JediRP Canon History:

Myrkr is perhaps most famous for the creatures who make their home in the expansive forests. Ysalamiri, the infamous lizards who create bubbles of space where the Force is absent, have been the main draw for all characters traveling to and from this heavily forested planet. Hand-in-hand with ysalamiri, however, come the vornskrs, vicious predators that are drawn to and feed on the lizards.

It is highly recommended that Force-sensitive persons exercise caution when traveling to Myrkr. Harvesting of ysalamiri takes one week of real time, and will be supervised by the mods. Individual characters may harvest up to one ysalamiri per day. Faction-affiliated characters may harvest up to one dozen ysalamiri per week. Vornskr attacks will be at random, at the mods' discretion. Failing to remain on Myrkr for a full week will result in an unsuccessful trip where no ysalamiri will be removed from the planet.

Old description in spoiler:

Despite being well within the borders of the Old Republic, and having been on official registries for more than 300 years, the planet Myrkr has been steadfastly avoided by the Jedi Knights.

It was not the high metal content of the trees that kept the Jedi away, though that characteristic does have notable advantages. The teeming forests of Myrkr obscure sensor readings, making it an ideal hiding place for those on the run from the law. The natural predators that roam these forests aren't the reason either, though the sleek and agile vornskrs exhibit a predisposition to attack Force-sensitives.

The reason lies in the small sessile salamander-like creatures that live in trees. The native ysalamiri have the singular ability to push back the Force. Their presence creates a bubble wherein the Force doesn't exist. A Jedi trapped in an ysalamiri's presence cannot tap the mystical energy field that defines his or her abilities.

Sessile tree-dwellers from the obscure planet of Myrkr, the ysalamiri are among the most bizarre creatures of the galaxy. As part of a defensive mechanism that protects them from Force-sensitive pack animals called vornskrs, the ysalamiri have developed the unusual ability to "push back" the Force.

Ysalamiri are small, furry salamander-like creatures no larger than 50 centimeters long. Their long claws grow directly into the cores of the branches they inhabit, drawing nutrients from the mineral-rich trees. It takes special knowledge to successfully remove an ysalamiri from a branch without killing it.

A single ysalamiri creates a bubble in which the Force cannot be manipulated. In groups, the size of the bubble increases. Vast areas in which the Force cannot be used cover Myrkr.

Vornskrs are the natural preditors of the planet of Myrkr, and have the ability to hunt through the detection of the force.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, ANYONE COMING TO THIS PLANET TO HARVEST THE YSALAMIRI, WILL HAVE TO FACE THE VORNSKRS.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT FORCE SENSITIVE PERSON DO NOT COME TO THE PLANET OF MYRKR. IF YOU COME TO HUNT YSALAMIRI, IT WILL TAKE A WEEK OF POSTING TO HARVEST THE CREATURES. AND ALL DURING THIS WEEK, YOU WILL BE HUNTED BY THE VORNSKRS.

HAVESTING WILL BE SUPERVISED BY THE MODS AND THE SENATE, AND SOMEONE FROM A FACTION, (ie, republic or empire) MAY HARVEST UP TO ONE DOZEN YSALAMIRI A WEEK, IF THEY CAN SURVIVE THE VORNSKRS. AN INDIVIDUAL GOING TO THE PLANET MAY HARVEST UP TO ONE YSALAMIRI A DAY, DEPENDING ON WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN GET PAST THE VORNSKRS.

The Mods and the Senate will be controlling the Vornskrs, and the Moderators will let you know how many Ysalsmiri you have harvested in a week. If you come to the planet to harvest the Ysalamiri, you must stay for at least one real time week. You may not come to the planet and harvest them in one or two posts.

Good Luck and May the Force be with you, or not in this case.

  • 4 weeks later...

A small flotilla of Imperial transports, guided by a massive Imperial Star Destroyer, exit hyperspace above the jungle world of Myrkr. At the helm of the Star Destroyer, Guerreior, Admiral Orcu watches as the Imperial freighters descend towards the jungle planet's surface.

Strange animals take to the sky or run into the jungle as the bulky Imperial transports land in an open clearing. Jets of steam shoot out from underneath the transports as massive gates open on the front of each of the ships. From the bowels of the craft, smaller ships emerge. These ships are Imperial cultivation machines, specialized to hold vast amounts of living creatures. Following the cultivation machines are Imperial troopers. These troopers are genetically advanced Myrmidon soldiers. Marvels of Imperial science, the Myrmidon troops have been altered to make them essentially perfect hunters and killers. The troopers have also been altered so that they have zero Force potential; they are voids in the Force. The troopers, lacking compassion, mercy, and the capacity to feel pain, are equipped with heavy armor and advanced weaponry.

The cultivation machines, followed by scores of Myrmidon troopers, set out into the jungle to harvest Ysalamiri. Meanwhile, above the planet, the Guerreior launches several advanced TIE Fighter squadrons to patrol the heavens. Watching from the Guerreior, Imperial Admiral Orcu smiles wryly.

