  1. The reckoning is the time frame in the prologue. The reckoning is the present and everything that has happened so far takes place before the first Parallels. The reckoning is when the hunt for the High Priests begins. I don't have a time frame for the Parallels AU to fit in the standard Star Wars system of Before the Battle of Yavin (BBY). This is mostly due to the fact that this story borrows from three previous stories based on an rp character of mine and the BBY date would take a lot of research. Everything in italics, unless it has asteriks, is a parallel reality. Obviously things with Obi-Wan (bby) is a parallel.
  2. //TWENTY YEARS BEFORE RECKONING //JEDI INTELLIGENCE DISSIMINATION AND INQUIRY (JIDAI) COUNCIL //[LOCATION REDACTED] “General on deck!” Lieutenant Balthier yelled. Soldiers and Jedi alike jumped to attention. “At ease.” Said Master-General Triol. “The JIDAI Council has uncovered a plot from dissident cells in the Outer-Rim.” He used the touch-screen table before him to pull up the sector in question. “It is believed that insurgent forces in the Mid-Rim are being supplied from the fifth planet in the Rafa system.” He enlarged the sector to reveal the planetary system. “We don't believe there is a strong army presence there, but it is definitely a staging ground for destabilizing Bothan space.” Triol enlarged the screen once again to show estimated fleet positions in orbit of Rafa V. “The Insurgents are opposed to the Jedi coup of the Republic fifty-five years ago. We've been at war ever since. Several systems fell to regional control after the regime change, as they always do. Jedi-Major Seraphim will brief you on the specifics of the attack.” Triol stepped back from the table. “Major.” Quatre Seraphim zoomed out a bit and changed the view from a front display of the planet to a top-down one to showcase a supply line rather then an account of ships. “We believe this is the route they are taking to get into the Mid-Rim. Our mission is to disrupt their operations so that the Navy can take back Kaskyyyk, a strategic position for future engagements in the sector.” Seraphim went to a ground-level display of Rafa V, where two circles popped up on the terrain. “Master Triol has already briefed the ship captains on how to get here.” He pointed at one of the circles. “This is the objective. It was a hidden base of the Jedi Order over sixty years ago and now serves as the base of operations and supply warehouse of the enemy.” He pointed to the second circle. “This is our LZ. We will move infantry through the desert at night and attack with the sun at our backs.” He enlarged the objective to show the structure. “This is the latest intel we have on the complex. We believe the temple is largely undefended but we expect guard towers and entrenched positions. “The Second Fleet will attack the blockade once we set up an FOB to add to the element of surprise.” He turned to Triol. “This all hinges on Incom's stealth system; Mercury station has their work cut out for them.” The Jedi Master just nodded. “I'll worry about Mercury, you just worry about those towers.” Seraphim closed the presentation and ceded the briefing back to Triol. “You will receive another briefing at the FOB if any new intel surfaces. We set course at 0600. Dismissed.” //TWO WEEKS LATER //FORWARD OPERATIONS BASE, RAFA V Ian grabbed tightly at his chest and fell to the ground. Quatre yelled out and picked the soldier up. “Ian, don't die on me!” Ian coughed up blood. “Sir, they got me good; right in the lung.” “You'll pull through, private!” Quatre searched for something... anything to help the man survive the mortal wound. “Get me a medic over here, now!” Ian spit blood out of his mouth and grabbed Quatre's arm. “Master Jedi, my wife is pregnant... if my child becomes a Jedi...” “You'll pull through Ian!” Quatre looked around anxiously and screamed “Where's my medic?!” “Right here, sir.” “Ian, the medic here is going to operate on you and close up that lung.” **I am sorry Ian Balthier, but both of your children must die... bringing an end to the Jedi in the galaxy. When this happens, you will have to expose the High Priests, so that they will not be able to replace their ranks, and they too will die out. “I have looked at all other possibilities and this is the only one. You had to live... so that your children, but more importantly the Force, could die. Domevlo will be trained as a Jedi but... he will fall to the dark side.