  1. Kalyani and Kane sat at one of the tables with Lantra, Lena and Kara, Jaesko, Assa and Ilae. Kaly was having fun stirring her twin and Jaes, seeing Araac’s 19 year old sister blush as Kane flirted with her. He’d been oblivious of Jeasko’s interest until she had filled him in. The twins had also noticed how Sabian and their mother had been in each other’s company all night. “Do you think they’ll get back together?” Kaly asked her brother. “It looks like they might. I know Mum’s been lonely, especially since we’ve all flown the coop. I think Mel and Araac were matchmaking too… did you see how easily they got them dancing together?” Kaly had agreed. “They do look good together. It might be good for Mum if they do.” Their attention was drawn to the Dathomiri trio as their old tutors and their great Aunt filled them in on what had happened on Dathomir and how lucky they had been that Mitral had sent them off on a wild goose chase, otherwise they would have been killed as well. Having seen the smoke from the fires, they had been on their way back to the Raging River Clan’s village when they had discovered a contingent of Count Shadowlord’s soldiers in Zara’s Compound. They had been told that their village had been destroyed though their cousin Raia Selik was safe and had been with the Count and another two Sith Masters. “I thought Raia went missing... didn’t she Aunt Lantra?” Her Aunt nodded her head telling them that she’d been told Raia had been with the Sith for a number of years. When the twins asked where she was now Kara told them they could try contacting Count Shadowlord to find out since she was last seen on Dathomir with him.
  2. Zara laughed at her son-in-law, “Fair enough” Turning back to her daughter she added, “Now I’ve asked the dress shop to show you what they have… Oh Mel, there’s some gorgeous dresses in there. You are going to look so beautiful love.” Mellanie smiled weakly. As if on cue, Kalyani stepped up, placing an arm around her mother’s shoulders as she innocently asked, “Excuse me Mum, can I borrow Mel for a bit?” Zara looked at her eldest daughter suspiciously as the dark haired young woman whispered into her ear. Zara's eyes cleared as she nodded her head with a smile at both daughters. Kaly’s grey eyes were sparkling when she moved away from their mother and over to Mel, linking her arm through her sisters, “Come on Sis, I’ve got something to show you…” As they moved away from their mother she lowered her voice but still had a mischievous grin on her face, “I thought you might need rescuing. But I do have a good reason for the interruption.” Mellanie smiled. “Thanks. It was my own fault for getting her going.” Kalyani led Mellanie around some of the tables to a young blond haired man with golden eyes. “Told you I had a reason,” Kaly grinned as her eyes met with her twin’s. “Kane!” Mellanie exclaimed. “Hey, Sis. You didn’t think I’d miss my little sister getting hitched did you?” Kane grinned at his sisters as he enveloped Mel in his arms. “Congratulations.” ----- next day ----- Kaly climbed out of the bacta tank after her - hopefully - last treatment. The worst thing about bacta was the smell. She went straight into the shower and used a coconut scented shower gel to rid herself of the bacta stench before finally giving up, hoping that she’d gotten rid of enough of it to be bearable. The young Wartide girl sighed as she grabbed a towel to dry off, wrapping it around herself before she left the shower in search of a robe as she looked around to get clearance from the Doctors to leave the Medical Centre. “Woah Sis! How’d that happen?” Kaly clutched the towel tighter as she spun around towards her twin, “Kane!” Feeling that he was coming to terms with what had happened to his little sister, he hadn’t expected to see that his twin had been that badly injured too. Relenting she answered, “Shrapnel got me - I didn’t get to cover soon enough…” Kane’s golden orbs met with Kaly’s stormy grey, “You were on a roof the first time you got hit… then you got hit in the same place again later… when Mel lost her arm. I felt it but I didn’t want to believe it and I didn’t think it was that bad.” He handed her a robe as Doctor Kimble approached the twins. “That should be the last treatment Kalyani, as long as you don’t reopen the wounds.” The young woman shook her head as she answered, “I’ve learned my lesson there Doc. I don’t plan to.” Getting clearance to leave the Med Centre, the twins walked arm in arm along the staff corridors to the family suite. “Mum hasn’t seen the scars yet so I’m going to have to find a different dress than the one she got for me. I’d rather wear something else but if Mel has to wear a dress than I can put up with wearing one too.” Kane laughed, “Two of a kind.” He shook his head, “I never thought my sisters would become Mandalorians. Gotta say though, it suits you both.” There was no need to tell her twin how she felt - he could tell. Even though they’d been in different parts of the galaxy at times, they still shared a close bond. “Kaly!” She looked back down the corridor to see Jaesko catching up. Kane hugged her and gave Jaesko a nod when Kalyani introduced them. Giving his sister a kiss on the forehead he told her he’d ‘catch her later’ and headed into his room. The two women went into Kaly’s room with Jaes looking back at Kane’s bedroom door, “You never said your brother was that hot, Kal.” Grabbing a change of clothes she laughed and shook her head. “You never asked.” was her reply.