Hidden deep in the forests of Myrkr, the natural Predators of the planet sit, and wait, the arrival of any who seem to be "outsiders." As they watch, move, and hunt stealthily, a surprise attack lies in wait for anyone that comes "snooping" around their terrain. The pack hunters are to be feared, and they serve as the planet's natural defense, as Jedi Knights and Sith Knights alike, shy from the idea of entering the planet's system, for loss of the Force becomes painfully evident even in the far reaches of space.

The Vornskyr wait - and watch - and strike when they see fit.

Three ships come out of hyperspace above in the Myrkr planet.

The Shadow Rider, the Vixen Ray and the Empress glide down through the atmosphere, landing in parade ground formation.

The three hunters exited their ships, armed and prepared to harvest the unique indigenous animals that made even Sith Lords nervous.

"Okay, lets get to work. While you two start harvesting the Ysalamir, I will keep an eye out for the Vornskyrs"

"Right-o, Mike."

Myth turned to a nearby tree, scanning it's limbs for the Ysalamiri. It wasn't hard, there were plenty to find. Immediately, she set about carefully removing the creature.

OOC: do we have any support frames for them???

*The Vixen Ray dropped out of hyperspace and did a snap turn though the atmosphere of the planet diving down to where the other two hand landed, his ship stopped approximately 100 meters above the ground fitting snuggly in-between two trees, claps detached from the ships hull grabbing firmly on the near by branches, a spiral hatch on the underside of the ship opened and a red blur descended toward the forest floor, about 25 meters down the blur shifted direction horizontally and stopped on the base of a tree, the man now far more visible at his stable position gave a cocky smile to his comrades.*

Sorry I'm late.

*For those listening intently a gentle hum emanating from Exion's boots as he stood on the side of the tree, he shifted a rifle off his back and took a kneeling position. He pulled a small monitor off his belt his index finger slipped across a button on the device causing it to lock against the tree, with another tap of his fingers the monitor flickered on giving him a read out of heat signatures in the area, there where many signatures, making it difficult to determine which one was his company, which ones where the ysalimari, and of course the most important of the three the vornskr, but Shalash had a plan.*

So life is cruel let it not be unfortunate... Let it be an experience...

*Vornskyrs sense Myth Hunter's Force-signature, as she has no Force to call on. The pack surrounds the non-Jedi, surrounding her, front, back sides. 1 of the pack jumps on her back, slashing her wide open, rendering her immobile, while the others catch her and begin to maim and maul her.*

*A tripod rockets down from the rifle and burrows into the tree below him. He glances at the monitor again seeing the fast moving blurs of the hunting creatures moving in toward the Myth, BHM and himself, his other hand restos on something beneath his cape.

***The attack***

A hail of blaster bolts come raining down on the Vornskyr, cutting them down like the dogs they are.*

So life is cruel let it not be unfortunate... Let it be an experience...

*As the first pack of hunters is mowed down, more come, 3 to replace each one that is killed. Easily overpowering the assault force, the Force-user immobile, the pack starts to circle the one with the weapon. The packs are dropping like flies, but still they come, more and more, until countless hunters overpower the "controller" of the weapon, taking pieces of his flesh, one bite at a time, making sure that their acidic saliva gets into those wounds, slowly bleeding him. Two down.*

*The systems inside the Vixen Ray blink on one by one as the ship does a self diagnostic. Then a program begins to run.

AI systems check.

The thrusters begin firing in a systematic order and the clamps detach from the trees surrounding them.

A mechanical voice engages from inside the ship.*

Doom barrage engaged.

*A spray of laser bolts dart downward, each one seemingly having a mind of there own as they twist and turn dodging branches and shifting around the hulking trees each spear of light rending a creature into pieces. The ship activated its shields and began to rise above the tree canopy lending cover fire to BHM.*

For every problem, a solution can be offered, should one have the planning and resources necessary to complete the solution. A cargo ship bearing the KVC enterprises logo hovers over the canopy of Myrkr. A door opens and several repulsorlift platfroms emerge and skim a safe distance above the canopy. Ganelon stands at the head of these like an admiral, the ones following piloted by a series of droids.

"Turn on the machines!" Ganelon orders.

The droids, fanning out in a large circle comply. As they do so, a loud howling noise is heard below as the vornskrys cry out in pain. The cries fade into the distance as the droids fan out into a large circle, spanning a dozen or so miles in diameter.

"Lower the lifts!" Ganelon orders next.

The lifts slowly descend into the forest and touch down.

"PARAMETER SECURED" comes the answer of a droid.

"Capital," Ganelone commands from his lift above the canopy. "Report back to Kheldar his plan worked. Bounty Hunter Mike," he states, "this is Ganelon of the KVC Enterprises. Stay where you are. We've set up a large sonic field in the area to drive away the vornskrs, attuned to their hearing. They will have fled the area and as long as the machines are up cannot come back with in a seven mile radius of where we touched down. We'll be sending down droids to resume the harvesting and a repulsorlift to get you and any wounded out."