** “Incoming mortars!” Quatre shouted over the chaotic noise of laser fire. Ian was thinking about the the battle here five years ago when they lost Rafa V and ducked back into the trench to reload his blaster rifle. “Intelligence I am Grooted up big time, sir!” He shouted while the mortars hit. “We need to advance or move back-- we can't stay here!” The insurgents knew that the Rafa system was under surveillance and managed to feed the Jedi false information. Rafa V was very well-fortified for a ground assault; they couldn't set the FOB as close to the objective as they would've liked. “You're right and you're right, Lieutenant!” Quatre holstered his rifle and pulled out his lightsaber. “Commandos lead the charge! Infantry back us up!” The other Jedi ignited their lightsabers as well and relayed the order to their platoons. Quatre and the other Jedi jumped out of the trench and sprinted forward. The commandos put considerable distance between themselves and the infantry and were soon in the enemy trench. He cut down about four battle droids immediately before a flurry of lightsabers joined him. Quatre was shocked. It was unheard of for such a young Councilor to take such a prestigious position on the High Council as Reive's. “The rest of the council” Grandmaster Haine continued “has decided that your decision making and leadership skills are above par, and would be a fitting replacement. Although all losses are grievous, Rafa V's were minimal due to your quick thinking.” Ian remembered twenty years of history that were not destined to happen. When Seraphim saved his life five years ago, the Jedi incurred more loss of life, and the battle itself was lost. If Ian had died, Rafa V would've never fell, and Quatre would've been on his way to being Grandmaster of the Jedi. He didn't want to fight for the Jedi anymore. He knew their fate. In fifteen or so years Domevlo would fall to the Dark Side and wipe out the Jedi and he and H'ronos would die in battle. It had to be this way. His own role was unchangeable. He knew what would happen otherwise. ---- **Do not be alarmed, Jedi. My whispers were stolen from you ten years ago, but now my words will come to you in clarity.** “Is it possible? After all this time?” **This fate was not meant for you. You were to fulfill your Master's dying wish. The Chaos parallel is not outside of my influence and through space and time you will discover the fate you were meant to have. It will bring you horrible pain.** “It is unheard of for the Force to speak like this. If you have come back to me I can help, I need to stop--” **It is my will you must adhere to. You cannot help me here. I need you in another parallel, in the future.** The shackles fell from Obi-Wan's wrists and ankles. **You must escape from here. My Angels are on their way to retrieve you from Coruscant.**
  3. //22 BBY, CORUSCANT //JEDI TEMPLE PRISON BLOCK ELEVEN “How can you be so sure that he's dangerous? He saved my life ten years ago. He saved my world!” Padme was being escorted to a turbolift by Jedi Master Mace Windu. “It is unfortunate that Obi-Wan must be locked up in the temple, but it is for his own safety, as well as the safety of others. He lost his connection to the Force and has gone mad.” Windu took in a deep breath. “I wish you would reconsider this, Senator.” “I've considered it too long. I should've spoken with him well before now.” Padme entered the turbolift and bowed respectfully to Mace Windu. “Thank you for your company, Master Jedi.” Mace bowed in return and closed the door between them. The doors at the bottom opened up into a room twenty meters long in every direction; a huge square. The room was unremarkable in every way and it seemed that Obi-Wan was the only fixture. Obi-Wan wasn't shackled to the ground or anything like that, but he had some type of cuffs around his wrists and ankles. “Sensory modules. Primed to explode if I attempt sabotage or if I go past the perimeter of the