  3. It had taken a while but Kalyani and Jaesko finally got to the Resort. Kaly had talked with Araac's parents and they had all traveled together. Now she led Mellanie's new family into the place where the girls had mostly grown up in - apart from when they'd been at the Golden Link Casino. The two girls continued their conversation, "This has been my home for years so you can see why I like to be planet side. I love being able to look up and see the sky and breath the fresh air on Mandalore. I envy you when it comes to growing up there." Jaes looked around as Kaly led her friend out of the docking bay and into the reception area, not quite believing her eyes at the Luxurious Resort. They had docked in the families docking bay under Kaly's instructions and codes. As they had made their way through she had noticed the Crazy Mynock already there. "Mel and Araac beat us here." Jaesko stated. Zara and Brina were just entering the reception area when they walked in, having been alerted to the new arrivals. Kaly grinned at the two proprietors as her mother spotted her, breaking out into a wide smile. She heard her ask Brina if she'd known they were arriving, only for the other woman to shake her head no, that she hadn't known either. Zara took in the people that had come in with her eldest daughter though was quick to hug Kalyani as soon as she reached her, "You just be Araac's family. You just missed them. Mel and Araac have just gone up to their honeymoon suite." To her daughter she shook her head, "You should have told me when you'd be arriving." Kaly just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. She wasn't quick enough to hide the wince that action still caused. "Not you too? What happened to you?" The arm she'd rested around Kalyani's shoulders lightened as she felt her mother assessing her. "I caught some shrapnel in my shoulder. It's no big deal Mum. Mel had it worse than me." The young woman knew she'd be having a bacta treatment first chance she got and was a little surprised when Zara hadn't marched her straight to the med center. Kalyani hadn't wanted to further tax the medics on Mandalore when so many others required medical attention. Zara was quick to note the shadows under her daughters eyes though didn't speak of it just then. There would be time for that when they retired to their family quarters. Brina greeted everyone, giving Kaly a gentle hug with a look that showed concern for the young woman that had grown up in front of her. "You know your Mother is going to have you at the Med Center in short order don't you." Kaly gave a slight smile and a half shrug, "Yes, I know. I'm glad to see you Aunt Brina." Zara was over talking with Araac's parents when Kalyani introduced Jaesko to Brina. She pointed to everyone, naming them so that both Zara and Brina could put faces to names. It wasn't long before the family was led through to their accommodations. A call of 'Watch it!' sounded from a staff member who had to avoid a large black streak which launched itself at the young Wartide girl. Before she could do anything, Zara had 'caught' Rascal before he knocked her daughter over. Kaly just laughed as the Mandalorian's looked as if they were going to attack the large feline. Going down on one knee, she threw her arms around him as his rumbling purr began, "I've missed you too Rascal!" Jaesko shook her head, "It's no wonder you were so comfortable around Mirdala's sandhound Vi’ika." As Kalyani stood up again, she left a hand on Rascal's head, needing the black cat to know she was alright. "I'll give you a tour later Jaes. I've a feeling my next destination involves needles and bacta." The Vevut family went into their suites to relax having promised Zara that they'd all meet up at the observatory restaurant for the evening meal.
