Technological affinity: Kailen feels machines and has felt them ever since she was little. Whenever she entered a hangar, or a dock, or an engineering lab, she immediately knew what went where and why. She didn't always know the names of each piece, but she knew how to put them together better than most mechanics. Now that she has her memory back, she is starting to become more sensitive to this and will learn to explore more of this in the future.

Background:

Born to a nomadic family on Naboo, Kailen was raised to find peace in the simplest of things. She did her best to indulge in every sunset and sunrise, to watch as Kaadu walked across the large plains of grass.

She was taught by her father on how to shoot in order to defend herself in the wild and saw an intricate complexity in the technology she was given; having never seen anything like it before, it mesmerized her. Over time she developed a knack for disassembling and reassembling small machinery and her parents were enthralled. It wasn't until she started it on a larger scale that her parents began to notice other small things with their daughter that they had never known before.

It became increasingly clear to them that she was special, and in a sense needed a better environment to train her talents. So they contacted a chapter of the Jedi council that was recruiting on Naboo and said their tearful goodbyes while their daughter was sent, at a young age, to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

She always missed the plains of Naboo and watching the Kaadu as they danced about the horizon, especially their silly little duck-like faces, but Coruscant fascinated her to no end. Every day she found something new to marvel at and attached herself to any nuance she found. Within this blur of excitement though, Kailen was trained as any other youngling until she reached the ripe age of about 13 under the tutelage of a well-known Jedi Master from the past.

Then, during the turmoil of what would be known as, the Clone Wars, Kailen was chosen by a Kheldor Master Kaljiik Haroon. He was a stubborn and hard headed man, but he never let Kailen out of his sight.

The next year followed in what Kailen would only describe as a great wound. The Jedi banded against a large hoard of droids that were persistent in their terrorist acts and Kailen was thrust into it all, unwilling in her hopeful morals, to see fellow Jedi die aside her.

She had been taught to survive, that was true, but all Kailen ever wanted was to live a simple life and there she was, torn between destruction in efforts of peace and still striving for a peaceful life regardless of where it took her. She didn't want it, she didn't need it and constant death and upheaval broke her dreams upon the plinth of their realization.

It was at about the middle of her second year under the tutelage of her Kheldor master though, that she befriended one of the troopers that had been put under his command on Kashyyyk; one of the Delta squad commandoes that was sent in on Geonosis originally near the beginning of the war to assassinate the Geonosian chiefs. She couldn't quite remember his specialization, but she knew that he had stolen her heart.

They weren't really allowed to fraternize with one another, as her and her master's station was temporary and even were that the case, Jedi weren't allowed to love. The irrational feelings that came of it were too hard to control and she was discouraged from affection regardless of where it came from, but she fought it. She fought with all she could to see her Ca'Aran.

But duty seemed to rob them both and it was duty that drew him and his brethren to bear down on her during the war when the emperor gave an order that drew seditious roots out into the open and began the mass slaughter of Jedi throughout the galaxy.

She had been tinkering in their campsite with a bit of metal and had come up with an intricate gift for her love, to give to him in private, but she was caught flatfooted and shot to ribbons.

The last vision of clarity she could remember was the illuminated tear of her Ca'Aran as he pulled the trigger.

When the troopers left her to die though, they hadn't caught her master, who was out patrolling. The Kheldor came back to the campsite and saw Kailen slumped over to the ground, blood consuming her robes and a metal trinket beside her that, although pointy in places, was immaculate of carnage.

He quickly took her body and gathered what he could. Then, with all of the force he could muster, he ran with blinding speed through the trees, slowly catching on to the after effects of the decimation the order was suffering, and what it caused within the living force. A tear broke through the force like a massive wave with each assassination and the Kheldor almost couldn't hold himself from killing the lot of the troopers he had come to call on in the past, but he had his padawan to worry about.

He managed to find an old shuttle on Kashyyyk that had crash landed, but still had working life support, and before soon the Kheldor had kick-started the old power systems into working order, rerouted the life-support and stashed Kailen in a bacta tank until she was at least somewhat stable. Then, when her body was moderately unscathed and she was on her way to recovery, he used the remaining power of the ship and a few pieces of strained technology to rig a stasis field that would keep her safe.