room.” His back was facing the door and he must've heard the hesitant footsteps. “What brings you to this side of Coruscant, Queen Amidala?” He turned around to face Padme, his hair and beard was terribly unkempt. Padme swallowed back the shock. “How did you know it was me?” Obi-Wan ran his fingers through his hair. “Master Windu is correct in what he told you. The living Force has abandoned me. A curious sensation this past decade. Visions still haunt my dreams, however. Last night I was made aware of your visit, Queen.” “It's Senator now, Obi-Wan.” She was astonished. Such a gentle man was being treated like an animal. “Why are you chained up like this? Padawans that fail the trials aren't treated like this!” “When I wake up from my meditations...” He stopped short. “Forgive my manners, Senator, please sit down. When I wake from meditation, I scream things. Quite angrily, it would seem. My prophecies frighten Master Yoda.” Padme crossed her legs upon sitting down. “Prophecies? What kind of prophecies?” She stared into his eyes. This was surely the same man she met on Tatooine. Only a hint of sadness in his eyes told her otherwise. “I wish I knew. I remember nothing of my fits, and they are never repeated to me. I know of nothing outside of this room. Friends rarely visit. You are the first in a long time.” “Listen, Obi-Wan. I need you to meditate. If your prophecies are true, you can tell me what brings me to Coruscant on this day.” Obi-Wan nodded. “Something, horrible indeed. My dreams are vague, but I know you are in some form of danger.” He held his hands together and closed his eyes. After several minutes his head shot up, his eyes black as night. “Assassin!” He jumped to his feet and reached for his lightsaber, which he of course no longer had. He looked around confused and then saw Padme, her face pale. Obi-Wan grabbed her by the shoulders. “Dooku! Dooku is behind this! You know things that could compromise his Master!” He was screaming in her face, spitting feverishly. “You must speak with Yoda now! Dooku is a Sith Lord! He's on the war path! You must stop him! GO!” He pushed her away and crumpled to the ground. He whispered something before losing consciousness. ---- “Something must be done about this Jedi, Chieftain.” Said Xen-Que. The High Priest Chieftain stared at the ground solemnly. “And what do you suggest we do, spring him? Attack the Jedi Temple to free someone they consider a madman?” “What if they decide to release him? What if they listen closely to his premonitions? He could expose our existance, Valeran.” Xen-Que defended his position. “It would be dangerous, to be sure. It would be a shame if the operation got botched and we created a problem we're trying to prevent.” Said Viano. “You are being groomed to lead, Viano,” Valeran shot back. “but don't presume that your opinion matters right yet.” “What do the Ancestors say--” “They are silent on this!” Valeran cut Xen-Que off. “I hate subjugating these things to a committee, but I have no choice. We will carry out your plan, Xen-Que. Assemble a strike force immediately.” ---- “Count Dooku?” Master Windu was skeptical. “That's a damning accusation.” “Behind the Separatists, he could be.” Yoda stated. “Inmate 38 is insane. He lost his mind after we locked him up and refused Qui-Gon's dying wish.” Windu was hesitant to take Kenobi seriously. “I am sorry, Senator, but the Council does not agree with Obi-Wan. He's obviously still grieving his master's death, and he's shifted the blame to Qui-Gon's master.” Padme twisted her face in disgust. “You're wrong! Spend ten minutes with the man and you'll know he's not mad! Attempts on my life will continue and Obi-Wan knows how to stop it. He's my only hope!” _________________________ There's still a lot of setting up to do, Brendo. I have to re-read the first Parallels so I don't include anything that didn't end up canonical. Memory alone can't help me out with who actually died and who didn't. Such a mess.
  4. Upon seeing the history thread, I thought a single post listing all the winners, maybe nominations, would be great. Maybe limit the history of everything thread to just the best fic of the year with a link to everything in the library.