  4. Doesn’t matter who her father was… Kalyani was liking it here more and more. While on the KNMR, everyone knew who her father was and therefore were more wary of her. To be somewhere where that didn’t matter really was appealing to her. She was surprised when Fett mentioned Mel’s father and being the one to give him the scar. The way he spoke indicated a history with both their father’s and their mother. She thought over everything Zara had told them with regards to who came after them and her eyes widened slightly as she couldn’t help but ask, “Were you with Black Sun?” She knew that Piccolo had gone after Zara, trying to kidnap her before the twins had been born as part of an extortion attempt as well as a dig against Ronin. Kandor figured it worked both ways. “For a time,” he answered simply. Kaly gave a single nod. It was all just water under the bridge. Her gaze shifted to Mirdala as she spoke, “Would I be accepted into the Protectors?” She surmised that her sister would be most likely to be accepted because she had married into the Vevut’s family. If there was a chance of being accepted without being judged for her parentage, she’d take it. “You wouldn’t be the first outsider to serve the sector,” Mirdala replied. “Though, I wouldn’t expect that to last long if you did decide to stay. I’ve a cousin that came from outside the sector and she’s been of service to her community for years, though she’s with the Journeyman Protectors. They’re more the local police, judges, and enforcers. “The Protectors,” she continued with a glance toward Kandor, “as they’re being founded, are meant to be more our forces for hire. Instead of going through the Mercenary Brotherhoods, or any of the other Merc organizations out there, we’re forming our own. Jobs you pick up are your own to choose.” That sounded okay to Kalyani and she said so. The Link had been scaled right back to a few transport jobs and the resort. While she could have helped revive it, she got the feeling her Mother would prefer to keep it as a smaller organisation of which she could retire from, so that left Kaly wanting something more. This sounded like the answer. Mellanie smiled. She was pleased that Kalyani would be sticking around. She turned back to Fett and Mirdala and lowered her voice. “I know it's Mandalorian culture to accept outsiders who wish to become Mandalorian, and that family is more than blood. But I wanted to thank you, as representatives of your--our--people, for ‘adopting’ us. This is the first time I’ve felt like I really belong anywhere. And I know that's hard for you knowing that we are Force-sensitive.” She said the last bit very softly. She wasn't ashamed of that part of her, although it was inconvenient, but she also didn't care to broadcast it to the whole tap caf. Fett nodded. “We’re all who we make ourselves,” he said. After a pause he got up. “Nice talking to you both.”
  5. Kalyani returned her sisters hug and when Mel and Araac made their offer she grinned. “Haven't found a ride yet but I’m sure I can with someone. I had been thinking of hanging round for a bit. Jaesko and I were giving them a hand fixing up the school.” The young woman shook her head though there was admiration in her eyes, “Those kids are so resilient. They’ve lost friends but they keep going.” Over the course of the battle she had felt her sisters new family accept her as well. She was actually feeling like she could belong here too and that felt good. It was so great to be planetside rather than living life in the space stations, even though they were luxurious. “If I can’t get a ride I guess I can always ask Mum to send someone to pick me up.” While she knew that Zara wanted her to work for the Link, Kaly wanted some independence. The Mandalorian way of life was appealing to her. Zara and Aunt Brina had been shocked at their appearance when the girls had contacted them after the battle was well and truly over. Mellanie’s missing arm was cause for the most concern though Kalyani’s injuries worried them too. Kaly flexed her arm again, testing her range of movement. She had received further treatment and her wounds were healing well - she just had to behave herself and not overdo it. While she had been helping Jaesko work on the school, the latter had fussed when she thought Kaly was doing too much. Where she could Kalyani tapped the Force to lift some of the rubble out of the way though was very careful not to be seen doing it. She hadn’t seen much of Mellanie and Araac after they had announced they had married. She was thrilled for them and laughed - and backpedaled - when Mellanie said she had to tell their Mother, raising her hands as she’d said, “You’re on your own with that one Sis.” Zara and Aunt Brina had taken the news surprisingly well. Bringing her thoughts back to the present her smile widened as she looked at her sister and brother-in-law, “You know what Mum’s going to ask when we get back to the KNMR don’t you…” her voice held a teasing note and her eyes sparkled. Zara wanted grandkids and now that Mellanie and Araac were married… Kaly couldn’t help but laugh at the resigned look on her sisters face.