Then it was time for him to say his good bye to his apprentice, because regardless of his attention to her, this was the only kindness he could offer. He had intended to make her a Knight in the coming years of the war in hopes that she might grow and learn more about what she truly wanted, but it seemed that privilege was not his to take anymore. So, he left her metal trinket, a few knick knacks that they had gathered in their travels and a set of robes that were to be given to her when she had joined the ranks of knighthood all inside the capsule of metal that he had rigged from a few large metal pieces he found in the ship's infirmary.

"Farewell Kailen, may your sleep be unhindered and your potential be realized in another lifetime. We will not meet again. You may not be a knight for some time, but you will hold our virtues with you however long you last and forever be a knight in your heart."

Then, with his final words delivered, the Kheldor covered her up and left the shuttle, trying to camouflage it as best as he could, fusing the door behind him.

He hoped no one would find her and that, should she wake up that she remained safe. His own fate was a little less poetic however and he died trying to find his way off planet, getting surprised by a rank of soldier that had caught wind of his efforts and dispatched him.

Many years later the shuttle's metal began to fade and deteriorate with age causing an uncomfortable buildup on the aging power cells, and before long the aging power cells became unstable and exploded, causing the capsule Kailen was in to shoot out of the wrecked shuttle and into the brush.

The external damage to the trees was devastating, but controlled by the rain that came later, sweeping away all the evidence.

It was a week though before the stasis effects began to fully wear off Kailen. She was held in her ailing capsule that was damaged from the explosion and at about a week's time, when she finally opened her eyes, she was able to bend the corroded metal away and step out into the first sunshine she had seen in years. It was blinding and although it seemed obvious with the cold air washing over her, she didn't realize that she was naked until she looked down.

Her cheeks went red with embarrassment and she immediately searched for anything she could find to ease the tension, rooting through her capsule to find anything that might have been left there.

There was a set of robes, a trinket, a few random knick knacks and, Nothing.

Feeling cold, Kailen reached for the robes and put them on, grabbed the knick knacks and placed them into a satchel at her side and left. She left to brave the scary wilds of Kashyyyk and couldn't remember anything about them. She knew she was still fourteen through some odd arrangement that seemed infinitely hazy to her, but it didn't really help her predicament any to figure that out.

She knew her name and had vague memories of her past, but the prolonged stasis had pushed some of her stronger memories away.

As she trekked through the wood of Kashyyyk freshly robed, the day she woke up from stasis four years ago, she probed the items she was left with and saw significance in each, especially the metal one. She didn't remember what the words etched into it meant, but it still held more significance to her than anything else in the galaxy, so she held it close with her always.

She did have a great deal of trouble getting out of the Kashyyyk wilds alone though. It was very lucky that a few Wookies managed to spot her being chased by a few rabid monkey like creatures and bring her back to their village or she would have been mincemeat. Eventually they found her a ship that would lead her off planet and she said goodbye to the friends she was beginning to make there.

For four years Kailen lived after that, in a residential apartment on Coruscant making due with a job as a mechanic, because of her connection to the force and what it brought to the table. Working with machines was absolutely incredible. She felt like she would never leave.

Over time she started to get her memory back, but even after her years as a mechanic, constantly running home to figure out more about herself, Kailen still couldn't remember what happened all those years ago. She vaguely remembered her parents on Naboo, her master and the green imp like creature that had taught her the beginnings of what she would need to become a Jedi, but she didn't know how or why she was where she was, or what the metal trinket really meant to her.

The other knick knacks weren't really significant and as such were put away somewhere in her apartment, but every day after she got her first job as a mechanic, she kept coming home and staring at the piece of articulated shrapnel as if it would tell her something new.

She figured it was clear to her though, now that she was eighteen and she had done what she could with the materials she had and could remember her place in the Jedi order, that maybe her answers rest in returning to the Order.

So Kailen donned the robes given to her once more and made toward the nearest temple in hopes of finding a new master.

Kailen has had several small adventures in the Jedi order and has slowly learned to accept her memories of Ca'aran. It seems he is off somewhere too far for her to find and she now holds the majority of their bond, but some part of her still misses him. She is doing what she can to move on though and will continue to do so for a few years.

She has slowly started to realize her potential as a Jedi Ace and is slowly working to realize her true potential.
