laser fighter to the battle group. Bravo team went twoards the Dauntless and Alpha to the Nebula. As the team landed the squard and Damons ships were met by a large group of egnieers and mechanics who went to work repairing and reloading their vessles for the war zone known as Cardia.

Damon however did not wait in the docking bay, he made his way back to the bridge where he could monitor the action and easily make contact with the Admiral need be.

Its a blast from the not so distant past.