  6. It seemed like this war would never end, though finally it did. Kalyani and Jaesko made their way back to where the Vevut clan had gathered, the young woman relieved to hear that Mellanie and Araac had returned and were crashed out somewhere. It was getting difficult to put one foot in front of the other since the adrenaline that had been keeping her going wore off. Her left arm now hung limply at her side, a constant 'thud, thud, thud" of pain lancing through both wounds so much so that it had become distracting. Not being fussy, Kaly dragged herself inside a bombed though cleared out building and sagged to the ground. She rested her back against the wall, wincing as it hurt her wounds. What she wouldn’t have given for a bacta tank or the skillful talents of a particular Jedi Healer. She wouldn’t speak of that idea though, knowing how it would be received. Even though exhausted, it took ages for the young Wartide girl to fall asleep. Her thoughts were too busy for her mind to rest. She wondered how Mellanie was, how her twin brother Kane was - wherever he was - wondered about her Mother and Aunt Brina. Her tired eyes met with Jaesko’s as her friend made herself as comfortable as she could on the floor as well. For all the enemy she had killed, Kaly couldn’t forget that first one. The man just wouldn’t stop haunting her thoughts. That was why she kept trying to keep her mind busy - so she wouldn’t think of him. Wouldn’t think of how she had killed him, regardless of the fact that he would have killed her first had he put more effort into it. She’d just got him first. “Get some sleep Kaly. We’ll find Mel and Araac tomorrow.” Jaesko’s voice seemed to come from a great distance as she wearily raised her head. “Yeah…” she murmured finally giving in to the sweet oblivion that had been teasing her, her mind finally falling into a calmer state allowing herself to sleep and with any luck she wouldn’t have another nightmare...
  7. When Kalyani woke up she was lying on a stretcher with her armour partly off. The nurse checking on her looked familiar as she methodically checked the IV they’d put in her arm. The young woman swallowed a groan as she tried to sit up, partly from pain, partly from the knowledge that she was about to get read the riot act. “Ah, back with us again. You were supposed to look after that shoulder wound Missy, though I concede you hadn’t realised you’d been hit with more shrapnel.” The sound of heavy weaponry sounded in the distance and Kaly searched around frantically for her sister, “Where’s Mellanie?” Managing to sit up she went to pull out the IV, convinced that her little sister had gone out into the action again. That was where she needed to be too… She knew that Araac would watch over her but still she fretted. Kaly had to get out there again too no matter the risk of doing more damage to herself. “Hold on a minute you. Wait until the doctor gets here...” Kaly cut her off with, “I can’t wait that long and you need the bed for someone else. If you don’t help me take it out I’ll do it myself.” A determined look crossed her features. The nurse must have realised that she meant it as she moved closer to take it out properly so that the anxious young woman wouldn’t rip it out and do more harm than good. “You’re up,” a voice stated behind her, Kalyani turning to see Jaesko standing there. Giving a nod she answered, “And soon ready to go.” Jaes gave her a sharp nod in return and Kalyani got the impression that her friend was anxious to get out there too. She seemed just as protective of her older brother as Kaly was to Mel. The nurse put a dressing around her arm where the drip had been and then checked the bandages over her shoulder wounds. She have Kaly some painkillers to take with her and between the two girls, they got her armour back in place, it being better than nothing even though some of it was filled with holes. Checking their weapons and replacing the cartridges for fresh ones the two headed out of the makeshift med center and back into the fray, each wanting to find their sibling.