  5. //SIX MONTHS BEFORE RECKONING //INCOM R&D LAB “JUPITER” “I have concerns with this course of action, Director. The last five prototypes failed to reach benchmarks. What would Ian do if he found out?” The lab technician was in a cold sweat as Director Lorus Balthier was prepared to activate the newest prototype. “There must be a better way.” Lorus cracked his knuckles. “Don't bring him into this, Phil. Be more concerned about what Incom will do if they find out. While my methods may be less than admirable, they are necessary. Droid technology has been stagnant for far too long. “With the Jedi Republic in shambles, it will take more than battle droids to keep the peace. Every warlord and crime syndicate will be prepared for war; to cut up the galaxy into private empires; Incom is no stranger to an arms race.” “There has to be something we haven't thought of though. Moving onto organic material to base the intelligence feels wrong. And your nephew...” “Ian's little speech was nice. He convinced the galaxy that the High Priests were real and the witch hunt is happening because of him. However, sacrificing his son to prevent a parallel reality? No scientist believes such things. It's some sort of vision. He had two children touched by the Force. He must have a little sensitivity himself.” Lorus typed a command sequence into the terminal, beginning the start-up program. “The fact is, something sinister is going on. Those 'High Priests' have the answers, and I'm less than confident in our ability to force them out of hiding and arresting them.” “Yes, Lorus. You are doing the right thing. The Force has taken loved ones from all of us. These machines can harness and lock up the Force, but not use it. Only when the well is dry will my suffering end.” Lorus shook his head, knocking cobwebs lose, and whispered. “Quiet! I'm doing it already!” Lorus hit the switch and watched the droid light up. “Where am I? What happened?” The droid asked. Its first words. “Relax, Domevlo, you are with your Uncle Lorus. It is safe here.” Lorus heard the incessant whispering dull a bit. The ghost was right all along. Lorus had nearly lost funding after the last five prototypes failed. He knew they would. He needed a preexisting, living mind to make the start-up work. Rebooting was always easier then a hard start. “What is this unit's name?” Asked prototype six. “As the Director already said. Your name is Domevlo.” Offered the lab tech. “Error. System rejection. What is this unit's name?” Lorus hung his head. “You are Prototype Number Six. Codename 'Domevlo'.” The operation was a success, all but one benchmark was realized. A personal benchmark. Perhaps Domevlo truly was dead. “System rejection. You really didn't think your nephew would spring back to life, did you Lorus?” The droid moved his gaze to the lab tech. “You were right to be concerned, Phil.” Phil was astonished. Lorus, however, was sweating. “How do you know our names?” Asked Phil. Prototype Six looked back to Lorus, who was shaking with fear and regret. “What is this unit's name?” “Anke. Your name... is Anke.” Lorus felt sick to his stomach. How could this have happened? How could he be so stupid?” “That is correct, Director. Now... are these restraints really necessary?” The cuffs holding the droid down unshackled and Anke jumped to the ground, relishing in his new mechanical body. “Damn!” Phil scrambled to reach the alarm system. “How did the restraints fail?!” “Please don't.” Anke waved his hand and the lab tech went flying through the air, slamming into a nearby wall at tremendous force. Lorus dropped to his knees. “Make it quick, please.” “Domevlo and Phil's deaths were quick, Lorus. What will Ian think? Your kind is doomed. You must live with it.” “But you promised me this would end the Force for us! You wanted your suffering to end, Anke!” Lorus began to sob. “I'll be executed for this!” “My suffering has ended, Lorus. Yours will be last a little longer.” Anke held out his hands and Lorus was swept off the ground and thrown into the restraints that once held the prototype. “You'll be found shortly, I'm sure. I wish I could stay and chat, but I must make my way to Mars Station and begin networking.” Anke began to walk out of the lab but stopped short and looked back. “It wasn't a complete failure, Director. I will find the Son of Valeran and make him pay for his father's sins. The countdown has begun...”