Ganelon directs another droid to go down to Mike and returns to the cargo ship, landing it safetly in the large circle. Phase one completed.

Mike approached the new comer, shaking the mans outstretched hand.

"I must thank you for the assist that you offered, it would have taken me hours to drive off that many Vornskyrs. And I was unable to call upon my limited Force powers to enhance my skill. However, not to sound ungrateful or anything, but I must ask. Why did you come to save us?"

Ganelon approaches Mike, firmly taking his hand as two medical droids are sent out to retrieve Myth and the others. More droids come out, carrying nutrient frames and begin to work on the process of harvesting the ysalmari.

"Business. Correlli recently reached an accomidation with the Empire to facilitate the harvests. In exchange for Imperial guards and a monopoly on the ysalmari market, we secure and keep up a steady supply of production, selling the ysalmari to the empire and its allies at a reasonable rate and one cheaper than if they dedicated their own forces to it. He heard about the troubles the vornskrs may have caused so he took precautions- a sonic field guanteed to ward off attacks in set radius, and a mobile repulsorlift station as a back up plan. The machines in the field can be moved so we can cover a wide area and keep up the harvests."

Ganelon watches the med droids return with the others and begin treating them.

"Its bad for our business if we let people die in an area where we're supposed to be under control. I under stand the boss is a bit more sentimental in that regard, but its simply running a tight operation. We'll help you heal up and be on your way if that is what you choose."

((OOC: Okay, here is a compromise, seeing as how the Vornskyr posts were illegal. Myth and Shalash are alive, but injured, and the Vornskyrs have been driven off by Ganelon and his group))

IC: "Yes, I will see to my people right away." Mike said.

He walked to Shalash, who was still unconscious, and in very bad shape. He was being loaded into a Bacta Tank that was on one of the ships brought by Ganelon of Seneferia.

Mike wandered over to the unconscious Myth who was being administered to by the medical droids. Now coming to. She gazed up weakly

"Don't worry, you are in good hands" Mike said reassuringly.

She nodded, a movement that seemed to drain her.

He felt guilt over the state of things.

If he had reacted quicker, Shalash and Myth wouldn't be in such pain

He resolved to train harder, to go farther, and to become the perfect warrior.

Mike ducked under a horizontal slash, bringing his vibroblade up in a navel to neck slice, splitting the droid in two.

He heard the whistle of the blade behind him, and rolled to the left, out of the path of the downward strike that passed through the space where he been moments before.

He came up onto his feet and slashed to his right, and behind, beheading the droid that performed the strike.

He brought his foot up and kicked the falling head at the 'face' of the final droid, slipping forwards as he did so.

The droid dodged slightly to its left.

Right into Mike's blade, impaling itself through the side.

"Time!" Mike called out, as the final droid fell.

"5 Minutes, 35.23 Seconds," The ships chrono replied, in its mechanical voice.

5 minutes, 35 seconds to deal with 4 Duelist Elites, set on expert level. Good, but not great.

He set to work repairing the droids.

He needed to improve.

Myth came to once more. her body ached all over from the many slashes and bite marks. Several whip-like marks were showing through her torn jumpsuit.

"ow, I must look a mess."

"You do." Said a man standing nearby. "But you'll recover. A week in the bacta tanks and you'll be fine."

Myth screwed her face up... Bacta. She hated the stuff, but she also hated being injured.

Slowly, she submitted herself to the week long treatment.

*The blast armor is cut off, it was the only reason he was still alive. He often played with explosive toys and to not have defense against such equipment would have left him dead long ago.

Half way though the healing process he awakened and pulled himself out of the Bacta tank even while the droids shouted their protest. He simply requested a bandage to place around his rib area. Though the robots obviously didn't agree with the action they did so anyway and a few minutes later he was aboard his ship waiting for there next move.

His comm system catches an arrent signel from the empire. and his ship leaves the atmoshpere and leaps into hyperspace.*

Ganelon, recieving orders from the Cardia factor gives orders to some of the remaining battle droids on guard from his hovering command center.

"We've had a request to capture vornskrs for training by the Empire. Mr. Correlli is adamant we do what we can to help them, so we'll make this neat. After we've cleared an area of ysalmari after this weeks harvest, we'll move our operations. We've made arrangments to "hire" a Jedi to assist us by luring the vornskrs in. We'll capture them, cut off their tails and proceed to ship them to Cardia for training in a weekly basis with our ysalmari shipments. Ready the transport to deliver our first load."

Mike approached Ganelon,

"We must be going, there are a few things back at my base that beg my attention. However, once your harvest is complete, I wish to purchase a few Ysalamir off you. Here is my comm frequency. I would also like to thank you once again for your assistance, and if there is anything you need, I will be happy to comply."

Mike made his way to his ship, and began the start up procedures, sending a comm to his other two teammates, telling them to meet him back at base when they were able.

Once the ship was warmed up, Mike lifted the ship off the ground, and headed for space, going into hyperspace once he was out of the gravity well caused by the planet.