  8. Kalyani kept close to Araac, her senses stretched to their limit, her eyes trying to see any threat that might spring up. She noticed Jaesko doing the same on her brothers other side. The dull thud, thud of pain in her shoulder was making itself known more and more and she just knew she would cop an earful from the medics when they got in. It was slow going and when Mel demanded she be put down Kaly moved closer. Concern was written all over her face as she watched her sister. They encountered a few other skirmishes on the way and lost another of their number before they were back behind their own lines. By the time they reached the Aid Post Kaly’s shoulder was ‘screaming at her’. Still she insisted that Mellanie be seen to first. Feeling more worse for wear than ever, the young woman slumped down to sit on the floor, her back against the wall though couldn't help the yelp of pain that escaped as her back made contact with the wall. It seemed she’d been hit by something else which caused blood to leak out of her armour. She hadn't noticed when the small projectile had hit her and figured she must have reopened the original wound. Exhaustion weighed heavily on her as she watched the medics work on the growing line of wounded streaming in. Kalyani took her helmet off and laid it on the floor beside her. She could see that Mel wasn't the only one to lose a limb and age was no barrier. She heard someone say that the Spaceport was under attack just as darkness overcame her.
  9. As Mel began giving orders, Kaly watched on feeling proud of the way her younger sister was taking command. She had her father’s strength and presence Kalyani thought. She followed along with the rest of the group until they stopped at a large rock formation for a rest. Kal laughed at Jaesko’s joke and only laughed harder at Araac’s reaction to his sister. Shaking her head she checked the charge on her blaster, looking up to see Mel stop still, a spike through the Force told her there was danger just before the landmine went off. “Mel!!!” Kalyani screamed and hurried in a mad scramble towards her sister through the dust, debris and smoke, though it seemed as if she were moving in slow motion. She couldn’t get to her fast enough. When she did she saw part of Mellanie’s arm missing. Kaly grabbed one of the bandages she’d been given to change her own dressings with and began to wrap Mel’s arm up as best she could. To Araac she said, “We need to get back now. What have we got handy to make a stretcher?” Knowing how much pain her sister would be in she grabbed out one of her pain injections, took off Mellanie’s helmet with Araac's help and jabbed her sister in the neck with the pain killer. She looked around at Jaes and the others, seeing that one of them had picked up the missing limb to take with them. “Tree branches… long enough to support Mel. We can tie one of the ground covers around them.” she ordered. When one of them started to complain Kaly got short tempered with him, “It’s either that or we all take turns carrying her on our backs. So what’s it going to be… fireman's carry or stretcher?” Kalyani knew Araac would want to carry Mel and if he did, she would stick like glue to them to guard against anything else happening and to hell with it, she’d use the Force more to ensure their safety until they got her sister to a med station. She’d also take her turn in carrying her sister regardless of having the shoulder injury. The Doctors could take it out of her hide when they were all safe back at base.
  10. The sight of the children in the center of the ritual site was sickening and served to anger the young woman enough to forget her pain. Her stormy eyes, so like her mothers, narrowed as she focused on each cultist that came into range, squeezing shot after shot off to drop them. For once she wished she had asked her older brother or Count Shadowlord for some training... or even her sister's father. Any Force training so she could stop the suffering of those poor kids... Hearing Jaesko shout out Kalyani was quick to move, still firing as she moved in the direction her friend had signalled. The short breather was welcomed though proved to show how fatigued she was. Can't stop... gotta keep going... got to finish this... When the others left the shelter of the outcrop, so did Kalyani. She'd clicked in a new blaster pack and let her focus take hold so that she didn't waste any shot she fired. Each shot hit a target.
  11. It seemed that all hell had broken loose. Kalyani kept Mellanie in sight as they pushed forward. She put the pain in her shoulder to the back of her mind and just got on with it as best she could. It shocked her when the crazed cultists began to emerge from hidden trenches. The insanity in their eyes as they triggered grenades had her feeling emotionally numb. So much death… and they weren’t even armoured… not even fully clothed. With whatever the Sith had done to them the kindest thing to do was to put them down… at least that was what she told herself though it was like lambs to the slaughter. Catching sight of Mel signalling to Jaesko, Kalyani joined them, arriving beside them at the same time as Araac and a few others. Seeing where Mellanie was indicating she gave a sharp nod. She slipped in a new charge pack into her blaster and headed off, though the closer they got to the ritual site the more nauseous she felt. Glancing at her sister she knew that she was feeling it too, despite not being able to see her features. In a way she was glad for her open face helmet - at least if she had to be sick she wouldn’t have to rip her helmet off to do so. At the same time she did wish for the extra protection a full faced helmet would provide.