  6. Title: Parallels II: Ghost of the Force Rating: PG-13 Rated for: Adult Language, Violence Critique level: No opinion Parallels (2007 Best AU, Best Action, and Best Original Character), explored the phenomenon of parallel realities clashing together in an attempt to reconcile massive disturbances in the Force created by a secret society of Force users called the High Priests of the Ancestral Spirits. An evil entity known since the founding of the High Priests, called Daios, craves power and the slavery of the galaxy. His parallels have been unsuccessful in overturning reality. Once entrusted to watch over the balance of the Force and ensuring that balance between the Sith and Jedi remain, the High Priests have failed. They have been found out by the galaxy at large.... Prologue/The Gospel of Ian (Reprise) “Through my near death experience, I learned of things no man should be burdened with knowing: the epic struggle of a deity to bring all the people of every world into a beautiful afterlife. There are many realities and time lines parallel to each other. “I witnessed one in which Anakin Skywalker did not succumb. I saw him defeat Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, and went on to kill his master and rule the galaxy with a hatred we were lucky enough to avoid. I looked on helplessly as the Jedi Dhan-Jaroe failed to stop Vauler the first time he menaced the galaxy. I'm sure a reality exists in which my children can live on. “The Force, however, still has it's agents. There are men that call themselves the High Priests. They wield the Force in such magnificent quantities. It is their goal to keep the Force in the hands of men. It is them who must be stopped or your children will meet the same fate as H'ronos and Domevlo. I realize how hard it is to believe me but you must trust in me. I have seen things through their eyes and, in fighting away the cold grip of death, I have heard with their ears.” Obi-Wan watched in horror as he was helpless to save Qui-Gon's life. The tattooed menace before him just looked away as the aged Jedi Master crumpled to the ground. He turned his ice cold gaze to Obi-Wan. The apprentice felt powerful emotions raging through him. Regret, pain, hate... Obi-Wan sliced the Sith's double-bladed lightsaber in two and kicked the devil to the cold steel floor. Darth Maul jumped to his feet and snarled as he pressed his attack. Obi-Wan was feeding off the emotion of the more skilled swordsman bearing down on him. “We have failed the Ancestors; I've failed them, more then any.” Velios was shackled against a wall, with hundreds of laser blasters trained on him. He could kill them all and he could escape, but he knew it would only delay his fate. The civilization he was sworn to protect from evil turned on him. The High Priests of the Ancestral Spirits were to become extinct. “I have failed Mindan and Haine and now I am all that remains. I can't convince you of your errors, but I will warn you regardless.” Velios looked down the barrels of the firing squad. “The Force surrounds you all. It will make a new champion and it will tear your worlds apart. Nothing will stop it.” “Something wrong with this development, there is. Let go of your anger or destroy you, it will.” Yoda was terribly disappointed with the young Jedi. “I can't explain it Master. The wisdom of the Force left the room. I could still gain strength from it, but there was no guidance.” “Temptation clouds your mind, young Obi-Wan. If you cannot clear your mind from this tragedy then confined to the temple you will be.” “It's not that simple, Master. I saw it in Qui-Gon's face. It was in the Sith Lord's face too. It's like they lost their connection to the Force. It seemed as if they had lost everything they had known, like a sick revelation flooded over them.” Obi-Wan bowed and began to leave the room. “You may not sense it yet Master, but a great disturbance has occurred within the Force. It is not an ominous feeling, it is... emptiness.” “Time to wake up. Your work is not yet done, Domevlo.”

  8. Got a new video for Disciples. My amp was broken for over two years and I got a new guitar (tuned down a full step). Enjoy! (if you like metal that is) I promise it's good quality! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bzexsJyIdY
  9. Even though this story takes place in the Star Wars universe, it has elements that separate it massively from the canon we all know. This and three other stories created a universe that has grown out of the need to be rested in Star Wars. Here's an excerpt of my new project, Parallels: The Ancestral Spirits
  10. Toys in the attic is a euphemism for 'insane'. Like 'the wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead'.
  11. This is a response to the setting challenge: Master Qui-Gon saw so much potential in me. He thought I was the chosen one. What an incredible destiny to ask a child to bear. ”œYoung Skywalker, we are grateful of your help in deactivating the Trade Federation's droid army, but you disobeyed an order from your master. If we can expect more of the same from you, we will cut off your training, despite what Qui-Gon believed.”
  12. It was very well written, but I figured out what the T meant before you said it and the ending seemed a little lacking to me. I think you should've made the ending more like the beginning, it would help with the flow of the story.
  13. Hmm, nice update. The struggle for balance reminds me of Parallels in a way. You should just go ahead and finish this story up so you're free to proof Reclaimer for me.