  12. The explanation went over better than expected which relieved Kaly significantly. She wouldn’t have to hide what she was from her new friend. When the cry came out from the Vevuts that Araac’s and Jaesko’s cousin had died all she could do was to offer condolences. With all the death she had seen since she’d been here, this hit a little too close to home since she had been welcomed into the Clan just as much as her sister had. It was with a heavy heart that she took to her bed that night. It hardly seemed that she had closed her eyes when they were woken up and mobilized. It took a bit to get going, her injured shoulder felt stiff and sore, also throbbing where she had accidentally bumped it when she had put her armour back on. She took one of the painkillers the doc had given her though there was no time to change the dressings. That would have to be done when there was time. She looked up as Mel and Araac joined them, each having some of the travel rations for breakfast on the move. As they marched on, Kalyani mused over the message Mandalore had sent out, warning of a significant darkside event. When they reached the location where the other clans had gathered, she stood with Mel, Araac, Jaesko and the others, feeling shivers up and down her spine. For some reason Kaly felt as though there were tiny microbots sticking needles into her spine from neck to tailbone and back again, making her tense up and shiver. Something was not right and she couldn’t put a finger on it. It had a foul stench to it, her eyes meeting those of her sister as she realised it could have something to do with the darkside event, “I have a bad feeling about this…” They moved out with the others, Kaly keeping within seeing distance from Mel as they went through the forest. Her danger sense seemed heightened, her eyes darting back and forth over the ground, at trees, everywhere she could think of but that feeling of spiders crawling up her spine wouldn’t leave her. When Mel called for them to halt, triggering a landmine from a safe distance, she knew her danger sense had been validated. Word also filtered down to them about the Monofilament wire and a mirade of other boobytraps they had to watch out for. She kept her eyes peeled for traps, instinct leading her to grab Jaesko with the Force and pull her backwards when she found the subtle signs of a tripwire mine. No one had seen her initial “grab” for Jaes, only seeing Kaly’s hand dragging her backwards out of the way and signalling to the others about the tripwire. They took cover and triggered it, making it safe for those following behind them.
  13. “Should have known you would have felt that…” Taking a steadying breath, Kalyani answered her sister, “I took some shrapnel to the back of my shoulder… but I’m alright. It’s nothing.” Then she studied Mel’s face, “Are you alright?” During the sister’s conversation, Jaesko listened to them with a puzzled look on her face as if trying to make sense of their low spoken comments. There was something she was missing… something Araac knew... Kaly heard Araac as he cleared his throat and when the sisters both looked at him he told them that they had better tell his sister what was going on. “You know you can trust her, isn’t that right Jaes.” Jaesko automatically answered with, “Of course you can… what is it?” She was beginning to suspect that she knew… things she was only just making sense of since watching the Jetii. The four of them moved further away from the others and stood close so that they wouldn’t be overheard by anyone else. Kaly and Mel shared another look before the elder sister turned to Jaesko, “We don’t let a lot of people know so I hope you’re not offended that we didn’t tell you before…” As Kalyani told her that they were sensitives, Jaesko had a look upon her face as if a lightbulb lit up above her head. “That’s why you went with Mirdala isn’t it and why you’ve got those additions to your armour.” She paused as if puzzled by something before asking in a hushed tone, “That’s how you pushed that grenade away without touching it isn’t it? How did you not get it far enough away before it went off?” Kaly ducked her head in embarrassment, “I did with the first one… this one… I thought I had better cover than what I did…” The look on Jaesko’s face asked the unspoken question, “First one?”
  14. Jaesko met up with her just after she left the aid station. “How’s the shoulder?” Kaly just grimaced and shook her head, “Won’t stop me. Might slow me down but won’t stop me.” She held determination in her tone. It was obvious where her injury had been by the different coloured patch on her standard khaki coloured armour and she hoped that it wouldn’t become a further target. Kalyani hoped that she wouldn’t be hindered too much by the injury. Changing the subject she asked, “Where’s Mel and Araac?” “That’s where we’re going now. I figured you’d want to catch up with Mel… I don’t think she knows about your injury.” Jaesko was apologetic in her tone before it became full of awe, “I heard they were somewhere near the Jetii. Apparently he’s got some kind of special battle tank.” Kalyani closed her eyes for a moment when they stopped for a short break, finding it uncomfortable to move her arm and shoulder too much. Breathing in she sought her sister for reassurance that Mel was alright, sighing with relief as she found her. They weren’t that far from where she was. Opening her eyes she murmured, “Ok Jaesko, let's get to them. I need to see Mellanie.” They moved off once more, Kalyani gritting her teeth as she pushed the pain to the back of her mind. She was very much on alert, feeling like the hair on the back of her neck was standing upright. A short time later she caught sight of her sister and Araac, glancing round to make sure it was safe she headed right for her. Kaly put her uninjured arm on Mel’s shoulder, attempting to hide her injury because she didn’t want her little sister worrying that she’d taken a bad hit.
  15. Kalyani must have drifted off to sleep as when she woke she was disorientated. Seeing the nurse come back in carrying her repaired armour brightened her up considerably though it didn’t stop the accusation in her tone when she spoke. “You had a sedative in that hypospray didn’t you.” Kaly stated as she looked at the nurse. “You needed to rest to heal. I’ll check your wound and see how it’s looking.” The nurse placed the armour down and turned to wash her hands in the basin before approaching the bed to check her wound. Carefully she unwound the bandages and checked it over, giving a smile as she added, “That’s looking good.” Her hands were gentle as she did the bandage up again. Glancing at her timepiece she added, “The Doctor will be around after the evening meal which should be here any time now. We will change the dressing then and see if you’re allowed back out there. It most likely won’t be tonight but he might release you in the morning.” Kaly sighed as she leaned back against the pillow and muttered, “It’s a shame you don’t have a Jedi Healer around here. I’d have been back out there by now.” The nurse, whose nametag said ‘Sasha’ raised an eyebrow, “Know one do you?” Her tone was a little sarcastic, given how the Mandalorians didn’t like Force Users. Kalyani couldn’t help but grin as she answered, “As a matter of fact I do. Mum’s good friends with Master Healer Skye Organa.” Sasha gave her a disbelieving look. “It's true. Uncle Kheldar organised for Master Skye to come and heal my Aunt Brina several years ago. They've been good friends ever since.” Kaly defended. Hearing the ring of truth in her patient's voice Sasha nodded, “Alright. I believe you. I didn't think the Jedi were around much these days.” Kalyani sighed, “No. That bounty on Force users sent them underground.” Their conversation was interrupted by her meal being brought in. Sasha helped her to get more comfortable so that she could eat one handed since her arm had been strapped up so she couldn’t use it. Luckily it was a hearty soup with crusty bread and Kaly got stuck in. She was hungrier than she thought. Sasha gave her a smile, “I'll leave you to it.” Kalyani was just finishing the last bite of her meal when the Doctor and Nurse Sasha came back in. In no time at all her bandages had been removed and he checked the wound, telling Sasha to bathe it and put a fresh bacta patch on it once they were finished with the examination. “We will check your range of movement now and see how you respond - not that you should go climbing up onto any more rooftops in a hurry.” Kaly was surprised he had heard about that though she figured the medics would have told him of how difficult it had been to get her down. He took hold of her arm, gently rotating it both forwards and back, lifting it, getting her to do each of the movements he had done under her own power. While it hurt like hell, she pushed through the pain and was able to do everything. “Can I get released… please... I’ve got to get back out there.” The Doctor’s face showed conflict. He knew that they needed every able body out there defending Keldabe. There had been a lot of wounded brought in and they needed more beds than they had. At last he answered her, “I’ll release you. Only because we need the beds. You take care out there and try not to over do it. You’ll need your bandages changed in about twelve hours.” Kaly smiled up at him, “Thank you Doc.” After he left, Sasha bathed, repacked it with bacta and redressed the wound. She also assisted Kaly in putting her armour back on. Once in it, Kalyani tested her movement again, pushing through the pain. She was slower but she could do it. Moments later she was working her way through the streets. Activating her comm. she noticed the jammers weren’t active now, so put a call out to Jaesko to see where to go.
